The Past (redone)

A purple dragon with green scales climbed a mountain on its way to the Great Dragon Migration. Nothing out of the ordinary here except for the fact he is not Spike, but a hate filled beast whose mercy is currently valued more than a blessing from the Princesses.

“Three years. Three years I was trapped in that dungeon. Three years she tortured me. And two years since I escaped,” he thought to himself as he climbed the mountain. He started to think to himself about how his quest for revenge had begun. How the hate he felt burning his heart had entered it. He didn’t have much else to do as he scaled his way towards the peak.

[REWIND TO FIVE YEARS AGO]

An explosion rocked the royal garden, alerting a nearby guard. After investigating, he found something that made him high tail it in the opposite direction, panicking towards the highest authority he knew. “Princess Celestia! Something just landed in the royal garden! You must come quickly!”

“Calm down Captain! Take me to it,” Celestia said.

“Yes Princess.”

He took her to the gardens. There, at the edge of the crater formed from the explosion, she knelt her head down towards the being lying at its center.

“What is it Princess?” The captain asked.

“I’m afraid I don’t know, Iron Spear, but it looks hurt,” she said. She touched its forehead and said, “It’s burning up! We need to take it to the medical ward, now!”

The guard captain was about to take the creature to the medical ward, but noticed something off about it. There were scales on its left hand and from what he could tell the thing was a mammal.

“Captain! Why are you not bringing creature to the medical bay like I asked?” asked the Princess.

“Princess, you should take a look at this,” he said, pointing to the scales on its hand.

“Oh dear! What can we do?” Celestia asked.

“Princess: I know this might sound cruel…but we need to take it to the dungeon to have it quarantined so whatever it has can’t infect anypony else. With all due respect: we don’t know what it has, we don’t know if it’s contagious, we don’t know if it’s deadly to us, and I would rather risk the life of one unknown creature than the lives of hundreds of ponies,” he said.

Celestia took a second to absorb the information. Could he be right? Should the lives of hundreds of her little ponies be sacrificed just to cure one unknown beast? She took a deep sigh before she said, “Captain…head to the barracks, gather more guards, and bring this to the… deeps of the castle dungeon.”  She said hoping she would not regret this, taking what she believe was an injured innocent and imprisoning it.

“How many guards do you need, madam?” he asked.

Celestia waited a second and said, “Only bring five unicorns and don’t tell them why.”

His eyes lingered on her for a moment before he said, “Right, Princess.” He galloped off to the barracks.

He barged right into it, startling all of the guards present and causing them to stumble into place. “ATTEN-TION! THE PRINCESS WANTS FIVE UNICORNS TO COME WITH ME ON A PRIVATE MATTER. ANY VOLUNTEERS?” he said at the top of his trained lungs.

Five unicorns take a step forward volunteering.

“Private Shining Armor reporting for duty sir!” the first said, saluting.

“Lieutenant Shadow Blade reporting for duty sir!” the second said, saluting.

“Sargent Obsidian Sabre reporting for duty sir!” the third said, saluting.

“Private Dick Simmons reporting for duty!” the fourth said, saluting.

“Sargent Alpha Church reporting for duty sir!” the final said, saluting.

“NOW: THE FIVE OF YOU REPORT TO THE GARDEN ON THE DOUBLE! THE REST OF YOU: THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN! IS THAT CLEAR?” he said.

“SIR, YES SIR!”

“GOOD! DISMISSED!”

He left with the five volunteers.

[LATER IN THE GARDEN]

“Princess! I have the five guards you ordered. What shall I do with them?” the guard captain asked.

“First, I need to know who these guards are.”

“We have Lieutenant Blade, Sergeants Church and Sabre, and Privates Simmons and Armour,” he said, pointing to the ponies in question.

“Are any of you good with shielding spells?” she asked.

“I am, madam,” Shining said, stepping up.

“Good. Shield this creature so we can teleport it to the…dungeon,” she said with hints of regret in her voice. In truth she regretted forcing this creature in a dungeon. Shining complied and she said, “Ready yourselves.”

“YES PRINCESS!” the five guards said. They charged up their horns to start teleporting the creature to the secured area of the castle dungeon. It was then that the princess realized that she did not warn the guards posted there and it would cause a minor problem. Oh well. She would have to deal with it when it happened.

[LATER, IN THE MOST SECURED PART OF THE DUNGEON]

“Hey Mack, you ever wonder why we’re here?” a guard asks.

“Don’t get philosophical with me now, Donald. It ain’t the time or the place.”

“No! Not like that! I mean, why we always get this gig down here.”

“Oh. Actually…yeah. I have. I mean, why the hay are we guarding an empty cell! I mean, who’s gonna try to break into an empty cell? It makes no sense!” Mac said.

“Actually, I take that back. I did mean on a philosophical level,” Donald said.

Mack huffed and Donald chittered away like a monkey. “Keep up the sense of humor kid, and I might let my lips slip out how big of a nut you are for them funny books.”

“Hey! Captain Equestria kicks flank!”

“Give that spiel to someone over twelve.”

Before the two could come to blows on whether or not the comic book medium was one of high art or entertainment, the guard captain came in and said, “Hey! Remember! No arguing on the clock!”

They jumped to attention. “C-c-c-captain! How long have you been standing there?” the two guards asked, in stereo.

Celestia jumped into the conversation. “Hey, what am I?” She jokes cheering herself up despite the setting and at the cost of humiliating two of her guards.

They started sweating. “Princess! Sorry…we didn’t see you there. Please forgive us.”

[AFTER A BRIEF EXPLANATION]

“So, you all know that this cannot be divulged to the public and any mention of this to anypony but the ponies that know about this thing shall be banished from Equestria for treason?  Am I clear?” Celestia asked. She didn't like threatening anypony, but it was necessary for them to understand the importance and for the sake of secrecy.

“Yes madam,” eight of them said, except for Shining armor.

He asked, “Princess …who is the tenth pony?”

The Captain was about to scold him for attempted insubordination, but the Princess said, “The tenth pony will be my personal physician, who will figure out what is wrong with it.”

It was the Captain’s turn to ask a question. “So you’re not even going to tell your personal student about this?”

Celestia’s expression was still as stone. She craned her head towards Shining Armor, whose breath had become accelerated ever so slightly. She turned back to Captain Iron Spear and said, “I don’t want her to get involved with this at present. Do we all agree to not talk about this to anypony?”

This time, all of them saluted. “Yes Princess.”

“Good. Now, get back to work.”

They all snapped into place. “YES MAM!”

[MEANWHILE IN THE CELL]

“Ahhhh…what the hell? Where am I?”

Escape From Canterlot Edited

During the three years that he was trapped in the dungeon, he was always woke up by the sun, becoming used to becoming active at dawn. One morning, when the sun didn't rise, it was a gift from above. With all of the strength he had saved up, he pulled the chains forward.

Outside of the cell, two guards were having a discussion.

“I’m telling you! Princess Celestia should get some more guards on this! I mean, we have to guard this AND keep up regular appearances! It would be nice if she would put other guards on this post,” Simmons said.

“I hear ya. I mean, we have what? Six unicorns, one earth pony, a Pegasus, and couple of new guys that sound like a sandwich I’m not sure about. I’m not trying to sound racist, but there could at least be a couple more earth ponies and pegasi,” Church said before noticing it was still dark out. “Hey…shouldn't the sun be up now?”

“Hmmm…maybe she wanted to show ponies the beauty of the night?”

“Careful. Talk like that might get you banished… if this was a thousand years ago,” Church said, right before a peculiar sound came from behind them. “What was that?”

“I think that was chains snapping,” Simmons said.

“But that would mean…Simmons! Get your spear and horn ready! I think we might have a fight on our hooves.”

Church readied his spear.

[BACK IN THE CELL]

After he broke the chains, gravity did its job. It had been three years since he last used his legs, so he had to walk on all fours. He crawled towards the door and started to scratch it with his claws. It took a while and when he brought it down, the first thing he saw were two guards. Unicorns. Their horns were shining bright and levitating spears.

“We have to keep it in its cage till the others get here,” one of them said, before he jumped at him faster than he could react. “Simmons! Run! Get help! We can’t afford to have this thing loose on the city!”

He was soon silenced when his throat was bitten out. The other guard just ran, in what the drake guessed was an attempt not to let his friend’s sacrifice be in vain.

“Why are they so content on keeping me locked up?” he thought to himself, before taking the guard’s spear to help me stand up on two legs. He would have to wait to react at the fact he took another’s life later. All that mattered now was finding a way out of this dungeon before the sun returned. He struggled to walk out of the room. The three years he has spent in that cage had taken its toll on him and it was the stuff of miraculous that he was able to break free.

When he finally left the labyrinth of a dungeon, he was greeted with what he thought were seventeen guards. Some were earth ponies, some Pegasi, but the majority were Unicorns. Angry looking, spell casting, Unicorns. As luck seemed to be smiling upon him today though, the lights were out and he doubted they could see as well as he could in such an environment. “Must be on a timed system,” he thought, before a pony rushed him and broke the spear he was using to stand and causing him to fall back and turning said spear to an okay knife.

As the pony tried to recover, he used the ‘knife’ to stab his skull, leaving it in there. He then readied his claws before they all decided to rush at him at once. He sliced a few throats and other things, the varied colors of the concussive blasts the Unicorns were projecting illuminating the hallway for brief moments. An avenue of escape through the guards presented itself. When he finally got out of the castle after jumping out of a window, he found out, much to the frown that split his face that most castles have towns or cities around them. To his further misfortune, there were two more things happening.

One: the sun was coming up.

Two: there weren’t any ladders to any of the rooftops nearby, meaning he would have to leg it through town in the daylight which opened up the possibility for an ambush and the that whomever had put him in that dungeon was awake and could be chasing him.

Still, he made up his mind right quick. He just ran like his life depended on it. It probably did.

[A COUPLE HOURS HOURS LATER]

Celestia could not believe the day she had just had. Not only did her student find the elements of harmony and defeat Nightmare moon, but she also brought her sister back from the beast that consumed her heart all those years ago. This gave her some hope that creature that she kept hidden might finally be cured of whatever ailment had been plaguing it for the past three odd years. “Maybe we could use the Elements to cure it?” she thought, before Luna said, “Sister look.” Celestia did so, multiple ponies gathered around the castle. Something was up.

“Guards, land us away from the crowd. I have a feeling they’re not here because of Luna’s return,” Celestia said. As soon as they landed, Shining Armour, wearing an eye patch, greeted them. “Captain Armour, what happened?”

“Princess, I’m sorry to say…but the creature has escaped through the city! Everypony wants to know what it was,” Shining said before sighing. “There are at least sixteen dead and a couple wounded, including me. No civilians hurt though. Whatever virus it has doesn't seem to be infecting anything.”

“When and how did it get loose?”

“From what I know, it escaped when the sun didn't rise. It then fought off the guards sent to detain it and ran until it jumped out a window when the sun came back up. It proceeded to run through the city and jumped on a departing train. We have no clue where it is now.”

[MEANWHILE, SOMEWHERE CLOSE TO A LAKE]

“Man that was stupid of me to jump off a fucking train,” he thought before looking at his reflection. “What am I?” His train of thought was hi-jacked by a nearby deer and a growling in his stomach.

“Well…I did miss breakfast,” he thought while running after the deer. It was a short chase, but when he finally caught it, he made a semi impressive roar, then started to cough. “Ow…that hurt,” he said before realizing that was the first time he had spoken in three years.

“Well, this might be good.”

During the walk back to the lake where he had landed, he found a stick and made use of it to help him walk. By his estimates, it would be a couple days before he could walk on two legs without any help. When he got back, he took a good look at himself again before a thought made his throat burn with fury. One of the wretched bitch who had put him away in the first place. “When I find you, I’m going to put you in a more secure location. One that you will never, EVER, escape from,” the thought said. It made him so angry and frightened, that flames erupted from his mouth.

“Holy shit!” he exclaimed.

“Well, I guess that explains what I am…I think?” he thought. “I mean, I was kidnaped by ponies, so it might not be out of the question if I’m a dragon. But, if that's the case, how did I become a dragon? Last time I checked, I was human.”

It was at this point, that an idea hatched in his head, “Does that mean…that Dragons can cross breed or shape-shift or something? On second thought, I don’t want to know.” He sat down to cook and eat the deer before going back out on the lamb. They might have been searching the area around the train track for him.

[CANTERLOT, A SHORT WHILE LATER]

Celestia stood before a throng of ponies, trying to hold their horses (hehehe). “Calm down! We will have the matter sorted out soon! In the meantime, I’m placing a bounty of ten thousand bits for anyone that brings the dragon that terrorized Canterlot alive.”

[A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, IN PONYVILLE]

“YOU KNOW WHAT!? FINE! I DON’T NEED YOU LOSERS ANYWAY! MORE BOUNTY FOR ME!” Gilda said to Rainbow Dash.

“Bounty? What bounty?”

“What? You didn't hear? Apparently, a dragon broke out of Canterlot a couple weeks ago and the princess put a bounty on it. I thought the two of us could catch it and cash it in. But if you want to wuss out and be with your lame friends, that’s fine with me,” Gilda said with a smug grin.

Rainbow Dash was now more confused. “Wait…the whole time we hung out, you never mentioned anything about a bounty.”

Gilda face clawed. “That’s because your little puff ball—”

Pinky jumped in. “Hey! That’s me!”

Gilda just pushed her back. “As I was saying, I didn't have the chance because she kept butting in before I had the chance of mentioning it.” She then walks out of Sugarcube Corner, saying. “Goodbye, dweebs.” She unfolded her wings and took off.

The ruins and The books

(NOTE THIS CHAPTER STARTS BACK AFTER DRAKE ESCAPED CANTERLOT.)

I walked for a couple hours trying to keep a low profile in case they sent some Pegasi to look for me. I stayed close to the tree’s to make sure they could not see me although a purple reptile would stick out in the trees. After a couple hours of wandering and hunting I found the ruins of what I guess was once a house but it could have just as easily been a store ether way there might be something useful that I can use and even If there isn’t it might be an interesting distraction from what is plaguing my mind at the moment.

I wandered the ruin which turned out to be a house had nothing that interesting at first but just as I was about to leave I ‘found’ a trap door covered by some leaves (If by found you mean stepped on it by accident and fell down a hole.) and was knocked out for a couple hours.

I awoke a couple hours later in a daze. I looked around trying to figure out what had happened then it hit me harder than Superman using Thor’s hammer at full force after a month in the sun ‘I fell down into a cave’ I thought to myself as I looked around for my walking stick. After looking for a while I gave up on finding the stick and decided to use the cave walls to support me. After a short uneventful walk I came across something that could only be described as a natural bunker I enter it thinking that it might have either a way out or something of value.

Inside the bunker I decided to take a quick look around to find anything of use after I attempted to use the ‘thu'um ’from Skyrim to see if It could work short story shorter it didn’t. A short while later I had found a couple gems that I could sell to get some coins, two books and a really dark crystal. I decided to look at the books just in case they had something helpful or interesting. Chances are that the books will be written in a different language but it still worth a check.

Most of the first book I chose was unreadable for the most part but I found three chapters that were readable it turns out that the book I had chosen was about dragons. The first readable chapter detailed their eating habits. As it turns out dragons cannot only eat meat but also vegetables and gems of all things. I decided to test this out to see if that was true I grabbed a small emerald and took a bite. It tasted okay I mean they were nothing special but it’s nice to know that I have a third source of food.

I checked the second readable chapter and it turns out its on dragon’s reproduction cycles. It basically told me about how dragons and ponies have similar genetics so that when they mate there is a chance of making a kiru or ‘dragon ponies’. That didn’t really interest me much but the next thing actually surprised me ‘A male dragon is not born with genitalia instead when they start their teenage years their genitalia start growing. After the first one has grown the dragon will start emitting a scent that will notify a suitable mate that it is ready to reproduce. The scent will disperse into minor gas after the dragon’s second member has become fully grown. This process will take a couple days to a week max.’ the rest was unreadable but I’m guessing it was not important.

Unfortunate for him the unreadable text was a warning about that a mare or dragoness will have a hundred percent chance of getting pregnant under the influence of the scent.

The last chapter only had a few readable pages and was about a dragon’s natural abilities. The basics were that dragon scales absorbs magic and they can use the magic they’ve stored to heal themselves. Dragon’s also have great resistance to heat showed in here apparent ability to swim in lava they also can hold their breath for long periods of times, have a natural fire preventing them from freezing or needing to go into hibernation, are immune to most ailments such as most poisons and can use their breaths to send items to a special point. The rest of the book is unreadable at this point.

I closed the book and put it down to look around a bit just to see if there was a way out. I wasn’t about to leave without reading the second book but I needed to know what time it was just to make sure I knew if I needed to stay here for the night. After a couple minutes of looking I found a lever that opened a wall allowing me to go out I looked up and for the first time in three years I saw the sunset.  It took me a couple seconds to realise that I was crying. I quickly wiped away the tear and went back inside the cave to read the second book. I knew that I would not get anywhere by moping around so I grabbed the second book and started reading it. Unfortunately for me the book only had two pages readable.

I can’t believe that bastard Starswirl back stabbed us after all we did. I mean if it wasn’t for us that bastard would still be freezing his flank off back in the old country while arguing over whose head is bigger. Anyway his heart has been consumed by the darkness I saw him he turned his loyal assistant ‘Clover the Clever’ into that thing he called a changeling then blames us for her ‘disappearance’ exposes our work as ‘dark arts’ and banished us from the country. Luckily for me I have a secret bunker where I can continue my work in peace. I just hope that the others are okay and lets all hope for Equestria’s sake that Starswirl gets exposed for the corrupt bastard that he is.

This is ‘Former’ Commander Hurricane signing out

I took a moment to take that information in from what I gathered this book is at least a couple centuries old. I took a sigh hoping that maybe this woman has at least a happy ending.

I don’t have long to write this but here it goes. I was out gathering food in the surrounding forest when a group of griffon raiders attacked me but I was able to escape them with ease but at the same time I became wounded. I'm going to run away to get them away from my home if anypony is reading this find a black gem it’s my soulgem break it. It will give some of my abilities use it well and seek out Queen Chrysalis tell her that her chaos has fallen and the shadows remain.

This is the last entry of Commander Hurricane, Element of Honesty.

I closed the book deciding that I should sleep now and break the gem in the morning not knowing how the gem would work it’s probably for the best that I have a fresh head when I break it.

(MEANWHILE IN CANTERLOT. LUNA POV)

I raised the moon for the first time in a thousand years I wondered what had changed in the time I was gone. I had decided to go for a walk around the castle but as I opened my door I was greeted by my sister. “Hello Luna. How are you getting acquainted with your new room?” Celestia asked with an odd look on her face.

“Tis nice but some the things in the room confuse me.” I said looking at that odd device that steals bread.

“You mean the toaster?” she asked

“Sister if you’re here to ask me something just ask it. Honestly of all the things that have changed you’re poker face isn’t one of them.” I said

“Very well” She said recovering from what I just said “When you are out in the dream world could you please look for the ‘dragon’ that escaped from the castle.”

I looked at her for a second before agreeing. She was obviously hiding something and I knew that the dragon would give me the info that I wanted.

I waited a couple of hours to be sure that it was asleep before I entered my ethereal form and went off to find him. Luckily for me he was close to Canterlot so I didn’t have to look far for him. The dream on the other hoof was not what she had expected.

Dream of darkness

As Luna gazed upon the nightmare, she could not believe what she was seeing. In front her was the dragon that she was tasked to spy on, being tortured by a sadistic doctor. Two nasty looking guards, and an evil looking version of her sister were also present.

Luna just sat and watched as the evil ponies tortured the dragon, wondering if she should help him, or just report back to her sister to tell her what she saw. After a couple moments of thinking, she decided to help him, just to see what would happen. She turned into the blackest of mists and flew to the ear of the dragon, whispering "It's just a dream, worry not."

As she whispered to the dragon the room quickly filled with darkness, the sadistic doctor shouted out "Hey, who turned out the lights!?" Upon return of the lights, the doctor was now but a skeleton and the dragon had disappeared.

Luna quickly left the room, searching for the dragon. She hoped to reach him before the dream collapsed. Contrary to what other ponies believed, invading dreams was an extremely dangerous occupation, usually due to the nightmares that could cause harm to you in the real world. "Princess, over there." One of her guards said, pointing to Luna's shadowy form. Luna's eyes sank as the Nightmares found her, charging at her with the screams of banshees.

However, just before the nightmares attacked, the dragon from earlier swooped in on wings of shadow and fire, killing one of the shades with an ancient blade, forged from the wing of a great dark dragon, it’s soul trapped inside, giving it power. Luna wondered where he had gotten the blade, and in her thoughts had not noticed she had been reverted to foalhood.

“Are you okay?” The dragon asked the now filly Luna, concerned for the safety of one who was but a child. His deep draconic voice echoing around in the void. .

“Ye-yes, I’m fine” Luna responded, her voice of a higher pitch and much shakier than usual. She thought to herself on this, ‘Why do I sound like this?’

“Ah! The coward weakling shows itself at last!” The dark image of Celestia called, appearing from the shadow, suddenly but a few hooves from the dragon and Luna. “Slaughter them.” Celestia said, turning her head to her last shade guard, a dark laugh evident in her voice.

The guard turned his head to Celestia, turning it back again revealed such a smile that had no place on a pony face, “With pleasure, my Queen.”

“You might want to look before you leap, count your shadows, pony.” The dragon said, smugness in his voice. Luna wondered for a second what he could mean by that, before seeing the guard possessed two shadows.

The guard thought nothing of the dragon’s warning, paying it no mind he took a step forward, however, instead he fell to the ground. Looking back at his body with confusion, he saw that nothing was left of his lower half but bones. Even the dark guard was shocked and horrified at this, attempting to scream in the tremendous pain, yet not a sound left his lips.

The Dark Celestia laughed as the corridor they were in changed to an arena."So 'hero' do you plan on killing me with those pathetic shadow's?" she taunted as the dragon laughed "Funny i don't remember calling myself a hero and no im not going to kill you cause lets face it that would be too easy."

The dragon swooped at Celestia with his sword as she dodged it. As the fake Celestia dodged she tried to charge the dragon and impale him but as she came close to the dragon dodged, climbed on her back and grabbed one of her wings. He raised his blade  and cut off the wing he was holding before using it to impale her eye as he did the same thing to the other wing and eye. He then grabbed her horn and started to rip it from her head. He then used the horn to impale her throat causing her to crash.

Before she crashed the dragon leaped off and used the dream wings to glide on to the ground. He turned to the collapsed Celestia before she game him a pathetic look and asked " i thought you said you weren't going to kill me?" The dragon smiled before saying "Oh i did promise not to kill you" he looked off to the sky "the thing is you're her" he then snapped her neck.

The arena the shifted to a room with only a table and chairs with the dragon sitting in one of them."So why did you kill her?" Luna asked "You promised not to kill her." she stated.

"I did promised not to kill her." the dragon said as Luna opened her mouth "she was just not the real thing" he said.

"So your not going to kill her?" Luna asked but before she could get an answer the dragon awoke severing the connection.

(That cave under the ruined house that belonged to Commander Hurricane.

I awoken from the weird dream as i tried to remember where i was. It took me a couple seconds to remembered the events of yesterday the prison break, jumping out a window, running through a city, jumping off a train into a lake, finding the hidden house of a long dead pony and the soul gem.

Upon remembering the gem i quickly dug it out of where ever i had placed it. "alright you little bugger lets see what's hidden in you" i said as i chomped down on the gem... i looked around wondering what was going to happen but nothing. Same cave room, same thousand year old and same hovering... pegasus... in armor. 'wat?' was all i could think of as she looked at me
