Chapter 1: Resurface
2004: Scientists discover an asteroid spiralling in deep space. It is predicted to collide with the earth sometime in 2035. The Asteroid is dubbed 99024 Apophis.
2028: Apophis is privately assigned a Torino rating of 7; the highest ever on the scale of an object likely to impact earth.
2029: Scientists begin construction of the Ark project. It is designed to preserve the remnants of humanity by burying them deep in the earth.
2035: The public is made aware of the asteroid. The Ark project is initiated. People are buried in ark capsules deep underground. Apophis impacts earth. Impact radiation causes mass evolution among the very few remaining equine species.
“106 Years Later”
***Ark 1126 Online***
Inhabitants: 1 Alive; 7 Dead due to impact shockwave
Time Buried: 106 Years
***Activating Resurface Protocol: Blue Xephos***
“Ah’m tellin ya Twilight, I’ve been seeing these small metal orbs floatin around.”
“Hmm...odd I’ll look into it later and…”
“Hmm twitchy tail, fluttering eyes, plus random deflation of my hair…OOOH! Twilight something is about to come out of the ground!”
“Are you sure Pinkie last time…”
Twilight was cut short by a loud rumbling noise followed by cracks in the earth.
Shortly after that a strange metal object came out of the hole caused by the cracks.
The three girls looked at each other then back at the object.
“Umm...Twilight what is that?”
“I…I don’t know”
“I’m gonna touch it.”
“Pinkie, are ya sure that’s a good idea?”
“Don’t worry AJ, I’ll be fine.”
The pink pony went up to the object and touched it. That action was met with a noise and an odd voice.
***Outside Opening Activated***
***Main Door Unlocked***
***Extending Walkway***
The three looked at each other again and back to the object. Twilight spoke up.
“Should…should we go inside?”
“Ah guess so but lets be careful we dunno whats in there.”
The three ponies went inside the object and looked around.
“Hey, Twilight, look at this!” The pony went up to a strange device which displayed several words and numbers; one sentence in particular caught their attention.
***Ark Cryogenic Pod #502***
Subjects: 7 Deceased, 1 Alive
Reason For Death: Asteroid Impact Shockwave
While AJ and Twilight look at the screen, Pinkie Pie is off in another part of the pod and something caught her eye.
“Oohhh! What’s this?”
Twilight turned to AJ with a worried look on her face.
“Oh no! PINKIE!”
They galloped over to where Pinkie was and they saw that she was looking at something.
“What is that?”
“I think its living!”
They look at a small screen which says something.
***Warning! Automatic Cryo Release Inactive Manual Opening Required***
A small button popped out of the case which the thing is held in.
Twilight put her hoof up to the button but didn’t press it.
“AJ, if this thing is hostile take it down.”
AJ just nodded.
“Okay, here we go...”
Twilight pressed the button which caused a few noises and a voice.
***Activating Nanotrites***
***Unlocking Seals***
The creature slowly made its way out of the pod. It looked around at the three creatures before it. It took a while for the info to process in the creatures head at what it was looking at. The second it realized what it was looking at, it’s eyes widened.
Twilight was the first to speak up.
“Umm...hello? C.a.n.Y.o.u.U.n.d.e.r.s.t.a.n.d.M.e.?”
“Yes, I can.”
“Oh, good you can talk; and in our language too.”
“Hold on, two things; one what the fuck are you? And two you are speaking English, which is my language.”
“English? I’m sorry, I have never heard of that language.”
“You’re kidding me, right?”
“No, I am not. Now, I have a few questions…”
“Hold that thought.”
The creature walked up to a panel in the middle of the room and pressed the screen a few times.
***Playing Pre-Recorded Message***
“Hello ark inhabitants. This is President DarkSydePhil here to tell you that you are what is left of the human race and…”
The machine shorted out.
“Damn it!”
“So that’s what you are...a human?”
“Yes, I am. My name is Master Sergeant Thomas Copper”
“Well, Thomas my name is Twilight Sparkle and to your previous statement I am a pony, to be more specific, I am an unicorn.”
“Unicorn? Must have been the impact radiation.”
“Hold on, what do you mean impact radiation?”
“Okay. Let me explain this from the beginning. According to statistics, I have been in stasis for 106 years. 106 years ago, an asteroid called the 99024 Apophis struck the earth and these pods are holding the remnants of humanity. I woke up and saw you and that’s about it.”
“What about the impact radiation you mentioned?”
“Oh yeah, the radiation from the asteroids impact must of caused some sort of mass evolution in the equine species turning you into what you are now.”
“Amazing, I need to report this to princess Celestia right away!”
“You have a princess?”
“Yes and I am her protégé.”
“Really? Then you must be important.”
“I don’t like to say that but in a way I am. My friends and I wielded the Elements of Harmony.”
“I haven’t the slightest clue what those are.”
“Long story short, they are magical stones.”
“So, let me get this straight. You are talking horses with a princess who is also a talking horse?”
“That was rudely said, but yes. Pretty much.”
“Hang on before we leave.”
Thomas walks up to this device and pushes a few buttons which causes a small object to pop out.
“What is that?”
“This thing can locate A.T.L.A.S. Control.”
“Atlas Control?”
“Atlas Control is the main pod. It is buried within Mount DSP.”
“I have never heard of that mountain. The only one near here is where the capital city of Equestria is...”
“Equestria?”
“Oh, that is the name of our country.”
The four made their way outside the ark and onto the street.
“Halt in the name of the princess.”
Thomas found himself surrounded by what he guessed were royal guards.
“You are under arrest for extreme damage to public property.”
“What do you mean damage to public…”
He turned around and noticed that part of the ark destroyed a building when it resurfaced.
“Shit...”
Chapter 2: Explanation
Chapter 2: Explanation
AN: since a comment on the last chapter left a plot hole in the story I will try and fill that in with an Explanation
The royal guards were closing in on Thomas.
“I can explain”
“Silence creature now come with us and…”
“LET HIM GO!”
A voice boomed from behind the guards. They turned around to see the Princess of the Sun glaring angrily at them.
“B… but your highness it…”
“But nothing how were we supposed to know that Ponyville was built upon an Ark burial site”
“Wait a second how do you know what this is?”
“I will explain it to you but not here. I need you to accompany me to Canterlot”
“I’m guessing that is the capital city”
“Correct my palace is there”
“Well I guess I have no choice so… wait what about this 235 tonne hunk of metal in the street?”
“I’ll be taking it with us”
“Wait how…”
Before he could finish Princess Celestia’s horn started to glow a faint blue and sent a beam of that colour to the Ark which somehow levitated it.
“Wha… how are you doing that?”
(Magic *Snort Snort*)
“Well I am an Alicorn”
She points to her horn and wings.
“Anyway lets go”
Thomas and the sun goddess mounted the golden chariot behind her and took off for the city of Canterlot.
(One flying carriage ride with a 235 tonne hunk of metal following them later)
We arrived at Canterlot Palace; this city is amazing it is actually built onto the side of a mountain. We were walking through the gardens just outside the palace , the gardeners were busy working but soon noticed Thomas, Celestia and the ark when it’s shadow loomed over them. When they saw the size of the Ark they pissed themselves.
We continued through the gardens and ended up in the main courtyard where the princess put the Ark down then we went inside.
“So Princess Celestia how did you know what the Ark was?”
“I saw it all”
“What do you mean?”
“Let me start from the very beginning… from Equestria’s death”
(Flashback)
“Your highness we must leave now!”
“It’s no use Sergeant; the Timewrex is too close”
“But your majesty we must at least try”
“What to do, what to do? Aha Sergeant barricade the main door and hold it off for as long as you can I need to do something”
The sergeant nodded and ran towards the door.
Princess Celestia ran to her quarters and went to the bookshelves desperately looking for something… anything which could help. Upon trying to pull out a certain book it made a noise and the fireplace beside the bookshelves moved revealing a hidden passage. Celestia followed the passage for a while; eventually she made her way into a room where the sunlight from the window shined down on a pedestal where an extremely old book was lying. The sun goddess went up to the book and was barely able to make out the name of it.
“Iholsyr”
She opened the book and begun to read. The book was old indeed; it contained spells to preserve life, spells to modify the pony body and all sorts of amazing things. The thing that got her attention was this one page. It had a spell which could “Copy” the planet; literally it could create a mental copy of the planet the caster is on in his or her mind. Without hesitation Celestia used a combination of the spells in the book which made a bright light and blinded the princess.
(One hour later)
The princess woke up in a cave; she looked around to try and find out where she was. After what seemed like hours of searching Celestia found the exit. The outside was beautiful fields, luscious green trees and people going into a metal object… wait WHAT?
She saw these bipedal creatures walking into a strange object. The object made a few noises and parts of it moved and began to dig underground. After that she saw a LARGE object fall from the sky. That was all the princess saw before blacking out.
Moments later Celestia woke up to a barren land. There was nothing; no signs of life. It was a wasteland.
“Not for long” She said.
Celestia’s horn glowed a bright red colour and blinded her. The next thing she knew is that she was in Canterlot Castle.
“Home at last”
(End Flashback)
“So you see after I used that spell the years after were just like nothing happened; until you came”
“That explains a lot but it doesn’t explain how you know what the Arks are”
“We have one here”
“One what?”
“An Ark. This one is significantly larger than the one you came from”
“It must be…”
“It must be? What are you talking about Thomas?”
“This Ark you have must be A.T.L.A.S. Control; the main Ark. Its purpose is to resurface the other Arks in case of auto resurface failure”
“Amazing that is just… amazing”
“Can you take me to Atlas control?”
“Of course follow me”
Celestia and Thomas walked the halls of Canterlot Castle; passing almost a hundred doors before making it to this massive door.
“Are you ready to revive your species Thomas?”
Thomas nodded and they both went into a cavern on the other side of the door. The cavern seemed to go on forever but they eventually stopped at the front of the A.T.L.A.S Ark.
“Atlas; at last we meet. Time to get you up and running my friend”
Thomas found and activated the outer opening button which opened the Ark’s door; he then went inside. Thomas looked at different parts of the Ark; he was amazed at the size. It contained nearly everything ever made in the years 1900-2035. He walked up to the central control system and said.
“Alright let’s do this”
Thomas activated the main computer which whirred to life and spoke in a mechanical voice.

***Time Buried: 106 Years***
***Please Insert Ark Id Chip For Resurfacing***
Thomas inserted the ID chip into the slot shown.
***ID Chip Accepted***
***Ark #1126 ID Chip***
***Beginning Resurface Protocol Lyoko***
Celestia teleported to the observatory tower and aimed the telescope at the mountain top. She could see the top breaking and the mega Ark take its place.
(Meanwhile inside the Ark)
Thomas was checking the status of the Ark to make sure nothing has happened to it during resurfacing. He walked out onto the viewing platform of the Ark and admired the new world he was in.
“I’m home”
