It was another quiet day in Ponyville. It has been a week since the Changeling incident, and Midnight has been working ever since. Pinkie Pie was waiting outside of a door inside of Sugarcube Corner. "Come on Midnight…Mr. and Mrs. Cake said you needed it…" she said through the door.

"I don't see how this is necessary" he replied. "I may be shy and quiet at times but I still have my dignity!"

Mrs. Cake walked to the door and knocked on the wood, "Midnight, are you still in there dear? Come on, we are about to open for the morning rush!"

The door opened, and Midnight walked out. Midnight was wearing a pink apron and a small white baker's hat that was punctured by his spike. "I still don't see why you couldn't have gotten me a white apron" he said while walking out.

"I told you silly, all of the white ones were dirty!" replied Pinkie Pie with a laugh.

"I knew I should have taken Applejack's offer."

"Oh don't worry dear" said Mrs. Cake, "You look fine. And I cannot thank you enough for helping out here."

"It's the least I can do Mrs. Cake. I'm just surprised that you and your husband are this kind considering I…blasted a part of your roof."

Mrs. Cake giggled and was about to speak but then the door opened and rung the bell hanging above it. Mrs. Cake turned, "Hello there and welcome to Sugarcube Corner. How may I help you?"

The colt was red with a black mane. "I would like a dozen cookies, but not all one flavor" he started. "I need five chocolate chip, two oatmeal, three sugar cookies, one peanut butter, and one double chocolate."

The customer said it so fast that Mrs. Cake was having a hard time writing all of the cookies she needed. However, Midnight heard every word. Using his magic, the cookies he needed were levitated safely and cleanly into a small container. Before Mrs. Cake could move, the container was placed onto the counter. "There you are sir" Midnight said as he approached the counter, "Five chocolate chip, two oatmeal, three sugar cookies, one peanut butter, and one double chocolate cookie. Will there be anything else?"

Both Mrs. Cake and the colt stared in surprise. But, the colt recovered, "Er…no…that is all. That is some fast service…"

The colt paid for the cookies and added a few more bits for the fast service. Mrs. Cake smiled at Midnight. Midnight was feeling very good, being praised for his kindness and service instead of being feared by his magic. Customer after customer came in, some asking for simple orders while some asked for more complicated ones. But, nonetheless, Midnight was able to give them what they asked with no time to waste. It became quiet within a few minutes, but then a large commotion sounded outside. A tall, thin light blue Pegasus pony walked in. Her mane and tail were a deeper shade of her coat. The mark on her flank was a blue spiral. Her eyes were a deep sparkling shade of blue and her eyes had blue eyeliner. A small colt walked beside her. But this one was very unique. His coat was green, but on several different locations on his body were different colors. His mane and tail were brown, and his eyes were gray. His cutie mark was a color palette. Midnight approached the main counter to meet this beautiful Pegasus. But, she gasped and took a step back.

"Is there something wrong?" asked Midnight. He was trying to hide his sadness from her reaction.

"Oh, I'm sorry" she said. "I didn't mean to upset you." Apparently he couldn't hide his emotions well. "I'm just glad to meet somepony that doesn't through a big fit everywhere I go. My name is Misty Fog." He small colt hid behind her legs for a while but started to come out. "Oh, and this is my son Easel."

Midnight looked past the counter and saw him. "Well I must admit he is quite…colorful…" He and Misty shared a small laugh. "Now, what can I get for you?"

"Easel, what would you like?" asked Misty.

Easel leaned against the counter, jumping to try and see what sweets the store had. A black energy began to glow around him, slowly lifting him up in the air. Misty was shocked for a second but calmed down when she heard her son laugh. Easel looked around, and then pointed a hoof towards a chocolate cake. Midnight set him down and prepared to package the cake. "Would you like a slice to eat now?" he asked. Easel shook his head wildly yes, making both Midnight and Misty laugh. He set a piece of chocolate cake onto a small plate and levitated it down to Easel. He quickly began to eat it as Midnight securely placed the remainder of the cake on Misty's back.

"How much is the cake?" she asked.

"Well…does twenty bits sound too much?" asked Midnight.

To his surprise, Misty pulled out a large pouch from her wing and set the amount on the counter. "Before I leave I must saw you are probably the most unique colt I have ever met" she continued. "Why may I ask that you are working here?"

"Oh, I need to help pay off the town for something. I only do this for a while until I can find a different job."

"And I never managed to catch your name…"

"Oh sorry" Midnight bowed behind the counter, "My name is Midnight."

Misty's face went from a smile to a quick look of surprise. Midnight caught notice of this, but Misty left with Easel in a hurry. Midnight was confused, but he did not let that get to him. He levitated the plate up and began to wash it.

Misty Fog quickly galloped down a dirt road, the chocolate cake tightly secured Easel hanging on tightly. Misty soon saw her son starting to fall and then started to trot. "You alright back there Easel?" she asked.

"I'm fine mommy" he replied. "Mommy, why did you run?"

"I…we need to see daddy Easel."

Easel stayed quiet and sat still. Misty began to keep trotting down the dirt road. Near the end was a single male unicorn. The unicorn was as colorful as Easel. His coat around his neck and head was red while his body was white. His mane and tail was black. His horn was multicolored as well as the colors along his hooves. His eyes were green and his cutie mark was an exploding firework.

"Color Burst, I need to ask you something" said Misty.

Color Burst turned and slowly approached Misty, "Ah, Misty my dear wife, the ponies in town were not giving you much trouble were they?"

"No, well some were but that's not what I am talking about. Remember that brother you had but haven't seen in a while? What was his name?"

"Oh…I remember him. He was born right before I left my home. He was a very unusual looking pony, but he seemed very sweet. His name was Midnight…" Misty gasped, causing Color Burst to worry. "What is wrong dear?"

"Color Burst…you might want to see for yourself…"

After working a good morning shift, Midnight met with Oracle to go visit some of their friends. They met at the Carousel Boutique, helping Rarity a little.

"So…why do I need to stand still again?" asked Oracle.

"Because darling, I have inspiration for a dress, and your tail feathers would be a perfect for it" replied Rarity. "So Midnight, are you still looking for a job to perform?"

"Sorry Rarity…" he replied, "I don't want to do fashion. The whole Sugarcube Corner job was enough. Some of their orders were so complicated!"

"Yeah, well it's not like you could do MY job!" shouted Rainbow Dash.

"Uh, sugarcube, all you do is rest on that dang cloud all day" said Applejack.

"Hey, keeping the clouds clear is harder than it looks. Not like apple bucking…"

"So Midnight" said Oracle, "Meet and interesting ponies?" asked Oracle, trying to change the subject rather quickly.

"Well, there was this one Pegasus pony…" This received a look from Oracle. "Don't worry; she was a mare, nowhere near my age. But I had to admit, her looks were pretty impressive. I mean, I do not know many ponies that only have one color. Her blue mane, coat, and eyes all seemed to sparkle."

Oracle was still a little upset at Midnight talking about another pony like that, but everyone's thought were stopped when Rarity gasped loudly. "D-D-Did you s-s-say…all blue Pegasus?!" she stuttered. Midnight nodded, nearly making Rarity explode in excitement. "OhmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmyGOSH! I cannot believe SHE is finally here!"

"Calm down there, who is SHE?" asked Applejack.

"Only the most important and famous model that came from Cloudsdale!"

Rainbow Dash gasped and flew right in front of Midnight's face, "Wait a second…you met HER?!"

"Who…Misty Fog?" asked Midnight.

"YOU MET HER?!" they exclaimed with excitement.

Everything was getting too intense. It stopped when there was a knock on the door. Rarity calmed herself and opened the door with her magic. "Welcome to the Carousel Boutique…where everything is…" Rarity stopped because she saw who it was. Misty Fog entered the room, causing Rainbow Dash and Rarity to freak out. Applejack lassoed them so they wouldn't rush her.

"You know Rainbow…I never thought of you as a model liking type" said Midnight.

"Oh, shut it Midnight!" she exclaimed.

"…Midnight…?"

Everypony turned to see Color Burst walk into the room. No pony was sure who he was. Midnight approached him, "Uh…yes…?" Suddenly, the pony ran up and hugged Midnight. "Oh, I can't believe I finally found you!" he shouted. "When I received word from the village, I feared the worse. But you're alive!"

Midnight fought against the unknown stallion's grasp and backed up, "Wait a second, who are you?!"

"Midnight…it's me…Color Burst…your brother!"

Everypony gasped and Midnight stood frozen. His wings dropped, his legs began to shake, and his eyes were wide. "I-I-I…I…I have a-a-a…I have a b-b-bro…I have a brother…" he stammered. Suddenly, his expression changed from shock to anger. His wings unfurled, he pointed his spike at Color Burst, and a black energy began to surround it. "Stay back! I have no brother! Stay away from me!" Everypony was surprised by Midnight's reaction. Color Burst took a step closer, but a black beam of energy blasted in front of him. "NO! I SAID STAY BACK!" Color Burst stopped, but he still talked, "Midnight…we are brothers. What's wrong…? I haven't seen you since you were born…" The energy around Midnight's horn began to glow brighter. "You…you left me…you could have stayed and protected them. You could have given me a better life…you could have given them a better life…you could…just…" Midnight ran out of the building, crashing straight through Color Burst. Oracle and Color Burst were the only two ponies that noticed Midnight was in tears. Oracle ran out, pushing Color Burst out of the way. He followed, as well as Misty. Oracle was accompanied by Color Burst and Misty Fog. They gallop towards Midnight's home, in which Oracle was leading them. They arrived there, and saw that the house seemed empty. Oracle gently and slowly walked up close to the door. Faint sobs were heard coming from the other side. Oracle knocked on the door, "Mid-"

"GO AWAY!"

Oracle was taken back, she has never been yelled at by Midnight before. Color Burst walked up to the door and placed his horn near the lock. Instead of one color, Color Burst's magic was multicolored. The door unlocked and began to slowly open without a single sound. Color Burst's horn still glowed, he was preparing for the worse. "Midnight…"

"I said GO AWAY!" Midnight turned and shot a black beam of energy from his spike. Color Burst formed a multicolored shield around himself that absorbed the attack.

"Midnight, what's wrong with you?!" shouted Color Burst. "You yelled at your girlfriend and almost blasted your only brother! What would mom and dad say?!" Midnight's ears drooped, the magic stopped immediately, and Midnight burst into tears once more. Color Burst lowered his shield and walked straight to Midnight. "What…what's wrong?" he asked once more.

Midnight suddenly tackled his brother and pinned him to the ground. "THEY'RE DEAD!" he shouted. "MOM AND DAD ARE DEAD! WHILE YOU WERE LIVING YOUR LIFE TO YOUR HEART'S DESIRE, MOM AND DAD WERE KILLED! I WAS TORMENTED, ATTACKED, AND CONSTANTLY BULLIED WHEN I WAS ALONE! YOU SEE THESE?!" Midnight pointed to the scars on his right eye. "These scars, these scars were an attempt to kill me. TO KILL ME! And after all the years of torment and misery, I found out that I had a brother, WHICH COULD HAVE PREVENTED ALL OF MY MISERABLE YEARS! So brother, now ask me, WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!"

Through that entire outburst, Midnight was in tears. Oracle was shocked to see such violence occur from Midnight. Misty was just relieved that Color Burst wasn't hurt and that she never brought Easel with her. Color Burst was still trying to comprehend that his parents were dead. "Midnight…I…I had no idea…"

"Yeah, you didn't." Midnight calmed down slightly, tears still in his eyes but he stepped off of Color Burst. Color managed to get up and brush himself off. "So why are you here…brother…?

"Well, I am here for many reasons" he replied. "But none of that is important right now. Midnight…I'm just glad I found you. I received a letter that you left the village, so I had no idea where you were. I tried to search for you, but you did not show up anywhere I looked. If there is anything you want to know, just ask me…"

A moment of silence passed through the home. "I still do not trust you…but…I want to know about…our…parents…"

"Our father was an Earth pony named Hot Wax and our mother was an Alicorn named Sunrise." Midnight paid attention to his mother's species, "That is right Midnight, our mother was an Alicorn; a pony with the features of a unicorn and Pegasus. Anyway, I know what pain you went through. Not the torment part, but the bullying part. As you can see, I'm not exactly the most normal looking pony. But, that's not the reason I left. Our family wasn't doing well, mom and dad were struggling to survive. And when I heard the news of your birth, I knew I had to do something. I stayed just to see you. I must admit, you surprised me. But, you were an even greater reason to leave. I left to get money to help care for you and our parents. I even sent a large amount of money to the village…"

Midnight gasped as a memory struck him. A certain pony in town was throwing a celebration with the rather large amount of money he suddenly received. Midnight felt badly for him since he killed him, but now all of his pity was now lost. However, Midnight felt a hoof on his back. He turned to see Color Burst, now with tears in his eyes. "I'm sorry Midnight; I never knew what pain you would go through. I…I should have stayed behind. Could you…could you ever forgive your failure of a brother…?"

Midnight was astonished. His feelings suddenly changed about this pony, no, his brother. Color Burst was his brother. Midnight hugged his brother in tears. "I'm just glad to see I have some form of family…"

Misty Fog and Oracle entered as well. Color Burst and Midnight separated to join them. "Midnight," said Color Burst, "I believe you have already met my wife Misty Fog."

Midnight was shocked to hear the word "wife." His friends would never stop talking about this. "Oh, and this is Oracle, my…"

"I know Midnight; she's your girlfriend…"

Midnight blushed viciously as well as Oracle. They said nothing as the couple laughed.
