Prologue

Prologue

I’d always hated living with my foster parents. They were, by loosest definition, cruel. They beat me for absolutely no reason and destroyed what was mine. I couldn’t take it anymore, I ran away from home (as though it was ever even partially MY home to begin with).

I packed what I had, which wasn’t much, just some clothes and my most valuable possession, a necklace, my moms. It looked like a bunch of rainbow threads clasped at the end with a steel clip, at the end of it hung a small golden cross with a blood-red ruby in the center. I knew my own story, my dad left before I was born, my mom supported me. My mom died in a fire at the store she worked in, a cooking store, there was a gas leak and she was sharing a shift with a smoker. The entire store caught fire so fast, it was all the fire department could do to stop the nearby houses from caching.

A loud snore broke through my thoughts. I silently opened the door to my room, if you could call it that, they shoved me and my things in the attic, which was already crowded with all sorts of dusty boxes. They didn’t want any part of me in their lives. Before I walked out the back door, I thought for a moment and took a knife with me, I KNEW they would come looking for this, it was an ornate knife with a 6 inch blade, it had a beautiful sheen and this feeling of importance to it.

I walked out the back door with one thought in my head ‘bye, bye pigs’ that wasn’t their actual name, but it might as well be, they were sloppy, rude, loud, and disgusting. They also didn’t exactly smell like roses, their actual names were Hilda and Bert Slog “!!!” they both had beady eyes, with lanky grayish hair that looked like a very small possum, dipped in oil and placed smack0dab on his head. They did nothing but sit on their fat asses all day (seriously, Hilda alone weighed like 500 pounds) I left, out into the cold (it was wintertime, I hated them THAT MUCH) with no idea where I was going.

Chapter 1 – the steel moon

My name is Jacob Circe, I have striking blue eyes in contrast to my long black hair, I was about 5 feet tall, 200 lbs, and I forgot a map. I was wandering in the forest that my FOSTER parents lived by, for about a half an hour, before I realized I was lost, I had never been in this part of the forest before and it was creepy. All the trees seemed to have faces, staring at me.

I always saw movement at the edges of my vision, but the moment I turn it stops. For a minute I felt woozy, I don’t know why, but I almost collapsed. I saw an amazing sight the moment I came into a clearing, where the moonlight shone, unfiltered by trees. I looked up at the moon and said aloud “what the…” I never got a chance to finish that sentence, the moon that I looked up at was completely steel-colored and reflective. The moment I looked up, pain lanced through my right leg.

My knee began to buckle, but I was able to remain standing long enough to see, what looked like a pile of twigs arranged to look like a wolf biting my leg. For a moment I was really confused, then the pile of twigs growled and looked up with glowing yellow eyes I did the only natural thing… I punched it. (I know some of you might not consider that ‘natural’ but what would you do huh?) The wolf-thing looked surprised, which gave me the moment I needed to yank its head off my leg, and bolt.

I ran as fast as my legs could take me. I found some strange ruins and hid in them. I heard the wolf-thing howling but, fortunately, it didn’t find me. I took am moment to look around the ruins and at the bite. It wasn’t as deep as it looked and I was able to bandage it rather well with the only present the pigs had ever gotten me, a grey shirt that was falling apart, they found it at a garage sale and made me buy it.

It was easy and fun to rip into strips and soak in blood. The ruins were grey and cold, and had a feel of darkness to them (yes, fore those of you who hadn’t guessed it’s the ruins where Nightmare Moon fought the mane 6). I began to drift off. In my dream, I saw a giant black horse, wait, not a horse, it had a horn growing out of it’s head… a unicorn… no wait, there are also wings on it’s back, a Pegasus… what was the term for both a Pegasus and a unicorn…an alicorn, it was a giant black alicorn, it wore blue-black armor that covered most of it’s upper body.

The scariest thing about it was it’s eyes, it had green eyes with slits for irises, like a snake (for those of you who haven’t guessed, yes this is Nightmare Moon) the giant walked up to me and in a rather loud feminine voice said “a human?” it chuckled “how quaint, it’s been a while since I last saw a human.” I then realized that I left my jaw on the floor and quickly picked it back up, staring at it I thought ‘am I going crazy or something’ it continued chuckling for a moment before it said “so you saw it, did you?”

I looked at her, I had decided it was a her, and said “s…saw what” (if you think it’s nerdy or weak to be stuttering like that, you try facing a 50 – foot tall Nightmare Moon) “MY moon of course” she said it as though it was a known fact to everyone “y…you mean the steel moon?” “Yes, finally somepony who get’s it without me having to explain it thoroughly” “umm, excuse me, did you say ‘somepony’?” “Yes” “umm don’t you mean somebody?” “Of course not, you left the human world a while ago” “t…the human world?” “YES, welcome to Equestria” I stared at her for a while with my mouth hanging open

chapter 2 - first encounter

Chapter 2 - first encounter

I woke up in a cold sweat “it was just a dream” I mumbled to myself over and over. After a while I got up and began to walk through the forest again, specifically away from the ruins. It was about midday, by the position of the sun and I luckily didn’t run into any things like the wolf-things. After a while that felt like eternity to me I heard some city noises and I found the edge of the forest.

My jaw dropped again when I saw the city. There were horses of every color walking around and talking. I rubbed my eyes and opened them again “yep. I’m not dreaming”. The strange thing was that I could understand what they were saying. Multicolored horses that can speak English I thought am I still dreaming? Then I heard from behind me an incredibly loud “CUTIE MARK CRUSADERS AWAY!” I jumped about a foot.

I landed and hid behind a tree as three very small horses, wait there too big to be horses, maybe young ponies? I thought. Then one of them, a yellow one with a red mane and a pink bow in it, stopped and looked in my direction. Uh oh I thought as it started walking this way. I tried to climb the tree. Somewhat successfully, my lower half was still visible below the leaves. “Umm, hello?” it said I determined it was a female voice as it looked around.

Then one of the twigs I was using as a handhold broke and fell, she looked up, saw me and gasped, then the stick hit her on the head and she was knocked unconscious. I climbed down and first checked her breathing. She was alive, just unconscious; however she would wake up with a nasty bump on her head. I dragged her back to the path she was on before and placed the branch to look like it just fell out of a different tree. The other two came back to look for her “APPLEBLOOM?” they both shouted, so I figured that the yellow and red one was called Applebloom.

I determined that both the others were female. Then they found her lying in the path “applebloom?” a little orange one that has …wings, a Pegasus…, asked about then Applebloom came to “y…yeah” Applebloom responded groggily “what happened” “we don’t know” a little white one with a beautiful voice answered before I realized it had a horn coming out of it’s forehead, a unicorn. A pony, a Pegasus, and a unicorn, all brightly colored, all speaking in English were having a conversation about something called cutie marks “how about we try bungee jumping next?” the Pegasus asked “Scootaloo, we already tried that last week.” The little white one answered the Pegasus who was apparently called Scootaloo.

“I know!” Applebloom yelled while jumping around “water skiing” “YEAH!” the other two called in harmony and they all ran off. Applebloom hesitated for a moment and looked back at the tree that I had climbed, she scratched her mane and ran off, trying to remember what had happened. Then she gasped and ran away fuck, she remembered, I was hoping to go undetected for a few more days I thought well, I’d better run I climbed down again, and I hid in a nearby tree, I could just barely see the base of he tree I was just in. a few minutes later I heard a strange noise, like a zapping sound combined with a kind of poof.

I saw a purple unicorn walk into the forest and look up at the tree, I noticed it had a tattoo of a star on it’s flank at least I think it’s called a flank I thought she looked up at the tree and called “hello, is anypony up there?” I remained silent she circled the tree for a moment. Then her horn began to glow, I almost fell out of my tree, the branch that I had moved levitated over to her and moved up to reattach to the tree “somepony was here, but not anymore apparently” she began to walk off, a leaf chose that exact moment to fall across my nose “ACHOO” she jumped and looked around surprised.

I remained as silent as I could, still not wanting to be found she looked in all directions and stopped while looking in my direction. “Umm, hello, I know your there” she was looking in my general direction. She began walking in my direction. I tried to move higher up the tree quietly, when I found I was completely stuck. Great I thought I’m stuck  she was looking up every tree and getting closer to me fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck I thought, still unable to move. Then she looked up the tree I was in and jumped back about three feet, her mouth hanging open.

“Umm, hi” I said, that was the wrong thing to do, she just stared at me with her mouth hanging open. “Umm, I’m kinda stuck” she blinked for a moment and closed her mouth “what are you?” she asked I sighed, seeing no other choice “I’m a human”  “how do you know equestrian?” I was somewhat taken aback at this “I’m speaking English” “why are you here?” she sounded like she was reading off a list “I don’t know,” I answered “can you please get me down” “where do you come from? And I’ll get you down after this question” I sighed “California, now get me down” I felt something tugging the back of my shirt and pulling me out of the tangle of branches I was stuck in. she looked like she was straining as she pulled me out with some kind of telekinesis.

A few moments later she accidentally dropped me on my head “ow” “umm, sorry” she said. Then she looked at the round near my head “what’s that?” I noticed my mother’s cross had fallen out of my shirt, “it’s my mother’s cross, my only memory of her” for some reason I thought back to what she said to me everyday before she died “if I die and you need a home, wander through the forest at night, if you are accepted, you will find a friend” I snapped back to reality when she asked a question to me “what, sorry, I was lost in memory” she sighed for a moment and repeated “what’s your name” “Jacob, Jacob Circe” “why did you come here” “I already said, I don’t know” she facehoofed “I can tell that your lying” dammit I sighed “I ran away from home” my answer apparently surprised her “why would you run away from home?” she was apparently baffled as to why I would do such a thing.

“Because it wasn’t really my home anymore, my parents died and my foster parents were evil to me” “why were they evil to you?” I thought about that one for a moment “because I was different” I thought back to when they first took me in “what’s this boy?!”  Hilda’s horrible, gritty voice made me wince, “what’s this thing on your forehead boy?!” “I don’t know” I replied in a small voice “go to your room until you’re ready to tell me” “yes Hilda” and I went up to my room.

I NEVER took my shirt off in front of them, if they were that annoyed by a bump on my head they’d murder me about the ones on my back “HELLO” her voice brought me back to the present “sorry what?” she facehoofed again “how were you different?” I hesitated for a moment “I can’t tell you” I was saved from her reply by a really loud “UH OH!” right behind me and a noise of something falling VERY QUICKLY, getting closer very fast. I turned around and saw a cyan streak with a rainbow coming off of it coming straight toward us.

chapter 3 - Ponyville

My eyes grew huge, I grabbed the surprisingly light purple unicorn that gave an indignant “hey!” and dove out of the way, landing on my back with a unicorn on top of me. The cyan streak crash landed exactly where we were standing moments ago, leaving a large crater. A stumbling, but unharmed cyan Pegasus got out of the crater and said “whoa, that trick didn’t work” her voice was slightly masculine, but obviously belonging to a female “is everypony okay?” she asked in the direction I dived I groaned, but the purple pony got off of me and walked over to the cyan one with an annoyed look on her face  “Rainbow Dash” I got up, I wasn’t hurt, just sore, my backpack took most of the slide Rainbow Dash looked at me in amazement “umm, Twi, what is that?” I raised a hand and said “hi” she jumped higher than I thought possible, I had to get back into the clearing we were originally standing in to see her again, just in time to see her dive bomb me.

  “AAAAAAH!!!” I yelled and VERY quickly ducked out of the way “hey Twi, what is this thing?” “Ow, ow, ow, ow” I said as she jumped up and down on my head. Then she bounced really high I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact. After a few moments I looked up to see rainbow floating in midair while glowing in a kind of purple aura.

“Hey Twi, put me down!” Rainbow yelled indignantly “wait, I think we should talk things over with it.” “umm, I’m not an it, I’m a him. My name is Jacob Circe” “we should take it to meet princess Celestia, she would be interested to know about him” “fine” Rainbow grumbled Twi looked at me and said “”sorry, I haven’t introduced myself, I’m Twilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia’s number one student” “yeah, yeah and I’m Rainbow Dash, fastest thing in the sky!” “so, how are we going to meet this Princess Celestia?” “like this” and Twilight’s horn started glowing “umm….” I never got to finish as I suddenly felt like I was being moved very quickly.

For a moment I saw some of the town, specifically 4 ponies, an orange pony with three apples on her flank, kicking a tree, a pink pony with three balloons on her flank, bouncing around, a yellow Pegasus pony with three butterflies on her flank,leading some baby ducks, and a white unicorn with three diamonds on her flank, sewing a dress. I  felt very dizzy and landed in an extremely large garden. It surrounded a beautiful palace made out of gold. Unfortunately I couldn’t see this as I was to dizzy to see anything.

After a moment, everything stopped spinning and I followed Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash through an enormous entrance hall into an enormous throne room where a white alicorn with an image of the sun on her flank stood. For some reason she looked somewhat familiar I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

Her mane and tail were all colors of the rainbow and blowing to an invisible breeze. I saw as I got closer how large she was holy shit she’s bigger than me! I thought as I kneeled, it seemed like the right thing to do “what are you?” she asked, obviously directed at me “I’m a human, my name is Jacob Circe” “D…did you say Circe?” I was surprised to hear her stutter like that, apparently Twilight and Rainbow were too. They grew tense as I said “yes” I tensed too, this can’t be good.

she sighed “so that’s why” I was somewhat taken aback “why what” “my brother, I don’t talk about him much he was a white alicorn, but he was somewhat annoyed he could never become king. Instead of accepting the pampering that he was given, he left, and lived in the Everfree forest, when Luna became Nightmare Moon, I went into the Everfree forest to find him, but I couldn’t his name was Honor Circe” I looked at her with wide eyes as she continued the story “he reappeared soon after Nightmare Moon was defeated, carrying a young human, that human was dying, and he said it had only just been born.

I felt pity for it, I gave it a lock of my hair, sealed with a clasp and a golden cross, with his birthstone embedded in it” I looked at her with absolutely enormous eyes “th…this?” and I pulled out my mother’s necklace she looked at it in shock “y…yes, that is the necklace I gave the young human” “I think that young human was me” “n…no, impossible, he took that young human back to the world called Earth” “that’s where I come from” she looked at me for a moment.

“very well then Jacob Circe, I wish to know how you would behave around ponies, Twilight” “yes princess” “take a note, the human will remain in equestria until we find out how to return him to Earth…” “excuse me,” everyone looked at me shocked “I, honestly don’t want to go back to earth” Celestia looked like she had no idea what to do, she sighed “very well then, Twilight, you will provide food and shelter for him, as well as study his behavior, for the time being.” Twilight looked somewhat annoyed “yes Princess” then I felt i feeling of going very quickly again.

When we stopped I was somewhat less disoriented than last time. I was in a library, that looked like it was carved out of wood. Our sudden appearance startled a purple lizard thing that looked around surprised. His eyes locked on me and he said “what are you?” “umm… hi, I’m a human” “Spike, this is Jacob Circe, he’ll be staying with us for the time being” “Jacob, this is spike,” “Her number one assistant” “he’s a baby dragon” with all that I went through today I just said “okay”.

Chapter 4 – a new surprise ;)

“I see you met my sister” “who’s there!” I was suddenly facing the 50-foot black alicorn I jumped at the sudden appearance “GAH! Don’t surprise me like that!” she chuckled for a moment then her expression became humorless as she glared down upon me “you remind me of someone, I can’t remember who,” she seemed lost in memories for a moment “no matter, you are still here human, I expect you to be gone from ponyville in the next 24 hours” she said ‘human’ like it was a curse “hmmm…” I seemed to be thinking something over “…no” she looked at me dumbfounded “what about your parents,” before she could say anything else I cut her off “they’re dead”.

She blinked for a moment “pets?” “none” “relatives?” “Either dead or insane” she was silent for a few moments “friends?” “Never had any” “wow…so you have nothing on earth” “nope, I have a new life here. Even though all that’s happened is I got stuck in a tree, dive bombed, and really dizzy, it’s better than the life I had on earth” “you still must leave” “no” she looked like she was getting angry “you WILL leave” “NO” she was really pissed off “then I shall ruin your life here” then she disappeared in a puff of black smoke and I woke up

“What day is it today?” Twilight heard from the bathroom, she looked at the calendar “umm, January 1st” she heard several loud curses coming from the bathroom “umm, are you alright?” “Yes, don’t come in!” “How long are you going to be in there?” “Umm, all month” Twilight facehoofed “I don’t thinks so, I’m coming in” “NONONODON’TCOMEIN!!!!!!!!!!” Twilight jumped away from the door “umm, okay, can you tell me what’s happening?” “No” “why not?” “It’s… personal” “umm, okay… if you need me I’ll be in the library” and she left.

A few minutes later, she heard the sound of a door opening upstairs, then another door, then a window, she was beginning to get nervous, then she heard the sound of feathers. She jumped out of the chair (I really have no idea what the ponies would sit on, so I’m using chair) and began to walk upstairs “hello? Jacob?” there was no reply, she looked in her study and gasped, the window was open, and a single white feather was left on the ground.

Twilight looked everywhere she ran around town, yelling “JACOB?!” she went to see Fluttershy (I must be the first, daaaaaaaw) after a while of searching left her fruitless. Twilight knocked gently on the door “hello?” she heard a gentle female voice call “hello, Fluttershy, can you please help me, I’m looking for somepony” Fluttershy opened the door slowly “who?” “a new pony to town, his name is Jacob, and he is staying with me for a while” “o…okay, I’ll try” and fluttershy walked out of the cabin and followed Twilight to Applejacks farm.

(I apologize in advance for the mutilated accent, I have no idea how to do it, so she’s not going to be talking much, I mean no insult to the Apple family or any of their fans.), where she was greeted by Big Mac “hey, Big Mac, have you seen Applejack around?” “eeyup, she’s applebuckin’ them fields over thar” “thank you!” Twilight yelled as the ran into the fields after a while she was able to find Applejack “well howdy do Twi” “hi applejack, can you please help me and fluttershy find somepony?” “i…if it’s alright with you that is” “well, sure Twi, anythin’ for a friend.” The three then ran off to find the others.

Twilight, Applejack, and Fluttershy all opened the door to sugarcube corner to find Pinkie literally bouncing off the walls, with the Cakes in the middle trying to control her  “Pinkie, Pinkie please settle down” Mrs.Cake noticed the three walk in. “oh, hello dears”(still, no idea how they speak) “can you please calm Pinky down, for some reason she ate an entire bag of sugar” Twilight and Applejack facehoofed twilight levitated a cupcake over to her and yelled “Pinkie, cupcake!” she was suddenly right in front of Twilight and the cupcake was gone “ohhitwilight,what’sup!” Twilight stood there for a moment, decoding her sentence “hi Pinkie, could you please help us find a new pony in town, he’s staying with me for a few days and I really need to find him” “hmm, I’mREALLYbusyhere,butsure!” and she bounced out the door.

Twilight used the walking on clouds spell and teleported to Rainbow Dash’s cloud home. Twilight knocked on the door and said “Rainbow, you home?” “yeah, come on in” “hi Rainbow, we need your help finding the pony we met yesterday” “sure, I got nothin’ else to do” and she flies out her door, followed by the others.

Twilight teleported all 5 of them to Rarity’s Boutique she was inside mumbling about fashion and designing a new dress “hello, rarity, could you help us find a new pony to town, he’s staying with me for now and he ran away” Rarity looked at Twilight and said “Darling, whatever else could I do” and she followed the other 5.

They all began walking in the direction of the Everfree forest. “he was first found in the Everfree forest, and it’s the only place he would know to go” Twilight said in response to Rarity’s question of “why are we going in there?” they all split up looking for him. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy flew around looking down to try and find him, Applejack and Pinkie looked on the ground. Rarity and Twilight were teleporting and using tracking spells.

However, nopony was having any luck whatsoever finding him “uhgh” twilight moaned “why aren’t our tracking spells working?” “They work better with something of his darling” Twilight thought for a moment and said “well, I do have this.” And she took out the pristine white feather “it might be his” “well, why don’t yall try” “alright” the feather began to glow in a purple aura.

The feather began spinning like a compass needle until it pointed in one direction and began whizzing through the forest, magically dodging all trees and plants until it came to a river, it stopped in the middle of the river for a moment until all 6 caught up, then it began flying upriver. The feather rose up[ and floated above a beautiful white alicorn, with a cutie mark in the shape of a golden cross with a blood-red ruby embedded in the center. He was bathing in the river, then he heard the sound of a twig snapping in the direction of the 6 girls. He turned his head and looked at them “fuck”.

He began to fly away, very quickly. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy began to chase him. He easily outran Fluttershy, but he was just barely keeping ahead of Rainbow Dash “get back here!” she yelled “no” Rainbow Dash almost forgot to flap her wings, it was the voice of the human that she had dive bombed “whoah, whoah, whoah, you’re an alicorn?!” before she realized that he was getting away “HEY!!” she chased after him, even faster. He began to dive and a mach cone formed around him “he couldn’t!” she yelled outraged. But before he could perform a sonic rainboom, he was suddenly lassoed from the ground “gotcha, ya slippery varmint!” “FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU” the alicorn yelled as he slammed into a river *SPLASH*.
