Chapter 1: The Day Part I

The Day Part I

Today was the day. The day that would change everything. It was the day that humanity could finally stop hiding and be able to face the force that threatened our very existence. An alliance between the Ursas, dragons, hydras, griffons, and etc. Humanity has only been able to survive by hiding underground.

Only those who choose to fight have ever seen the sun. Even with our technology, flying ability, magic, and our increase in physical ability we hardly keep them at bay. If it wasn’t the evil ones then more of us would be able to live above ground. Their power could kill entire armies with a single blast. Even me and my team wouldn’t be able to take her down alone but now things were different.

Now we had the most powerful weapons in existence. The Elements of Light. Weapons that could make a nuclear warfare look like child’s play. Enough power that could destroy mountains with ease. Power that was even too much for the the great dragon king, Ares.

These weapons could only be used by a select few. Well mine is a weapon the others were varied between defense and offense. One had a shield that could block anything or a gauntlet that could heal any wound. Mine was a long, white cruciform sword that almost as tall as me. It’s power was that it acted like an extra horn.

My own power was great by itself but with my element, the Element of Will, the power inside me increased a hundredfold. Only me and five others have been gifted with these tools. With each element representing a different quality of light.

Well I kinda got sidetracked so lets get back to the story. As I said before today was the day. I still remember sprinting down the underground maze many learned to call home. The whole thing was held up by steel beams and enchanted stones that warded off diamond dogs. The maze was normally lite by your regular light bulbs that were placed at a five feet away from each other and under it was a metal door with a number on it.

There aren’t any maps down here so anyone who goes down here has to learn the way. Most of the people who have lived here for almost their entire lives have sometimes lost their way. Luckily for me I knew the path like the back of my hand. I ran past some of the new arrivals on my way who had hopelessly gotten themselves lost.

Running down these tunnels were only exercise I get besides the normal workouts you can do at home like sit-ups, push-ups, and crunches. Everyday I used to run the entire maze.

I still remember when I first did it. The throwing up, the fatigue, and how stupid I felt when I got completely and utterly lost when I did it. It took almost took me an hour to find my room. After doing it for about a month did I finally get to able to find my room without getting lost. Sadly though I was still about to pass out.

Now it was a completely different story. I could run this place ten times and not even break a sweat. It didn’t take me long to find out where everything was. If you asked me now how could you get to the training center I would give you in detailed instructions.

But today I wouldn’t be able to my run. Today I had was the day that would change everything. I would be given the briefing in the control center and then would be sent to the Everfree Forest via teleportation.

It must have taken me about ten minutes maximum to reach it. Like any other room the control center had a single steel door that was the entrance/exit to the room. The control center was like any head of control. The place had maps with little figures that represented soldiers in different places and about twenty people making changes to some of the maps that were on the walls. Finally, at the very back of the room was a door that led to the briefing room.

Inside was the people I could trust my very life to.

Each were like me. A bearer of one of the elements and each that held an important position to our fight. Each one was wearing their element. With the expectation of my B.S.B.F.F or B.S. for short.

“Its about time you got here. We were about to start without you.” This coming from our fastest/laziest flyer and the bearer of the Element of Devotion, Jordan McKinley a.k.a Rainbow Blitz.

The only person to ever have rainbow colored hair. He was the head of our elite flying force, the Wonderbolts. His element had molded itself to the shape of two rainbow colored lighting bolt knives with sheaths included. He was wearing a powder blue jacket with a yellow lightning bolt around the middle.

(Okay I think I forgot to tell that Rainbow Blitz was a male Angel. If you already got that good for you.)

“Yeah like you’re gonna start without the guy who came up with the plan in the first place.”

“Nate shut up and tell us the plan already.”

“Just give my few seconds.” I moved to the table that was in the middle of where everyone was sitting.

The table had a scale model of the headquarters that we were going to destroy that day. It was the homebase of the alliance and as an added bonus it was the home of their leaders, the dark ones. It was like killing two birds with one stone except we were actually killing three. The hit on this place would be something that would be talked about for ages and could actually turn the tides in our favor. If today became a bust then we might as well kiss our asses goodbye.

“We will arrive here.” pointing to one of the many alleys in this place. I used my magic to make seven little purple figures appear where I pointed. “Once we arrive we will be at the complete mercy of Elusive’s disguise gems.” My little figures turned into little blue figures. “From here we will make our way to the castle.”

“We can’t just walk up there that place has one of the tightest security there is.” This coming from the head of our ground forces David Freeman a.k.a Applejacker. His nickname coming from his tendency for turning guys into girls. He wore a bulletproof vest and camo pants. His element, the Element of Truth had turned itself into a shield.

“That’s why we will be coming during the guard shift that happens to come across this path.” Pointing to the figures that I changed into beating up the guards figures I just made.

“After we get inside we will have to blow our cover.”

“What? I thought my gems provided us with the perfect disguises for this mission.” This coming from the head of our Magical Defense Department. Alexander Mcross whose codename was Elusive for all of the rare gems that increased magical and physical abilities. He was the only person I knew to wear a tux twenty-four seven.

“It does but the gems give off a giant amount off magic. The castle completely blocks out all magical objects. Meaning that once we’re inside that our disguises will completely drop. Its the same reason that we can’t just teleport ourselves inside the building. We are only using the gems so we won’t be discovered once were on the castle grounds.”

“Little B if there is a magical board around the castle then how will me, you, and Elusive or your elements going to get past it.” asked my sis. She was a master of magical shields and healings.

“B.S. just let me finish okay.” this earned me an evil glare from her. For some reason whatever reason I found it funny. Luckily for me I was able to a professional face.

“What I was about to say was that it blocks high amounts of magic. If the shield were to block out all magic then no one would be to get inside including the guards because everyone possesses magic. Luckily for us our elements don’t give off high amounts magic unless we want them to.”

Then she went and killed my ears by saying “Then we blow up everything!!!”. That she was Diana Flutters. She gave herself the nickname Pinkie Pie.

This was without a doubt the craziest person in the world. When I say crazy I mean that she can throwing a giant party for living for another few seconds one moment then kill someone in the sickest way possible the next. For whatever reason her hair would change whenever she was crazy happy or just sick.

If she was happy, like she was now, her hair would be a giant puff of cotton candy. When she was sick she would deflate and become long and straight. Her hair only change between those two crazys. If the hair didn’t do it by itself then its impossible. Trust me everyone has tried doing this at least ten times.

I stopped trying after the hair tried to eat me.

After yelling at Pinkie for a couple minutes I was finally able to regain my hearing.

“Okay. Where was I?”

“You just told us how we’re going to get inside.” said B.S.

“Thanks sis. Is there any questions about the way of entry?”

Rainbow Blitz raised his. “Yeah if there is a force field blocking magic then how are you going to get inside?”

“That’s simple I’ll just have to lower my magic output then I should be fine.”

“You said that when you fought the dragon king. Now you have dragon powers that make you burst into flames whenever you want. Which I’m still upset about.”

“Blitz that was something completely different.”

“No, it isn’t. Last time you said that you could get into the dragon kings castle without him sensing you. Do you remember what happened Dusk do you?”

“Yes, of course I remember. I was the one who got squashed.”

“It wouldn't have happened if you could control your magic.”

“I can control it. I just have a hard time suppressing it.”

“I have to agree with Blitz here. You were never had any luck with keeping your magic at a low level. What makes you think that you can suppress it with the added power of your element and Ares’ power.” my big sister added.

I didn't have anything to say to that. It was clear that my control of my magic had always been exceedingly weak. I could turn a basic fire into a blazing inferno or a simple magic blast into manticore killing blast. Ever since then my power has only increased and that’s without the elements.

“But you guys still might need me. I’m one of the bearers you guys can’t just let me stay here.”

“Dusk you remember what happened after you got the dragon’s fire?”

“Yes.” I said grimly. “Well can I still give you guys backup.”

I looked every single one of my teammates to see if any of them would agree with me. I could see that no one wanted to leave me here and no one wanted my magic to ruin the mission.

“I....think.....he....should....come....with....us.”. It had been barely over a whisper when she said it. The last member or our group, Kim Flutters. She was about the polar opposite to Diana, her sister, she was always so quiet, but there was something that she and her sister had in common. Their moods could change on a drop of a dime. Kim was the Element of Compassion but if you hurt her friends she would totally ballistic. One time she had defeated two fully grown dragons and that was without her element, the gauntlet I was talking about.

“Why?” questioned Blitz.

“If he’s lonely going to stay as back-up then we shouldn’t need to worry about him losing control and if we do need him he would be close by.” she so made sure that she looked at floor the whole and only looking at him after she done. It was strange because she was head of the animal department. There she would be as cheerful as her sister.

“I’m sorry Fluttershy (her codename) but we ca....”

“Dusk Shine is coming with us!!!!” her tone changing from a whisper to a full out yell.

Everyone in the room went stiff. We knew whenever Flutters ever got a backbone bad things would happened. So they did the only thing that could save themselves. They let me go.
