In-Story Summary: Twilight Sparkle, Sunset Shimmer, and Trixie Lulamoon have one thing in common: swords, guns, magic, and boots to (demonic) asses. Oh, and they are unicorn ponies that for as long as they can remember have lived on Planet Earth as humans, never knowing that they came from a magical land in another universe known as Equestria.
The Magical Girls, Pt. 1
No one knew where they came from, or for that matter, their oddly bizarre hair colors when they were found by a passing off-duty officer many years ago in the year 2009. Then again, when seen by the public, they'd be mistaken for Japanese cosplayers. But growing up together, the three young girls considered one another sisters. For one thing, all three discovered latent abilities that would otherwise be considered fantasy: magic. They learned as they got older that, yes, there was such a thing as monsters and demons. These monsters hide within the darkness, and would prey upon the unsuspecting.
When they were only eleven years old, they were attacked by a demon that hungered for their strong magical auras. They barely survived the encounter, only getting lucky after a burst of magic from the three girls. Ever since, they trained themselves in self-defense, learned their limits to their magical talents, expanding upon it, discovering that old magicks did exist in the world but were lost to mankind. They also were proficient in guns and the use of swordplay. All of this secret knowledge they have kept hidden from others, as many would likely not understand magic's real existence.
It is currently the year 2025, and three seventeen year old girls were walking home after an exhausting day in high school.
"Well, today was very informative, huh?"
The first girl was Twilight Sparkle, the unofficial leader of their three-girl group. She had violet-colored eyes, and her hair reached down in a smooth straight with slight curling around the sides and ends. Her hair color was moderate sapphire blue with violet and brilliant rose streaks. She had a healthy skin coloration, despite the fact that she gave off the aura of being a bookworm.
The second girl was Trixie Lulamoon. Her hair was shoulder-length in wavy curls. She has dark grayish violet eyes, and the colors of her hair were two-toned pale cornflower blue with very pale cornflower blue stripes running through her hair. She was a shade pale than Twilight.
The third girl was Sunset Shimmer. Her eyes are a moderate cyan. Her hair long curly waves, curlier and wavier than Trixie's hair style and slightly two inches longer than Twilight's hair length, and the colors were a blend of crimson and yellow stripes/streaks. Unlike her two sisters, she had a bit of a faint tan to her skin tone.
The normal school uniforms they wore consists of a dark blue skirt with knee-length or thigh-length socks, dark dress shoes, a white long-sleeved shirt and red ribbon secured around the collar, and wearing a jacket colored dark red with white accents. The insignia of the high school they go to is embroidered upon the left upper area of the jacket sleeve, and stitched upon the left breast pocket. Only Twilight wore the knee-length socks in her school's outfit, while her two sisters went for thigh-high socks.
"I think our Gym Coach was being a bit of a hard-ass today during third period," Sunset says to Twilight, as she holds her book bag in one hand over the left shoulder, her right hand manipulating her Android phone. She was playing a still very popular app game, Ayakashi: Ghost Guild.
As it was nearing summer, and there was only one month before they would be released for the summer break, students of the school they attended were allowed to wear their summer alteration, which would be blouses with shortened sleeves, and were allowed to leave their school jackets at home or to put away into their lockers. The girls were wearing their summer uniforms.
"You know, I think the teachers enjoy giving out harder assignments as school nears the end," complains Trixie, "Trixie does not enjoy it."
Each identical school bag held variations; the large button clasps. Twilight's had a six-pointed purple star with white sparkles. Sunset's was a yellow and red yin-yang-styled sun symbol. And Trixie's was a star-tipped wand with a magic ribbon trailing around it.
"Sis, school's out. You can drop the third person speech," Twilight informs Trixie.
Trixie gazes to her sister. "But it's fun to speak in the third person, Twily."
Twilight rolls her eyes.
Sunset looks up from her game she's playing on her droid. "Only you, Trixie, find the third person speech fun."
Trixie smiles Sunset's way.
"Look at it this way, girls," Twilight speaks up, "We had a fun day at school, we're learning a lot, and it's been a month and a half since we discovered any minor demons, or vampire covens, or supernatural sightings here in Shibuya."
Oh yes, and they live in Japan, apparently. Yes, forgot to mention that. What? You thought they lived in an English-speaking country like the United Kingdom or America? Of course the names sounded English to most Japanese citizens. But the three girls were fluent in Japan's native language, as if they were born in Japan. They also knew the English language.
"Twily, I hope you didn't jinx us by mentioning the supernatural," Sunset warns Twilight.
"And don't you follow up with the cliché answer, Twi. I doubt we want to be proven wrong and get attacked by vengeful evil spirits," Trixie immediately inserted herself, quick to cut Twilight off.
With a huff, she glares at Trixie and Sunset. "As if I'm going to jinx us! Moments like that only happen in anime!"
"And our life hasn't been like a real-life anime? Considering our special talents?" Sunset reminded Twilight, stressing the last two words.
"Puh-leeze! If anything happens, we'll be ready," Twilight waves off the concerns.
The other two girls roll their eyes upon Twilight's statement. The last time that was uttered, half the east area of the Kanto region was nearly destroyed by an ancient medieval castle of chaos-incarnate that almost unleashed a horde of ghouls, goblins, ghosts, and monsters alike approximately two years ago.

The home the girls lived at was fit for a family of five. The extra space was necessary for some of their hidden magical secrets. It was on the outskirts of Shibuya's business districts and the family. The building was a two-story location. The ground floor having all the necessities of a living room area combined with a dining area, a kitchen in the back, and a large auditorium-like room where they train and practice. The front area was also where they meet their clientele. The upstairs were the sleeping quarters and other rooms off-limits to visitors.
Since their emancipations at a young age, proving they were responsible to live on their own, they started up a business. The name of their business was aptly called Mahō Shōjo. They did the occasional odd jobs for the people of Shibuya, but nothing that would be considered criminal. For the very few, they would take on cases of the supernatural type. On other days or weeks, it's really a front for when they would go out and take out demons or monsters that rise up from darkness.
It's a really interesting place.
Well, interesting if they would get job offers or calls on their business number. Lately they haven't been getting any clients for an odd job or two in the past six weeks.
Twilight was in the kitchen, wearing comfortable sweat pants and a shirt, and wearing a purple kitchen apron. She was preparing dinner. Trixie was lazing about on the couch already in her stars and moons-colored powder baby blue pajama pants and matching button top, button mashing on the game controller of the PlayStation X, playing an old but popular digital PlayStation 4 title, Batman: The Arkham Collection (a bundle of all the Arkham series game titles; Trixie was currently playing Arkham Knight). Over at the recliner near the three-seat plush couch was Sunset, clad in nothing but her vivid crimson panties and a canary yellow spaghetti tee, reading the Aincrad Arc of the Sword Art Online manga. Take note the manga faintly encompassed under her cyan-colored magical aura.
"Is dinner ready?"
"Almost. I'm nearly done with the pork cutlets," Twilight answered, taking careful preparation with the pan filled with hot vegetable oil and frying the final two breaded pork cuts to perfection.
"Rice with fried pork, again?"
"Well, it's better than take-out."
"Don't worry. I got other things, and I have a wonderful dessert in the refrigerator," Twilight informed Trixie.
"Hey, Twilight, have you heard Motomiya has a crush on you?"
The purple-haired girl blushed, hearing the name of Daisuke Motomiya, the purple-eyed boy with the single lightning-bolt streak of vivid green in his unruly dark hair. Twilight decides to retaliate. "Well, what about Kazuto? He's been giving you love-struck looks since school began."
Sunset blushed now, recalling the rather shy and timid-like personality of the pale violet-eyed blue-haired boy who went by the name Hinata Kazuto.
Trixie giggles. "Our tough and headstrong Sunset and the cutely shy Kazuto-kun?
"Oh yeah, Trixie? I heard that Kanō was peeping at you during the end to gym class today," Twilight informed Trixie.
Sakura Kanō was the girl's full name, with red eyes and pale pink hair. She was not afraid to express the fact she was a full-blown lesbian. And she had quite the attraction to poor Trixie, who unfortunately was straight. And Trixie sighs.
"I wish I could just tell Kanō that I'm not interested in her in that manner. But..."
Sunset smirked. "Every time you think you're safe, she pops in and practically molests your boobs."
A furious blush emerges. Trixie glares at her laughing bacon-haired sister.
Twilight laughs from the kitchen.
"Shut up, Twily!"
"Sorry! But it's always a funny routine, Trixie," said Twilight.
Trixie huffs, and looks back to the TV in anger, taking her anger out on the bad guys in the game.
"Well, at least Kanō has yet to try and finger you," Sunset quips.
A pillow magically thrown in Sunset's face was Trixie's response.
"No unnecessary roughhousing, girls. Tomorrow we're going to try and get clients into our home."
Sunset tosses the pillow back with her magic aura, in which Trixie catches easily without looking away from the TV.
"At least we have part-time jobs aside running Mahō Shōjo," Sunset tells Twilight.
Twilight only smiles as she finishes the last details of their dinner.

"Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together, and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn; the younger brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects, all the different types of ponies.
"But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night. One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon.
"She vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal night. Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: the Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister, and banished her permanently in the moon. The elder sister took on responsibility for both sun and moon. And harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since."
This particular tale was one that all ponies would read if they ever visited the Canterlot Library. However, old pony tales often tend to have grains of truth. It is a thousand years since that battle between sisters, one of goodness, the other corrupted by darkness. The land of Equestria lived in this blessed harmony, ruled by Princess Celestia.
However, a couple years ago, three families were struck with tragedy. Unknown magicks had struck quite suddenly. They were three rather innocent foals that were born with great magical potential were lost from cracks in the air. Princess Celestia looked into every known book she had, and even the sealed books of her long old mentor, Starswirl the Bearded. The chaotic magic felt in the displaced magical remains did not connect to Discord. The Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony was still sealed away in the gardens in stone.
But even she would find no answer as to what caused these abnormalities in the magical spectrum. It was not related to pony magic, or even zebra Wiccan magic. And other "evils" that could be responsible were still long banished (King Sombra) or forever imprisoned (Lord Tirek).
Today was going to be another beautiful day. The birds were vibrant and alive with song, there was nary a dark cloud in the sky, and the warmth from her sun shined down upon all the bright and cheerful ponies, basking them with the warmth akin to the love of a mother's touch.
Celestia looks out the window of her bed chambers, gazing upon the bustling city traffic that is Canterlot. A couple years ago, she felt the magical potential of three unicorn foals and knew that one day these three foals would grow up to become great ponies in Equestria. And then they were taken away. Each and every single pony within her country was like her children. And she felt the pain of the families when they had lost their blessings on that tragic day.
There was a polite knocking upon her door.
"Enter."
The door opens with a push of unicorn magic, as a white-coated stallion with a blue mane emerged. He wore the centurion armor of the Royal Guards. Upon his flank was the symbol of a gleaming shield. This particular pony was Shining Armor. He was the youngest captain of the Royal Guards, having strived to become somepony who would be the hero to those unable to protect themselves. He also was the older brother of the unicorn who vanished years ago with the other two disappeared foals.
"Captain Shining Armor. Good morning."
"Good morning, your majesty," Shining Armor greeted the princess, bowing to her.
She smiles. "Rise, you need not be too formal with me."
"I'm sorry, but I do not wish to cause any form of trouble."
She smiles, chuckling quietly to herself.
"I feel that today's preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration is underway?"
"Yes, Princess," answers Shining Armor, as he walks by her side, the unicorn and the alicorn leaving the bed chambers. "This year's location is in a small cozy town just on the outskirts of Canterlot. I believe Iron Wing called it Ponyville."
She nods. "Good. I hope this year's Summer Sun Celebration goes swimmingly like last years."
Celestia hears a sigh come from her captain. She then remembered: it was on a Summer Sun Celebration date when her captain's sister and the other two families' daughters were ripped away from Equestria.
"My apologies, Princess. I'm just..."
The tip of her right wing touches Shining Armor's snout, silencing him.
"I understand, Shining Armor. Your sister and the other two unicorns years ago all held a great magical potential. They would have been accepted without problem into my academy had that tragic night not happen. I still feel at fault that I was unable to help the three families torn by this tragedy."
"It's why I decided to become captain of the guards. I want to protect those who cannot protect themselves." He glances at his cutie mark. His dream, the ambition to succeed, granted him the cutie mark he now proudly possessed. It went hoof in hoof with his name he was proud to have. "And maybe one day, I can find a way to bring back not only my little sister, but the two daughters of the two families who vanished on that same night."
Celestia smiles to her captain.
"Before we go and face the Day Courts, captain, may I inquire as to the relationship you share with my niece, Cadance? How far is it?"
Her smile grew larger as an obvious blush begins to form on the stallion's face.
"Y-Your majesty," he stammered. He did have a cute look when he looked nervous. No wonder Cadance fell for the stallion.
Shining Armor and Cadance met about four years ago, and became friends quickly. Eventually, it turned to having crushes on one another, and then eventually love blossomed forth. Even though the love between them was special and also very cute to spy upon, many ponies didn't know. For those who did, they kept smiling about it, teasing the couple every now and then.
Celestia was often the one pony who teased the cute couple more than others when in private.
In the village known as Ponyville, the ponies that lived there were all working together to spruce up their town, making sure nothing was amiss. It was always an honor when your town or city was elected for the Summer Sun Celebration, and the pride all of Ponyville were feeling was to ensure this year's Summer Sun Celebration was THE best ever.
In Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie felt her Pinkie Sense go off.
"Huh..."
When her signs went away, she was rather confused. This was unlike anything she ever felt before.
"I'll have to make sure I have extra cupcakes and ammunition for my Party Cannon. I have this odd feeling it'll be needed later tonight."
With this thought in mind, Pinkie Pie makes sure Gummy got breakfast before she begins to help the Cakes in the kitchen preparing the bountiful deserts for the Summer Sun Celebration.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, the three lost foals were human teenagers, and the three sisters were working at their part-time job. Twilight managed the inventory at the corner market they worked at, while Sunset and Trixie took care of the sales and helping those in need. Twilight looks down upon the papers on the clipboard, the end of her pen chewed softly in her mouth. A smile crossed her lips.
Yes, everything was all accounted for.
Twilight's clothing consisted of a knee-length purple dress a buttoned white shirt, a light purple and pink sweater vest over the shirt, knee-high socks, and white purple-laced sneakers. She had her hair braided back in a neat manner while she was working.
Exiting from the back, she spies Trixie bidding a farewell to an elderly woman who left with a small plastic bag filled with bottled packages of coconut milk. Trixie wore a faded dark blue pair of jeans, and the shirt was also a buttoned blouse, crisp white, and she came to the shop with her and Sunset with a white hoodie. It was folded up and set off in the back to be retrieved when they leave later. Trixie enjoyed wearing the platform zipper boots that were knee-high and in dark blue or black colors; the pant legs were comfortably tucked into the boots.
"So, how are things in the back, Twily?"
"Everything's swell, and everything's accounted for. No missing inventory. And the more adult mangas in the back are under close watch."
Both Twilight and Trixie sneak a look to the back where a couple of young boys barely in their teens were trying to act nonchalant and innocent. But the two girls knew they were likely trying to steal the adult manga books this shop (unfortunately) kept in stock. Just as one of the boys with glasses thought he was sneaky in stealing one of the porn mangas, the poor kid got swatted on top of his head. The manga fell to the floor. Standing behind the three boys was Sunset, looking down at them with disapproval and the shop's sweeping broom in hand.
"Don't even think about it," she chastised the boys.
The three boys make a run for the open exit, disappearing into the bustling city life.
Sunset was the leather wearer of the trio, having a leather biker jacket in all black with custom-made sun-shaped buttons with a zipper, the tab also shaped like a styled sun symbol. The jacket of course was put away in the back with Trixie's hoodie. She wore a short fuchsia skirt with bright yellow stripes running down the hips, a pale red t-shirt, thigh-high socks and red/white sneakers.
All three girls were wearing the shop's pale brown apron that had the logo of the corner shop they worked for part-time.
Trixie flashed Sunset a thumbs-up at her sister. "Good shot, Sunny!"
"Why are the perverts getting younger and younger?" Sunset complained, putting the hentai manga back on the high shelf.
Twilight offers a comforting smile. "It's 2025. The internet's a bizarre world in this day and age."
"It's 2025, we got fast internet, virtual reality gaming that doesn't follow the stories of Sword Art Online, and many uses of clean energy sources, and yet we still do not have any hover bikes or flying cars. The future sucks without a flying car or bike, or a real jetpack that's not part of video games."
The other two girls giggle at that comment.
"What? You want something like Fabula Nova Crystallis?"
"Not exactly... I bet they promised flying cars back in the 1970s. Then the 1990s and they have nothing. Then we're past the year 2000 and still there are no cars in the sky not attached to wires."
"Maybe it'll be the year 2100 before flying anything happens and space travel is instant?"
The voice came from the shop's entrance. It was Hinata.
"Ah, hello Kazuto," Twilight greeted their classmate from high school.
"Hello, Sparkle," the shy boy greeted the purple-haired girl with a smile.
"Hey Sunny! Your boyfriend is here!" Trixie shouted to Sunset.
And the laughter erupts as two equal blushes cross the faces of two classmates.
An action-y ringtone (1) blares from Twilight's cellphone. "Excuse me," Twilight excuses herself, heading for the back of the shop for privacy, leaving Hinata with Trixie and Sunset.
She answers the call when the door is closed behind her.
"Hello?"
"Hello, is this Mahō Shōjo of Shibuya?"
The voice was cool and calm, almost melodious for a male voice.
"Yes, I'm Twilight Sparkle of Mahō Shōjo. How may I help you?"
"The password is..."
Twilight tensed briefly. It was an idea that came from the old Devil May Cry games, and from its animated series years ago, and they played upon this for their business's real attraction. The password was something that no normal person would use for a business contract as serious as the things they deal with.
"Pinkamena Diane Pie," the client on the other end of the call finished.
=0=0=0=0=
In Equestria, Pinkie sticks her head out the window and releases a sneeze. Rubbing her nose of a twitch that happened, she washes her hooves clean in the sink, and returns to baking cookies and cupcakes for the Summer Sun Celebration.
=0=0=0=0=
"So, what may I help you with, sir?" Twilight asks, fully in her Demon Hunter persona.
"I have dealt with some monsters of a dark nature myself. So it is not uncommon to come across those who have dealt with things the majority of the world may never believe in, even with proof. Frankly, Miss Sparkle, I am rather glad to know that I am not the only hunter of dark hidden monsters and spirits with good talent."
Before Twilight could ask questions...
"Sometime tonight, I wish to meet with the three sisters of Mahō Shōjo. There is a dark power that is slowly regaining it strength, and will plunge two different worlds in darkness, starting with the world that mirrors Earth. Kind of like Zero no Tsukaima, only without the funny hi-jinks and the accidental harems."
"Who are you?" she demands coolly.
The voice gives a chuckle. "You may refer to me as Black Crystal Wisher. I will wait on top our high school's roof."
Click.
Twilight stares at her phone, even as she hits the end call button.
Wait. Our high school...?

Princess Celestia was being groomed by her personal hoof-maids. The Day Courts were small as today was the annual Summer Sun Celebration. Aside her usual routine, Celestia was fully prepared for the annual celebration. As she sees the sun lowered and the moon slowly rising upon the now star-lit night, she was deep in thought. Any minute now, the nightmares that took her sister away will arrive.
The stars shall aid in the mare of the moon's escape, and Equestria will know nothing but eternal night.
Oh, Luna...
"You are set, Princess Celestia." The pony who said this had a white coat with silver mane done up in a stylish braid, and red eyes. She was clad in the typical royal maid uniform. Her cutie mark was an open silver pocket watch with a short chain attached.
"Thank you, Silver Watch."
The maid smiles happily to her princess. "I'm glad to be of help, your majesty."
She gathers her materials and leaves, as Celestia exits the room, and walks down the hallway. Eventually she is in the main hallway that shows stained glass windows. She stopped in front of a stained window display that showed herself and Luna in harmony, before the incident that happened a thousand years ago.
It has been a thousand years since I had used the Elements of Harmony. I would not know if I am capable of using their powers if she returns to Equestria. If I am unable to call upon the Elements of Harmony...
She looks intently at the glass depiction of Luna.
Then my precious ponies will be in danger of Nightmare Moon's darkness...
Celestia lost track of time, as she stared upon the stained window display, recalling happier memories of her and Luna being together. From their fillyhood to adulthood, from the events they've faced together as one; the defeat of Lord Tirek and his banishment into Tartarus, the banishing of King Sombra, and the period when Discord held the world under an iron claw of disharmony and chaos and they eventually found the power to save the world. Eventually, her thoughts faded away when she heard the tell signs of her four personal guards marching up to her.
"Your majesty, we're ready," one of the guards informs. "The chariots are prepared, and we'll begin flight to Ponyville."
"Thank you, Skylight."
All across Equestria, all towns and cities were holding their own Summer Sun Celebration parties. A small smile graced her, as she knew that Ponyville was to be packed with many ponies, local and from out of town.
"Let us be off."
The guards followed after their princess in a box formation, towards the prepared chariot.
"Skylight, what of my niece Cadance?"
"Princess Cadance has already departed and is with Captain Shining Armor in Ponyville. The garrison of security has the town occupied."
Celestia smiles softly. "It's another holiday for all my ponies, Skylight."
In her thoughts, she was worried. Her corrupted sister will soon emerge from the moon's surface. Then she'll have to once again face her sister in battle. Little did she know that a miracle will occur...

A cat-slitted eye opens, and it pierced the veil of darkness with its unholy yellowish glow.
The darkness will engulf everything. Soon the universe shall be mine!

On Earth, it was a clear night tonight. Aside adults who worked late hours at their jobs, or delinquents who were in minor gangs, the night life belonged to those who loved being out after dark. Three girls were out late at night, using their magic to speedily move across the tops of the roofs, heading towards their high school.
"I swear, it's like we're copying half the things we know from mangas or anime."
"Mahō Shunpo (Magic Flash Step). It was your idea, Trixie," Twilight informed her sister.
"Yeah, and I'm starting to regret it. I feel like we're pulling off copyright infringement."
"After three years, you come to this conclusion?" questioned Sunset.
"We're going to be late. That surprise kishin attack held us by an hour," Twilight informs her sisters.
The three girls wore near matching outfits with color variations. These outfits consisted of knee-high leather platform boots with chevron bordered armor-recreated kickpads attached to the front, secured by brass buttons and straps. Comfortable white blouses are worn, with dark gray armor-threaded suit vests resembling old-styled vampire hunter's vests. They all wear black leather pants with military-fashioned belts; purple for Twilight, blue for Trixie, and red for Sunset. The pant leggings are tucked neatly into the boots they wear. And each teen wore a long, two-tailed coat with a pronounced buckled collar; moderate violet for Twilight, pale cobalt for Trixie, and red for Sunset. As for the colors of the boots: Twilight's was purple with the pads pale pink with the borders white. Sunset's are crimson with the pads a faded yellow. And Trixie's were cobalt blue with pale cornflower blue pads.
Trixie used magically-augmented firearms, highly-customized M1911-style cerulean-tinted handguns with silver highlights that have a fusion design of heavy revolvers set in place along the handles and the back ends. The barrels of both guns were heavily customized into triple-barreled ends and cylinders. They are ornamented with scrollwork patterns, which are disguised runic sigils that augment magical properties into the weapons. The hair sights were customized with short pointed unicorn horns.
Sunset wielded a unique weapon that was the cross of a sledgehammer and a dual-bladed lance. The weapon is crafted out of strong metal alloys, etched with magic runes along the long handle of the weapon for magical boosts. The tail end of the handle is capped with a rounded thick gold ring, and a topped rounded red gemstone. The handle itself is a bluish silver tint, with the base an identical gold thick ring with twin red tassels and dual red orbs like hair ties. The top of the weapon is as large as a three pound hammer head, and on the top of the hammer head is a dual-bladed lance tip the length of a butter knife; gleaming silver with gold highlights and edges.
And Twilight was a dual swords wielder. They were similar in designed to curve scimitars, capable of folding inward for compact carrying, and full deployment the length was that of standard katanas. The handles were crafted in black and ivory-fused grips with iron bottom caps. The sword's guard resembled that of the Lambert Light from Sword Art Online. The blades itself are a high-polished silver, with violet lining the sharp edges.
They arrived to the school, leaping over the gates and pushed a bit more magic under their feet to soar up to the top of the school's roof. They landed on an area of the roof that was somewhat common for high school couples to go to during the lunch period. There were few clouds in the sky, and one cloud just passed by, allowing the full illumination of the moonlight to shine down brightly. The roof is illuminated, and across from them, near the door access was a person clad in a trench coat, dark pants, boots, and shirt.
"About time you arrived."
He turns around.
The girls were surprised at the face greeting them.
"Daisuke?"
The violet-eyed teen smirked.
"I'm good with my voice at times. It should have been a tip-off to you, Twilight," he says to them, walking up to the three teens.
"So, what do you want, Daisuke? What did you mean by this darkness threatening our worlds?"
"Like I said... I have seen glimpses of it, but I know that there is indeed another world that seems to mirror our world. It's the inhabitants that are different." He reached up and removes his necklace. A soft rush of magical aura filled Daisuke before vanishing. He offers the girls another warm smile. "I'm not magically strong like you girls, but I still have this little secret talent. I guess it comes from the fact some of my ancestors have dealt with magical or spiritual exorcism of demons during the ancient feudal eras of this fine country many years ago."
"Huh. And Trixie had this odd feeling you were more than simply a talented and smart student, Motomiya."
"Please, Twilight refers to my first name. You and your sister can stop being formal with me. Aren't we friends?"
"Yes, we are friends. But Daisuke, this is a bit of a shock. I mean, you did give the correct password."
"Yeah, because no one would think to use the name of a pink hyperactive pony," was the slight sarcastic answer.
"What?"
"Nothing..."
The girls decided to ignore that.
A sudden cold wind blows through. It got real chilly. A cloth is unwrapped, and Daisuke reveals that he is carrying a katana in a beautifully decorated dark red and gold-accented sheathe. The weapon is drawn, and it is revealed the katana's blade was pitch black but held a sharp edge to it. It was not a sword of decoration.
"It's begun."
Unholy howls of anguish are heard, and the girls all draw their own weapons.
"What do you know?" Sunset inquires. Her eyes are hard and stance tense as she grasps her weapon with two hands.
"All I know is that this darkness is like a poison. It's like blood that wants to swallow you up and never let go."
"Was that a Soul Eater reference, Daisuke?" Trixie shouted at him, taking aim at a monstrous creature that materialized and pulls the triggers.
Six streaks of cobalt magical energy fly forward and strike the black monster, making it shriek in agony.
"I had a great grandfather that dealt with demons during his time alive in Kyoto. I've read his secret journals that I discovered behind a paper seal and it once referred to one of my ancestors that encountered this darkness now revealing itself. This kind of evil nearly ruined the world years ago, but in defeating it merely banished the entity to another world by the power of seven priestesses. But lately over the past thousand years, it's been regaining its strength."
"And if something's not done soon, our world will start to notice something is terribly wrong," theorized Twilight.
Another creature formed from a red mist, but Twilight easily cleaves through the spirit, dissolving it. Daisuke cleaved a monster spirit of his own, as Sunset sent one flying with a baseball swing of her weapon.
"Here they come, girls. Don't hesitate in their auras!"
As the Mahō Shōjo and their unexpected ally fight against more appearing ayakashi and kishin, over n Equestria, ponies were in a panic when a heavy aura of malice formed when Princess Celestia was introduced to the citizens of Equestria.
"Lemme at it! I'll beat it up!"
There was a mare with a long blonde ponytail mane and tail wearing a cowpony hat, and she had to keep in check a light blue Pegasus with rainbow-colored mane and tail.
"Whoa, nelly! Settle down, Rainbow Dash!" the cowpony mare said, teeth gritted as she kept the pony named Rainbow Dash from recklessly charging this evil-looking pony.
The dark-coated pony with the unicorn horn and wings laughs to herself.
"Honestly, I am surprised none of you know who I am. After all, the signs have been there. You should have known who I am!"
Then the slitted eyes turn to the regal princess, showing a steadfast aura of protection for the others.
"Nightmare Moon... you've returned."
The identified mare laughs evilly.
"Yes, it has been awhile, hasn't it, Celestia?" the evil pony stated. Her teeth were as sharp as a shark's when she grins madly in Celestia's view.
"I have defeated you once before, Nightmare. I can do it again!"
"Can you? Really? It has been so long; do you even have the connection to those accursed Elements of Harmony? Or has a thousand years passed rendered you no longer in control of the only power that can stop me?"
Lightning flashed as clouds rolled in all on their own, stirred by the dark magic of Nightmare Moon.
"Stand tall, stallions and mares! We will not fail our princess!" shouted the authoritive voice of Shining Armor.
"Yes, Captain!" the guards chorused.
Nightmare Moon laughs loudly.
"You believe they are any match for me? They are nothing but foals!"
Proving her point, she unleashes a destructive blast of dark magic. Princess Celestia easily counters with a light-attuned magical beam of her own.
SLICE!
Twilight on Earth breezed through a cloud of demons, slicing through them, and unleashing ribbons of magic from each swing of her dual blades. The ringing gunshots from Trixie's weapons would unleash bursts of magic from each discharge. The explosions were a bit bigger because of the magic the girl was channeling in her firearms. Sunset was supporting Daisuke, heavy swings and slicing/stabbing while Daisuke's impressive swordsmanship shined in this onslaught against dark shadowy demons.
High above, clouds began to form, swirling and the moon was slowly being blocked. This mirrored over on Equestria's side, as the guards obeyed Celestia's command to protect Ponyville while she fought against Nightmare Moon.
"I will not allow you to harm my precious ponies!" Celestia yells at the monster that holds her sister imprisoned, launching defensive spells against Nightmare's offensive ones.
"ENOUGH!" Nightmare roars, unleashing a destructive shockwave that crashed against Celestia's thrown magical shield. With another loud cry of rage, Nightmare Moon manages to break Celestia's shields and send her crashing through somepony's house.
"Princess!" Shining Armor yells in shock.
"Auntie!" was Cadance's cry of distress.
Lightning flashed, and thunder echoes. Then the lightning strikes begin to hit the ground, carrying a magical charge in each strike.
"We are strong! We are infinite! We shalt not be denied! We shalt rule over all in eternal night!"
Multiple blobs of shadows began to form from her magical aura, and then take the shape of terrifying monsters that begin to assault the poor town. Panicking citizens ran left and right, trying to avoid the strange bipedal monsters with their sharp dragon-like claws. The pegasi weren't spared, as some of the demons had leathery wings and gave chase in the skies.
On Earth, lightning began to strike the roof.
"What in the hell?"
The four crowded, Trixie nailing down the last of the devils that popped up. Then below their feet, large runes emblazoned into glowing view. Three points were highlighted with symbols that matched certain symbols three girls used to identify themselves by.
"Girls... I can feel ancient magic through these runes."
Are you the ones to destroy the darkness?
They heard that disembodied feminine voice.
They were then blinded by a brilliant flash of light.
When the blinding glare went away, they found themselves falling through the sky over a weird town of various homes made of thatch rooftops. Instead of a school rooftop and a bustling large city, they were surrounded by the vast scenery of green nature. The dark clouds still swirled above, and the thunder peals with dark taunts. Screams are evident, as multi-colored ponies were seen running in herd packs away from chasing demons. While the drastic change of scenery was something to address later, the girls all knew that when demons are around, innocent folks would be in trouble of getting possessed or killed.
Sunset remained as Twilight and Trixie used Mahō Shunpo to move closer and start killing the demons.
"I got you, Daisuke," said Sunset, carrying Daisuke to safety with her own Mahō Shunpo.
A scream is heard, as a pony with a pale yellow coat and light pink hair and wings was cowering violently, with what looked like three small fillies cowering behind the older winged pony.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The demons were killed by Trixie's rapid-fire of gunshots.
Closer to town square, Shining Armor fell, large gashes in his fur as he stood fiercely to protect Cadance. The demon rears its large claws up, ready to kill.
"Demon scum! Die!" a girl's voice yells.
Two swords flash rapidly, an arc of magical light tracing their paths. The demon was sliced apart, dissolving into sand and ash with a small fading wisp of purplish black smoke rising from the pile.
It was another bipedal being. This was not monstrous. It did not look like a Minotaur. But Shining Armor caught the glimpse of his would-be savior, and gasped. It was the mane... the color of that mane. He remembered that mane color vividly, belonging to his vanished baby sister when she was born...
The swords folded inward, swiftly sheathed at its sides, and then the hands that resembled Minotaur hands were held up. Magic began to form. Equestrian magic began to form.
The other demons had since switched targets to the more dangerous enemy that appeared.
Twilight grins.
"Time to be blown away! Jupiter Oak Prison!"
The magical aura surges into the earth, and then the charging demons are thrown into the air as the ground beneath their cloven or clawed feet exploded, and large tentacles of wooden vines violently constrict their targets.
"Nova Flare!" another mare's vice shouted. This came from another bipedal being, only with crimson and yellow hair, unleashing a blast of flames. The waves of fire twisted and arced like sun flares.
Both the monsters and the wood vines holding them hostage burned to ash.
Daisuke rushed towards the large source of the familiar darkness: Nightmare Moon.
Nightmare Moon saw the strange creature rushing at her form the corner of her eye and began sending magical beams at it. The speedy creature evaded her attacks.
Celestia didn't know what was going on, but she took advantage and unleashes a wave of light magic, knocking Nightmare back hard.
"Rip to pieces!" Daisuke cries out, landing a hard slash against Nightmare, causing a gash in her protective torso armor. Then he swung upward, launching Nightmare Moon into the air with that uppercut slice. "Stampede Strike!"
Trixie moved up, a Mahō Shunpo getting her to cross the distance and flips forward, slamming her feet down over the head of the dark alicorn and launching her into the ground with a plume of smoke when she impacted the dirt. Still hanging in the air, she twirls her body until she was now upside-down.
A viable rainstorm of magic bullets rain down upon Nightmare Moon.
"FOALS!"
A shockwave of dark magic erupts, pushing back Daisuke and Trixie. Trixie righted herself mid-air and landed on her feet with a displaced trace of cyan magic, and a magenta magical aura caught Daisuke.
"Daisuke! Trixie! You two okay?"
Daisuke coughed a bit. "Yeah Twilight, we're fine. But that creature over there..."
"Yeah. I sense an immense source of darkness within that being," comments Sunset.
Nightmare Moon snarls with rage. Her mane flared violently to her emotions.
"Strange Minotaur-like beings... posing a great threat... this I did not believe would happen. Alas, thou have annoyed me greatly."
She narrows her eyes upon the females.
"You females... possess pony magic."
That stunned them briefly, before they hardened their eyes and were ready to fight again. The dark aura of this creature was heavy. With a shout, Nightmare Moon unleashed a blinding flash. In reality Nightmare Moon used this tactic to stun her enemies, and made a strategic retreat far away from the town, and in the direction of a dark and foreboding forest.
The lingering demons not taken out by the four emerged from around buildings, eyes glowing red. All ponies hiding in safety peek out as the monsters surrounded the four strange beings. The resulting fight that happened lasted only four minutes, when the last demon dissolved into sand and burning ash, killed by Twilight.
Ponyville showed signs of damage from Nightmare Moons' return, to the summoning of those evil monsters.
"Hm, now I wonder just what we got ourselves into," comments Daisuke, swiftly docking his katana and holstering the sheath on the left scabbard hooked to his pants belt. The girls put away their weapons as well.
Suddenly several of the ponies in armor hesitantly surround them, armed with shields and throwing spears.
Princess Celestia walks up, holding a hoof up.
"Put your weapons down," she gives the command.
"Your majesty, we do not know what they are. They could be creations of the evil pony," one of the younger cadets argued.
"Do as I say," she says, giving the command for her soldiers to stand down.
Reluctantly, and with another verbal command from their head captain, lower their spears.
A faint breeze blows through, carrying soft-whispered words.
Can you save the world from the nightmare?
Only the four humans heard the words. But they were more focused upon the real-to-life pretty pony princess with the unicorn horn, wings, jewelry tiara, and the in-the-breeze colorful mane she possessed.
"I thank you for defending this town and my precious little ponies from the foul monsters from Tartarus. May I ask of your names, and what species you are. You do not look like the Minotaurs of Beefland."
Her voice was melodious. It carried the tone of a mother's love for her children. But the four humans knew that she possessed a similar power as the dark winged unicorn pony, but that of pureness, or warmth and light.
"I am Daisuke Motomiya," Daisuke introduced himself.
"My name is Sunset Shimmer," Sunset introduces herself next.
Princess Celestia's left ear gave a slight twitch. That name was familiar.
"I am the wonderful and loving Trixie Lulamoon," Trixie introduces herself with a flourish of a bow.
"And my name is Twilight Sparkle," Twilight says last. She is unaware that Shining Armor heard and tensed up, hearing the name of his vanished baby sister. "As for your questions... we're humans, scientific name homo sapien."
Princess Celestia's long memories were vast. She was immortal, after all. She's lived a very long life. She finally recalled those three particular names; they belonged to the disappearance of three foals several years ago, on a Summer Sun Celebration event. Celestia released her senses, and felt familiar unicorn magic coming from three of the four humans before her. The girls, she assumed they were female by their voices, held immense magical prowess.
Was... was it possible?
Are these the three missing unicorn foals, but apparently grown up, and no longer a pony?
So, basically it was a story where Sunset Shimmer, Twilight Sparkle, and Trixie Lulamoon grew up as sisters in the human world. After seeing this art of Sunset, Twilight, and Trixie together (as ponies, of course), this came to mind. Then it becomes something of a Human in Equestria type, only the humans were once pony-born. Then Nightmare Moon scenario...
For those likely confused, the name Hinata is considered unisex; it can be used for both boys and girls. Ideas like this can also be used by other writers (if he or she wants to). I'm sure someone better than I could expand upon Humans!Twilight/Sunset/Trixie in Equestria, along with Earth-born spiritual-powered male human.
Wish I could post this on FimFiction, too. But I doubt it'd be accepted...
