Colgate's Nation
Chapter 7: The begining of the end
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAt first, no one thought the war would go anywhere. The country was split in two with a cement wall with a 8-wall lead gate. And so became Forgetful Grove and Minty Flats. Guards from each side kept the other out. You had to have filled out 23 pages of paperwork for a 12 hour draft to the other side. Phone service was choppy and monitored by the authorities. That was until Lyra found a power beyond belief. Celestia was laying on the table of Minty Flats Palace. The night after the war the forgetfuls brunt down Colgate's house in fury, and in despair and memory, Lyra ordered a castle erected there in it's honor to their cause. Lyra walked in and starred at the bound princess. " Only remove these bits of her head bindings." she said, pointing to a pattern in the linen. The guards tore them off, and underneath lay the princess's tiara in all its magnificence. " Ahhh..." Lyra said pawing it around and feeling its edges, its sheen, its faceted gem implanted in the gold. Slowly, hesitantly, Lyra place it on her head. She floated in the air, her eyes pure white aura, her mouth hanging open. Then, in a burning flash, her limbs stretched, her mane grew and rippled, wings sprouted out of her back, and she screamed in pain as another brighter flash appeared. Lyra stood panting in the center of the room, sweating. She got up, clumsily wobbled towards the full-body mirror in the hall. She put a hoof to her moth as her pupils got tiny and she screamed. She was exactly like the princess, and then... wasn't. she was herself, but not really. Smiling smugly, she flapped herself into the air and raised her arms as she raised the sun high above the palace, a glowing ball or magnificent heat. " Now, See how the Forgetfuls like when they freeze without their precious sun! " She laughed and laughed until her sides ached. Then she noticed Celestia. Her mane was now motionless and the solid pink it once was in her youth before her coronation. Her wings had vanished, leaving her in a state of relief as the agony of the split bone was gone. " Fool!" she whispered "The sun is not to be used like a lure or a toy. You can put the universe out of line in one instant!" She moaned. Lyra payed no attention to her. " Take her away. She has no power against me. And take off her gags if you wish. She can only manage lifting carrot. " Lyra gestured towards the door. Celestia screamed as she was dragged away, looking at Lyra's reflection in the mirror. She knew why Lyra was different from the princess's previous self: She had those feline eyes. Those green, jealous eyes of someone so jealous and angry they warp to insanity. She had known one once. Nightmare Moon.
