Whatever happened

I stared at the decrepit ceiling above, mold made the ceiling as green as the forest that I had been immersed in for quite a long time. It didn’t bother me though, I gave up on caring years ago. I rolled out of bed falling two feet to the wood below. I stood and stared at the unvarnished wood below me. Like everything else, I gave up on caring not because I didn’t know how to varnish wood but simply because I had no money. I parted the hanging sheets that was my door. looking at the small generator I kept outside under a homemade woven canopy of fallen leaves. It powered the only light bulb of my home and the old TV and VCR which I only used to watch the last recorded episodes of a “cartoon” called “My little Pony Friendship Is Magic” but that's it. The colors calmed me when I felt overwhelmingly alone. I looked around, surveying the area. Birds were chirping and a squirrel came and dropped a nut at my feet, but otherwise nothing. I’m not sure why they thought I was friendly, even though I was, they didn’t know that, Maybe they sensed it.

I let out a heaving sigh and thanked the squirrel, and walked up to the patch of mint just outside of my home. It was a special mint that my father had made back when he to was alive, but now since he’s gone it only makes sense for me to use it. No matter how much of it was used or how cold it got it continued to grow, leaving a beautiful tint of mint to the cold air; I picked some, the minty smell becoming evermore pungent.

I built a fire out of the last bit of flint I had and as the fire roared, crackling from the wood I had fed it. I couldn’t help but remember a story that my mother had read to me as a child. I walked down to the river, It wasn’t a long walk. It was filled with a variety of fish but I never once had I tried to catch them. I never had eaten fish or meat, for fear that I would extinguish a life, just like they had extinguished mine. I put my pot inside the river, bubbles gurgled up from it. I walked back to my home and hold the pot above the fire awaiting for it to boil, and slowly dropped the mint inside.

When it was ready I walked back inside and grabbed an old mug. It was one of the only things I continued to clean. I walked back to the fire and let the boiling liquid fall into the mug and used the rest of it to extinguish the fire. I grabbed the tree nearest my “home” with one hand on the mug and climbed it quickly. I jumped onto the old roof of my “home” not a single drop of the liquid fell. The tin groaned as I landed on it, as it had many times before. I put my hand on the cold metal and sipped the bitter sweet liquid. It was just early enough to catch the sunrise. I felt the rays of warm light warm my brown hair. I looked down at my light brown skin the light reflecting off of it. The rays of light made life return to my grey eye’s making them seem silver, or so I was told. It was one of the two highlights of my day,

for any day.

As the sky began to change color I let out another sigh, It was time for school. I changed to my only other pair of clothes, they smelled deeply of mint and made with I could only presume to be cotton. It was the most boring shade of color, grey. I couldn’t leave without a taking a bath. I returned to the river and went inside, letting the frozen water lick my frozen body and rubbed the pieces of mint that I had picked. I finished letting myself dry in the cold air, before returning home.

I climbed another tree. dropping several of the overly-large leaves. I dropped, rolling on the ground as I hit, covered my home, and departed.

I travelled through the trees running though their green leaves, as If they were paved streets. I passed many animals all staring at me but not giving any look of disappointment. I traveled for about half an hour and I started to see where the trees began to turn grey, A 9 foot fence suddenly materialized before me. The city was supposed to be invisible but I new my way by now, not like it was hard to distinguish from grey to green. The buzzing reminded me of the bees that these people were so afraid of. I looked at the city within, grey. Grey cement, grey cars, grey buildings, and even a cloudy sky. I used one of the trees and jumped onto the other side of the fence. falling a good ten feet before I reached the cement ground of the alley. I rolled and stood up in the alley, and started my boringly grey life....

As I reached the end of the darkened alley I stopped checking for any other people to pass before I exited it. Nothing I walked slowly trying to fit the rest of the cities strides. Several cars passed, I also came to find independent repair bot's that seemed to roam the streets at night, maybe they were hoping on catching me.

This "city" as I came to know it was just varying shades of grey. No colors at all broke all these poor citizens allthough some are "Happy" on the out side they are forced to do so and even than even the most blind person could see that that was so.

I reached a grey electronic billboard showing a hooded man in grey that only slightly contrasted the grey from the looming skyscrapers. It was me, not that anybody knew, since my face was covered by a black hood. The picture changed and now showed the words regulate.

“Hey Mike!” I heard a gruff voice behind me Crap.

“Hey Bastion!” I replied not being indifferent to the husky guy behind me, as I turned around with a fake expression of surprise. He was supposed to be my “friend” but none of these people were. I had lost my friends quite sometime ago. The people like bastion were unaware of the color.

We walked to school together another grey structure that was simply shadowed by the demonic looking sky scrapers.

We walked In

“Ummmmm..... Hi” I saw a girl blush as she walked passed me. I didn’t know why they did this. They always say that I’m “handsome” and “good looking”. I was semi well built and stood awkwardly out at 5” 8’ everybody else was a tad bit shorter than me. I had those boring grey eye’s. I didn’t see it the way almost all the girls seemed to , I gave a mental scoff. I wasn’t anywhere near perfect and I knew it. I didn’t want to fix any of them because trying to be perfect would be in imperfection unto itself

I didn’t reply, I was way to shy to say anything even though deep down to my greying core I was a outgoing guy. This only made her giggle as she continued to flush an even deeper crimson. I kept walking to my grey locker and put in my locker combo 12-65-99 I took out my “Science of Grey” book and started my grey day.

---------------------------------

I felt myself blush as I stared at her, she was so beautiful. Her eyes were blue and gave me hope about a better day. Her hair reminded me of the sunset I loved so much. and she herself was a perfect jewel. It was lunch and I had been staring at her in the quiet cafeteria. Shit

Her eye’s connected with mine and I felt myself flush an even deeper shade of red. She stood up not bothering to wave off her friends, and started towards me. I got up to but I decided to walk outside of the cafeteria when I felt something warm on my shoulder. I turned back and I was face to face with her.

“Mike..” She began almost pleading to me to say. was quick to shake her off. My heart longed for her, but if she were to get involved she would get hurt. That would drive me insanity and I knew it. I walked out giving her one last pleading look that matched hers

“Sorry........ Kema” was all I said, and once again my heart, broke.

--------------------------------

I reached into the deeper recesses of my locker. I made sure that nobody was around and took out a black box. I put in the combination 98-23-24-34-56-34-65-56-01 their was a barely audible click and pulled out one of the crimson hoodies. I put it on making sure the hood covered my face but, as I walked through the grey corridors of the school. I passed a picture of Kema and I as King and queen of the school. my cheeks were more grey in the picture. Why I let out a sigh.

I was intelligent I passed every test, every assignment was easy, for me. The teachers weren't really surprised by it anymore. I was strong enough to play every sport and agile enough for me to go under suspicion. Everybody liked me which explains the king not like it mattered though I had no power here. I continued on my way it was dark not because it was night but clouds above made it that way.

I climbed on the nearest skyscraper feeling the wind on my dangling legs felt good. I propelled myself onto a shorter building and ran across the cold surface.

I was the last color, Red. All of my real friends were gone Orange,Green,Yellow.Blue.Indigo,Violet. The last survivors of the Blotch. A political entity that believes that all things should be regulated. That arrived here the year I was born.

They have been dead for some time now. I saw them get ripped apart from the helicopters guns. killed by explosives. I had heard that Orange got murdered in his sleep. It was my job to keep the memory alive, I took out my remaining paint can and began to run. I ran atop the buildings my sneakers squeaking as they hit some of the polished cement. I dropped onto buildings and burst through windows causing as much havoc as I could as I dragged my brush along the walls and floors. As made the next jump glass covering me as I flew dropping ever more down a level. I saw a helicopter.

I burst through a window, almost every shard cutting into my skin at the exposed parts of my body the lights of the helicopter continued to track my movements as it continued to blast rounds in the places I had just been. I was in an office building and reached another window, I jumped out and into the next building. This was my way of protesting. I passed many people they all tried to stop me not wanting to harm them I simply slit under their legs of ran up the walls to avoid them. I was intelligent and could see movement from a mile away.

My time was up as a ringer began from the sweater. I was running out of time I had five minutes to reach the outskirts of town before the sweater disintegrated. The helicopter was still firing rounds into the buildings and as I hopped from building to building I reached the edge of town where the alley was.

I reached the ground floor slowly slipping off my sweater as I dodged rounds from the approaching helicopter. The helicopter continued to tear at the cement behind me not trying to kill me but hurt me.
A bit of shrapel from the cement pierced my flesh deep im my calf. I tried to run on it but collapsed.

I hit the ground only a few feet away from the alley entrance. The chopper blades began to slow as it hit the ground. The lights turned off and a figure stepped outside. He gave me a wicked smile. Graiden

“So it seems we’ve caught Red” He said in a blank tone. He gave an awkward laugh as if trying to suppress his emotions. He walked closer and I tried to crawl on my back, but it was to late. He stomped his leg on my injured foot. I cried in pain but did not whimper. He walked kto my sweater and tossed it to me

“Put it on!” he demanded, but in midair it disintigrated making only ash fall upon me. He pulled out a small fire arm and aimed it directly for my head

“STOP!” the voice was sweet, No please, stop I cried mentally, It was her......Kema.
he raised his gun to her not hesitating to pull the trigger and fired twice.

The world around us exploded in brilliant hues. My head began to throb making a new pain start. He fell to the ground dropping the gun. the world began to fade...... or at least it looked like it was and I finally blacked out.................

my life had lost meaning for that moment....

As I to lost hope.......

I was lost.......

and

so.....

was she........

my heart had finally succumb to the grey......

bye.....

-----------------------------

Once before he was here and before this city was grey. Thier used to be other places. Just like the city here they were large and had big skyscrapers but they had many different colors. They lived in peace but things started to change.

Some colors didn’t agree and they became corrupted by their beliefs.

Metal eggs fell from the sky and many of the colors were demolished leaving only grey remains. Red was smart enough to send a group of people to an unknown Island and that’s where we are today.

His mom smiled at him before giving him a kiss on his forhead, and she left the room.

------------------------------

“I need you to get something from the cellar” He handed me a bit of paper and pushed me in the cellar. It was dark and scary but I continued down the stairs following the dim light of the single light bulb. The door shut above I heard some scraping up above and finally it went silent, I began to cry.

“DAD!” I cried but as I walked into the light I opened the piece of paper

HI son

sorry

We have to go, don’t look for us and wait till it goes real quiet before you leave the cellar. Don’t cry we’ll always be with you....... in your heart

the paper was wet with tears.

above me were two loud bangs followed by two thuds and then the sound of something being dragged along the floor.

------------------------------

I opened my eye’s their was no pain in my leg. I was....in the forest? Was it a dream? it didn’t seem to be. Yet nothing could explain this. He stared at the forest

I looked all around. It was dark, but this was a forest and it had color I immediately headed for a tree to climb in it for cover but I found myself unable to feel my fingers to climb it’s oaken sides. Wierd I gave up and walked in the forest. I came accross many animals that hid from me. why? I kept walking blindly in the dark forest when I heard some noise. Something …..Joyous?

I followed the noise it became louder, and louder untill I got to a town. My mouth was agape color. It filled my eye’s with tears as I saw it pink, blue, orange, yellow, cyan, indigo, purple, and many more I could not name.

My mouth began to water unintentionally as my nose caught a wiff of something sweet. And the lights were coming from a tree in the distance. My heart dropped I recongnized this place.

This was

Chapter 2 Running with Rainbows

By Roberto Olmos

The moist of the cloud

refuses to fall down here

For this is depression.

-Roberto Olmos Antonio Gonzalez Will Jr.

My heart plunged, something inside me knew that this, was real. It was far to vivid to be a dream. Even if it was things didn’t change, they stayed the same even looking away at them for long periods of time through my blurred eye’s. My heart finnaly hit rock bottom as I remembered Kema. She was dead their was no way she had lived from that. I grabbed my head but felt myself collapse on the floor. That’s when I finnally saw my hands. They were gone, now replaced by two fingerless hooves. I didn’t care however I began to roll on the grass below me as salty tears fell from my eye’s. I was filled with dread, surprise, anger. The emotions were so overwhelming I felt my soul being ripped apart from my guilt. For I had tried everything to keep her from harms way, tried to keep her from remembering, but it was all for nought just I had expected it was not meant to be. I had had enough everybody I knew and cared for are gone.

I felt myself slipping.................

slipping...........

Into greyness.........

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

“ ummm Mike..... I just wanted to say that I love you”. My cheeks felt woefully hot. It was the fifth day since I broke our relationship. Doing so made us a new center of attention I spotted many familiar faces in the group that surrounded us. I managed to pry my vision from her beautiful blue eye’s. I said nothing but it was obvious that I felt the same way for her. She turned my head bringing her face to face with me once again.

“ Do you love me?” She asked making the last word linger in the air. Her eye’s began to water becoming ever more red. I said nothing the skin on my face began to burn. It hurt, not my skin but for the feelings that I felt for her, and more specifically the feelings that I couldn't share for her. My heart was pounding as hard as it always was when I saw her.
“Well?” She was pleading now, streams of tears fell anew on her beautiful cheeks. She removed her hands from my face, raised it and brought it down hard against my face.

I stood and took it all, every single slap making my skin turning an even deeper crimson. I hoped that she drew blood. I deserved it.

“I want to here you say it” She was screaming at me, but I remained silent.

She turned around and began to run, people began separating for her to leave. Meanwhile everybody stared, sharing looks of disapproval. I gave, not because they disapproved, but because I couldn't bear to lose another.

I ran to her grabbing her by the hand and brought her in for a close embrace. She smelled beautifully

“Don’t ever doubt that I do” I said in a low whisper. I moved her in closer the heat of our bodies felt so right. Her lips were so warm and smooth. I kissed her passionately It wasn’t long before she caught on. I stopped the kiss and turned

“Sorry”

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

It’s been three days since I really moved from this spot. I’ve done nothing but lay on this grey grass under the torturing canopy of grey leaves. Occasionally I’d lap the dew off of the grey grass. Occasionally I’d cry, giving loud rasping sobs in between tears. All the while the day passed not caring for my loss.

I stared aimlessly at a meadow not to far away. It was filled with grey dandelions. They swayed as the light breezed licked at them. Some times they would be plucked from the ground and found themselves not to far from me. My body longed for these because they would now be my sustenance. I’d eat them knowing that they would extend my torture.

I heard laughing occasionally, but I paid no attention to them as they sounded distorted from the tunneled hearing I was experiencing.

For the first time in my life I could say that I had finally embraced the grey. I missed the colors but now knew that only grey would fill my life and heart.

An image was pushed into my mind, It was Kema in a grey photo wearing a grey hoodie that I kept in my locker, she was smiling.....

I felt a sudden warmth start from the tip of my muzzle as I started to remember things

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Red get over here!” I looked over to see a beautiful figure to my far right. Her blonde hair falling straight onto her shoulders and pouring over dramatically onto her back.

“Well hello Orange having a nice day aren’t we.” I replied sarcastically to the leering blue eye’s.

“Oh shut up dude” She punched my arm and I returned the the favor, although much softer. We were in Violets underground cellar looking around at the gathered electronics. Red,blue, green, white and tan cords were hung unsurprisingly from the ceiling. Working color tv’s were strewn about the floor among the other electronic do-hickey’s. She knew a hell of a lot more than I did. I was proud to say that I was second smartest to her and by a long shot by that.

“No need to fight, we’re just waiting on Yellow here” I looked towards a pile of multicolored clothes as Green popped up. With a pile of the multicolored clothes. I could say that he was a better looker than me and considering we all went to the same school he was first best. While I a close second, because after all he did make his own grey clothes.

“Indigo get out here!” Orange called. He crawled out from a pile of mother boards on the floor and came up with a pile that looked comically of a fruit hat on his head. He gave us a big smile and laughed heartily even though he had the smallest frame from all of us.

“Sorry, but how much longer before....” Blue was than scared out of her skin as something fell from the hole in the ceiling above. I was shy but this was ridiculous.

“Sorry guys” He fell with the most dramatic thump in the world. causing the littered grey floor below us to groan. He was especially heavy, not that he was fat ,but he was extremely buff. he wasn’t very limber whoever that was bestowed on Orange my most closest friend.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh! Violet shushed from behind a wooded desk working with small objects on the table.

“We’re in this together” The silence that proceeded almost deafened me as even Indigo calmed his rant.

“You and I are the last ones,to see the glowing spectra of the world. Just like all of the world before us. Things have changed, and only we see color. The color that itself brings hope happiness and deeper emotion. I’ll be damned to be placed in that office just like my parents.” She gave a pause before continuing

“They come home everyday don’t even give me a damned ‘hello’ but It’s time that we changed that. Not just for me but every other living being that inhabits this godforsaken piece of shit we call ‘home’. It’s time that we let them see. It’s time we did our best to change the future and in the future change the past” She started to tear from her eye’s

“Now ‘Friends’ do you wish to help me and seek a new and colorful future. Or do wish to continue in meaningless lives that will inevitably kill us all.” We all nodded

“Will you follow me until our last drop of blood is painted on the walls around us? Will you follow me knowing you will die? Will you follow me until your heart turns grey?” We stopped nodding and stood silently. I turned to Orange who was having an internal argument I could tell because she had a screwed up look about her. I thought about it, looking at the colors around us It was nice and I wished that people could see it.

“Yes,” I walked up to Violet and stood in front of her and embraced my friend and managed to move behind her.

“Yes,” Orange walked up to her again giving her a hug before finding a spot on my right. I stared ahead and not to her making the moment a lot more dramatic. One by One our friends stood behind her. We stood there looking at the figure ahead of us, our leader, Violet.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I felt the heat reach my core. My eye’s began to register color again. I felt my eye’s grow warmer and my feature giving me what I suspected to be a smile. I could hear now, and heard the wooshing of the wind. It sounded unnatural however but I couldn't care less and considering I was in this new world, I couldn't complain. I knew that needn’t give up if I still had the memories of them. I stood on my hooves stretching my forelegs.

The whooshing became unsettlingly loud. Suddenly the clearing exploded as a Cyan figure fell dishearteningly fast into the golden dandelions. I stood quickly and galloped toward the dandelion field.

When I reached her however she was already getting up from her unbelievable fall and dusted herself off. I continued to approach when she looked in my direction. Her rose eye’s now giving me a dreadful scowl. I gulped

“Who are you?” She began to walk toward me and I felt myself back-up looking into her deathly eye’s.

“Are you a spy?” Her voice was becoming aggressive the surrounding noises fell silent as if expecting a dead person.

I wanted to say no but I was startled as I hit something solid. I looked back quickly, It was the same tree that I had been under. My indentation in the grass still visible and hard packed.

I looked back but she was already almost face to face with me. She extended her wings in a sudden motion and I found myself pinned to a tree and a hard place.

“Well it’s nice to meet you to miss.” I felt my lips react, the words were loaded with heavy sarcasm as I felt my talkative side ooze out in desperation. She obviously didn’t expect these words but her scowl was not leaving her face.

“I’m new” I said giving a small rebuttal to my past statement.

“From where?”She lifted a brow raising it surprisingly high.

“Trottingham” as I remembered the only place outside of ponyville from the Nightmare Night episode.

“Oh” she she retracted her wings and blushed slightly

“sorry bout that, but could you not....you......know tell anybody I crashed. Her features were softening but her muzzle continued to frown.

“Why are you out here anyways?” I felt pretty much trapped in this corner for the moment but I had to stop lying eventually right?

“You see things aren’t really....” I was cut off

“Anyways what’s your name?” She didn’t seem to have interrupted me on purpose, but even if she had I really couldn't do anything about it.

What was my name anyways? I new that it was Michael due to some thing that my dad found in some uncensored history book. Yet what would it be here I knew that the names here were strangely uncanny so I just gave her the first thing that came to mind.

“Angelo” I guess she was trying to figure out what my name meant but as I tried to contemplate it, she asked another question.

“What are you supposed to do?” She was pointing at my flank since it was the first real time looking at my back I saw that I was just an earth pony nothing more nothing less my coat was a light red that looked nothing of pink and I had a brown mane judging by my tail but on my flank however. Was a white human sneaker with the initials FRR in bold and dark letters. It had a red lighting bolt with Autumn leaves dancing happily about it. Yet the most peculiar for me was the fact they they had large red wings on it.

I smile crept on my face for the first time in three days. I looked back and saw some of the lower hanging branches of the tree. I jumped almost hugging the the branches as I made my way up to the dense canopy above. She tried fruitlessly to stop me but It was way to late.
I jumped on to the surprisingly dense foliage. I ran on top of it occasionally making errors due to my new body but I couldn’t care less.

A Rainbow suddenly flashed to my left causing me to flinch and almost miss my next step. It dashed to my right trying to bash me off of the foliage but I knew better I jumped over her. She circled her way back to me. of course I was no where near as fast as her but I could dodge whatever she could do to me.

Every single dodge could make her visibly more aggravated. I eyed the town of Ponyville that I had been running on the canopy around.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

It’s not like you’ve ever ran before, It’s the same thing just that this time you have to break some windows!” Orange called from the other side of the building. She had become very adept to running on top of the grey abyss below but I guess if she could do it I could lag slightly behind her.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

The hay was surprisingly solid. From below I could see hooves being pointed toward me. I shrugged it off considering I was probably the first Runner ever. I jumped onto a precariously placed pink building which felt made my mouth water. The smell was so sweet I lost my concentration and Rainbow Dash came down and scooped me up. I was pulled so abruptly that I snapped back and I felt myself falling.
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Shhhhhiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt. I missed the stupid jump. I felt myself accelerate approaching the cement wall below.

“Rooollll” was all I heard I hit the ground with an audible thump and tucked myself in and rolled. It hurt considering I fell five stories I could tell that I at least bruised my rib and twisted my left ankle but thankfully I was alive.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I hit the ground rolling, I fell the equivalent of 6 human stories from Rainbow Dash’s grab. I looked up and gave her a big wide grin, before taking off to the under brush of the surrounding trees.

I awaited her to come down as I predicted she would to look for me. as she closed her wings I came out from the underbrush and approached her. I gave her a big hug, her I felt myself blush.

“Thanks, for making my day” I said in a low whisper after holding the hug for so long

VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

I stared at the the moon, the darkening sky made it fit in so perfectly. As I stared, I felt myself glow with anticipation of the new day tomorrow. I planned to go in town, not as a runner but a regular pony, as it may be. I felt my eye’s close as they became sleepy from the advancing darkness of sleep. I smiled at the prospect of meeting with dash another day because even though no at first I new that we had both had our fun.

It was nice to fall asleep..........

on a high note...........

looking at the moon in the the dense canopy of the tree............

but better than that.......

We all had went are seprate way’s after our last drop of green’s paint was spent. I looked at the canvases that had once been the grey buildings covered in beautiful and intricate drawings of colored angels.

The helicopter had stopped chasing us in it’s attempts to keep the civilians from looking up. That plan however was in vain, As they looked up at the picture. It may have been grey in their eye’s but it was different. That is what we aimed for and we wanted to keep it that way.

I managed to climb the building and across the fence and in to the grey canopy below.

-Roberto Olmos Antonio Gonzalez Will Jr.

I peeled open my eye’s greedily as I felt the warmth of the new day. I looked around instinctively, but that I realized where I was. The sky had a beautiful blue tint with a line of orange cutting intrusively upon it while still keeping it’s mysterious glow. Clouds dotted the sky in all directions and in all different heights I turned back to the orange latitude, I rubbed my eye’s as I saw the orange line distort a bit. I shook it off and looked at the new day ahead of me. I looked back and saw the small town in the distance. It would be my next destination.

Since I was “new” here I could start my new life . I could work, and make friends. The last thought lingered for a bit causing it to resonated distractingly in my soul. Friends deep in my mind I knew two things. One, I would never exactly fit in, seeing how the ponies in the show reacted positively to almost everything thrown at them made me cringe a bit. Two that making friends with Rainbow Dash could only mean consequentially following from the others. Yet the thought that made my mind ache the most would be the fact that I would never find love mentally, although my body could betray me physically.

I fell through the folliage hitting the ground expertly with all four hooves making the sound of the rusting leaves beg for an encore. I stared at the surrounding trees it was just light enough to see pairs of animal eye’s look through bushes and from tree branches. They could tell that I wasn’t from around here but they had all started to slowly make their way across to me.

I got down on my haunches and reached out to one of them with my hoof. They recoiled instantaneously before hiding back into the shadows. I let out a loud sigh as I found myself doing it to a lot to animals, but it wasn’t their fault. As far as I knew I was the one to blame.

As I walked to the brightening forest I found myself greeted by more animals who had the same response. My stomach growled loudly all of a sudden causing me to flinch from the sharp pain that found itself eating me inside. I continued to walk in the direction that I saw the town. I began to see the denseness of the foliage evaporate and I could see the sky above which was all ready taking a much lighter blue compared to the ones from earlier.

I felt my hooves clop the hard rock beneath me somewhat surprisingly as I had just been trotting across the soft and silent grass. I looked onward to the modestly placed and rainbow colored buildings ahead. I saw that not many ponies were up and working, but those who were, but more specifically those who did not have a squared jaw were lifting their hooves at me giggling unashamedly at me. They were all blushing. Not again

I sat in the first row closest to my lecturing teacher. Sitting in the small room made me yearn for the greenness of the outside world . He was talking about the “real” history of the founding father, Graiden. I felt my self cringe and twitch at the mention of his name. Yet I wasn’t concentrated on that. I found my attention to the sounds coming from behind me giggling. It got so bothersome that I looked back with an overly warm smile, to keep from signalling my agitation. The moment my eye’s fell on one of the girls behind me they looked away not bothering to cover their deepening faces.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

My mouth began to water unintentionally snapping me back from my flashback. Aside from the oddly colored blushes of these ponies. Another thing was bothering me hunger. The smell was delicious as my mouth felt like it was dropping waterfalls of saliva.

I followed the scent coming to the pink building that had cunfuzzled me before. This “Bakery” was billowing the scent before me. Yet there was something more important inside, Pinkie Pie.

I opened the door to the bakery which had a “Help wanted sign” on the front As I pushed through the door I was met by the happy figure of Mrs.Cake

“Well I haven’t seen you around these parts” She gave me a small smile, I tried not to answer her but instead looked at colorful goods assorted on the table. My mouth was watering more than before. I began to clear my mind and instead looked at the humble shop. The entire house was two floors from what I could see. On this floor was a kitchen but the floor above sat apologetically as an unfinished balcony that seemed to fit the goofiness of this world.

My eye’s moved back to the blue pony,

“I was kind of wondering,,,,,,If I could work here?” My voice was rather quite. I tried to make it a way to dismiss my original behavior.

Her eye’s brightened up and she took out a bit of paper and a small pencil ( a yellow that seemed oddly glossy compared to the ones back there).

“Of course but I need to know your name first” She brought the paper down down to the paper with her mouth.

“It’s Angelo Ma’am” I said a little louder getting a little more comfortable with her bright speech. She wrote her slowly red mane bouncing oddly from right to left.

She dropped the pen and moved over to a wooden and cylindrical object that sat modestly on one of the table and sat on her haunches.

I was about to ask what she was doing when a sudden rumbling came from the floor above. At first I thought it was some sort of bad thing but suddenly a pink blur erupted from the door. It tumbled down the steps and now found itself giggling incessantly. It was Pinkie

She gave a drew in a large breath before disappearing back into what I could suppose to be her room. She came back just as fast as before but this time she came back with something on her back, a string swaying pointlessly to one side. The question was forming on my lips but suddenly she burst out in song.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, I fine welcome to you.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, I say how do you do

Welcome, welcome, welcome, I say hip hip hooray!

Welcome, welcome, welcome, to Ponyville today!

She pulled the string that hung off the contraption causing multicolored pieces
of paper like material to erupt from it with a loud snap. Honestly I could say that I was at least startled, yet that didn’t stop the smile that she purposely caused.

“Well I haven’t seen you around here, what’s your name!” She was positively gleaming with positive energy.

I couldn't really say anything whether it was my nervousness or the pure shock of the moment was beyond me. Something grew in my stomach and If had felt this feeling so much before the moment you talk to somebody new. My mind lingered on the last thought somebody well I guess if I am in a new world I could get used to using somepony.

“Hello?” She had gotten really close. She raised up a hoof and brought it to the side of my head, It clopped loudly.

“Guess not.” She backed up her mane deflating a bit.

“Who’s there?” I felt my body go on by itself. I was still tense but I felt my body starting to loose a few notches. She smiled immediately her mane inflating dramatically as she fell back laughing.

“Guess not.” I said making a fake frown, as I tried to pass the joke across. She got up using her hoof to wipe the tears from her pink eye’s.

“Well you gonna start working? Or will I have to wait till one of you starts blowing up.” Mrs. Cake finishing the moment quite seriously. In my mind I could see her thinking Not another one.

We were working in the kitchen. Well at least she was and I was washing the piles of dirty oven pans that were strewn about. She turned on a rather noisy “Egg Beater”, then turned to a “Blender” and pressed a hoof against a big red button that was on the base of it.

“Well I never got your name, My name is Pinkie Pie by the way!” She was practically yelling halfway across the room where the sink sat.

“Angelo!” I yelled to her. As I used the cloth to rub pieces of “Pastries” that were stuck to them. The job wasn’t to demanding, If anything it just was just time consuming.

“How do you like it here, I saw you yesterday but I really didn’t get the chance to meet you!” She was now pouring heaping loads of a white powder into a “Bowl.”

“Haven’t really done much but I’ll do something eventually!” I brought up the plate carefully making sure that I could balance it in my almost gripless hooves.

“What’s up with your eye’s!?” She turned off the machines when she finished the sentence. The room was now filled with awkwardness that emanated from me. After a long pause I answered.

“What’s wrong with them?” There was a slight crack in the sentence. It made me jump a bit and considering all the horrors I’d seen I questioned my body’s purpose for doing so.

“Well nothing really, they just remind me of the friend that was chasing you yesterday. I took a moment to contemplate that. So their colored.............. like ….......a …...Rainbow? I turned wanting to be face-to-face by for the explanation.

“Nothin’ I was just born that......” My mouth was suddenly full of something so familiar that brought horror to me, sugar. Her entire hoof had shot into my mouth making me unable to breathe or back up as I found myself pinned to the sink. I’m not sure how she materialized in front of me but I was scared. I started to chew on the thing. Having to swallow it so she could remove her hoof.

She removed her hoof from my mouth.

“Good, Huh!” She was giggling. My eye’s were tearing As I remembered what would happen next. The taste of the sweetness only killed me in the inside and I slowly felt my consciousness.......going.

I managed to groan out a No. The world seemed to throw-up rainbow goop on my eye sight.

going.........................

gone.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I stared at Indigo as he sat from behind the kitchen sink. He was smiling brightly as he popped a small sparkly cube in his mouth. I looked down to my red sweater, the timer not yet set.

“What are those supposed to be?” I didn’t really want to ask the question but he really looked like he was enjoying himself. He held out his hand bringing a single cube to me. He reached over various bottles of chemicals.

“Just made them” His smile only seemed to grow, his eye’s beaming a light that I suspected could only be brought by him.

He hung there for a second.

“Fine well I guess you don’t want It” He pulled the cube back swiftly popping it into his mouth. His moaned ecstatically as his eye’s rolled back.

“Fine Bro.” I sighed out. He threw one of them to me and caught it in my mouth.

My mouth was watering from the initial taste. It was so sweet my cheeks began to hurt. I wanted another but something didn’t feel right.

He frowned

“Bro” he began but I felt my eye sight fading and I was terrified.
The world slowly turned to a colorful goop.

Running Away From Shadows

by Nine

-Subsection Reconiciliono

The companion that

Will forever follow you,

At least until night

Authors note: well it seems that Nine has made a very disturbing chapter and in hindsight of reading it it makes sense for the plot. However seriously this shit is bucked up.

anyways

this chapter is really long it is probably it is the longest time I’ve had to sit down and type

So on with the story

On another note Ragen didn’t go over this to long

he was freaking raging about what the contents of the chapter were. So their might be some mistakes and what not but Nine promises a select few of small bits and pieces like this.

So really back to the story

Lastly If you don't like gore don't read this chapter their will be a brief synopsis at the end of the chapter to "Sugarcoat things"

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

“Well, I guess this is...” I couldn’t finish the sentence, I went into a fit of coughing. My blood sprayed at each gasp that I did as I tried to control my ever shallowing breaths. The pain in my exhausted body was to great.

I was pinned face down only my arm, upper chest and head poked out from the pile of rubble that I was stuck under. The ringing from the explosion hadn’t completely died out yet.

Yellow fared much better his humongous mass pinned under smaller slabs of concrete than me. He however had the misfortune of having both his arms pinned beneath the concrete. He was unable to help himself out and me as we effectively were put out of commission.

We were both bleeding however how badly was questionable considering I couldn't see out of my blood filled right eye.

“Don’t say..” He stopped before taking a shallow breath, then heartily spat a small amount of blood. At least he wasn’t coughing is out like me.

“Yah, Yah” I said calmly trying to keep him from wasting his energy.

It was getting harder and harder to concentrate the world seemed to gain a shadowy sheen that I couldn’t explain, every time I blinked the world seemed to go into it’s own type of vertigo. The next time I would regain consciousness under this repressing mass on me would be my last.

I opened my left eye the world seemed indistinctly inverted. I began to speak

“I don’t...... think.....I can-”

“SHUT THE FUCK UP” his booming voice reverberated off the walls making the ringing come back; He spat out again. We went into an awkward silence.

A figure seemed to stumble just into my failing vision. He was staggering holding his side as his hand tried hold in his blood. His Indigo hoodie drenched in blood where he held. He looked torwads us giving us a bright smile.

“If I didn’t know anybody I’d say that I was your guy’s big brother.” He was all ready digging into his pocket as he stumbled closer to Yellow, popping the cursed cube into his mouth. He promptly pulled out another and stuck it into Yellows mouth.

I blinked but the change in time was evident. Yellow was all ready out.

I blinked again I was being dug out. Noises from behind.

I blinked again two grey figures from behind.

I blinked I wanted to scream.

I blinked They were on them

I blinked They pressed a machine on Indigo

I blinked struggle

I blinked Yellow down

I blinked but my vision was far off.

The next time I would open my eye I was hit by the stale but much more fresh air of the outside. Yellow was hiding in an alley for the moment. Trying to hide from the helicopter lights and more dangerously the lights that shot out from the street lights. Yellows back was tinted with my blood as it dripped from my open wound. I had no energy to say anything and even if I could, I wouldn’t. I heard a sniffle from my friend. I finally fell to rest.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

There we sat looking at the tape that was thrown at Violet’s window. The label read good bye. One of the repair robots from the city sat to work outside replacing the hazardous glass. Eventually Violet got up motioning us to follow. I looked at Orange giving her a sceptical look, Which she was questionable enough to be returned. Her beautiful blue eye’s were swollen, just like the rest of us.

I followed Violet down into the cellar she had made. We all knew we were compromised but at that moment we couldn’t care less.

She got behind her desk and pushed all the useless gadgets aside making room for the small TV she would lift up onto it. Then in a swift motion brought up a small VCR.

Play.

We stood in shock the six of us looked at the image on the screen.

There on the screen was our friend. He was hanging by his hands, blood slowly trickled from him as he was looked down to the floor. He was wearing next to nothing a small cloth covered his groin. The camera holder was going around him, showing deep gashes on his thighs and back.

Once it was done going around, the camera sat there for a moment. Suddenly Indigo started laughing slowly at first then it became maniacal and crazed. He held no smile only his mouth made the noise he looked at us pleadingly the glow from his eye’s gone as he slowly turned grey.......

The screen flickered the image changed and now a more sane version of our friend sat on it.

“Well, hi guys” His smile looked pained.

“I’m not coming back, Or more precisely I can’t” His eye’s whisked desperately back as if trying to lessen the feeling of being pushed forcibly off the cliff.

“So as you know I was caught and their ‘nice’ enough to let me send a fair well. The first thing I want to say, if and when you get this, is keep trying these ass-” He was punched by grey man on the screen.

“Keep trying to stop these mons- wait no!” The man once again stepped onto the screen but stopped mid-way as he was about to deliver a round-house to the back of Indigo’s head.”

“The recipe’s on the fridge for both of my creations” He took in a long breath.

“Don’t cry for me, that would make me sad I was brought in this world to bring smiles and cheer if you cry I’d as might as well slit my own throat because I brought somebody down.” A new look of determination washed upon his features.

“Lastly-” he began his eye’s almost as if on cue looked to me.

“Yah you, Red you can’t hide your feelings forever,” his eyes flashed rapidly to my right my heart shriveled. On my right was Orange.

The screen flickered an indisputable sorrow fell upon the room. On my left was a familiar sniffle.

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I woke up from a terrible nightmare, I pushed myself off the bed hurling fluids onto the wooden floor. I was cold, weak and unable to form full sentences. I looked around slowly the dim light in the room making my head throb. My vision managed to find a small light on the lamp. that sat on the bed side. I fell back convulsing as the distinct cold of stage 2 made me writhe pathetically. my mouth once again filled with bile but this time landing inside a small waste basket that lay next to me. My extremities were in excruciating pain as the proteins rebound themselves together. I managed to open my eyes again looking at the small pictures that adorned the walls, animals.

My eye’s adjusted enough to find a butter yellow pegasus staring at me from a newly opened door.

“Sorry.” I moaned I was so tired my mouth let out the pathetic whisper. I needed rope and fast.

“Could you please...” My throat burned but I continued.

“Bring me some rope?” The whisper was obviously heard as her blue-green eye’s became wide. My eye’s all ready becoming heavy with exhaustion. As she left the room I remembered something Blue had told me about that incident with Indigo.

You shouldn’t have taken that cube. Perhaps if it had been one of a less dangerous nature you would have been unaffected by it,but since it was Indigo who put a “special” ingredient the effects of even minor sugar will send you rampaging. At the time however I was to much in pain to care. We don’t know what will happen until your insulin levels regulate and even then you should never eat a cube ever again.

Later she told me since all the protein in my extremities were practically torn in two I couldn’t really move that much but it is a given that if you are put into major stress all that is negatable.

She came back rope-in-mouth

“Could you please, cut it into four pieces. The rope just looked long enough for me to cut it. I felt myself succumbing to the dream that would drag on my sanity. She did as she was told making me feel bad, but knowing that this was necessary.

“Please, could.....you tie me in.” She didn't move this time

“Please....” The world, like it had so many times before, faded to black. The Night mare began

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

I was strapped in a chair in a dark room the light’s began to flicker overhead. They were gently buzzing causing my alert brain to go slightly dull. The lights were flickering rapidly revealing a completely grey room I was at one side a large portion was left for me to view.

At the far end of the room six figures stood, twitching violently. At every flicker they would seem to become closer. My heart was throbbing as I tried to pull myself out of the restraints as they burned from the deepening cuts on them. I couldn’t scream my mouth seemed to be stitched shut.

With one last flicker the light died. Causing the world to fill with a disturbingly silent white noise. The light turned on completely but dimly as I saw my six “Friends” surrounded me. Except they weren’t, their faces held a pain that could only be described as anguish. they had been skinned. the blood caked on their faces. They were also grey.

I was breathing heavily in through my nose, Suddenly a drop of blood started from each one of thier chins I tried to lift my legs off the ground as the drips turned to streams that seemed to pool at my feet. When I looked back up they were gone.

Then something rubbed up against my leg.

Arms, were reaching up from the pool of blood they all had their arms around me. I tried to scream but the only noise that came came from somewhere in my mind.

“Why did you let us die?” the synchronised demonic voice of my friends chorused, but a noise was missing, but all the same sent shivers down my spine.

“Why do you smile now?” Indigo’s voice was the only one to be demonisized.

“Did you care for us?” Blue’s voice this time. It was unnaturally soft and in a bitter sweet tone.

“Did you love us?” Kema’s voice was unchanged.

I felt tears roll down my cheeks, my face screwed up in a face of anger and regret. One of the arms reached my face and rubbed the tear away. The feeling of care I felt of it drained away as its dug it’s finger in my eye.

For the first time I could open my mouth It jabbed it’s finger in the roof of my mouth and pulled me to the floor. The straps undid themselves but instead of my brain smashing agaisnt the floor it fell through the crimson blood on the floor.

I fell for what seemed like an eternity the familiar rushing of air filled my ears.

I hit what I could assume to be was water. The vertigo that swept through me was unpresidented. I tried to swim up but that direction was unclear as all the rest. I barely saw the bubbles of my mouth as they passed my face. My body was failing me. I needed air NOW. My lungs were being pieced by frozen lances. I had to let in a mouthful of water....

I awoke belly up in the pool of water. Torches off the wall suddenly sprang to life and I was horrified to find that I was not swimming in water. Blood filled the pool and as time went on grey sculls arose from the blood. At first it was two at a time but soon the waterway was now filled the bones.

I was terrified to hear a noise from behind. I managed to go upright. A creature with eight heads was wading towards me. The Humongous creature had it’s belly switched by a large mouth filled with razor shaped teeth. The cracks that erupted from it as it ate the bones was grotesque.

The current it was causing was dragging me in. I frantically tried to swim away the bones however made it impossible to do so. I looked back at the creature excepting my fate. I just hoped that It was swift.

I fell into the creatures mouth the teeth dug into my arms removing them painfully. I screamed only to have the familiar taste of iron fill it. I fell into an endless pit falling.

I opened my eye I was laying on grey grass. The sky also held a familiar shade of disgusting non-color. I had no arms my nubs were flailing full of pain as I yelled for all my sorrows and pain. The scene although grey was familiar. I was close to my home.

I got up after many painful failures and slowly started to make myself to the familiar building.

The grass was nice, It tickled my bare feet. The light was warm and it felt good against my back. I continued each step becoming closer to the house.

If this was death it was something that was disturbingly calm. I could say with all honesty that I didn’t like it.

I stood at the door way of my home reluctant to enter. Yet I was compelled to take a few more steps. The grey light of the outside suddenly died away as the door that was open suddenly closed from behind. There was faint red light coming from the door to the cellar I had once hidden under as a child.

I kicked the door open and as I tried carefully to go down the stairs every step produced a long creak from the old wood. In the middle of the cellar sat a single red flame, It was slowly flickering. I continued to go closer entranced by the beautiful light it produced. It bathed the world around it so differently from the light outside.

It flickered and finally died. I stood there unsure of what to do, but before I could take another step the light began again stronger this time. Now it bathed the entire room and as the glorious llght reached it other candles began to light bringing their own specific light to the room. The lights erupted blinding me that light was growing brighter and brighter...........

LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

My forelegs were burnt red raw. I had been sweating profusely from under the sheets. My coat was matted with the stuff.

I felt loads better, based on what I blue told........based on what happened last time it has been two days. In any case I have to set things straight with fluttershy.

I managed to use my mouth to untie the ropes and slowly got out of the bed. I noticed that the bile was gone. I knew that without Fluttershy tying me when she did both of us would be in trouble. I opened the door that I had seen Fluttershy standing in. I closed the door as silently as I could and started to find new sheets. I was stopped by the white bunny I knew as Angel.

He had his arms crossed and was impatiently thumping his leg.

“Uhhh....could you help me with somethings?” I said in a low whisper.

He stopped thumping and instead closed one of his eyes and cocked his head.

“Well I kind of want to you know... fix the room up a bit.”

He stopped and pointed to a closet at the far end of the hallway. I turned my head and began to trot towards it.

----------------------------

I wiped the now new sweat from my fore head as saw my masterpiece. The Room was completely sanitatized. The sheets were new the bed frame was positively sparkling, So were the walls I did one last inspection of the room before I headed out, but before I could leave I spotted gently breathing mound in the main room. I smiled and began to approach when Angel stepped in front of me giving me a murderous look. I smiled at him.
---------------------------

I managed to get her onto the bed I covered her and looked at her sleeping face. I had to fight off the urge to lean down and hug her. So without another word I left the room and opened the door. Took one last look inside and closed the door silently with my mouth.
