Escape From Canterlot Edited

During the three years that he was trapped in the dungeon, he was always woke up by the sun, becoming used to becoming active at dawn. One morning, when the sun didn't rise, it was a gift from above. With all of the strength he had saved up, he pulled the chains forward.

Outside of the cell, two guards were having a discussion.

“I’m telling you! Princess Celestia should get some more guards on this! I mean, we have to guard this AND keep up regular appearances! It would be nice if she would put other guards on this post,” Simmons said.

“I hear ya. I mean, we have what? Six unicorns, one earth pony, a Pegasus, and couple of new guys that sound like a sandwich I’m not sure about. I’m not trying to sound racist, but there could at least be a couple more earth ponies and pegasi,” Church said before noticing it was still dark out. “Hey…shouldn't the sun be up now?”

“Hmmm…maybe she wanted to show ponies the beauty of the night?”

“Careful. Talk like that might get you banished… if this was a thousand years ago,” Church said, right before a peculiar sound came from behind them. “What was that?”

“I think that was chains snapping,” Simmons said.

“But that would mean…Simmons! Get your spear and horn ready! I think we might have a fight on our hooves.”

Church readied his spear.

[BACK IN THE CELL]

After he broke the chains, gravity did its job. It had been three years since he last used his legs, so he had to walk on all fours. He crawled towards the door and started to scratch it with his claws. It took a while and when he brought it down, the first thing he saw were two guards. Unicorns. Their horns were shining bright and levitating spears.

“We have to keep it in its cage till the others get here,” one of them said, before he jumped at him faster than he could react. “Simmons! Run! Get help! We can’t afford to have this thing loose on the city!”

He was soon silenced when his throat was bitten out. The other guard just ran, in what the drake guessed was an attempt not to let his friend’s sacrifice be in vain.

“Why are they so content on keeping me locked up?” he thought to himself, before taking the guard’s spear to help me stand up on two legs. He would have to wait to react at the fact he took another’s life later. All that mattered now was finding a way out of this dungeon before the sun returned. He struggled to walk out of the room. The three years he has spent in that cage had taken its toll on him and it was the stuff of miraculous that he was able to break free.

When he finally left the labyrinth of a dungeon, he was greeted with what he thought were seventeen guards. Some were earth ponies, some Pegasi, but the majority were Unicorns. Angry looking, spell casting, Unicorns. As luck seemed to be smiling upon him today though, the lights were out and he doubted they could see as well as he could in such an environment. “Must be on a timed system,” he thought, before a pony rushed him and broke the spear he was using to stand and causing him to fall back and turning said spear to an okay knife.

As the pony tried to recover, he used the ‘knife’ to stab his skull, leaving it in there. He then readied his claws before they all decided to rush at him at once. He sliced a few throats and other things, the varied colors of the concussive blasts the Unicorns were projecting illuminating the hallway for brief moments. An avenue of escape through the guards presented itself. When he finally got out of the castle after jumping out of a window, he found out, much to the frown that split his face that most castles have towns or cities around them. To his further misfortune, there were two more things happening.

One: the sun was coming up.

Two: there weren’t any ladders to any of the rooftops nearby, meaning he would have to leg it through town in the daylight which opened up the possibility for an ambush and the that whomever had put him in that dungeon was awake and could be chasing him.

Still, he made up his mind right quick. He just ran like his life depended on it. It probably did.

[A COUPLE HOURS HOURS LATER]

Celestia could not believe the day she had just had. Not only did her student find the elements of harmony and defeat Nightmare moon, but she also brought her sister back from the beast that consumed her heart all those years ago. This gave her some hope that creature that she kept hidden might finally be cured of whatever ailment had been plaguing it for the past three odd years. “Maybe we could use the Elements to cure it?” she thought, before Luna said, “Sister look.” Celestia did so, multiple ponies gathered around the castle. Something was up.

“Guards, land us away from the crowd. I have a feeling they’re not here because of Luna’s return,” Celestia said. As soon as they landed, Shining Armour, wearing an eye patch, greeted them. “Captain Armour, what happened?”

“Princess, I’m sorry to say…but the creature has escaped through the city! Everypony wants to know what it was,” Shining said before sighing. “There are at least sixteen dead and a couple wounded, including me. No civilians hurt though. Whatever virus it has doesn't seem to be infecting anything.”

“When and how did it get loose?”

“From what I know, it escaped when the sun didn't rise. It then fought off the guards sent to detain it and ran until it jumped out a window when the sun came back up. It proceeded to run through the city and jumped on a departing train. We have no clue where it is now.”

[MEANWHILE, SOMEWHERE CLOSE TO A LAKE]

“Man that was stupid of me to jump off a fucking train,” he thought before looking at his reflection. “What am I?” His train of thought was hi-jacked by a nearby deer and a growling in his stomach.

“Well…I did miss breakfast,” he thought while running after the deer. It was a short chase, but when he finally caught it, he made a semi impressive roar, then started to cough. “Ow…that hurt,” he said before realizing that was the first time he had spoken in three years.

“Well, this might be good.”

During the walk back to the lake where he had landed, he found a stick and made use of it to help him walk. By his estimates, it would be a couple days before he could walk on two legs without any help. When he got back, he took a good look at himself again before a thought made his throat burn with fury. One of the wretched bitch who had put him away in the first place. “When I find you, I’m going to put you in a more secure location. One that you will never, EVER, escape from,” the thought said. It made him so angry and frightened, that flames erupted from his mouth.

“Holy shit!” he exclaimed.

“Well, I guess that explains what I am…I think?” he thought. “I mean, I was kidnaped by ponies, so it might not be out of the question if I’m a dragon. But, if that's the case, how did I become a dragon? Last time I checked, I was human.”

It was at this point, that an idea hatched in his head, “Does that mean…that Dragons can cross breed or shape-shift or something? On second thought, I don’t want to know.” He sat down to cook and eat the deer before going back out on the lamb. They might have been searching the area around the train track for him.

[CANTERLOT, A SHORT WHILE LATER]

Celestia stood before a throng of ponies, trying to hold their horses (hehehe). “Calm down! We will have the matter sorted out soon! In the meantime, I’m placing a bounty of ten thousand bits for anyone that brings the dragon that terrorized Canterlot alive.”

[A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, IN PONYVILLE]

“YOU KNOW WHAT!? FINE! I DON’T NEED YOU LOSERS ANYWAY! MORE BOUNTY FOR ME!” Gilda said to Rainbow Dash.

“Bounty? What bounty?”

“What? You didn't hear? Apparently, a dragon broke out of Canterlot a couple weeks ago and the princess put a bounty on it. I thought the two of us could catch it and cash it in. But if you want to wuss out and be with your lame friends, that’s fine with me,” Gilda said with a smug grin.

Rainbow Dash was now more confused. “Wait…the whole time we hung out, you never mentioned anything about a bounty.”

Gilda face clawed. “That’s because your little puff ball—”

Pinky jumped in. “Hey! That’s me!”

Gilda just pushed her back. “As I was saying, I didn't have the chance because she kept butting in before I had the chance of mentioning it.” She then walks out of Sugarcube Corner, saying. “Goodbye, dweebs.” She unfolded her wings and took off.
