Chapter 5: Tour De La Ponyville

Twilight was sitting down in a sofa chair, reading a random fictional book. As she read it, she flips the page from time to time with her unicorn magic, reading the next page as she did so. She could see Spike dusting all around the room trying to keep it nice and tidy. She lowered her book slightly to tell him something.

"Spike, stop spreading dust everywhere; you're going to make it dustier than it already is!"

Spike stopped dusting to turn back at Twilight, and gave her a glare.

"Well excuse me, Princess. But this feather duster isn't a dust vacuum, it's a duster! How else am I going to get all this dust cleared away?" Spike said to Twilight.

She merely rolled her eyes at Spike's comment and gave an 'Ugh' as she went back to reading her book. As if it were some kind of signal, a crashing noise could be heard from the stairway to her right. She sat up with a start as she saw someone tumbling down the steps. A flash of blonde caught her eye as the object of yellow crashed all the way down towards the base of the steps.

The blonde sat up as he shook his head, trying to regain his bearings.

"Darn it… It's even harder to walk on the steps like this…" The blonde said, whom turned out to be Naruto. Twilight put her book down and ran up to him, giving him a hoof.

"Naruto, are you alright?" asked Twilight.

Naruto looked up at Twilight and gave a nod, while putting his hoof into hers, to be lifted up from the ground. He managed to get on all fours and cracked his neck from left to right.

"I'm good… A pair of steps isn't going to get me down." He said as he turned around at the steps, pointing with his hoof. "You hear that steps? You haven't defeated me yet! I will conquer you some day, believe it!"

Twilight lowered her eyes as she figured Naruto must've hit his head as he went down, since he was acting a bit crazy. She blinked a couple of times and smiled.

"Well you're certainly more energetic than you were yesterday. I'm glad to see that." She said.

Naruto turned towards Twilight and gave a sheepish grin. He certainly was feeling better after thinking about things and having a night to himself in a bed. It wasn't often he was shown such hospitality, even in his own world. Naruto's mouth shaped like an o and looked at Twilight.

"By the way Twilight, this place is called… um, Ponyville, right?"

"That's right."

"So are there a lot of interesting places here, too? I mean…" Naruto started, as he spread his two front hoofs wide around the room. "Your home is pretty neat, so I'm really curious to what it's like on the outside too!"

Twilight gave a slight blush to the compliment from Naruto. "Well of course. There are lots of things to show you in Ponyville. Are you still up for that tour I mentioned last night?" Naruto gave a nod, and Twilight smiled once more. "Great! Shall we go then?"

Twilight was about to walk out the door with Naruto in tow, until she turned back towards Spike. She eyed the purple dragon carefully as he sees him organizing and dusting the books inside her house. She gave a frown.

"This room better be clean when I get back Spike. If you do well, I'll give you a jewel to eat." Twilight said. Upon hearing the word jewel, Spike stopped for a moment to look at Twilight, and gave a finger salute.

"You can count on me Twilight!"

As they walked around the open road of Ponyville, Naruto could feel the cool air hit his face, seeing trees all around, other ponies going about their business, and even see small little gardens. Some gardens hosted flowers, some hosted vegetables or gardening for all to see. It was a pretty prosperous town, kind of reminding him of some of the towns he went to back when he was travelling in his own world. It made him slightly homesick, but he would have to get used to being around here. As they walked around, Twilight caught a peek at Naruto's expression, and stopped.

"Is something wrong Naruto?" Twilight asked. Naruto looked back at her and shook his head.

"Oh no, nothing; it's just… I didn't notice it before, but the air here… it's so clean, and fresh, and it feels… peaceful here." Naruto said. Twilight tilted her head at this, but still gave her ever cheery smile.

"Well, feel free to breathe whatever air is around, it's not going anywhere." She giggled. This made Naruto chuckle back. As he did, a small gurgling sound could be heard from Naruto's stomach. He looked down as he scratched his head with his hoof.

"Eh heh… Guess Mr. Hungry down there doesn't like the fact I haven't eaten since yesterday, um…" he smiled sheepishly. "Is it possible to get a bite to eat around here? I'm starving."

"Sure Naruto, I know a nice sweets shop around here that we could go to. Would that be fine? I'm feeling a bit puckish myself." A sweets shop… When was the last time Naruto had any sweets? It would certainly fill up his hunger, at least for a bit. He gave him a nod.

"Lead the way my leader! Haha."

As they continued walking down the busy road for a few minutes, Naruto could see an unbelievable sight in front of him. A house made out of sweets; graham crackers, cherries whip topping—no, it looked more like a cookie bread house after getting a closer look at it. He hadn't seen anything that amazing before. He stood there, in awe, with his mouth drooling slightly. He looked towards Twilight in a creepy way and said.

"Do we have to eat that entire house? I may be hungry, but even I have my limits…!" Naruto said. Twilight only giggled at his question.

"Yes, we have to eat the entire house. I hear it's supposed to make you full forever for whoever eats it first." Twilight said in a joking way.

"Very funny Twilight, mocking my hunger like that…" He said with a chuckle. In response, his stomach gurgled again. He gave a slight blush as he walked towards the building with Twilight together.

"This is Sugarcube corner. A sweets shop that makes all kinds of things: Cookies, cakes, pastries, candy—anything that deals with sweets, they can manage. A friend of mine even works there, and by Equestria, she's great at it…" She said, along with a following sentence. "But she can be pretty crazy at times."

"I can't wait to try out whatever they have here then! Although… Why would you call your friend crazy?"

"She's just really hyperactive, that's all. You'll see why once we go inside."

Inside Sugarcube Corner, it was pretty stylish inside. Rows of sweets and cakes all around, whether it be for display or behind a glass frame, he would've mistaken it as a candy store if it weren't for all the cakes and such. As they took a quick look around, an obnoxious voice could be heard.

"Oooh! Customers, customers! Welcome!" A flash of pink appeared right in front of them, which seemed to be another pony. She was, well, pink, was a simple word for it. She had a pink coat of fur and a lighter pink of hair on her mane, and she also had party balloons on the side of her rear end. Naruto tilted his head as Twilight giggled.

"Hey there Pinkie Pie, How's business?" Twilight said to the hyperactive pink pony. She claps her hoofs in joy.

"It's going great Twilight! Ooh!" She runs up towards Naruto, while he slowly backed away from the intrusion of personal space. She looked at him from all around with inhumane speed, popping her head from left and right in a cartoony way.

"Ooh, ooh, ooh! Who's this pony? He looks like a cat, but maybe he's a cat pony?" She poked her hoof at Naruto's face. "What with the whisker marks there…?" She then brings her hoof up towards his ear. "And the spiky hair here…" And then starts hugging the heck out of Naruto's tail, which made him flinch. "And this beautiful and fluffy foxtail of his…!" But then she widens her eyes and backs away for a moment. "Wait… Foxtail? Why would a cat have a foxtail? Maybe you're a catfox! Hee hee!"

What Twilight described earlier was an understatement. This female pony was a complete sugar freak. He's never seen someone ever go this fast in an insane way. He felt a bit uncomfortable, until he heard the word 'foxtail'. Naruto raised a brow at her comment and looked back at his tail. It was indeed like a foxes. It was a bright orange with a white tip on top. Twilight gasped at Pinkie's comment as well.

"You're right, Pinkie! I've never seen a tail like this on a pony before…" She said as she took a closer look at it. "I wonder why I didn't notice it before…?" But despite all logic, she gave a big hug as she rubbed her face in it. "But it looks soooo cute!"

Now Naruto was feeling really uncomfortable. With Twilight and Pinkie rubbing up against his tail, he tried to control a muscle he hadn't used before, and flicked the tail away from them, they went 'aw' at the reaction, and Naruto merely shook his head.

"A-anyway, what's so strange about my tail?" He said. He didn't know why he had this tail either, but he knew they wouldn't have any answers why he had such a thing, so he just played it off. "So I have a tail like this… I'm sure others have similar features as well, right?"

"I don't think so! I know eeeeeverypony here in Ponyville!" She said as she darted off towards Naruto's tail once more, and poked at it. "And I don't know aaaaanypony here that has such a tail as yours! Especially with it being so fluffy…" She started hugging against it once more "And cuuuute…"

Naruto flicked his tail away once more.

"C-can we just get our sweets and go Twilight?" He asked. Twilight went wide-eyed as if she forgotten something important.

"Oh, yes! Of course! Pinkie Pie, you can adore his tail later…" Naruto squinted at her from that comment, as if Twilight forgot she adored his tail too… "But we'd like to purchase some sweets, if you don't mind?"

Pinkie Pie widened her eyes. "Ooh! I didn't know you two came here to buy some sweets! What do you want Twilight, and cat whiskers?"

Naruto placed his hoof at his nose, as if trying to pinch the base of it… But since he had no fingers, it looked like he facehoofed instead. "It's Naruto… and I'm guessing your name is Pinkie Pie…"

Pinkie Pie tilted her head with an o shaped mouth.

"Nah-roo-toh? Sounds like a piece of candy, or maybe a sandwich, or actually, maybe it sounds like a cat—"

"For the love of Celestia, can we just purchase a couple of cherry pastries?" Twilight interrupted with a shout.

Naruto bit into a cherry pastry he had in one hoof, which he learned to curl his arm around it. It was a little unbalancing, since he was still trying to get use to walking in this form. But he was slowly starting to get used to it… But walking with a leg less didn't help much. But it was good practice. Twilight also ate her pastry, with a smile on her face.

The cherry filling and the crusty but soft bread, gave Naruto a smile as he enjoyed the fruity flavor of the pastry. As they walked, Naruto started to talk.

"I had no idea that pink pony would be so crazy. It's like she ate too much sugar."

"Oh don't worry about it. That's how she always is. She's always very excited and happy. It's just who she is."

"I suppose so…"

As they walked, they were getting near to what looked like an exquisite building, Twilight pointed at it.

"Oh, you've never been to Rarity's boutique here before, have you?" Naruto shook his head at Twilight's question. "Well, let me show you the place. I'm a good friend of hers, and it's a good place to go to if you ever need any new clothes. Her tailoring skill is to die for."

Naruto gave a shrug. "Alright, sounds cool! Let's go!" With them both finishing their pastries at the same time, they head off towards the Boutique.

As they walked into the building, Naruto could see a vast amount of clothes, tailoring tools, and outfits all around him. It was indeed a tailoring store, and he could see a white pony with a horn on its head, along with an elegant purple mane and 3 diamonds on the side of its rear, measuring out a dress with a measuring tape.

"Hmmm, this simply won't do… It needs to be longer…" The white unicorn said, measuring out a dress on her table.

"Uhh.. Rarity? Are you busy?" Twilight said, trying to get the white pony's attention. Rarity's head pops up, and hears a familiar voice. She turns around and gives her a smile.

"Oh, hello deary! How are—you…!" Rarity's smile turned into that of absolute horror. Her jaw dropped as she saw Naruto. She darted her eyes back and forth at him, as if examining him. If that wasn't enough, her eyes slowly crawled to the back of her head, and collapsed to the floor. Twilight and Naruto immediately ran towards her side, and Twilight tried to shake her away.

"Rarity, wake up! What's wrong? What happened to you?" She said as she repeatedly shook her, trying to wake her up. Instead of helping, Naruto just scratched his chin.

"I know I'm good looking, but I didn't think I'd make someone faint…" Naruto said with a chuckle, but Twilight thought otherwise.

"Stop clowning around and help me Naruto!"

Eventually, Rarity did wake up after a few minutes of pushing and shoving her.

"Uhhnn…" She gave a lazy groan as she rubbed her head. "Where am I…?" She then took another look at Naruto, and shrieked.

"EEEEEKKK! THAT LOOK!" The sheer noise made Naruto stagger and fall on his ass. Rarity immediately stood up and eyed him with sheer horror.

"Just WHAT is that STYLE you're wearing!" She immediately walked towards Naruto and pinched at his jacket with both her hooves. "That awful orange and black color…" She then started ruffling Naruto's hair. "and that AWFUL hairdo! You look positively awful darling! How can you live like this!"

Naruto was about to say something about how insulting she was being—especially since he loved the look himself—but then she stopped in mid-fashion crisis as she saw something moving behind Naruto; A furry tail that caught her eye. She immediately walked up to it. Naruto rolled his eyes, guessing she was going to say his tail was ugly too. But then, she did something he didn't expect… She started hugging and petting it.

"Oh my…! This tail…! It's simply wonderful! Your fashion sense may be horrible, but your tail… It just screams style!"

Once again, Naruto had to flick his tail away from Rarity, and held onto his tail as if protecting it.

"What's with everybody and my tail? It's the third time today!" Naruto complained. Rarity walked toward him.

"It's no wonder why, darling! Your tail is simply fabulous! Ohh, it's such a shame I do not have something as high quality as that. It would be simply excellent!" Naruto slowly backed away towards the door.

"Well, it was nice meeting you, um… Rarity, I think your name is? But me and Twilight reaalllyyy should be going…"

Twilight wasn't doing anything in the situation ever since Rarity went a little crazy on Naruto. She changed that by speaking up.

"Er, sorry about that Naruto. I didn't expect Rarity to do such a thing, um…" Twilight began, but then Rarity interrupted.

"Oh my… I'm so sorry Twilight, I didn't mean to ignore you. I just couldn't help myself when I saw this… mix of fashion walk in. I just lost it, well, just a little bit.

A 'little bit' Naruto thought, was an understatement.

"I'm so sorry Naruto… I really didn't expect her to do that… Normally she's so exquisite and reserved. But when she sees something out of place, she kind of loses it."

"I 'kind of' noticed that when she was probing my fashion, Twilight…"

Twilight gave a frown towards Naruto.

"I hope you're not mad…"

"What? Oh, no, I'm not mad, just a little rattled from all that…" Naruto said. Today had been more of a wild day than a tour, he thought. But he did manage to meet some rather… interesting townsfolk here. A over-hyper pink pony who works at a sweets shop, a unicorn fashion designer who gets over-dramatic over ugly fashions… It was quite a day for him.

"It can't get really anymore crazy than this…" He mumbled to himself. As if irony were to shoot him in the head, he felt a speedy force hit against his back, making him hit and slide into the dirt, hard. When he came to a stop, he could feel something grab his tail, along with an obnoxious voice.

"YES! I found the fox Fluttershy! I TOLD you I could find him!" What grabbed him looked like a blue pony… with wings, along with a rainbow colored mane and rainbow colored tail. As Naruto turned his head towards the blue pony with wings, he figured it was a Pegasus.

"Ow! What's the big idea, bird-brain! Let go of my tail!" Naruto growled. The blue Pegasus raised a brow as he took a closer look at Naruto.

"Hey wait, you're not a fox! What did you do with the fox you fox!"

Was this Pegasus an idiot, Naruto thought?

"Oh, no no no Rainbow Dash… That's not a fox… That's another pony… Not anything like a fox at all…"

A softer voice could be heard as he sees a light colored Pegasus with a pink mane, land right next to him. Rainbow Dash, as the other Pegasus called her, just grunted.

"I can see that! I bet he hid the fox so we couldn't get it for ourselves."

This was enough. Naruto shook his tail free from Rainbow's hoofs and got up from the ground, shaking the dirt out of his hair. He glared at the both of them.

"Can't I get at least 2 minutes without someone going berserk on me! First it was a pony going sugar-rushed on me, then it was a pony mocking my fashion sense, and now…" He glares at Rainbow Dash. "It's a blind 4 legged animal who can't tell the difference between a pony with a tail, and an actual fox!"

"What was that!" Rainbow Dash said, as he slammed his head against Naruto's, whom also put pressure into Dash's head as well. "Who are you calling blind you cat-faced wannabe!"

"Oh now it's cat-faced? Now you can't even tell what I am? Do you need glasses just to know what I look like!"

Twilight and Fluttershy just stood there, looking at Rainbow Dash and Naruto go at it. They both sweat-dropped at the scene and Twilight shook her head.

"Um… So, Fluttershy, eh heh…" She turned her head towards Fluttershy. "What brings you and Rainbow here: something about a fox?"

"Oh, yes… A fox got away from my home. I and Rainbow Dash are looking for it. It must be so scared right now, lost and not knowing where its home is…"

As Naruto and Rainbow Dash bicker in the background, yelling about along the lines of candy and rainbows, Twilight gave a nod towards Fluttershy.

"Ah, I see. Definitely have to find that fox before it gets lost…" Twilight said as she smiled. She pointed her hoof at Naruto.

"That's Naruto by the way; he's new in town… Or at least, I think he is. I was just showing him around Ponyville."

"Oh, yes, that sounds good…" Fluttershy starts looking at Naruto's tail, ignoring the fight that's going on.

"YOU WANT A PIECE OF THIS YA PIECE OF COTTON CANDY!" Naruto shouted.

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING COTTON CANDY YOU CAT FOX!" Rainbow Dash shouted back.

"THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE!"

"IT MAKES SENSE TO ME!"

"He has a nice tail… It looks so adorable…" Fluttershy said with a slight blush.

"He gets that a lot."

After a few minutes of more bickering from Naruto and Rainbow Dash, Twilight felt that was enough and grabbed the two ponies by the magic of her horn.

"Alright, break it up you two! Let's be friends and stop fighting!" Twilight said to the both of them.

Rainbow Dash started flapping her wings as she looked down at Naruto.

"Hmph, I guess we should. My mouth is tired from shouting so much."

"So is mine…" The both of them glared at each other until Twilight got between them.

"Look, can't you two just shake hoofs and be done with it? This isn't a proper introduction at all!"

Rainbow Dash and Naruto looked at each other, staring. Naruto squinted, and so did Dash. Naruto looked down slightly as he looked back at Dash.

"I guess we got off on the wrong fo—er I mean hoof." He raises his hoof. "I'm Naruto. What's your name?"

Rainbow gives a smirk at Naruto, as if his name were funny. She places her hoof with Naruto's and gives it a shake.

"I'm Rainbow Dash, and you're looking at the fastest pony alive!"

"Fastest alive, eh… You're sure pretty fast with your mouth too…"

"Why you…!"

Twilight put her hoofs between the two as they almost went at it again.

"Maybe we should acquaint ourselves later, once we're both done being busy… Rainbow Dash, you still have that fox to look for with Fluttershy, remember?"

Rainbow Dash gives a nod towards Twilight, and looks towards Naruto.

"We'll meet again, catfox! You can bet your mane on it!" Rainbow Dash takes off into the sky once again, with unparalleled speed from what Naruto could see. Fluttershy follows with as she waves goodbye.

Naruto rubbed his head lightly as they both started to walk around town. It had been a long day for him, and it was getting irritating.

"Is life here always like this…? Always admiring other peoples tails and tackling them when they least expect it?" Naruto asked Twilight. She shook her head.

"Not always. But my, it's been a tiresome day. What do you want to see next?"

"Well…" As they walked along, Naruto could see a large barn up ahead. He squinted at it to see if he could get a better view of it. Could it be a barn for animals, or maybe a place for a farm? He wanted to see. He started to point in that direction.

"Well, how about—"He was about to say something, but was cut short with a child's voice.

"Twilight! Naruto! Emergency!" A purple dragon could be seen running along towards Twilight and Naruto, panting and sweating. "I've been looking all over for you two! You need to come back home, quick!"

"Why Spike? What's the matter?"

"It's… Your house… Princess Celestia is there!"

Twilight felt her jaw drop at the sudden words.

"P-Princess Celestia is at my house!"

Well now, I wonder why Celestia would give this surprise visit? I didn't even get to Applejack yet… Damn princesses…
