Chapter 11: Talking Time

[A/N]Pinkie told Big Mac everything that happened in the last 10 chapters

"...and now we're here!" Pinkie finished, a large but somewhat sad smile on her face. Big Mac sat still for a little bit as his brain processed all the information that Pinkie had given him, one question in particular rising to the top.

"How do you know what I did when we weren't sharing dreams?" Big Mac asked, his question being extremely justified considering it didn't make any sense that Pinkie would have any knowledge about what he did.

"I read it while it was happening!" Pinkie shouted happily, making Mac give her an extremely confused stare. Pinkie gave him a strange look as though he was a mad pony for asking something like that, but then she remembered that only she was able to break through the fourth wall. They continued to stare at each other for a little bit before they remembered why they were there.

"So..." Big Mac said slowly as he thought about what to say, "What should we do about us?" Pinkie looked towards the wall so she could think about it, but even after a few minutes of solid thinking she wasn't able to come to conclusion, so she just shrugged. The response she got from Big Mac was a tired sigh, because he knew that it was going to end up being all up to him to make a decision on what to do now. Looking at the door Big Mac started to think for himself, and Pinkie used the free time to try and look into his thoughts. Sadly Pinkie realized that his thoughts were staying private for the time being, so she reluctantly sprawled out on the soft bed that the Cakes had.

"Hey Pinkie?" Big Mac asked after a minute.

"Yeah?" Pinkie replied, lifting her head up just enough to look at his face.

"I think we're being watched..." Big Mac said slowly as he looked out the window to see Rainbow Dash holding Applejack up by the waist so she could look in the window. Looking at the door they saw Mr. Cake's snout barely poking through it. If they listened closely they could hear other ponies trying to listen in through the wall from the twin's room. Pinkie froze up and stared at the ceiling while Big Mac silently filled with rage. He was normally a very calm pony, but having his private affairs looked into by so many ponies, especially his sister, was pushing it way too far.

"Will everypony give us some privacy!" Big Mac said angrily, his voice having an odd harshness to it. It was clear that he didn't want anypony to be spying in on him and Pinkie, but it was also pretty clear that they really wanted to spy on them considering all they did was move into the twin's bedroom and get really quiet. Pinkie was surprised to watch Big Mac's expression darken for the first time in, well, ever. In one swift movement Big Mac had picked Pinkie up and was preparing to vault out the window, but she stopped him.

"What if we just take some time for ourselves to figure this out?" Pinkie asked, almost pleading. She knew that if they ran away from the others it would only complicate things, but she also knew that trying to stay there and talk about things would be just as complicated. Big Mac looked out the window angrily while he thought about it, realizing that Pinkie was right, it would be better. At least then they would get some privacy as no pony could read their minds, and the group of spies would be split up as well.

"Ok, we'll split up for now," Big Mac said quietly, "Come see me at the farm when you've really thought about it" Pinkie smiled and gave Big Mac a quick hug before she hopped off towards the door, allowing Big Mac to jump out of the window without her. While Pinkie was busy giving excuses to the ponies that had been spying on them Big Mac was walking away with pride.

"I have always wanted to do that!" Big Mac said as he trotted off towards the farm, making sure to give the bakery one last look before he left town entirely.

Big Mac was silently carving a wooden statue on the porch using his father's old hoof knife when Pinkie came trotting up the path. It had been nearly six hours since he hopped out of the window at the bakery, and both of them had spent the entire time they've been thinking about what they were going to do now. Pinkie was pregnant and they had been married at some point in another time that they were supposed to forget, but now it was coming back to them.

"Been busy?" Pinkie asked as she noticed the large number of carved wooden ponies that were sitting next to Big Mac on the porch. With a quick look there had to have been at least nine or ten completely carvings, with two or three more behind what she could easily see.

"Eeyup," Big Mac replied as he finished off the statue he had been working on when Pinkie had come trotting over. After adding the new one to his collection Big Mac got up and off the porch, making his way towards Pinkie. She followed after him and the two of them trotted in complete silence until they entered the orchard, soon finding themselves in front of the tree that had a heart carved into it.

"Why are we here?" Pinkie asked, tentatively looking at the heart that was carved into the bark of the tree. She was actually kinda scared of it now that her and Big Mac were going to talk about what they were going to be for each other. Either they ended up carving their names into the tree again, or they would scratch out the heart entirely, and the thought of it was scaring Pinkie half to death. Big Mac didn't respond, but instead he stepped up to the tree and began scratching something into it. When he was done Big Mac stepped out of the way, allowing Pinkie to see what he had done.

"Do you want to add your name?" Big Mac asked, nodding his head towards the heart, which now had his name in it, but nothing below it. He offered the hoof knife to Pinkie so she could make the choice herself, and she hesitantly accepted it. During the entire time she was thinking Pinkie wasn't preparing herself for something like this. She was ready for a calm talk about their feelings for each other, not a full on commitment like this, but she knew that it would be a smart thing to do for the  foal...

"Okay..." Pinkie said slowly, her heart quickly kicking into high gear as she took the knife, sliding the holder onto her right hoof. She moved as slowly as possible towards the tree, hoping that she wasn't going to mess up as she scratched in her own name. When she met the resistance of the tree Pinkie's mind began coming up with wild ideas of how things could go wrong. The knife could snap against the tree and fly into Big Mac's neck! Or it could go into the tree and she'll find out it was a prized possession! Oh, there were just so many things that could go wrong right now!

"Pinkie?" Big Mac asked as he shook Pinkie back to reality, "Pinkie!"

"Huh, wha?" Pinkie said, her mind lurching back to what was going on as Big Mac let go, a very worried look on his face, "What happened?"

"You zoned out after you etched your name in, and now, well..." Big Mac trailed off as the two of them looked at the tree, a large zigzag pattern all the way down the side, "It looks like Zorro just attacked the tree in anger. While he was drunk. And really tired"

"Sorry..." Pinkie said quietly, feeling embarrassed about defacing the tree in a insane way. She was pretty sure that even Zorro the masked Stallion wouldn't do something that crazy with a knife, but it did look nice, in a strange way. Big Mac had also seemed to view it the same way after staring at it for a bit.

"Oh well," Big Mac said as he tore his eyes off Pinkie's accidental masterpiece, "What should we do now?" Pinkie looked away towards the tree, just the sight of it making her think deeply. Normally she would suggest getting married, but just seeing the tree made her really debate what they would do next. She knew Mac would go along with pretty much anything she says, which means it only matters what she wants. Thing is though, not even she knew what she wanted. Did she want to have Big Mac as a husband right now, or did she want to wait? Would she like having Big Mac as her special somepony?

"I'm not really sure, to be honest..." Pinkie said slowly as she looked at the ground directly below her. She felt useless, but she couldn't come up with any idea of what they were going to do now. Although, Big Mac wasn't helping with any ideas himself, so their relationship was already off to a rough start. Things were seemingly getting worse until Big Mac remembered the earrings they had.

"What if we got married soon?" Big Mac suggested, making Pinkie's cheeks turn a dark red. Even though Pinkie was an extremely carefree and free spirited pony, getting asked for her hoof in marriage in such a strange way was very unexpected. She knows that they had gotten married in the other universe, but now that it was happening right here, and right now, she was completely caught off guard.

"Would you be okay with something like that?" Pinkie asked shyly, a little nervous about it herself.

"Eeyup," Big Mac said calmly, which was just his normal facade, "But I am a bit nervous about it. I mean, we would be tying the knot, and we'd be together for the rest of out lives..." Mac's words quickly changed the mood from oddly romantic to extremely scary. If they did get married they would be together, no matter what, til death do us part. They would be each other's to the grave.

"Will everypony else be okay with this?" Pinkie asked, feeling a bit more confident now.

"I would think so," Big Mac replied honestly, "It's hard to tell with someponies"

"So, are we engaged now?" Pinkie asked slowly, wondering what happens now. She's only been on the other side of a wedding, never the main attraction at one. Big Mac thought about it and gave her a nod to her before trotting off towards the end of the orchard.

"Where are you going?" Pinkie asked, trotting after her new fiance a she thought about where he might end up going. There were plenty of places he could go, but which of them would Big Mac pick first? He could be going to see family, but he might also just be going to sit alone for a bit as he lets it all sink in. That suddenly gave Pinkie an idea. She still had to let her own family, and the Cakes, know that she was going to be getting married. They would be so exited by the news she couldn't wait to tell them!

"I was actually going to tell Gra-" Mac had started to say before Pinkie jumped forwards, kissing him on the lips suddenly before she ran off, leaving him alone in his confusion, "What was that for?" As he slowly got up and recovered Pinkie was running down the road to Ponyville, her mind already coming up with wedding ideas. Now that it was a fact, and she'd accepted it, Pinkie couldn't wait for her wedding day to come around!
