My Little Pony: A New Start
Chapter 22: 22. Meeting Ella Part One
Previous Chapter Next ChapterHello! I missed you guy... girls... Everypony! Here it is! The next chapter (Finally eh?) It took me wayyy longer then expected, but it is still on going. I have not abandoned this story yet. This is part one of two, and after that, I might get Discord in on things. And no, nothing from Season four will be in this story.
A small crashing sound made me jolt out of bed, Twilight seemed to be still asleep, blissfully unaware to anything at the moment. I heard voices outside and I got scared. Burglers?! While Equestria was peaceful, it wasn't hard to imagine crime still happening here, but at a much lower rate then back home. I got out of bed, throwing pants on and I removed my blade for it's sheath, the shiny blade twinkling in the moon light, Luna really outdid herself this night, the moon hung silently in the dark blanket of the sky, the stars twinkling. I shook my head, getting back to the problem at hand when I heard the voices again, something thumped in the house, and I slowly walked out of my room, Spike was still asleep in his basket, so it couldn't of been him getting a midnight snack. I gently grabbed his basket, picking it up and put in just inside my room before I closed the door quietly, I turned around, something was staring at me in the darkness, standing still, but it didn't know I saw it so I looked away, making sure to keep it in my peripheral vision. I walked a little closer before turning to it and my hand glowed brightly, lighting up the entire area around us, my sword at the ready. "You think you can break in he-." I was cut off as I stared at the girl in front of me... What was she? She looked to be a griffin, but had some dragon features, her beak looked more like a muzzle then anything, her wings seemed to be more like dragon wings. When I looked at her, her eyes glancing to my sword and she instantly gasped, thinking I was going to hurt her. She was actuality quite beautiful, her elegant form was a lot like a dragon, and she had more curves then I ever imagined. She bolted for the door before stopping when she got there, as it glowed red, my hand sending a barrier over it. "Who are you?" She looked around quickly, before turning towards me and she brought her claws up and they shined a little in the light.
"Le- leave me alone! I didn't do anything to you!" She said definitively and I took a step forward, making her take one back.
"Well you did break into my home, so I could kill you right here, or you can just tell me who you are." I said sternly, and she gulped, probably pondering if she could take me or not, but she just backed up, once again searching in vain for an exit. "Relax, I don't want to hurt you... Who are you hiding f-." I got cut off as the door got kicked open. A couple griffins came in and she gasped, running over to me, hiding behind me.
"There she is! Give us the girl, and you won't get hurt." I looked back at her, fear filling her eyes as she looked up to me, tearing up slightly and I turned back.
"No..." I said sternly, and a little quiet, making the biggest one take a step forward.
"We outnumber you pal, now give us the girl." I looked back at him, there was only three of them, but still, I had to defend her, it was in my code.
"If you do not leave my home, I will spill your guts on the floor, and I really don't wanna do that." I idly swung my sword in hand, giving the three serious and piercing stares. The front one sighed, like the rest, he had a spear in his right hand.
"Very well, but we warned you!" The one on his left came at me, his spear pointing straight at me. I pushed the girl away, dodging the spear at the last second, kneeing him in the stomach and I elbowed him in the neck, picking up his limp body and chucked him across the room, back at the other two. The one on his right was speechless, his mouth wide open, I put both feet on the ground, staring at the two remaining griffins. "Fuck sakes, get that useless wretch out of here, I will deal with this guy." His servant nodded, picking up his buddy and headed out the door, the big one taking a stance.
"I don't want-." He lunged at me, cutting me off and I dodged, but he was quick, knowing what I would do, and he swung sideways, hitting me with the shaft of his spear right in the side, sending me to the floor. I back rolled, getting to my feet and swung my sword, clashing with his spear as she tried another slash with it. My hand glowed as I put a barrier around my hand so I could grab the end of it, clenching my hand on it, blood leaking down my hand a bit as the barrier dug into my skin. "HA!" I broke the tip right off, throwing the useless item aside and I looked back at him. He was speechless, he eyed the bar that he now held in his hand, but soon caught me off guard when he sent it upside my head, sending me to the floor. I was a little dazed as he lifted his claw, ready to smash my head to pieces. I shoved my sword up, right into his side, making him stop, my arm slowly retracting as I pulled it out of him, his blood running down my blade. He took a couple steps back, I knew it went all the way through. He knew he was no longer in any shape to fight as I got back to my feet, the left side of my face was hurting, my heart beat was throbbing my head as I looked at him with one eye as my left was closed out of pain. He put his hand to his side, backing towards the door and looked me right in the eye.
"This... Isn't... Over..." And with that, he left, leaving us alone. I dropped my sword, the room spinning as I fell to my knees, when I remembered the girl! I turned to where she was. She was wide eyed, looking at me, a single tear falling from her eye.
"Thank you..." She whispered before lunging at me, hugging me tight. "Thank you!" I pushed her back a bit, getting some distance between us. She looked at me, I had to make sure she wouldn't hurt me.
"What is your name?" I whispered sternly, she was a bit taken back, her eyes going to the floor.
"M- My name is Ellakatinera." I smiled, she seemed to be really nice, and her name was beautiful.
"That's a pretty name, the name is Marshall. So, why did those griffins want you anyways?" She sighed and looked at me, she looked pretty tired now that I got a better look at her.
"It's a long story... but I have been on the run for about, three days or so." My eyes went wide, she looked a little helpless, she must be starving and exhausted.
"Here, after I wrap up my hand, I will make you some food, then you can sleep for a bit." She teared up a little as I went to the storage closet, a small smile on her face, when she frowned a little, splaying her furry ears that were quite pointy to her head.
"Why are you being so nice to me?" I felt a little bad, she must of been treated really badly her whole life.
"Because, I have had a couple conflicts with those griffins before." I opened the door, grabbing the first aid kit and I pulled out a roll of bandage, wrapping it around my hand. I looked over at her, our eyes meeting, and I took her into full detail as she turned on the light, allowing me to get a better look at her. She, as I said before, was beautiful. She was brown and white, like a regular griffin, but her wings were larger, brown with white streaks running down them. Her body was really curvy, much unlike a griffin, but more dragon like... What was up with that? Her hair was wild, a part going down over one eye a little, it was mostly a nice deep brown with a white streak going down the middle. It was a little long, going almost down to the base of her wings. Anyways, her face was pretty cute, a little harder to describe but I will try my best. Her beak looked to be, less of a beak, but more of a muzzle, still golden brown as it should be. Her eyes... Were pretty, the right was a light purple, and the left... Was a deep brown, and it made her look really mystical as she looked up at me cutely, slowly blinking.
"I heard about you! Your that Marshall!?" She blushed, looking at me as I stood up while nodding, my gaze going downwards, I just realized I forgot a shirt.
"Yea, I guess my name is stained where ever the griffins live." I sighed as I walked towards the kitchen, Ellaka... Umm... Let me try again... Ellakatinera? Yea, anyways, Ellakatinera followed me and I pointed to a seat which she shyly took. I tried to clear my head, an almost complete stranger was in my house after I stabbed a griffin, and was now making her food. I looked at the clock, it was five thirty. I guess breakfast will do. I set to start making her breakfast, glancing back at her a couple times, just in case. I was really wondering what she was. She must of noticed me looking back at her, because she looked away. "Sorry, I was just wondering, what exactly are you?" She seemed to be really taken back from my words, looking towards the door, getting up slightly. "If you are thinking of leaving, go, I will send them right for you, just answer my question." I said calmly, our breakfast was almost done, and she sunk back down, sighing in defeat.
"Well, I am half griffin, and half dragon" I knew it! She had to of been part dragon. "So where I come from, I am a sick abomination of griffin and dragon kind." She dropped her head a little, clearly ashamed at what she was. I walked over to her, bending down and I put my hand on her shoulder, making her look up at me.
"You are a unique individual, heck, I am a human, the only one in Equestria! As long as you don't cause trouble here in Ponyville, you are always welcome Ella-... kat..." I fumbled with her name and she just giggled, putting her hand on my arm.
"Just call me Ella." I smiled, making her blush at how close I was to her when a gasp startled us both.
"Marshall! Watch out!" I turned to see Twilight on the stairs, her horn glowing as she charged up a spell. I felt Ella grab my midsection and I put her behind me, making Twilight stop a bit, looking at me with a questioning look on her face.
"Twilight, it's ok, Ella won't hurt anyone." This calmed Twilight down, a guilty look on her face as she lightly walked down the stairs. I heard light whimpering behind me, making me turn around to see Ella, scared out of her wits, clutching me like I was about to leave her forever. I gently ran my fingers into her hair, making her look up at me. "Hey now, sorry about that, but griffins really don't like me, and the only one I knew who came in here was Gilda." She gasped when I said that name, taking a step back from me.
"You know Gilda!?" She seemed very taken back, even walking back a couple more steps.
"Hey, I'm not her friend or anything, she is pretty much my mortal enemy. I delt with her a handful of times." This calmed her, making her sit back down, laying her head in her arms.
"Sorry, it's just that, she was the one who ordered me to be taken back to the tribe, put on trial and then killed..." She looked me in the eye. "By stoning..." My jaw dropped a little. How could they be so cruel?! I walked over to her putting my hand on her shoulder, making her look up at me.
"Don't worry, they will have to get through me before they get to you. I promise you." She looked up at me, her two different coloured eyes sparkled a little as she teared up, shooting forwards and hugging me.
"Thank you." I blushed a little, at her sudden embracement, but I soon put my hands down her back. She grabbed around my midsection, so my arms trailed down her back at an angle.
"Hey, it's no problem." She then pushed herself back, looking up at me with a quizzical look.
"It most definitively is a problem! You put your life on the line for me!" I shook my head, with a smile.
"I would do it for anypony... and you I guess. I am the protector of Ponyville after all." I moved away from her, making her let go of me as I walked over to the stove again, putting her breakfast onto a plate. I put some on a plate for me and Twilight, before moving all three to the table. Ella splayed her ears to her head as I put her food in front of her.
"Oh wow... is this all... for me?" She looked at me, her two different coloured eyes staring into mine. I nodded and she turned back, a little smile going over her muzzle as she picked up her fork and dug in. I just smiled down at Twilight, she was leaning against me, her eyes were closed as I guess she was really sleepy.
"I will be back, I have to put this sleepy pony to bed again." And with that, I picked her up, walking up the stairs and made my way to her own bed. I laid her down and put the blanket over her, lightly kissing her on the forehead and I walked back down the stairs, Ella was still sitting there, her plate was completely empty. Man, she must of been starving... I smiled as she looked over, her cheeks red out of embarrassment.
"Sorry... I haven't eaten much in a couple days..." I felt bad for her a little, she must of went through hell. I walked over, putting my hand on her shoulder, gently rubbing my thumb on it.
"Don't worry, you have been through a lot, how about some sleep?" I offered and she nodded while yawning. I stood up, letting her follow me to my room. I opened the door and she stepped inside. "You can sleep in my bed." She blushed and looked away, making me realize how that sounded. "I didn't mean it like that! You sleep, besides, I need to make sure they don't try anything." She giggled at my embarrassment before she walked towards my bed and stood beside it. She flayed her ears, a guilty look on her face.
"Are you sure? I mean, I doubt they will be coming back so soon... Besides, I woke you up earlier, so you need sleep." I then took that into account as I yawned, sighing then I walked in and put my sword right beside my bed, just in case. I then was about to take off my pants, unbuttoning them when I realized, she was watching me intently, a faint blush on her cheeks.
"Oops, habit." I then buttoned them back up and she sheepishly scratched the back of her head.
"It's your bed, get comfortable." She bit her lips gently, her eyes trailing back down to my... Well. I rolled my eyes, too tired to offer a retort.
"Well you had better not get any ideas." I said as I unbuttoned them again and pulled them down, her cheeks were a little red and she climbed in the bed as I did so on the other side. I laid on my back, interlacing my fingers and putting my hands behind my head as I closed my eyes and took a small breath, looking forward to get to sleep again. After ten minutes or so, I was almost asleep again when I felt Ella shift next to me, the dip in the blanket between us went up, meaning she either rolled over, taking blanket with her or she was... I felt her hand slide across the bed and gently touch my arm, pulling back a little as I felt her slide across the bed. Her wing went over my elbow, and I felt her wing keep going. She moved it over my chest, her feathers lightly tickling my chest as she did so, her hand following. I half expected her to have sharp claws, but she seemed to only have them on the very tips, the rest of her fingers were quite silky, something I hadn't felt in... Well it seemed like forever, I was used to hooves after all. Anyways, she laid her head on my shoulder, her body draped over the side of mine, her leg intertwining with mine and her hand went up around my adjacent shoulder, lightly hanging over it. She nuzzled her soft cheek into my, my arm moving down to run down her back, going right in between her wings. I kinda frowned. I hope she doesn't get worse and get attachment issues. I soon felt her lightly breathe in and out, signalling that she was asleep and I soon joined her.
I was walking the streets of Ponyville, but something felt off. There was nopony outside at all. I felt uneasy and drew my sword, looking around before I figured out why. I was shocked, it looked to be the whole Griffin army, stationed just outside of Ponyville! Fuck...I stood my ground, debating on running, but this was my home, and I wouldn't let anypo... anyone destroy it! I then turned back as the officer from before, the one that I had stabbed walked in, with two other guards beside him. "Ah, it seems this place isn't full of cowards after all... I'm happy to see you again friend." His tone and smug look made me grit my teeth. I spun my sword around in my hand.
"I'm not your friend! And you all better leave now!" I said, knowing full well if he got the army to attack, I was fucked. He smiled, and pretended to be taken back by my statement.
"Oh such harsh words! It seems you have a death wish! Guards!" His two henchmen came flying at me but I was quicker then both of them, dodging their attacks and I retaliated with my own strike, I kicked the first one in the neck, making him black out and hit the ground, tumbling to a halt. I then attacked the second one, but he was quick, blocking my attack and went for my vitals with his open hand. I kicked it down and shoulder rammed him, then followed up with a sword strike, but he managed to kick me in the side making me fall back. I back rolled, and got to my feet as he came at me again. I ducked, and hit him in the head with the handle of my sword, knocking him to the ground, in a slumped mess. I then looked back at the officer, he just smiled and stepped forward. "Good show, but now put down your sword, or I will kill... them..." He pointed over to the side, all my friends were bound in chains, guarded by some griffins. My eyes went wide, glancing back at him. "So... Give up." He then looked over and smiled. "Ahh, and there is my girl now." I looked over and saw... Ella?! I was shocked as she walked up to the officer, and they shared a deep kiss, before both looking over at me, smug smiles on their faces.
"Ella?! How could you?" She giggled, rolling her eyes at me.
"Well it was simple, pretend to be in distress and I knew you would take me in with no questions asked. So really, this is all... your... fault..." She grinned, I was in disbelief... How could she... That... bitch! She then approached me, still smiling at me. Once she was in front of me, she traced her claw down my jaw line. "Oh don't look so down, besides, it's all over now!" She grabbed my throat and I stabbed her, right in her chest and she went wide eyes as I grabbed her arm, removing it from my neck and I stabbed her again and again, her body recoiling a little as I did so. After five or so times, I stopped and kicked her back making her fall to the ground, blood leaking out of her. "Marshall... how could you..." She gargled. "You are a sick fuck, you have to die, we won't let a violent animal like you live..." And with that, she put her head back, taking one last breath and she stopped moving. I was in shock, I... I... killed her... I felt my vision blur and I fell to my knees before laying flat out and passed out.
I jolted awake, my breathing was quick and I looked down, Ella was completely laying on my chest, her limbs spread out, her long hair was nicely cascading down her back. Her wings were spread, gently laying over me. Her body was warm, her muzzle nuzzling my chest and she was slightly smiling, humming in her throat a little. I took a deep breath, my hands were gently on her back, her fur felt really nice under my hands. I gently rubbed them against her back and she slightly stirred, her voice was quiet. "Hey..." She sounded a little raspy, her hands tucked under my shoulders a little.
"Good morning..." I chuckled. "Sleep well?" She then looked up at me, her hair covering her her left eye, the light purple one staring up at me and she nodded.
"Yea... Thanks for letting me sleep here... Mmm." She nuzzled my chest. "You are nice to sleep next to." I rolled my eyes, smiling a little as I felt my cheeks heat up.
"So I've heard..." She giggled and brought her left had to my cheek, gently touching it.
"Is someone blushing?" She said cutely, and I blushed a little harder.
"Well you are pretty cute." She blushed herself, lightly biting her bottom lip. Her light purple eye was still staring at me. She flipped her hair, and I flicked my piercing out idly, her eyes going wide as she saw it.
"You do... don't you?" She looked up at me and I nodded and opened my mouth to show her my piercing. She blushed, biting her bottom lip. I then brought my tongue back into my mouth, licking my dry lips and she laid her head back down, listening to my heart beat.
"Anyways, not to spoil the moment, but I need to get out of bed, can't stand laying in bed this long." She got off me, letting me put my feet on the floor. I stood up and stretched then grabbed a shirt from my dresser, putting it on. It was just a white v neck tee, perfect for going to work with Applejack. I glanced back at Ella. "I have to get to work, should be home around four. Twilight will be happy to show you around, but if you ever need me, I should be around Sweet Apple Acres, that's the apple farm just outside of town." She nodded, looking at me as I strapped my sword to my back, tightening the strap in the front before I made sure it could slide in and out easily. "My bits will be in the top drawer of my dresser if you get hungry you can find the cafe in town for lunch or something, it's a pretty good place. And if anypony tries to give you trouble, tell them you know me, and they should understand." She smiled and nodded as I sat down on the bed and put my shoes on when she embraced me from behind.
"Have a good day." She said quietly and I rolled my eyes.
"Yes dear." I said sarcasticly, prompting a giggle from her and she lightly pushed me.
"You know what I mean, I will see you later." I nodded and stood up, walking to my door and I opened it, walking onto the upper floor of the library as I closed the door behind me. I heard voices come from down stairs, and I leaned against the back of a book case, listening in.
"Princess Celestia has requested us at the castle immediately." Twilight said, gathering things into a saddlebag.
"What's up this time? Discord again? Something else out of wack that the princesses did thousands of years ago?" Rainbow asked, staying aloft in the air, her right hoof across her chest, her other going side to side while she spoke.
"I don't know, they never said. Only that we should prepare to be gone a while." Twilight replied and I noticed Fluttershy look in the direction of my room.
"Umm... What about Marshall?" The rest of the girls seemed to be a little nervous.
"Yea, you know how he get's Twi." Applejack said while trotting over to the rest of the girls, but Twilight just shook her head.
"Celestia said that he is to remain here, in case something happens." I felt my heart get a bit tight, they were going away...
"He won't like that..." Fluttershy said as she adverted her eyes to the ground before looking back up. "He cares for all of us." The girls nodded in agreement, before Twilight sighed, her horn glowing.
"I know you're there Marshall... It's ok to come down." I was puzzled. How did she know I was up there? Whatever... I walked out from behind the bookcase and hopped of the top floor, landing on the main one. I walked over and sat down, not ready to speak. "As you heard, we are going to Canterlot for a while. I don't know how long we will be gone, but you have to stay here." I was about to offer a retort when she said. "Celestia's orders... Something big is happening, she feels that Ponyville is in danger, and she is assigning a handful of guards to be under your command." I nodded, listening to the alicorn. She looked at the other girls, before speaking. "You girls ready?" They all nodded and she turned around. "Well, goodbye for now..." She said, an empty feeling coming up inside me already as she hugged me, followed one by one, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, and last, but not after a couple seconds, I got hugged on top by Rainbow. After about fifteen seconds, they all let go and walked to the door way, before Twilight's horn glowed and they were about to teleport.
"Marshall, you you mind looking out for Sweetie Belle while I'm gone?" Rarity asked, barely holding it together, and I nodded, knowing she lived with her parents, but I have yet to find out where. But I assumed that she wanted to make sure nothing happened to her sister around Ponyville.
"Oh, and make sure Scoots is ok too, don't wanna see my number one fan get into trouble." Rainbow added and I nodded, tears welling up in my eyes, knowing it would be a couple days max before I could see them all again. And with that, a flash of light made me close my eyes and when I opened them again, they were gone. I sat back down, the eerie silence... nothing. I put my forehead on my left hand, sighing. What am I going to do now? I sighed, laying back on the sitting area, I had nothing to do anymore so I decided to get a shower. I walked back to my room, finding Ella sleeping in my bed, a content smile on her muzzle and I rolled my eyes, grinning as I walked to my dresser and got some better clothes. I grabbed a black pair of jeans, and my usual red long sleeved, v neck shirt. I also remembered to grab a clean pair of boxers and some socks, walking towards the bathroom. I closed the door behind me and quickly got undressed. I turned the water on hot, just how I liked it and stepped in, the steamy water running over my body and I let out a sigh of content as I relaxed, letting the hot water go over my body. I should go to the spa soon and get the full treatment. I thought as I realized how sore I was, never taking a break in the past... However long I was here for, I had forgotten that I was not from this world, I seemed to fit right in. I snapped out of my thoughts and started to soap up, making sure to get every part of my body clean. After a couple minutes I stepped out of the shower, wrapping a towel around my waist, the water beading down me and dripping off. I got dried off and got dressed, just finishing putting on my socks when there was a knocking at the front door. I got up, my sword scabbard in hand as I walked down the stairs, putting it on me and I tightened it up then reached the door. I opened it and was greeted with about twenty royal guards standing in front of me.
"Sir, we are here by Celestia's order, we are here to help protect Ponyville in case something bad happens." The brown stallion in the front said gruffly.
"Sir?" I chuckled lightly. "I don't think I hold that title, anyways..." I looked around, wondering where to station these guys. "Is there a guards quarters in Ponyville?" I asked, not wanting them to eat me and Twilight out of house and home!
"Yes sir, on the east most part of Ponyville." I nodded, smiling a little.
"Alright, use it. Do some patrols around, and send word if you spot anything." They all saluted and then walked away as a unit. I crossed my arms. What have I gotten myself into? I smiled and shook it off as I stepped outside and closed the library door behind me. "So... What to do?" I asked myself, sighing right afterwards. I usually hung out with the girls, so not having them around was taking some getting used to. I decided to walk around a little, see what's going on in town today. As I walked through the streets, I noticed someponies had some scarfs on, just now realizing it was getting a bit chillier, soon winter would be upon us. I wandered around, and before I realized, I was on the path to Sweet Apple Acres. Old habits die hard as they say. I was used to working there, and that was the first place I usually went to, seeing how it is the furthest from Ponyville and I tend to walk there for some exercise. As I approached the place, voices filled my ears and I looked at a ridge to my right, the Cutie Mark Crusaders were coming over the top, involved in conversation... But they all seemed a bit unhappy. I couldn't make out what they were saying, but Scootaloo soon looked up and spotted me, before saying something to the others and they all lit up and came running. I smiled, bending down and prepared to be knocked over. First to get to me was Scootaloo, seeing how she used her wings to help her, then Sweetie Belle, and last, knocking me to the ground was Apple Bloom. I expected her to knock me over, an Earth Pony is pretty strong. They all hugged me, saying the same thing.
"Marshall!" I smiled, wrapping my arms around them and gently squeezing them.
"Hey girls, what was with the long faces?" I inquired, suddenly all thee pulled back, with frowns.
"Well, our sisters and Rainbow Dash went to Canterlot again... They just got back two days ago! And now there going back again..." Sweetie Belle said, all their ears flaying to their heads. I sighed.
"I know, I miss them already too, but it will only be for a couple days, right?" They all nodded, little smiles of hope on their muzzles. "Well, I bet you three have a new idea to get your cutie marks, right?" They all gasped and Apple Bloom spoke up.
"That's right! We are goin to town hall and goin to try bein..." They pulled back, getting in a little semi circle.
"Cutie Mark Crusader mayors!" They all said, sticking a hoof in the middle upwards to the sky. I rolled my eyes and chuckled.
"Well get going, I'm going to see if Big Mac needs a hand." They all waved goodbye and I made my way into the farm, Big Mac seemingly working extra hard, he had two pairs of bushels on his back, kicking twice the trees. I approached him and did a little 'sup' nod. "Hey Big Mac, need a hand..." He smiled, sweat dripping off his face.
"Eeyup." He said with a hint of strain. My hand glowed and I lifted the two pairs of bushels off his back.
"You buck the trees, leave the lifting to me." He nodded and I put the two wooden bars, connecting the bushels together that were meant to go onto a ponies back, onto my shoulders. It was fricking heavy! I strained under the weight. I could carry two, but four! I was pushed to my limits. I held it together, managing to walk to the barn and place them onto the ground. And from then on, I only carried two. We worked for quite a while, stopping around noon when Big Mac approached me.
"Thanks Marsh, I can handle the rest." I nodded and started to walk off. "Stop by tomorrow! I'll have your pay!" He called out from behind me and I waved over my shoulder, heading back towards Ponyville. I was a little bored, nothing at the time seemed to interest me so I decided to head home. I wonder if Ella is awake? I thought as I approached the library when a loud crashing sound made me run inside, Ella underneath a book case, a book in hand. I snickered as she struggled to lift it off her.
"Sh- Shut up and help me!" She yelled, her cheeks flustered as she still tried to get it off her. My hand glowed and the bookcase did the same as I lifted it off of her. She got to her feet, brushing herself off, her cheeks returning to their normal colour and I chuckled. "Don't say a word..." She grumbled and walked off. I stifled a chuckle when I heard the door open.
"He's right in here!" I looked towards the door, Apple Bloom and the rest of the Crusaders... Plus another that I have never seen before. I smiled, walking over to the four fillies.
"Hey girls, who is your friend?" I asked, the new one blushed under my stare, looking over me. Her eyes went to my sword, my hands, and my legs, taking into account how much taller then them I was. Apple Bloom then wrapped her left around the new fillies neck. I looked at her, she was a earth pony, her coat looked to be a brilliant gamboge, her light spring bud eyes stared at me and her cheeks were a little flustered as she blew her mane out of her face. It was a tomboyish cut, flipping over the right side of her head, it was a light brilliant amaranth with darker amaranth streaks. Her tail was the same colour and cropped, kind of like Big Macs.
"This here's my cousin! Babs Seed! Meet Marshall!" I smiled, knowing anypony who was family with the Apples, were good to me. I bent down and stuck my hand out.
"Nice to meet you Babs, where ya from?" She stared at my hand, before moving her face to Apple Bloom.
"Just what is he?" She whispered and I chuckled.
"Well, I'm a human, not from this world." I sat on the floor as I started to tell her what I was. "I came from a worse place then this, but I love it here! Everypony is nice and helpful! Besides, I fit in here more then I did back home." She nodded along, listening to me tell a little bit about myself.
"I see, I'm from Manehattan." She spoke with an accent, one much different from the country of her cousins. "Nice to meet ya Marshall..." Her eyes trailed to my sword strap. "Are you a guard?" She asked and I chuckled while shaking my head.
"Oh no, I'm protector of Ponyville..." I then thought about it from a moment, putting my hand on my chin and crossing my other arm over my chest. "I guess I technically am, but I only have a sword." I then smiled as the other three looked up at me with huge grins. "You want a little demonstration?" As I said that they all nodded excitedly and I chuckled and stood up. "Let's head out then." I turned a little. "Ella! I will be back soon!" Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo looked up at me weirdly.
"Who's Ella?" Sweetie Belle asked, turning her head to the side, with one eyebrow raised. I just smiled and shooed them outside.
"I will introduce you to her later, but for now..." I said as we stepped outside. "Let's get somewhere more open..." My hand glowed and Babs gasped, not knowing I could use magic and I teleported us to an open field near Sweet Apple Acres.
"Wowzers! That was crazy!" She said, putting her hoof to her head, her eyes spinning a little as she was a bit dazed from the sudden teleportation spell.
"Sorry, I guess I forgot to mention I could use magic." She shook her head, clearing it as she looked at my hands.
"And I just though you were strong like an earth pony, but you can use magic as well." I then thought of something and smirked. My hand glowing as she said that, my wings appearing but I kept them closed.
"And I can use these babies!" I spread them wide, making her gasp, a faint blush on her face as I drew my sword, striking a nice pose, my sword pointed down to the ground as I bent on my left leg, my left hand moving across my chest. I then dashed froward quickly, my wings flapping hard as I neared a tree, and sliced it a little, before rebounding up and backwards, before coming back down, going vertical, then back across at a bit of an angle then I kicked off the tree with my feet and back flipped to a skidding halt, before I threw my sword in a spinning motion and it glowed as I used my magic to control it as it hit the tree over and over quickly before I returned it back to me and charged as quickly as I could in such a short distance before I looped around it, bringing my sword into a back handed style and went a bit past the tree before stabbing back, piecing it and then I retrieved it, my hand glowing as I focused my magic to my right hand, my sword in the left and I spun around and punched the tree, snapping it right in two as the top fell, I levitated it in my magic, making it fly up and I dashed at it in the air. I stopped levitating it, but pooled my magic into my wings, gravity taking control again and it fell towards me when I heard a couple gasps as I charged at it. As I neared it, I felt the air resistance stop and I went faster, heading right for it. I looked back, a small red trail following me from a small red circle and I looked back. My hand moved quickly, slicing and dicing the tree into small chunks. I hit it a couple hundred times in a couple seconds, my magic allowing me to move my arms quicker. Once it was nice and chopped up, I leaned back into a free fall, going straight towards the ground with a neat pile of wood falling next to me. Once I was about ten feet from the ground, I flipped around and flapped my wings hard and slowed my decent as I landed and bent my knees, my hand glowing and I caught the pile of cut wood and gently placed it on the ground. I stood up, flipping my sword around the back of my hand before I sheathed it, silence filling my ears and I turned around to look at the four filles. They all had jaws on the ground, eyes wide as they looked at my handiwork. I sheepishly rubbed the back of my head, my face getting a little warm. "Anypony need fire wood?" They all started to giggle when I said that and they all ran up to me, in a semi circle around me.
"That was AWESOME!" Scootaloo's little wings flapped like a humming birds.
"Yea, I know ya had some skills, but I've never seen anythin like it!" Apple Bloom was the next to speak, her grin was huge. "An I'm sure we could use some firewood Marsh, I'll be sure ya get paid for it too!" The four giggled and I rolled my eyes.
"So I'm now a lumberjack now?" I said sarcasticly, trying not to grin as the fillies giggled a little louder. Babs fell over, rolling on her back as she laughed. "Heck, if I am, I should be named like Applejack huh?" Apple Bloom stared at me for a second or two, before she burst into laughter.
"I guess that's what she is! An applejack!" Scootaloo put her hoof to her mouth, trying not to laugh and Sweetie Belle was almost crying from laughter at their new look on her name.
"Now you girls better not say anything, she would have my hide." I said, thinking about what she would do to me if they said it to her. They all regained their composure and nodded. "Good, now you girls be good! If you need anything, come find me, I have someone to see." I waved and took off flying to the town, heading for the library. I wonder if she got into more trouble? I smiled to myself as I neared the library I swooped down, landing right in front of the doors. I walked up the steps and opened the door, Ella was laying upside down on a small couch we had there, once her eyes darted to the door she flipped over and flew at me and hugged me.
"There you are! I'm starving, and there is nothing to eat aro-..." She trailed off, her hands gently touching my wings and she spun me around. "What the? You have wings?!" I mentally face palmed, forgetting to tell her about them.
"Yea, I can create them using my magic." I spread them wide, and she must of liked what she seen because her own wings shot open like a pegasus would. I smirked and she blushed hard, retracing her wings.
"Shut it... You know as well as I do you can't control it, besides, I didn't think they would be that big." I blushed and then retracted my wings and walked past her a bit.
"Anyways, lets get some lunch." My hand glowed and a small bag of bits floated from my room and I attached them to my belt, before turning back and walked to the door. "Let's go." She was a little hesitant, but I sighed and put my hand out. "It will be fine, I have a good name around here so ponies will know you mean no harm." She nodded and followed me as I opened the door and stepped outside into the sunny day again. I felt a slight breeze blow past me, the crisp Autumn air felt nice as I rolled my shoulders. "Come on, I know of a great place just up a head." I started walking and she followed, some ponies stopping whatever they were doing to look at her, but once they saw me they smiled and some waved. I waved back, but Ella seemed to be really nervous. "I know how you feel, when I first arrived her I got so many stares and weird looks. But over time, once they get to know you a little, it will be fine." I assured her as we walked, the ground lightly crunching under my feet and hers.
"Ok, cool I guess. It's just a little weird to have so many not want to chase me out of town." She smiled weakly, making me wince in thought of what happened to her before.
"I assure you, nopony will do that here, they will have to get past me first." She smiled a little more hopefully, her two different coloured eyes were looking around, taking in the sights of the town now. She untensed herself, getting a bit more comfortable with Ponyville. We soon arrived at the cafe and I got us a table for two, both of us sitting in at it, but not before I pulled out her chair before I realized she had hands, unlike the ponies of this world. She blushed and sat down. "Sorry, habit. I'm used to ponies and if they aren't a unicorn, they can't easily do that." I sat down and picked up a menu, trying to hide my embarrassment when Ella spoke up.
"You're cute when you blush." I blushed harder, peeking over the top of the menu to look her in the eyes, her teasing gaze and I looked back down, taking a deep breath.
"Anyways, how about we order huh?" I tried to change the subject and she nodded, looking over her menu for something that appealed to her. I looked over the menu, looking for something new and a little different. The waiter came up after a couple minutes and I put my menu down before he took it in his magic. "I would like fettuccine please, Ella, what would you like?" She looked at me for a split second before giving her menu to the waiter and looked at him.
"I would like the tortellini pasta please. And ice water to drink." He scribbled it down and glanced at me.
"The same here, but a slice of lemon on the rim." He nodded and walked off, leaving us to ourselves again. "Nice choice by the way, I've fallen in love with that dish, but I decided to mix it up a little, besides, hay and daisies don't sound that appealing to me." She giggled and nodded.
"Yea, I just wish they had..." She got a little closer. "Meat here... like fish or something..." I nodded in agreement.
"I think I saw some in the market before, probably for pets, but I think I could buy some and cook it... Man it's been a while since I had any kind of meat." I heard my stomach growl at the thought of eating a nice hunk of fish. "That's going on the shopping list." Ella licked her lips, nodding in agreement.
"That sound's awesome." We chatted idly for a couple minutes, about my past adventures here before our meals came. We dug in, but kept up the conversation, talking about what happened to us before we met up. She had it pretty rough for her whole life, so it was nice to know that this was one place where she could be safe. Our conversation changed to my most recent endeavour, when I fought Sombra.
"...And I died, giving the rest of my energy to the girls so they could rid the world of him forever. But after they brought me back, the Elements of Harmony managed to bring me back, and the next day, I got this..." I showed her my forearm, my day old cutie mark was still there and she nodded along silently. "So I have been to the brink of death, died and back again multiple times, and I would do it again, this is my home." I finished my meal and leaned back a little when I heard a mare let out a scream and run past me. I flipped over the back of the chair, and spun around, three griffins walking up to me.
"And so we meet again Marshall..." I recognized the middle one, he was the one from the other night. I drew my sword, just in case. "I wouldn't do that Marshall, not unless you want your precious Ponyville to be destroyed." I was a bit taken back. "I have the entire Griffin army setting up camp outside Ponyville, and unless you want every, single, pony to die... give up." He walked away, speaking back to me. "You have one day, and we will invade." The royal guards that were stationed to me came running through a side street a bit behind me to my right. "Oh, and you can thank Ella for everything..." He said and they all took off flying, my jaw wide as I spun around and looked at Ella, she looked scared as I started at her in disbelief.
"You... brought the... entire... griffin army to Ponyville? Do you know what you've done?!"
