"Ugg," groaned Derpy. "I'm so tired. I just don't know why I was called to court all across Equestria last year. I don't think I did anything wrong. It's like all I have to do is talk, and someone gets a lawsuit out." Derpy had just taken a trip all around equestria to meet with several unhappy suing ponies. "At least I can just relax in my wonderful home in beautiful Cloudsdale for a bit." Derpy flew up to the cloud road her house was on. "What the-" she started to say. Her house was tented, and fumigator pegisi were everywhere! They fluttered about frantically, while Derpy had no idea what was going on.

"Hey, kid," a fumigator with a gas cloud cutie mark said. "What do you think you're doing here? We got a huge swarm of parasprites we're trying to get rid of."

"Parasprites?" Derpy was shocked. "Sir, I know that you are trying to do your job and all, but this is actually my house. So if you excuse me," She tried to walk into her house, but the fumigator stopped her.

"Look, I don't care if this is your house or not."

"Which it is," she added.

"But you can't go in. It's deadly. We sprayed poison everywhere, it would surely kill you." Derpy was furious. She flew as fast as she could out of the fumigator's way and down to Ponyville. "Now where am I going to stay?" She asked herself.

"DERPY! IT'S YOU!" a voice shouted from down the street. Derpy could instantly tell it was Pinkie Pie yelling for her. Derpy flew over to her. "Oh, Derpy! How was your trip? What's court like? Are there cupcakes there?" Hit with too many questions, Derpy just replied, "Oh, hi Pinkie. What's up?"

"Well, Mrs. Cake gave me the rest of the day off, and I didn't have anything else to do, so I went for a walk. Then I saw Applejack walking Winona, and we talked for quite a bit. Then I went back to Sugarcube Corner because I forgot my saddlebag. So I went to grab it, but then I remembered I really didn't need my saddlebag. Then I kept walking until I saw you. Then I yelled your name, you flew over here, and we started talking, as you can see."

"I'm glad you had a good day," muttered Derpy.

"Aww," asked Pinkie. "What happened to happy, bubbly Derpy?"

"She kinda lost her house due to a parasprite infestation."

"That sucks. You know, you could stay with me at Sugarcube Corner for a bit, if you wanted." Derpy's eyes lit up. "Really?" she asked.

"Sure! I'm always here to help out a good friend." Derpy gave Pinkie the biggest hug ever.

"Pinkie," exclaimed Derpy. "You are the best friend ever!"

Chapter 2: Put in a Corner

"Well," Pinkie Pie exclaimed. "Here it is! Your new temporary home!" Pinkie and Derpy walked into Sugarcube Corner, where they were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Cake.

"Hello, Pinkie!" said Mrs. Cake. "I see you've brought a friend with you."

"Hey, Mrs. Cake," said Pinkie. "This is Derpy. She's from Cloudsdale. Her house was infested with parasprites, and I was wondering if she could stay here for a bit. She won't be rude, crude, or disruptive!"

"Ahem," said Derpy.

"Well," said Pinkie. "Not too disruptive, at least."

"Well, Derpy, I think that staying here would be a great idea, you just have to either pay rent or work here for a bit to pay us off, like Pinkie." explained Mr. Cake.

"Oh, well, I don't really have any money right now." said Derpy.

"Oooh! That means you can work here! This will be great! You'll love working at Sugarcube Corner!" exclaimed Pinkie. "It's sooo much super duper fun!" Pinkie was bouncing up and down, smiling like a lunatic.

"I guess...." said Derpy. "I can work here. If it's as much fun as Pinkie makes it out to be, that is. And I won't try to be bothersome, but..... I kinda have.... I dunno, maybe it's a medical condition or something, but I'm just really, ya know, 'derpy'.

"Oh, it's ok Derpy. No judgements here!" said Mrs. Cake.

"Well, actually we do judge on how sweet the food is here. It's a rule that nothing can't be not too sweet." said Pinkie.

"Wait... what?"

"I dunno! C'mon Derpy, I'll show you around!"
