Mother and Daughter
Chapter 1: A Mothers Love
Dinky turned round tears rolling down her cheek.
"Aw. Are you gonna go cry to your mom? Or should I call her 'Derpy'" Taunted one of Dinky's classmates. Dinky ran off sobbing leaving a trail of glistening tears behind her. Why couldn't they leave her alone? Just because her mother was different. She was tired of it. Always picking on her. She slammed open the front door and stormed upstairs crying. Ditzy called up the stairs, concerned.
"Dinky?" No answer. She sighed and went to sit in the living room. Was her daughter embarrased by how she looked? She couldn't believe Dinky would be embarrased. Just because her mother was different.
Ditzy slowly walked up the stairs. She needed to talk to her daughter. She knocked on the door with a single hoof. No answer. She pushed the door open to see Dinky with her head buried in her pillow.
"Go away." She mumbled.
"You're embarrased by how I look aren't you." Dinky turned to look at her mother. Her eyes were red. She had been crying. Her mane and pillows were wet.
"Please." Dinky replied sadly "Just leave me alone." A single tear leaked from Ditzy's eye as she turned to walk out of the room. Before she went down the stairs she looked over her shoulder.
"Goodbye, Dinky." She whispered.
Dinky perked up. It was too quiet. Something was wrong. She rushed out of her room and down the stairs.
"Mom!" She called. She darted inside each of the houses rooms worrying. Tears started forming in her eyes. She slammed through the front door and rushed outside. She looked inside alleyways, knocked on doors and asked if anypony had seen her mother. But she never found her. Until she heard Ditzy's voice.
"I'm sorry." Dinky rushed round the corner to see her mother fall off Ponyville dam. She had suspected her mothers wings would act impulsively and open as she fell. Then she saw it. Lying on the floor were two grey wings. Dinky rushed to the edge of the dam and saw Ditzy slam into the water. She turned round and sat on the floor, crying. The tears formed a glistening pool on the floor. The dark clouds covered the sun and it began raining heavily. She stood up and turned round. Then she jumped.
Dinky felt the water engulf her. Her horn glowed as she looked around inside the air bubble she had made. It had been hard but she had done it. As soon as she was inside the water she made it. A small speck of grey was heading towards the waterfall. She made the bubble go as fast as possible. If she went too fast the bubble would pop. She felt the bubble hit something. There was a pop. Dinky couldn't breathe. She grabbed hold of the thing to find out it was her mother. She concentrated. They were getting closer to the edge now. Dinky felt the water being pushed away as the air bubble reformed. The bubble started to surface. She felt the water cave back in as the bubble broke the surface of the water. Dinky had time to levitate her mother onto land before the current rushed her away.
Her eyes slowly opened and she saw her mother smiling down at her.
"I'm sorry." Dinky croaked. Her mother smiled.
"It's okay. I overreacted anyway."
"Why are your eyes different to everypony elses?" Asked Dinky. Ditzy was taken aback by the question but she just smiled.
"One is to make sure the world is safe and the other is to watch you grow." A small tear glistened against Dinky's cheek as she layed back. Her mother stayed with her for the whole night. She was out and back in school by morning. Everytime somepony made fun of her or her mother she ignored them. She didn't care what her mother looked like. She loved her just the way she was.
