Spiked Flowers

It was a normal day in Ponyville, Twilight had sent out Spike to collect some books from Zecora in the everfree forest. He had left as soon as she told him. He was the number one assistant, after all. He took his backpack and began his walk to the zebra living in the forest. He walked past the market, looking at all the things ponies had to sell.

'Howdy Spike!' he heard a familiar voice, and looked back at the source. It was Applejack and her sister Applebloom. He knew that Applebloom had a crush on him but he though that it was weird, as he was a dragon and she was a pony.

'Oh, hey AJ and Applebloom!, what are you guys up to?' he asked the orange farmpony.

'We was jus' about ta' open the applestand for today's sales.' She answered, smiling. 'Where are you goin'?'

'Twilight told me to go out to Zecora's and pick up some books...'

'Alone?' Applebloom quickly asked.

'Yup.' He answered just as quickly.

'Can Ah come with ya?' Applebloom grinned.

'Uhh... I don't know...' He started walking backwards slowly. 'I don't think AJ would like you going out in the Everfree with only me.'

At the mention of her name, Applejack walked up to them.

'What's y'all talkin' bout?'

'Can Ah go with Spike to Zecora's? Applebloom asked her older sister.

Applejack looked at Spike, it looked like he was begging her not to come with him, and with big pleading eyes locked at hers. Applejack thought for a moment before answering.

'No way, no how. Ah need your help sellin' apples.' She said, straightening her back and tipping her hat back a little. Spike was relieved when he heard Applejack tell her.

'Aww...' Applebloom muttered.

'Weell... Anyhow, I gotta go. Bye.'

'Bye, Spike!' Applejack waved a hoof.

He turned around and walked away towards the path leading into the forest.

-----

After entering the forest, he walked down the old dirt road and took a right at a spot where Twilight had told him to go. He had been walking for almost half an hour when he saw the small hut. He walked up and knocked on the door. Nopony answered, but there was a note on the door.

'Emergency'

'I will be back in a few days.'

'P.S.

Spike, Twilight Sparkle informed me that you would come and pick up some books, they are on the back of my house in a basket.'

Spike realised that she must've been in a real hurry if she didn't write it like a rhyme like she always did, after placing the note back on the door he went around the small house and looked for a basket of some sort. He picked up a basket and he heard a hissing sound from it. He realised that it would be a good idea not to open that basket. After looking through a few he found the books, it was books about herbs and their effects on ponies in general. Spike wasn't surprised about the choice of books. He placed the books in his backpack and turned around. But he accidentally tripped, shooting out a small burst of green flames into a bush with strange leaves he hadn't seen before. A fire started. When he saw the flames rising he stood up and tried stomping out the fire, when he did he accidentally inhaled alot of smoke from the fire. When the fire had stopped, he was relieved. But something felt different. He didn't know what it was, but he looked down at his claws. They looked strange somehow, he turned them around an inspected is hands.

'Duuuude....' He said to himself. 'My hands are like, scaly and stuff. And my claws are all like... ...Clawy.' After further inspection of his hands, he was thirsty. He walked up to a bucket filled with water. When he saw his reflection, he shrieked a little, and began inspecting his face like he did with his hands earlier. He felt better than he had felt like the entire day.

After walking back to the strange bush and grabbing some more leaves he decided to walk home. He didn't get far before he was really hungry. He saw the Sweet Apple Acres down the road and walked there while inspecting his claws some more. He found a nice, big apple tree, but there was one problem. He needed to find a way to get down the apples to him. He realised that Applejack and her brother kicked the trunk of the tree, and apples fell down. He gave the tree a few kicks and all he got from it was an aching foot. He got agitated and slammed his claws into the trunk and from primal strength, he managed to shake the tree a little, making a few apples fall down. He was satisfied and picked up one.

'Hello little apple.' He actually talked to the apple.

'I know your secrets...'

'I'm going to eat you, and there's nothing you can do to stop me...'

He started chuckling and took a big bite from it.

'You will not live to tell another lie, apple...' He stared at the apple for a couple of seconds.

'OH DEAR CELESTIA WHAT HAVE I DONE? I KILLED AN INNOCENT APPLE!' He shouted, threw the apple at the ground, grabbed his backpack and ran away with his arms flailing. He stopped after a short sprint and looked up at the sky, when a rainbow trail zoomed over the sky, turning around and heading towards him. His eyes widened as he saw the rainbow heading towards him. He screamed and laid down on the ground, grabbing his tail. That's when he heard a sound of hooves landing on the ground. He looked up to see Rainbow Dash.

Uh, Spike? What are you doing down there, and what's that weird smell?' She asked him, looking down at the small purple dragon in front of her. He looked like he had just seen a ghost or something. He stood up and walked towards her.

'Spike, what are yo-' She was interrupted by Spike as he touched her mane with his claws, his eyes as big as ever, but with a small tint of pink.

'Rainbows....' He wispered, while twirling her mane around his claw.

'SPIKE!' He was startled, and immediately dropped her mane, he looked straight in the agitated mares eyes.

'Where've you been? Twi's looking for you right now.' She informed him, but he seemed like he could care less. She watched as he looked down at his claws again.

'Clawy claws...' Was all he said.

'Are you okay Spike?' She was getting concerned about the dragon. He wasn't the same as he used to be, he was... Different somehow.

'Uh, yeah... I'm fine. Twilight, yeah. I'll go to her then.' He walked off slowly, she could swear that she heard him sing ''Winter Wrap Up'' to himself while walking away.

'Well that was weird.' Rainbow said before shooting back up into the sky, forgetting about the situation.

-----

As he walked up to the door to the library, he stopped infront of it and smacked a flower in the bush besides the door.

'Don't look at me like that, you dumb flower...' He said while opening the door leading into the library, he walked in and slammed the door shut behind him. 'Stupid flower...' he mumbled.

'Spike? Is that you?' The lavender unicorn walked into the main room from the kitchen, as soon as she saw Spike she ran up to him and hugged him.

'Where have you been, mister?' She ordered, she had been worried about him. 'It shouldn't have taken you so long to pick up some books!'

'Relax, Twi...' He said slowly.

'Alright, I will relax.' She convinced herself.

'WHOAH TWILIGHT!' He shouted, surprising the mare in front of him.

'What is it?' She was getting nervous.

'There's... There's something strange.' He narrowed his eyes and focused on the unicorn.

'Spike, you're scaring me...'

'Your coat...' He walked up to her and placed a hand on her back.

'WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY COAT?' She was scared now.

'It- It...'

'WHAT?' She was on the edge of breaking down.'

'It feels like purple...' He said slowly, while moving his claws in a circular motion on her back.

'That.. That's it?' She felt relieved, but it was strange how he said that out of the blue.

'Yeah...' He stopped the motion and looked up at her eyes and grinned.

'Spike, what's that smell?' She asked sternly.

'What smell...' He chuckled.

'Spike.'

'Yeah?'

'What have you done?' She had had it with his games, she wanted answers.'

'Stuff.'

'What stuff?' She wanted a complete answer.

'Good stuff...' He chuckled and fell asleep on the spot, still standing.

Spiked Flowers 2

Hours had passed after Spike had come back from his misadventures, and Twilight had just levitated him up to his bed so he could sleep in peace, and not standing on the library floor. Twilight had finished his chores, cleaning the library and dusting the shelves. It wasn't hard work when she used her magic. She noticed Spike's backpack on the floor next to the door. She checked to see if he had collected the books, they were there. She used her magic once again and lifted the books and placed them on their spots in the library. She didn't notice the strange leaves lying in the backpack.

Spike woke up the next morning, feeling as usual. The buzz had weared off, but he had a strange feeling that he wanted more of the strange plant. He tip-toed out of the room to go down to the library. To his relief, the ragged brown backpack was still lying where he had left it, with the leaves still in it. He remembered that the smoke had appeared when he had accidentally made them burn. He thought that it wouldn't be such a good idea to spout fire inside the library, so he went outside, walking behind the enormous tree and picked the leaves out from the backpack. He examined them for a while, the leaf was a dark tint of green, and it had 9 seperate leaves on it. He laid it down on the ground and inhaled, and puffed out a small green flame. The leaf started to crumple and creating smoke. Spike bent down on his knees and inhaled the smoke, before letting it out through his nostrils. He started chuckling to himself and started singing Fluttershy's part from ''At the gala'' really loud while trying to muffle his laughter. He laid down on his back, looking up at the sky. He grinned when seeing the clouds in the sky. He reached out his claw, attempting to pinch it. Right when he pinched down his claw, Rainbow Dash zoomed past through the cloud, as it was her day to clear the sky and she was going for a new record. He didn't notice her, he thought that he did it by himself.

'AAAAAAAARRGGGHHHHHH! MR. CLOUDY, WHAT HAVE I DONE!' He was down on his back, trying to get back up but he was just sprawling on the spot, not going anywhere, until he rolled onto his stomach, pushing himself up with his arms. He took another quick sniff from the smoke from the leaf and stomped it out, picking up his backpack, ready for whatever that came at him.

-----

Zecora had been to her sister in Fillydelphia, she was tired and had to relax, and what's a better way to relax than to smoke a little weed? She tore the note off her door and walked in. It was just as she left it, with the artefacts from her origins still where they were supposed to be. She threw off her saddlebags and drank some water, before walking out behind her house. When she was outside her house she quickly made her way behind it. She looked in the basket where she had placed the books, they were gone so she knew that Spike had come by and picked up the books. When she turned around to see her bush, she gasped and ran up to it.

'What has happened to my bush, and who stole my kush?' She stomped her hoof to the ground, and then she saw the burnt edges of some of the twigs.

'I must proceed, to the dragon who stole my weed.' She realised quickly that weed and a baby dragon wouldn't mix well.

Spike was walking through Ponyville chuckling to himself on and off, when he suddenly felt hungry. He saw Sugarcube Corner in the distant, he slowly made his way until he walked into a golden-orange stallion who he quickly identified to be Snails. Spike stood up slowly, and Snips came towards Spike, straightening himself to make him look as big as possible.

'Hey! What was that good for?' His scratchy voice bothered Spike a little.

'Whoah dude, I- I didn't see him...' Spike said timidly.

'You better LOOK where you're going next time.' Snips pushed his face on Spike's, he heard Spike chuckle. 'What's so funny?' He shot back at Spike.

'You and Snails aren't really the brightest around.' Spike continued chuckling to himself, he saw the pale cyan unicorn infront of him getting mad. Snails started trying to stab Spike's face with his horn, Spike continued chuckling as he grabbed Snips's horn and tossed him away like he was nothing. Snails laughed at the whole thing. As Snips stood up, he wiped his face with his right hoof, staring at the still grinning and chuckling dragon. Spike walked past them and into the Sugarcube Corner. He was greeted by Mrs. Cake behind the counter.

'Hello dearie, what can I get for you today? She asked, the tone of her voice rising slightly.

He chuckled and pointed at a pink cupcake on the front row. She picked it up for him, placing it infront of him. Spike started drooling as he saw the cupcake. He grabbed a few bits from his backpack and threw them on the counter, quickly snatching the cupcake and ran out from the building. He ran into the park, avoiding ponies as he ran towards an old oak tree. He sat down beneath it and started eating the cupcake. After one bite, he moaned. It was SO good, he thought that Pinkie Pie must've made it.

'Well Ms. Cupcake.' He started, he had developed a habit to talk to his food before eating it.

'I saw you there inside the shop, you were looking at me...' He brought the cupcake closer to his face, staring at it until he was almost cross-eyed.

'I know you want me, and I want you...' He said seductively, carefully licking off some frosting.

'You liked that, didn't you...' He took another bite from it, moaned again. He stared at the cupcake in his hand again, but now he devoured it completely.

'Aww yeah...' He leaned his back to the tree and chuckled at the thought of Twilight's horn going soft like it did four years ago. It ended up with him rolling around on the ground by the tree, laughing at the whole thing.

-----

He had been lying on his back for about 30 minutes, chuckling at everything around him until he saw Twilight and Fluttershy walk into the park, looking at him and walking towards him.

'Oh crap...' He stood up on shaky legs, it felt like they was about to give in beneath him at any time, he reached out one arm against the tree and leaned towards it.

'Spike!' Twilight was really mad at him, it was probably because he sneaked out of the library when she was still asleep. 'Where have you been this morning?!' She was shouting at him, just infront of him. He was struggling to keep his balance. Fluttershy was her normal timid self, but she was startled by the unicorn infront of her. She had laid down, squeaked and covered her ears with her hooves and clenching her eyes shut.

'Uh, I've been around...' He had to stop himself from laughing at the yellow pegasus behind Twilight, making a muffled noise of laughter. He recieved a look that could kill a small creature from Twilight. He instantly stopped laughing. '...Around Ponyville...' He tried his pokerface, but it ended up to be a twisted grin. Twilight continued to stare him down, she could be really convincing when she wanted to.

'What. Have you. Been doing?' Her rock-hard expression was about to crack him, she moved her head closer to his, her horn touching his front spike on his head.

'Uh.... Stuff...' He was scared of the lavender pony infront of him, but he was also scared to tell the truth.

'Fluttershy!' Twilight shouted at the pegasus behind her, recieving a squeak.

'Yes, Twilight..' She said, as she opened her right eye, staring at Twilight.

'Could you be so kind to use the stare on Spike?' She said, getting a gasp both from Spike and Fluttershy.

'You, you can't be serious...' Fluttershy said, standing up and backing away, her eyes still firm on Twilight.

Spike stood motionless between Fluttershy and Twilight, his eyes darting between the two ponies. He knew about the stare and what it could do, he was starting to panic.

'Yes, I can be serious, Fluttershy. I need to know what he's doing sneaking out in the morning. Her patience was long since gone.

'YOU WILL NEVER CATCH ME! TO THE BATCAVE!' Spike shouted to the shocked ponies in front of him, grabbing his backpack and running away flailing his arms and going ''NANANANANANANANANA'', leaving the two friends in the dust.

'Wha- what just happened...' Twilight stammered, she was confused. She hated being confused.

'What batcave...' Fluttershy knew of many caves with bats in them, but she didn't know which one and why he would run into one.

-----

Spike had been running around Ponyville, until he found a good spot to hide. It was his sanctuary, he could do whatever he wanted but he was thinking of Twilight. He shivered when he eventually would have to tell her of what he had been doing. 'Dumb leaves...' He muttered. If he hadn't went to Zecora's to pick up the books all of this wouldn't have happened. 'Stupid flower...' He was thinking of all the things he could blame, but he couldn't blame Twilight for wanting what was best for him. All he felt when he thought of Twilight was remorse. And then he thought of Zecora. What would she think of him when he took those leaves from that bush? The thoughts invaded his thought. 'I'm sorry...' He said out loud, almost screaming it.

'Spike?' He heard Twilight's voice. How could she know where he was, it was strange.

'How did you know where I was? What are you doing here?' He shot back, making it sound more agressive than it was supposed to be.

'Spike. You're in your basket with your cover on top of you, in my room.' Twilight thought that it was weird that he didn't think that she would be able to see him beneath his covers. But he had been acting strange the last two days.

'Oh...' Spike suddenly felt really stupid for thinking that it would work. He poked his head through the covers and looked up at her. It was visible that she had been stressed and worried. It only made Spike feel worse.

'Spike...' She said, her voice soft. 'Please tell me what you have been doing, I'm worried out of my mind...' She sat down besides him.

'Okay Twi, I will...' Spike looked up at her, she was smiling down at him.

'Thank you.' Was all she said, allowing him to continue.

Spike started explaining how he went to Zecora's to pick up the books. He told her that he tripped and made the small bush burn, and created the smoke that made him feel strange. He reached to the back pack and picked up a leaf from the strange bush, showing it to her. She listened to all he had to say, laughing at his confrontation with the apple tree and how he had been inspecting his hands. She was surprised that Rainbow Dash hadn't bucked him in the face for what he did. But when he came to the part with her and her coat, both of them bursted out laughing.

'Spike, you shouldn't have inhaled that smoke, it must have been some kind of drug.' She said while inspecting the leaf he had shown her.

'I know, but it felt really good and everything felt so real.' He stated, looking at the unicorn mare besides him.

'Really?' She was starting to get curious.

'Yes, really.' He answered flatly.

'So, you just burned the leaf and then you inhaled the smoke?' She looked down at the dragon standing besides her.

'Pretty much, yeah...' He wondered why she was asking him so many questions.

Twilight was amazed how the small leaf could make everything realistic, she had many more questions that needed to be answered. But she knew that the best answers is answered with experiments.

'Hey Spike.'

Yeah?' He was getting sick of all the questions.

'Want to try a little experiment?' Spike looked up at the lavender unicorn, who was grinning and looking at the leaf. He immediately understood what she was talking about.

'Far out!' He exclaimed, grabbing the leaf and puffing a small green flame at it. Still a little surprised at her reaction. Both of them was quickly lost in the smoke.

Authors note: Sorry for taking so long for this chapter, I lost motivation for a bit but I scraped this chapter together, and sorry for it being so short too.

Spike and Twilight was long gone in the smoke. Twilight had never felt like this, she felt good, but strange. She wasn't used to this feeling, and she didn't know how she was going to describe it. But she didn't care about science at this moment. She looked at Spike, he was sitting down with his arms resting on the floor behind him, leaning back. He seemed to be relaxed like she was. Both of them chuckled at random things. Twilight looked down at the stoned dragon who was inspecting his feet.

'Hey Spike...' She said, lazily looking down at him.

'Yeah?' He was still looking at his feet.

'What will Zecora think of you taking... Taking those leaves?' She asked, slowly lying down on her back, staring at the ceiling.

'I- I haven't really thought of that, actually. But when she asks, I'll explain it.'

'Alright then, good.' She laid back down, and started thinking about food. She started to feel hungry. 'Hey Spike...'

'Yeah?'

'I'm hungry...' She sat up and looked at the dragon who got up on his feet when he was done inspecting them.

'Me too... Let's go grab something to eat.'

He started walking towards the door leading down into the library, with Twilight following him. They decided to go to the diner outside Ponyville to get a hayburger. The bright light outside stung Twilight's eyes, she got quickly used to it and walked past the houses, trying to avoid direct eye contact with anypony. She quickened her pace. Spike was sitting on her back, it was getting bumpy for him, almost too bumpy for his liking. Before he knew it, she stumbled a little, making him fly up a little higher than he wanted, and he slammed down on her back with his legs spread, hurting his ''gems''. Even with them being inside him, it still hurt. Really bad. Twilight heard a loud grunt, and him mumble words young fillies or colts never should hear, while groaning a little. She stopped and looked back at him, he was leaning towards her neck, and holding his hands on a place she usually didn't approve.

'Spike?' She was curious to see if he hurt himself badly.

'Urghh, yeah?...' He was obviously not okay, as he continued to mumble words I would be crucified for using in this fic.

'Are you okay back there?' She asked anyways, recieving a look that could challenge Fluttershy's stare in staring down a grown dragon. She shuddered and continued walking. When she faced forward, her head hit the chest of a stallion. She was dazed for a while, but she felt embarassed when she looked at the white pegasus infront of her. He had a really short marine mane with a streak of indigo. He looked down at her with a confused look. He wasn't as tall as Big Mac, but he was still taller than her. He was wearing a blue bandana around his neck. It looked good on him.

'Uh, are you okay?' He asked, looking down at her eyes. Twilight looked up at him, he had sapphire blue eyes. She remembered that her eyes could still have the same pink tint as before, she looked down at the ground.

'Yes, I'm fine. Sorry about that...' She said, looking down at her hooves, trying not to make eye contact with him.

'You sure, 'cause you look a little tired.' He said, looking at her, then at the swearing dragon on her back.

'I'm fine, I'm just a little tired as you said, bye.' She trotted off, but this time a little slower so Spike wouldn't go through that again. She looked back to see that the stallion turned a little against her, looking at her even more confused than he was before.

'Strange mare...' He said to himself, as he continued his walk to the city hall.

-----

Spike had stopped his swearing, and chuckled at the incident. Twilight was relieved that he didn't swear anymore, she had heard words she never had heard before, and she really didn't want to know the meaning of most of them.

'You okay back there, Spike?'

'Better, still hurts a little though.' He said, sitting upright on her back. 'How long until we're there?' The buzz was almost gone for both of them, but they were still hungry.

'We'll be there soon.' She said as she continued her trot for the diner that had opened a few weeks ago.

'Hey Twi.' Spike said, gaining the attention of the lavender mare he was sitting on. 'Who were you talking to when you stopped back in town?' Spike wanted to know who the stallion Twilight was talking to was, as he was busy fending off a nutcracker.

Twilight stopped in her tracks, thinking of the stallion. The way he was concerned of a clumsy mare in the middle of a small town. She didn't know who he was, but then she remembered the princess saying that two guards was coming to town, to go on a ''field test'', whatever that was. Twilight assumed that he was one of the two guards, as he had a bandana with the guard's emblem.

'I don't know who he is, but last week the princess sent me a letter saying that two guards was coming here for a field test.' She paused and continued her trot towards the diner, 'I think that he might be one of them.'

'Alright.' He simply said.

They continued chatting about random topics they thought of, and before they knew it, they were at the diner. They walked inside and took a seat in the corner. Three minutes later a light green mare who was just a little shorter than Twilight came up to them and greeted them.

'What're y'all havin'? She asked them, while smiling. Twilight looked at the menu, Spike had already made up his mind.

'I'll have a hayburger with extra cheese.' He had already decided what he was going to eat on their way to the diner.

'I'll just have a salade, please.' Twilight said after she had finally made up her mind of what she was having.

'Anythin' else?' The mare asked, looking at Spike and then on Twilight. Both of them shook their heads. 'Alrighty then, It'll take five minutes.' She said, walking away. Spike leaned back in his seat, they were comfortable. Twilight was staring out through the window, her thoughts racing. Spike noticed.

'You okay, Twi?' He asked, concerned for the mare on the other side of the table.

She was pulled out from her thoughts and shook her head. Forgetting about her thoughts. 'Yes, I'm fine. I was just thinking a little.' As she finished her sentence, the waitress came back and gave them their food. Spike instantly took a mouthful.

'Thinking about what?' He was curious of what it was that made her loose track of everything like that.

'Oh, nothing...'

'It didn't seem like nothin.' Spike really wanted to know what she had been thinking about.

'I was just thinking how I'm going to add this up to a report, that's all.' She assured him.

'Okay then.' He said as they continued eating their respective meals.

Note: If you find any stupid spelling errors/grammar, tell me and I'll adjust it.

It was the day after Twilight and Spike had smoked, and Twilight was out in town to run a couple of errands on her own. Spike was alone in the library, he was bored and he didn’t know what to do, but what was even worse, he was out of strange leaves. He and Twilight smoked what was left of it later on the evening yesterday and that was a decision he regretted. He decided that it was time to come clean with Zecora of what happened that day. As he was walking towards the door of the library, he heard three firm knocks. He opened the door to see the zebra he was on his way to. She looked like she was pissed. She was staring down at him, and he was surprised to see her standing there. He managed to make a weak grin.

’Oh... Hi Zecora...’ He grabbed his tail and twisted it slowly.

‘Where’s my kush, and why did you do that with my bush?’ Zecora said as she walked past him into the library.

’It was an accident, I swear!’ Spike turned around and looked her straight in her eyes. ’I only went there to pick up the books, and you weren’t there so I saw the note so I went behind your house and looked in a ton of baskets before I found the books but then I tripped and shot a small flame at the bush and it started burning!’ He inhaled sharply. ’I tried to put out the fire and I did! But that funny smoke made me feel strange and I took some leaves from it and I’M SO SORRY!’ He dropped down on his stomach and clenched her arms around her left foreleg. Zecora was able to hear most of what he said, and looked down at the small dragon holding a firm grip around her leg. She didn’t know what to say, and had no idea of how she was going to rhyme it.

‘Spike, you are forgiven, but if you would have asked, you could have been given.’

‘Really?’ He softened his grip and looked up at the zebra in front of him.

‘Yes, really.’ She smiled as she looked down at him.

‘Thanks, I feel alot better now that I told you...’ He stood up and dusted off his stomach. He thought that he really should clean the library later.

Zecora nodded and smiled as she started walking towards the door. ’I have to go, I have other things to take care of.’

’Uh, Zecora... That didn’t rhyme...’ He pointed out.

‘Give me a break, you little drake.’ She said, never looking back as she walked through the door and out to the town.

Spike stood dumbfounded and stared at the open door. ‘Did Zecora just snap at me?’ He asked himself, still taking in the whole situation that occured. ’Oh well...’ He started cleaning the library, sweeping the floor and picking up scattered books that he and Twilight had used as hats the evening before. He proceeded into the kitchen, he winced when he saw the mess in the kitchen. Dishes stacked everywhere and a questionable stain on the middle of the floor. He sighed and went to work. Three hours later as Twilight came back, she heard the familiar snore of a baby dragon sleeping in the kitchen. He had cleaned the entire tree they lived in, he had worked himself to the bone. She chuckled and levitated him to his bed. He didn’t notice flowing through the air, he was way too tired to care.

-----

He woke up several hours later by an all to familiar rumble in his stomach, he stood up besides his bed and placed his arms on his back and stretched it, making a few cracks and pops sound from it. He yawned and walked towards the door, he heard voices downstairs but he didn’t really care of who it was down there, he wanted to eat. As he was on the base of the stairs he looked around to see who was there, it was three of Twilight’s friends.

‘Sup Twi, Dash, Pinkie and Rarity?.’ He said as he walked past them into the kitchen, he never looked up at them. He normally would have stared at Rarity and never let her go with his eyes, but he was almost too hungry to care. Rainbow Dash hovered in the middle of the library and saw the small dragon walk across the room like he was on a track. His eyes was locked on the door leading to the kitchen, and not on Rarity as they usually would be.

‘Have you guys noticed anything... Strange about Spike lately?’ She asked her friends with a concerned look.

’I haven’t noticed anything strange with Spikey-wikey-likey-dikey-pi-’ The energetic pink pony was interrupted by the rainbow maned pegasi ’I THINK. We got it, Pinkie...’

‘Okey dokey lokey!’ She said as she continued her bouncing around the stacks.

‘Now, do any of you guys, EXCEPT for Pinkie.’ She stared at her pink friend before she continued. ’Notice anything strange about Spike?

’I can’t say I haven’t seen any differences on the dear, except that he wasn’t staring at me like he always does. But then, I haven’t seen him in a couple of days.’ Rarity said, as she looked at the door where the dragon had walked through a couple of minutes before. ‘How about you, Twilight? Have you seen anything strange about Spike?’ She turned to face her lavender friend putting away a couple of books.

’Uh, what? Oh.. No, I haven’t really noticed anything strange with him, maybe he’s just having a bad day?’ She wanted them to talk about something else than that, as it could reveal their ’‘experiment’’.

The rainbow mane mare snorted. ‘More like bad week the way he’s been acting...’ She dropped down on the floor and sat down. ’I met him a couple of days ago a bit away from the Sweet Apple Acres, he had been running. And when I landed to ask what’s up, he screamed and laid down until he saw that it was me.’ She stood up and flared her cyan wings. ‘And then he walked up to me and twirled his claw in my mane, I had to shout at him to stop and he just looked up at me and grinned, and then on his claws and muttered something!’ The part with her mane made all of her friends in the room giggle. ‘Shut up!’ She snapped at them. ‘It’s not funny...’

‘Yes it was!’ Pinkie chirped as she bounced on the spot besides Rainbow Dash.

’It all seems strange, does it not?’ Rarity added as she brought a hoof to her chin, obviously thinking. ‘Maybe I should go ask him what’s wrong?’ She asked her friends. Dash nodded as she hovered back into the air, Twilight nodded slowly, unsure if she should allow it or not. Pinkie was bouncing on the spot while trying desperately to whistle, but when she noticed that everypony was waiting for her reply, she immediately dropped to the ground and nodded with her eyes closed. ‘Well then, here I go.’ She had her eyes closed and her head tilted a little towards the ceiling she made her way into the kitchen where the young dragon was making himself a massive sandwich.

‘Spike?’ She asked, he was obviously concentrated on his task.

‘Hmph-Yeah?’ He said, he really didn’t want to be disturbed right now, even by Rarity.

‘Has something been bothering you lately after the way you have been acting? She didn’t want to push an answer from him.

‘I’m fine, nothing has been bothering me.’ He turned around and looked at her with a stern look with his arms crossed and leaning towards the counter. ‘Since when do YOU care about how I feel? You have always ignored me...’ He turned again and continued. ‘Just... Just go...’

‘Spike...’ She backed away from him, giving him some space.

’Go.’ He muttered as he clenched his claws into the counter.

He heard the sound of her leaving, he regretted what he said to her. ’Rarity wait...’

‘Yes?’ She turned a little and looked at him.

‘Look, I’m sorry... I don’t know what have gotten into me lately after those leaves... I can’t stop it, I just want more of them...’ He looked down at the floor, and then up at her.

‘Spike, what are you talking about? What leaves?’ She took a few steps towards him.

‘Okay... This is how it all started...’

Note: If you find any stupid mistakes, don't hesitate to tell me. Expect a conclusion

'Sp-Spike...' Rarity stammered, she couldn't believe what she just had been told by the young dragon infront of her. 'You and Twilight.. Did drugs?' She was at loss of words, she didn't think that he would ever do something like that, but what surprised her even more was that Twilight also had tried it. Spike looked up from the floor into her eyes and nodded.

'Yeah, we did... It was an accident the first time, but then I wanted more of it and I couldn't stop... And when Twilight found out I explained it to her and then she wanted to try it out by doing an experiment...' He walked up to her with his eyes locked on the floor infront of her. 'It just feels so good.'

'Is Twilight. Zecora and me the only ponies who know about this?' Rarity asked him, which he answered with a slow nod.

'Please don't get too mad or disappointed in me!' He almost shouted, startling the unicorn. They had been talking for almost ten minutes with eachother about it.

'I cannot get mad at you, Spike but I can be disappointed for you to do such a thing.' Spike's head dropped even lower than before before she continued. 'But I won't be, as this is hard for you and as one of your friends, I will help you get through this.' Spike couldn't believe his ears, he just looked up at her and stared with his eyes wide. 'I believe we should go out into the main room so you can tell the others about this.'

'NO!' I mean.. No, I don't want to tell the others about this yet...' He looked up at her with pleading eyes.

'I understand, you should tell them when you're ready. Come on, let's not stand around in here for the rest of the day.' She said as she turned around and walked towards the door leading out of the kitchen with Spike following her. Before he walked out of the room he turned around and looked at his sandwich. He brought his hand to his head and pointed two of his claws to his eyes and turned his hand towards the sandwich and pointed at it. 'Are you coming, Spike?' He heard Rarity call after him, he was snapped out from his trance and walked out to the room where the others were.

-----

'What did you two talk about? Twilight asked, fearing a certain answer.

Spike and Rarity exchanged glances, trying to think of something. Spike realised that she was going to find out in some way, so the best thing he could do was to say it in a way Dash and Pinkie wouldn't understand what he meant. He sighed and walked closer to her.

'The experiment.' He answered with his eyes closed. This was the answer that Twilight feared. Her mouth hung open and her eyes shrunk. She looked back at Rarity who was looking at her with a stern but understanding look. Rainbow Dash was confused. 'Why the hay would Spike talk about some experiment with Rarity that Twilight obviously didn't like?' She thought to herself as she hovered down to the ground and stood next to Twilight. Pinkie was bouncing around in the room without a care in the world.

'What experiment? And why would you talk about it with Lil' miss generous if Twilight didn't like that you talked about it?' Dash demanded answers from the young dragon . She walked up to him and pushed her head onto his. 'Well, Spike?'

Spike didn't know what to do, he started panicking. But he was careful not to talk about the ''experiment'' yet. He had run out of options so he placed his hands on Rainbow's puffed out chest and with primal strength he pushed her away and made her skid a few feet. 'HEY!' Rainbow shouted, and zipped back to Spike hovering just above him. 'What did you do that for?'

Spike realised what he just did. 'Sorry, Rainbow... I just don't like it when ponies get that close to me like you did there, and I panicked and pushed you away a little harder than I intended...' He was ashamed, and Twilight walked up next to him and faced Dash. 'I- It's okay Rainbow, really. It was an experiment that me and Spike was going to tell all of you about later, but Spike told Rarity about it already... It was supposed to be a surprise.' At the exact moment she finished her sentence, Pinkie stopped in mid-air and grinned.

'OOOH OOOOH! I LOVE SURPRISES!' She screamed, overjoyed. 'But if you know that it's going to be a surprise it's not going to be a surprise anymore and that just makes the surpriseinvalidandthat'snotfunforanyponybeca-' She continued rambling about surprises in an impressing speed, but it was Pinkie Pie after all.

The rest of the ponies and the dragon in the room stared at the pink pony who just wouldn't be quiet. 'Sooo...' Rainbow Dash said as she rolled her eyes away from Pinkie Pie and looked at Twilight again. 'You two was going to show us some weird experiment as a surprise?' She said as she was hovering lazily around the room.

'Yes, that was the plan, until SOMEdragon spoiled it...' She felt horrible for lying to her friends like this, but she was going to tell them all about it eventually.

'SEEMS LEGIT!' The cyan pegasus shouted as she zipped out through the door leading out to the town, leaving a rainbow trail behind her. Pinkie bounced out through the door still rambling about surprises and oatmeal. The two ponies and the dragon left in the library decided to sit down and talk about it.

'So, Twilight... I understand that the last time you two decided to... *ahem* smoke, it was your idea?' She sat down and asked the lavender unicorn.

Twilight joined her and looked at her, and then at the floor. 'Yes... Yes it was.. I was just so curious to find out if it was as good as he said that it was...' She was ashamed for not thinking about it further like she always does with other things.

'Well I can't blame you for being curious about such a thing.' Rarity said as she placed a hoof on Twilight's chin, making her look at her.

'Wha- What do you mean? She was confused, she just looked up in her eyes.

'Remember all those years ago when I was in Canterlot when you and the rest of our friends showed up after I couldn't come to your birthday party? Rarity said as she shifted uneasily in her seat.

'How can I ever forget?' Twilight said as she giggled and remembered that night.

'Then you should also remember that fellow Fancy Pants, yes?'

'Yeah...' Twilight didn't know what Rarity was going to say about him.

'Let´s just say.. Let's just say that it was a really stressful time and I had a very hard time to relax there on my own, he noticed it and offered me some pills...' Now it was Rarity's turn to look down at the floor in shame. 'He never told me exactly what it was, but it helped me relax enough so I could go to an art gallery amongst other things.' Rarity looked at Spike, his eyes was bigger than what she had ever seen them the same was with Twilight. Their mouths was hanging open. Twilight was the first to compose herself.

'So... You were high while being with the top layers of the Canterlot community?' Twilight asked, still surprised and as she nudged Spike to try and get him to relax.

'Most of the time, yes.' She answered, looking at her lavender friend.

'A-And at the party...' Twilight stammered, she couldn't believe her own ears.

'High as the Canterlot castle's west tower.' She answered nonchalantly.

'Whoah...' Was all Spike could muster to say.

Spiked Flowers 6

Note: Another short chapter, the next chapter will be the last chapter of Spiked Flowers so I can start working on Endurance. As always, if you find any stupid spelling/grammar errors tell me and I'll fix it

It was the day that Twilight feared. The day she and Spike would tell her friends about the ''experiment'' they conducted. Rarity already knew about it, but it was still unnerving to tell her friends about it. She was wandering aimlessly through the library, tapping her hooves on the floor, going through what she was going to say several times so she wouldn't forget. She had sent Spike to collect a few more leaves from Zecora so they would have something to show them. She was walking through the library when the young dragon stepped inside.

'Spike! Did you get the leaves? She asked, stressed out of her mind.

'Yeah, and then some!' He reached out his backpack, it was filled with leaves that they could show in the experiment, and for ''further studies''. He looked up at the frantic unicorn wandering around in the library. 'Uh, Twilight... Are you okay?' As soon as he asked her she froze in her movement, grinned and looked at him.

'I'm MORE than okay, I'm about to tell my friends that I have been smoking weed. With a dragon.' She said, her words was dripping with sarcasm, he only gave her a flat look and rubbed his claws on the bridge of his nose between his eyes.

'Twilight, are you sure about this? We can still call it off, y'know.'

'No, I can't stand lying to them anymore, I have to tell them!' She shouted at him, he ignored it and walked past her and flipped the bird.

'What did you just do with your claw?' She followed him and leaned towards him a little.

'Nuthin'.' He lied as he tossed his backpack to the corner of the room and started picking up a few scattered books lying around on the library floor. He was used to Twilight being frantic about things like these, it would often end up in a disaster, or end up hilarious but most of the time both. She continued her wander through the library, going through her speech for herself a couple of more times before she was ready. A knock on the door interrupted her, she walked to the door and put on a fake smile as she welcomed her friends.

-----

The first one to come was Applejack, who always was on time, then Pinkie Pie who arrived with Fluttershy. Ten minutes later, Rainbow Dash walked through the door while yawning, she had taken a nap and forgot the time she was supposed to be at the library. Last to arrive was Rarity who claimed to be ''fashionably late'', when she was just late. Twilight told them to take a seat on the library floor when she walked infront of her friends with a few notes levitating besides her. Dash groaned when she saw the bundle of papers she was carrying. Spike took his backpack and stood besides Twilight, who cleared her throat.

'Thanks for coming this evening.'

'You're welcome!' Pinkie chirped.

'Uh, yeah Pinkie... SO! As I was about to say, thanks for coming by this evening so Spike and me could show you what we have been doing this last week during our sessions. Rainbow, this will explain Spike's strange behaviour when you met him a couple of days ago.' Spike made a weak grin as he looked at the rainbow-maned mare. She acted as she wasn't interested, but she was burning up to find out what was wrong with him. 'This may sound strange, but believe me, this IS possible.'

Spike opened his backpack and Twilight levitated one of the leaves out from the backpack. She quickly examined the leaf before she levitated it so it was infront of her.

'This particular leaf is from a strange plant, who only grows in the Everfree forest in particular places. When you put it on fire or makes it burn, it creates an odd smoke that when inhaled, it changes your perspective of reality. It may sound strange, but it is very much true. This explains Spike's behaviour when you met him, Rainbow.' Rainbow Dash was surprised that such a little thing could warp reality like that.

'Fluttershy, do you remember when you and me went searching after Spike and found him in the park?' She recieved an ''eep'' as a yes from the timid pegasus who was listening on everything she said. 'Spike was influenced by the strange leaf when he met us there.'

Everypony except for Twilight let out a few ooh's and aah's as she explained it further, but when she came to the part when she had used it, she started hesistating but a gentle push from Spike and she told them. They couldn't believe their own ears, the prized student of Celestia had used drugs. But it was only on one occasion so it wasn't that bad. They even asked if they could hold the leaves for themselves, and after a quick show and tell everypony had seen the leaves. Except for Fluttershy, who was afraid that she would be affected as soon as she touched it. When Spike had collected the leaves and was on his way to put them back in his backpack, Dash asked him a question.

'So, Spike... Those leaves...'

'What about them?' He turned his head around as he walked towards his backpack.

'What does it feel like when you're affected by them?

'Well... You don't feel anything at first, but after a-WHOAH.' He tripped on a book he had forgotten to place back on the shelves, and landed on his stomach. His stomach was sensitive to hits as it would often make him spout a small ball of fire. It happened and the small ball of fire hit its mark on the backpack filled with leaves. He could see the smoke rise and all the ponies inside didn't notice.

'Oh fu-'

Spiked Flowers 7

Same as always, if you find any stupid grammar/spelling errors, tell me and I'll fix it.

’-dge...’ Spike commented as he saw the smoke rise from the burning backpack. He knew from experience that it was no use in trying to stop it now, and it would be really funny to see how Twilight’s friends would react.

10 minutes later, the smoke had affected everypony in the library. Spike was used to the initial buzz but Twilight and her friends wasn’t. Rainbow and Applejack had slumped down on their haunches. Their mouths was slightly open and they leaned against eachother for support. Applejack suddenly started chuckling without a reason, and Rainbow followed her lead. Spike was sitting against the wall opposite of the stoned athletes and chuckled at their expressions.

Pinkie Pie was lying on her back and mumbling something, she was unusually quiet and still. Fluttershy was talking like there was no tomorrow. She was talking about everything in the library. Apparently, chairs are evil and sent from another dimension to take over Equestria, according to her. She sat besides the mumbling party pony, poking her friends bouncy hair every second that passed. It was like they had switched personalities. Spike thought that it was strange to hear Fluttershy to talk so much and it was almost annoying, but he just leaned back against the wall and looked up at the ceiling, then at Rarity and Twilight.

Rarity was trying hard to stand up, but she gave up and slumped down on her haunches and made a small smile. It didn’t take long until she laid down on the library floor, ignoring that the floor might be dirty. This was unlike her, she would usually never even think of lying down on the floor as it would make her feel unclean and panic. She was looking at Spike straight into his eyes with her eyes half-closed and a small grin plastered on her face. It didn’t take long until she started giggling at something. Spike had no idea of what was going on, but he kept looking into her eyes. He suddenly felt as if someone was staring at him intensely. He slowly turned his head and met Twilight’s gaze. He felt a strong shiver go down his spine just from her staring at him, he couldn’t help but to think a few very unflattering words repeatedly as the angry librarian walked towards him.

‘Spike...’ She said in a dark, cold voice that sent another wave of shivers through him. ‘What. Did you do.’ That wasn’t a question, that was an order that he had to answer. He started rubbing his left arm with his right arm while looking up at her apologetically.

’I uh... Uh..’ Spike managed to stammer before Twilight hardened her stare. Twilight was extremely persuasive moments like these, high or not. ’I sort of tripped... And... And I fell and I mayhaveaccidentallyspoutedfireatthebackpackfilledwiththeleaves!’ He shouted and took a deep breath.

‘Wait what? A little slower, please.’ Twilight’s gaze softened as she only managed to hear something about an accident.

’I kinda forgot to pick up one book, and I tripped on it and fell... Then I landed on my stomach and spouted a teensy weensy ball of fire at the backpack with all the leaves, heh heh...’ Twilight looked at the stressed baby dragon in front of her, and gave him an assuring smile that told him that she wasn’t going to yell at him anymore. After an awkward silence, Twilight burst out laughing at the whole situation. Spike joined in on the laughter and all her friends started laughing with them too, but they had no idea what they were laughing at.

-----

Everypony in the library was lying on their backs in the middle of the room and was quiet. Even Fluttershy didn’t talk. They were just lying there, inspecting the ceiling.

’Spike..’ Rainbow muttered as she lazily looked at him.

‘Yeah?’ He answered automatically.

‘We got some of that weird smoke from those leaves, right?’ She asked him in a serious tone.

Spike started chuckling and explained once again how he tripped and set fire on the backpack again. By the end of the explanation, everypony was laughing.

They continued the evening by talking about random topics that somepony would just think of at the spot until Spike got hungry. ‘I’ll be back in a couple of minutes.’ He said as he stood on unstable legs and started walking towards the kitchen. A mischievious grin made its way onto Rainbow Dash’s face. She whispered something to her friends, they were going to have some fun with poor Spike.

When Spike walked back to the main room, nopony was there. He first thought that they had gone outside, but when he saw that the door was still locked, he dismissed that thought and moved on.

‘Twilight?’ No answer.

’AJ?’ No answer again.

‘Rarity..?’ Still no answer, he made a small squeal as he continued searching.

His search lead him to the door to the basement where Twilight keeps her weird inventions. He heard a soft giggle and a hushing sound from the door and realised that he had hit the jackpot. He slowly opened the door and looked inside. Nopony was there. He took a few steps inside and looked around. He couldn’t see anypony. He was starting to feel a little scared. He took a few more cautious steps and when he looked down at the floor beneath him, he could see a poorly drawn cross.

‘What the hay?’ He said as he heard a sudden crash from above, looking up he saw something that looked like Dash, and it was heading straight for him. He didn’t notice that he was walking backwards toward the edge of the platform and before he could react, he fell backwards and let out a scream that didn’t exactly fit for a dragon his age, or his gender. He screamed like a little filly in other words. It wasn’t that high, but it still was an unpleasant drop. It felt like an eternity and his mind was going faster than Dash after her Sonic Rainboom and he wasn’t exactly complimenting the cyan mare in his thoughts. He braced himself for the rough landing that never happened. He was cushioned by magic, Twilight had caught him with her telekinesis. Everypony laughed when they saw his expression.

‘Hey Spines, nice little squeak you got there!’ Rainbow Dash mocked when she landed next to her breathless friends.

‘I’M GOING TO BUCKING KILL YOU, DASH!’ Spike shouted as he jumped the chocked mare. Rainbow was scared out of her mind and everypony else were laughing at the display.

-----

When Spike had finally calmed down with Twilight having to use her magic to pull him off Rainbow three times, he started laughing like a maniac. Everypony shared glances with eachother while putting on fake smiles. They all thought that he was insane, and nervously laughed with him.

It was starting to get late, and everypony started heading to their respective homes. Twilight was lying on the couch in the library, thinking. She had many thoughts swirling around in her head, but one question was the clearest.

’‘What the hay should I report to Princess Celestia?’’

She was thinking as hard as she could to come up with something, the buzz from the leaves were gone. But then she got an idea. She levitated a scroll and a quill from the desk and started writing.

Dear Princess Celestia,

This week I have learned that accidents do happen, and you shouldn’t be afraid to tell somepony about them. (Oh boy, this sounds so wrong) There’s no shame in needing help from others from time to time, as the problem can also hide an answer. The problem can be a reason to do some ’‘scientific research’’ and open your eyes in a completely new way. And in the end, the problem can become a joy for others to enjoy with you.

Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle

P.s Get your sexy flank to Ponyville and have a good time!

P.p.s DAMMIT SPIKE

Princess Celestia looked up from the letter and looked around her empty room, it was late night and nopony was around at the time. She levitated a small roll of paper who was filled with some familiar leaves and was glowing in the end that wasn’t pointed to her. Her eyes had a soft pink tint and she chuckled as she read the last part of the letter.

’I have no idea what’s going on...’ She said as she levitated the blunt to her mouth and took a deep breath.
