Chapter 1

Time and relative dimension in space.

It´s a curious term for a house but it fits such a curious pony. Most of Ponyville residents only known Timeturner as one of the many assistants of the Mayor, one who helps her settle her schedule and who always arrives in time, never a minute late. But a selected group of ponies know another side of him, a side that is always on the run, the side that hides a deep sadness behind a gentle smile.

The sadness of the last specimen of his kind and not even that anymore. Changed forever for the flames of time, he was now a stranger in an even stranger land. A pony with two hearts, none of them beating for a home. A lone traveller, a silent protector, a force feared across the space. Some calls him Professor, some Clockwork, many more The Doctor; but as far as he is concerned, he is content with not being called at all, just a simple wave as he moves into his next adventure.

And this adventure begins with fire...

"Crikey! That´s one way to roast a marshmallow!" The Doctor patted the little flame bird. "It is handy having a phoenix around. Celestia does know how to pick her pets."

The Doctor shared one of the marshmallows with the phoenix and gulped the rest.

"She´ll be thrilled to meet you. A blue phoenix! You´re quite an unique specimen my little friend. Literally speaking since now that your planet is destroyed, you are all alone," he realized too late he was hurting the bird with those words. "I know how you feel, all alone. But you´ll make several new friends in Equestria so don´t be that blue...blue! Hahahaha!"

The phoenix didn´t share his laughs so his voice echoed in the impossibly large room.

"Oh, I can still make myself laugh. What was I saying? Oh yes, you´ll make many friends once we arrive in Ponyville. Starting with Derpy, she is my best friend and she will love you. Wish I could have brought her to this adventure, she will have enjoyed it. And what an adventure we had! I admit, I got a little worried once that dragon ate us but old girl here resisted."

The Doctor patted the console of the machine. It was a kind gesture, filled with memories. The bird tilted its headed, curious.

"You´re a good listener. I might keep you around. But you´ll need a name...how about Copernicus?" The bird moved its head. "No? Amadeus? Arthur? Jamie? Carl?" None of the names satsified the exotic bird. "All right then, we´ll leave the name to Derpy. She´s good with those. Now, I´ll just pull this lever here and in one second we´ll be in sunny, quiet Ponyvi-"

The entire structure trembled, tossing the Doctor and the blue phoenix around. The TARDIS was like a snowflake in a snowball being shaken by an impetuous child, shaking up and down. After a full minute of turbulence, it stopped.

"...well, they do said that about any good landing being a landing where you end in one piece. I never understood that saying. Wonder what happened. All the monitors seem fine." The Doctor pondered for a few seconds but was unable to reach an answer. "Maybe we just hit a storm in the way back. Come on little friend, let´s go see the sun."

The phoenix flew onto his back and they left outside. To the casual looker, it seemed like the Doctor and his friend have come out from inside a blue blox, but that was an illusion caused by the camouflage circuits of the TARDIS that, once it arrived at Equestria, changed to look like a simple wooden box with barn doors.

"Ah Ponyville, there isn´t a more quaint and pacific town in all the universes. Maybe that little village in Wales. Oh, look over there Philip! No, that one either? All right then, that´s the house of my good friend. See those curta...something is wrong."

Once again, the bird tilted its head as the Doctor stopped mid-sentence. The Doctor galloped to the door and stood there, looking at the green door like it was some sort of terrible hissing creature. To the bird it was nothing but a door but the Doctor kept looking at it, staring at the door.

Suddenly, the door opened and a mare almost bumped into the Doctor.

"Oh! Doctor, you´re here!" The mare pulled the Doctor for a hug and almost inmediatly pushed him back away. "You dissapeared, again! You know Doc, when you named me your companion I was expecting to, you know, accompanying you or something."

"What are you doing here?" he coldly responded.

"Standing in the doorway?" she tried to sound funny but his harsh tone took her by surprise.

"I asked what are you doing in Derpy´s house, Lyra!"

"Ca-calm down! Derpy? Who´s that?"

The Doctor grabbed her hooves all of a sudden, causing the bird to flew away scared.

"Who´s Derpy? Who´s Derpy? She is the mare who lives in the house you usurped. The house you changed the curtains and painted the door and changed the flowers!"

"Stop! You´re hurting me!"

"Why did you do that? Where´s Derpy?"

"What are you talking about? This is my house! I moved here a year ago after I got the job in the moving company!" she yelled.

"Moving company? You don´t work there, you help BonBon in her store, you work with her." the Doctor said, looking confused and a little scared.

"No, I don´t. I do deliveries. That´s what I do. Granted, I´m not very good at it. But, what can they expect from a unicorn? I can´t fly! I have to deliver the packages on foot!"

"No, that´s wrong, you´re not...you don´t..." Having lost the ability to form words, the Doctor let go of Lyra and fell to the ground. "Who are you?"

"I´m Lyra. I´m your assistant. Remember? We met in the outskirts of the Everfree. You didn´t know anything about Ponyville or Equestria for that matter. Remember how we travelled to the times of Starswirl? Meeting the sea-ponies? Doctor?"

"No, that wasn´t you. That was Derpy. You´re Lyra. You´re that laid-back girl from the candy shop, the one who plays music in the park, the girl that always has a smile on her face and it´s generous and serene," he mumbled.

"Well, thank you but I think I´m not that serene. I do tend to lost my temper, burst like bubbles you call it?"

It was then that the Doctor finally realized what was really wrong. It wasn´t the curtains, it wasn´t the paint, it wasn´t even the fact that Lyra was in Derpy´s house. It was a set of bubbles that rested in a mint flank.

"Lyra."

"Yes, Doctor?"

"What happened to your Cutie Mark?"

"What do you mean? This is my Cutie Mark. This has always been my Cutie Mark."
