Inked Quill was a not-so-popular writer in Ponyville. At the moment he was struggling with taxes and was getting little to no money from his books so he was trying his hardest to get another job. Every night he prayed to Celestia, asking her to help him with his work and let his books sell so he can keep his home.
His prayers were never answered.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!!
Quill's alarm clocked blared through his tiny house. He groaned and slammed his hoof on the clock, stopping the now insufferable beeping. "Dammit. Another day for me to be a failure." Quill was never enthusiastic about his life and how he rarely succeeded. This was probably brought on by the fact his parents never truly accepted their son as a writer. Lazily he sat up in his bed and scanned his tired eyes around the room. His bed in the right corner right next to it was his desk and his tool of the trade, his typewriter. Stacks of paper lined the desk and walls with all of his failed attempts.
Living in a house surrounded by failure.. maybe losing the place wasn't such a bad idea.
In the left corner was a tiny closet, with very little clothing in it and stacks of books on the closet floor. At the foot of his bed was a see-through cabinet filled with papers from publishing companies that rejected his work, another keepsake of his uncountable failures.
"Let's just start the day." Quill said as he rose from his bed and stretched. He exited his room peering into his tiny home, in front of him was his living room lined with a shoddy couch, a flimsy coffee table and in front of that was a TV on a stand. Behind the couch was a large window which was covered by tan shades that the sunlight danced and rippled throughout, casting their beautiful glow upon the room. To his right was his kitchen. The kitchen and living room was separated by a dividing wall that stopped half way up to the ceiling but had a large opening for him to enter the kitchen.
His kitchen held the normal stove, refrigerator, sink and oven. These appliances where against the wall and above them were cabinets. He also had a table and two chairs in the center of his kitchen, which in all honesty haven't been used in quite some time. Finally to his left was a door that led to his bathroom. He turned and trotted to the bathroom door. It was a small bathroom, opposite from the door a shower and tub combo occupied the entire wall, to the left was the sink and medicine cabinet that was also a mirror and opposite to that was the toilet.
He trotted to the mirror and gazed at his reflection. He had a brown, short and messy mane, Its made even messier from the fact he just woke up. His coat was a light tan color and his eyes were a lovely green, and his cutie mark was a Quill and a bottle of ink, implying his expertise was in writing. Although he was heavily doubted that at the time.
"Crap, Well I should clean myself up and visit Twilight Sparkle." Twilight Sparkle was a good friend of his and has helped him through some rough times. She normally doesn't sell books at the library but she made an exception to sell his books there since he was in a huge rut. He knew that ponies visited the library daily and rented out books.
He cleaned himself up, grabbed his black fedora hat and his watch, put them both on and left to go see Twilight. Luckily Twilight didn't live to far from him, So he arrived within minutes of leaving. He knocked on the door and waited patiently for Twilight to answer. Moments later the purple mare opened the door with a bright smile.
"Inked Quill! great to see you again, come in!" She greeted him stepping out of the way to let the stallion in.
"Thanks, Twilight. How are you?"
"Good, Good. You?"
"Wish I could say the same. Just please tell me I sold something? Or anything? I'm running off savings right now which, isn't much." Twilight paused for a minute as the stood in the main room of the library. The silence killed the poor stallion.
"I'm sorry Inked Quill but..."
Twilight didn't even finish her sentence before Inked Quill screamed "FUCK, FUCK! DAMN YOU CELESTIA!!" he stomped violently as he screamed.
"Inked Quill! Now Stop that! No need for such language! Please, just calm down."
"CALM DOWN?! CALM THE FUCK DOWN?!" He paused for a moment and returned with a strange tone, he was trying to calm down "Do you realize that selling these books are my last hope for keeping a house, getting food and necessities for living an even semi-happy life?" he said walking up to Twilight who was backing away from him.
"Look, I-If worse comes to worse and you do lose your home, you're always welcome here." She said and she bumped into a wall, Inked Quill was nearly on top of her.
"I- I... No." Hes said backing away from Twilight.
"Really! You're always welcome here, besides I couldn't stand to see you on the streets."
"No. If I do lose my house I won't mooch off my friends." Inked Quill was too modest to do that.
"Mooching? No, it won't be mooching!"
Inked Quill remained silent.
"I just can't accept it Twilight. It's nothing against you or anypony." Quill said walking over to the door.
"Inked, Don't go!" Twilight said walking behind the disgruntled stallion. He paid her no attention to and left her home.
"INKED!! COME BACK!" Twilight called out, but Quill never turned back.
-----
"Dammit... Now what the fuck am I going to do?" he mumbled to himself almost incoherently. He wasn't watching where he was walking and as a consequence he bumped into another pony. They both fell to the ground.
"Ugh! Hey!" He said as he rubbed his head and fixing his hat. "Watch where the hell you're going yah dumb-ass po- Zebra?" He looked in front of him to see the creature he collided with was a Zebra.
"I'm sorry for this." The Zebra said.
"Oh, no problem." He said as he rose from the ground.
"You seem upset, Maybe Zecora can put your problems to rest?"
"Probably not Miss. Zecora. Unless you can launch my writing career, you can't help."
"If it's writing assistance you need, Then I have a potion that will help indeed!"
"What?! Really?! That's awesome!"
"It is indeed, Now just follow me and we can finish this potion brewing deed." Zecora said as she started walking in the direction of the Everfree Forest.
"I must ask one thing, What would your name happen to be?"
"O-Oh, I'm Inked Quill. Nice to meet you Zecora."
"Now stay close behind for the Everfree Forest is where my home resides."
"The Forest? Well alright then..." Inked Quill said hesitantly as he followed the zebra into the dark depths of the forest.
