Chapter 1: Securing Ponyville

Death Only Comes Twice

“Time and time again, the pinnacle of Ponies starts from the end, only will we be able to grow from the middle of hardships.” –Excerpt of Princess Luna’s Speech, 14 Hours after Manehattans Complete Decimation

Chapter 1: Claiming Ponyville

The dark tunnel seemed to stretch on endlessly, the walls alive moaning with the voices of the infected ponies. Shots fired and briefly lit the tunnel for a tick. Bodies dropped, with chunks of flesh with cold blood splattering across the tunnel walls and floors of the subway tunnel. Yet, the infected drudged on without care. Their eyes empty and dark, just as their souls were if there was one even left. The only thought on their mind was their next meal.

More came, as if growing from the walls, drawing nearer to the unicorns with firearms. The gunshots nearly making the Unicorn Assault Squad deaf from their own automatic weapons. Each shot showing a more terrified expression as they held the infected off.

“Doc, what do we do?! They’re not letting up!” The medic yelled before getting one of his limbs ripped open by the jaws of a straggler he didn’t finish off on the floor. “Oh princesses!” He screamed before one of the other unicorns shot him in the head apologetically.

Dr. Leon Sisk grimaced as he looked at the underground plans, stomping a hoof on them. “Bucking hell. Were blowing the tunnels sealed!” Dr. Leon Sisk sighed deeply before flipping the switch to arm the explosives set up before they were ambushed with the infected. “The tunnels have been overrun for now.”

“Let’s go!” Leon yelled and turned flank and galloped to the stairs leading to the surface, sunlight pouring in from above, and trails of smoke appearing in the sky. The others followed promptly after putting down a couple more of the infected. They went up the stairs while firing blindly behind them, some of the infected fell down the stairs, effectively knocking down other. Ponyville needed to be secured, at all costs.

“What’s the status on the subway Doctor? Over.” Little Miss Twilight Sparkle voice chimed in through the radio. They had reached the surface, but without sparing time they began magically sealing the doors shut. Using magic, they melted the door together.

“Sterilize the tunnel Twilight.” Leon emotionlessly said while still having the reply button pressed magically. “We need to get rid of the Infected and seal off the tunnels form down there. There’s no other alternative. Burn them aliv- I mean... Just do it. Over.”

“It’s okay, I understand. The explosion will be coming in 1… 2… SPIKE, COVER YOUR-“ Her voice was overpowered by the explosions underground, shaking the earth. Smoke littered the air along with dust, but the dust soon settled. The smoke most likely coming from other towns not far from them, most likely gone in flames. Unicorns and earth ponies were building a gate around the town, though it would be hard labor, the safety it would provide was invaluable. Some were also attaching a AK 47.

Smoke was also coming from Ponyville, but only from the job of burning bodies. Bodies of infected dealt with from the attack on Ponyville, Leon and his squad came to Ponyville to save the town, and aid. Under orders of Princess Luna of course. He was also begged by with tears by Fluttershy. She was assisting with medical problems up in Cloudsdale. She was a veterinarian, but also had knowledge in the medical field with ponies. But he still would have come either way, he enjoyed the town better than Canterlot, bunch of snobs filled that town honestly.

“Dear Princ- I mean, Princess Luna. We have secured Ponyville, reaching the town just in time thankfully before the town was overrun. Not many were lost, but there was no fairytale here. We secured the subway entrance… Sort of.”

The Princess took a couple seconds before replying, a sigh of relief could be heard over the radio, “That’s great news doctor. More supplies are being sent over by Pegasi on carts in a couple of hours. Again, thank you for securing the town as you have. Very valuable ponies are in that town. 6 to be exact, you probably already know them.” Indeed he had, he knew them from before the infection of course, and living in Ponyville was rather social.

“Yes, of course. There are more things to do, I’m sorry. Doctor out.” Leon said as turning off the connection. He then began to walk toward Sugarcube Corner for a meal.

Sugarcube Corner was fitted to be the place for dining. But was also the storage center for supplies for the town. What is left of the town of course, some buildings were lost during the fight with the several infected attempting to overrun the town from the south. Some ponies also went to Cloudsdale. The only actual only safe place against the infected, they could not walk on clouds, even if previously magically enabled to. They are magically void, and magic can’t be used against them.

Mini-Chapter 1: General Static Over The Air Of The Past

Mini-Chapter 1: General Static Over The Air Of The Past

The radio crackled with weak signal as it sprang to life on the Generals jacket “Your team had their chance General HSSsss, the infection has reached critical levels. You can’t stop it and you know it.” The general grit his teeth at the voice he did not recognize. Another pain in his side, other than the stench of the undead and the smoke bathing the entire town, effectively blocking the light of the moon. The only light illuminating the town was the fires started in the bloodbath.

“Who the buck is this? This is a secure line.” The general firmly stood his ground as he let off a shot into the dark alley way, neutralizing another of the infected that littered the streets. Countless and endless walking ponies and fillies, or what was left of them…

“Just a concerned pony of course, nothing more. Look General, you’ve done all you could and it wasn’t enough. Goodbye General.” The sound of jets incoming to the town overpowered the static that overcame the radio, sending a horrified look on the face of the General.

“Faust help us all.” The words slipped out of his mouth into the warm bitter air, losing themselves over the cries of the ponies being slaughtered. The bombing began, crumbling the town to pieces, fire added onto fire, as the dirt blew off the land and into the air. Manehattan was being blown to hell, and the survivors left in it.

Chapter 2: Rotten To The Core

Death Only Comes Twice

“There is no message from Coltssia at this time, we can only assume that they were lost to the current epidemic. This, is saddening news of-“ A whisper in the princess ear made her face slack in disappointment. “Coltssia has gone nuclear.” –Press Conference, 1 Hour after Ponyville’s Rescue.

Chapter 2: Rotten To the Core

The sun had finally set on Ponyville for the day as Leon started at the sky. Weary faces stretched on everypony and a sigh of relief as well. The town had survived the day, their town had survived through the onslaught. The smoke had finally died down from dealing with the burning corpses, another task done, as had the wall. Of course, work was still needed on it, but the wall itself would hold for the night.

“Alright, everypony, let’s all head off to bed.” Said a pony covered in shadows from a cloud which then crackled, hinting that rain was coming soon. The Pegasi were letting the rainclouds out, it was scheduled this week after all. On Tuesday, which was today. Everyone still had jobs to do, and the Cloud Factory still was operational and staffed under orders of Princess Luna. The Princess was trying her best to keep equestrian still functioning even though the current events which spread throughout Equestria.

The doctor stopped in his tracks as he overheard chatter from two colts that were working no the fence earlier.

“.. I’m telling you, the zompie attack seemed a bit thick from what I have overheard from chatter on the radio from EQ News.” He seemed to look around to see if anypony was listening, Leon of course hiding behind the side of a building to avoid his gaze.

“Do you think another town didn’t make it nearby?” The voice had a slight regret in saying the words. The words would probably plague the colts mind at night while resting.

The second pony sighed deeply before replying, “Look, I don’t know. Anyway, we were told to call them Infected, don’t really know why though. But I guess it’s to keep people from getting scared.”

The first pony stared at the second pony with slight agitation in his voice “Yeah, well, you try keeping calm when you see other ponies ripped apart.”

Those words had made the air go thick, too thick for his taste, Leon took his leave from the area and continued toward SugarCube Corner, fixing his collar on his lab coat on the way. He was surprised that the attack wasn’t that bad.. Comparing to other towns attacked of course. After all, some of his men in his squad were sent to Apple Acres to keep it safe.  From the radio transmission from Apple Jack, the farm was still not attacked, but the sights of burning towns was completely visible from the farm.

A young, but adult colt brushed by him, knocking into him slightly but then blubbering out a apology. “Excuse me, sorry.” The colt said and trotted away while levitating a notepad and pen while writing on it.

“Great, a reporter, just what we needed.” He scoffed while proceeding to open the door to SugarCube Corner, just to see swords quickly pointed to his face.

“HOLD IT RIGHT THERE ZOMBIE SCUM. Didn’t you see the sign, we don’t want any of your kind!” Pinkie yelled at the top of her lungs, huffing and puffing. Of course, this attracted the eyes of everypony inside the restaurant.

“Pinkie, it’s me Leon, I’m not a Infected, put the swords down. Your causing too much of a ruckus, it’s late.” He spoke while giving her a disappointed look on his face. But it was nice to see her again.

“Oh? Prove it!” She said with a smile on her face, obviously calming down understanding that the noise was a bit loud.

“As you wish Chancellor Pinkie, all you need to do is take a cup of-“ He began to sing teasingly

“Yeah yeah, you pass, get your rump in here and get yourself a plate, since soups on Doctor Pants.” She lowered the swords and slid them back into their place on her sides. Of course laughter erupted from everypony in the building, after all it was funny to see her do that. Once she got a grown pony to piss himself in fear trying to explain himself. Leon had to admit, it was a riot. Pinkie then jumped over the counter and began writing things he couldn’t see, a certain individual caught his attention instead.

She lowered the swords and slid them back into her sides. Laughter erupted from nearly everyone inside; she loved doing that after all, once we got a grown pony piss himself of fear trying to explain himself. I’ll admit. It was a riot. She jumped over the counter and started writing down things I couldn’t see, a certain other individual caught my attention instead.

A colt named Rotten Core laid his sandwich down on the table that Leon was sitting waiting. “She got you good eh Doc?” Leon merely sneered, “I see your still alive and kicked, guess rotting corpses don’t eat other rotten things.”

Rotten Core stared at Leon and without hesitation spoke. “Look Leon, enough of this back and forth insults bullshit. Damn cripple.” Leon’s blood boiled as his wings inside his coat twitched. He was classified as a unicorn, but he also had wings. They were useless, he was born with them, but couldn’t do anything with them either. They were like extra limbs hanging out of his coat.

“Look, I’m grateful that you came and saved the town, even without orders I know you would have come.” Rotten Core avoided Leon’s eyes while speaking and looked to the side of the building.

“I saw you guys through the window a little bit ago after you came out of the subway, squawking on your radio to who knows who. Also, why haven’t you gone to see Nurse Redheart? After all there are some injured ponies who could use your help.”

Leon stared at him and fished a smile out of himself, a bowl of soup and a sandwich placed on the table for him. “I’m not on the clock.”

Leon glanced a look at Pinkie as she placed a sandwich down on a filly’s plate and give him a big smile. Seeing a filly at days like these, always brings a smile to his face. After all, these were troubled times. “Hey Chancellor Pudding Head, give him some pudding, take it out of my account.”

He returned to his soup, and began to feast. About halfway through the soup, a radio transmission came in through his radio. The sound filled up the place of course with interest.

“Hey flightless, come in. It’s Rainbow.” The words came out of the radio, “Me and Big Mac made it to Appleoosa. Their alive.” The room fell silent.
