Prologue

I was wandering alone in the forest, going to meet a friend I met online "This was a really bad idea" I said to myself before turning around to leave.

When I heard a low growling behind me, I froze and slowly turned around to see a pair of yellow eyes, staring at me from a bush. Paralyzed with shock and unable to move, I kept staring at the pair of yellow eyes which so far had not moved. Moments later, the eyes lifted to around my height and started coming closer. Still paralyzed with shock, I couldn't move at all as the eyes slowly came closer.

Right before they fully emerged from the bushes, I heard a voice say "Well, were you just going to  leave without saying hello?"

I stood there staring  unmoving, now more curious than scared.

"Moonscream879?" I asked tentatively. A boy about my age emerged from the bush and said in a rather annoying tone "Who did you expect? The boogeyman?"

I let go of the breath I'd been holding and said "dude, that was kinda creepy" he flashed a yellow smile "dude, why are your teeth yellow?" he closed his mouth quickly and said "none of your business".  

I sighed, knowing I was never gonna get it out of him and said "So, why did you want to meet out here?"

"Oh, I just like it here" he said as he stared up  overhead at the moon which was covered by clouds right now.

"Can I tell you something?" he asked "It's kinda personal"

"Sure" I said. I regretted that for the rest of my life.

"I'm… kinda a werewolf".

I know I should have run the moment he said that. However, the moon chose that exact moment to come out from behind the clouds. 

I couldn't look away as his face elongated into a snout. I heard bones cracking as his knees reversed, he got bigger and hairier, his fingers morphed together and became claws, and his yellow teeth, which I could now see a little bit of rotting flesh between, grew and sharpened.

The moment it was done, he let out a bloodcurdling howl at the moon.

"This is me" he said.

His voice sounded horrible, like three of him were talking at once, and with a voice that sounded like sandpaper. As he lunged at me, I was able to break the trance he seemingly had me in and dove out of the way. I did what came naturally: I ran as fast as I could away from the thing that wanted to eat me.

Unfortunately, that meant going away from the city I came from. I ran, ducking under branches, jumping over holes and roots. I could feel his warm breath down my neck. I knew I wasn't fast enough. When I reached a small clearing that had only only a small screen of trees between it and the next clearing, I felt what I thought would be my last sensation on this earth. My ankle snagged on a root I didn't see and I quickly fell over. 

"Aww, too bad" I heard right behind me in that horrible voice. "Usually people give more of a chase."

He clawed my back over and over with his jagged, razor sharp claws. The pain was like nothing I had ever felt. It took all I had to prevent blacking out. He began laughing, leaned down close to my ear and whispered "This is my favorite part" right before biting my shoulder. The pain was almost too much for me to take. I was fading in and out of consciousness. I heard him gasp and begin running from something.

‘What could be so frightening that it would make a werewolf flee?’ I thought to myself.

I began pulling myself along into the other clearing and saw a lake and a creature drinking from it. The creature looked like a white horse with huge white wings that looked reminiscent of a bird by the feathers upon them. It also had a spiraling horn about 3 feet long coming directly from its forehead and what looked like a tattoo of the sun on its flank.

"H...help me" was all I could manage to say before I blacked out.
