Chapter 8: Chapter 7: Alicorn Amulets

Clare, Heaven training area:

I groaned as I felt the familiar gravitational pull of Elder’s training arena. I groaned as I rolled to my side and figured I’d just relax for a moment but then remembered vanishing. ‘Was I dead? Was this the void?’ I thought to myself and quickly sat up to see Elder bickering with Sky Dancer.

“A HUG! A hug is not special, I wanted something special” Elder complained and Sky Dancer shook her head. I could see that she had irritated the perverted old elf/man thing. I groaned as I sat up then I looked to Jonas who looked to be doing fine and was practising a fury of aggressive punches on a hologram fighter.

“Oh look, he’s up… we’ll settle this later” Elder sat as he walked over to me with Sky Dancer and Long Tail. “What… happened?” I asked curiously and I could tell that the question irritated Elder quite a lot.

“You ran out of time! You blew away your hour time limit like it was some joke and now we’re screwed” Elder commented. I remembered the elders telling me that we only had an hour than I realized that we had wasted it away. “So, just send us back” I replied.

“Just send you back?! We can’t just send you back. We already bent the laws and we can’t do it again” he said and I sighed. “Well there has to be something we can do” I said but he shook his head. “No, there is nothing we can do” he replied.

“Well what about you?” I asked and he raised an eyebrow. “What about me?” he asked and I pointed to where a halo ring would be if he was dead. “You aren’t dead, so why don’t you go?” I asked and he laughed like it was a joke.

“If I went it would be a waste of perfectly good life. They would destroy me” he replied and I sighed.

Third person, Canterlot castle:

Sombra, Chrysalis and Solar Eclipse walked down the hallways, inspecting the castle as they went along. Suddenly a swift gust of wind blew through the hallways. Sombra let out an irritated sigh as they all turned to see who was screwing around.

Nightmare Moon stood in the hallways, snarling and snorting like a wild bull. “Didn’t you learn the first time?” Solar Eclipse sneered as she stepped forwards. Nightmare Moon didn’t step back and instead stepped forwards to face her long-time rival.

They both immediately powered up and launched towards each other but taking a swift sweep, Nightmare Moon swiftly dodged the collision and kicked Solar Eclipse in the jaw. The powerful alicorn slammed against the wall and Nightmare Moon flew right into her and crashed their bodies through the wall and into the library.

Solar Eclipse swung their bodies around mid-flight and crashed her opponent’s body into a book shelf. The shelf toppled over and the two began to slam each other with powerful punches and kicks.

Nightmare Moon brought a powerful kick into Solar Eclipse’s gut then head-butted her. Solar Eclipse was dazed from the attack and Nightmare Moon blasted her with a powerful energy beam from her horn.

Solar Eclipse was blasted off Nightmare Moon’s body and crashed through several other book shelves. Nightmare Moon stood to her hooves and flew towards the crash site but she couldn’t find her rival’s body.

A powerful white blast caught her side and slammed her through a wall. Nightmare Moon skidded down the tile floor of a hallway and propelled herself up but as she went to land, Solar Eclipse flew into her and crashed her body through a stone pillar.

The dark princesses began to fight again with furies of punches and kicks. Nightmare Moon slammed a powerful kick into the side of Solar Eclipse’s head that sent her spiraling into a wall that broke from the force.

Nightmare Moon quickly flew through the wall but as she did her evil foe blasted her side with another energy beam, sending her crashing into a chemistry set. They were in some sort of laboratory. Glass shards stuck in Nightmare’s back and the glass sent jolts of pains through her back.

She staggered to her hooves but no sooner had she stood up Solar Eclipse slammed into her and crashed their bodies through another stone wall. Nightmare Moon slammed a powerful head-butt into Eclipse then punched her in the side of the head. Solar Eclipse was sent hurtling through the air and crashed into a chalk board. Solar Eclipse levitated dozens upon dozens of chalk pieces meant for drawing on the board then crushed the chalk up into dust.

As Nightmare Moon flew at her, she puffed up the chalk dust into Nightmare’s face, temporarily blinding her. She crashed through the chalk board and the wall ending up in the library again where Solar Eclipse kicked her through several book shelves.

Nightmare Moon’s powerful blue aura disappeared as she groped in pain from the beating she had endured. Solar Eclipse stepped in front of the battered princess and raised her hoof. “No-pony will stop me from killing you this time” Solar Eclipse hissed but no sooner had she said that, Sombra entered the room.

“Do not kill her” he ordered and Eclipse gasped. “WHAT! No, I’m killing her” Solar Eclipse snarled but as she went to blast Nightmare into oblivion Sombra raised his hoof and began to choke Solar Eclipse with a magical choke hold. “You will not defy my orders. Is that understood?” he asked in a deep tone. Solar Eclipse gagged then nodded reluctantly.

Sombra released his choke hold on her and she fell to the ground, gasping and wheezing for air. Sombra trotted up to Nightmare Moon. “She is very powerful, she just needs a little… touch” he whispered as he slowly lowered his horn down and touched the tip of his horn with the tip of Nightmare Moon’s.

Clare, Heaven training area:

“Well… just break the rules this once. The fate of the universe is at stake here” I argued with him. “No, the elders will not allow it” Elder argued back. “Who cares?! I’ll take the blame” I yelled but his mind would not be changed.

I flexed my muscles and let out an angered roar, a powerful blue aura surrounded me. My hair stood up into its spikey form and my muscles expanded. I brought my arms into the air and let out a tremendous roar then cocked my arms back down to the side, I felt my power surge incredibly. My hair shifted and it became more jagged. My muscles didn’t expand but I felt more powerful than before.

Electrical currents crackled around my entire body. I unclenched my fist and bursts of electricity crackled in my palms. “Amazing… what have you done?” Elder asked curiously. “I…I don’t know” I replied. My anger and frustration had pushed me to a new limit. “Well… there may be hope after all” he replied and I looked up to him.

“How? If I can’t go down there to stop them, then how am I supposed to beat them?” I asked. He smiled as he brought out two amulet looking things. They had a triangle base with a blue diamond in the center of each one. On the tops of the triangle amulets there was an alicorn, each one had the alicorn facing a different direction.

“Uhm… uh… alicorn amulets?” I replied. Elder sighed, “No, they are not. The common tale is that they are amulets but they are actually earrings. You place them on your ears and make sure that the face is facing outwards and you will have incredible powers” he told me.

“Uhm, yeah but don’t those things corrupt the user?” I asked and Elder laughed as he levitated them over to me. “No… not these ones. The ones that corrupt the user are the demon ones that were sent to Equestria by a demon lord long ago. These ones on the other hand are the holy earrings, the originals. They do not corrupt the soul” he told me. I was still hesitant to use them but I figured if worse came to worse I could always just break the magic lock that kept me bound to its power.

I placed them on my ears. Luckily it was just a snap on earing and didn’t require me to pierce my ear. I stood there for a moment but I didn’t feel any different. “Uhm… I think they’re broken” I muttered and Jonas snickered. He had come over when he watched me power up earlier.

“No-no, they’re working. You just have to power up” Elder said and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “I don’t think I can. I’ve ascended to a plateau of power that I can’t pass” I told him and he sighed.

“Just… let go, do that super thing you always do and I’m sure it will work out” Elder informed me as he sat down. “Alright I’ll try” I said and he looked up to me. “No, do… or do not, there is no try” he told me. “Alright… here it goes” I said and he looked up to me in shock. “No wait, do it somewhere else” he exclaimed but I paid him no mind.

I clenched my fists and yelled out as I felt energy flow through my body. Electricity coursed around my body at a more accelerated rate. The ground beneath me shook and a very strong wind blew from my aura of blue energy that surrounded my body along with the electricity. Elder was tossed back from the incredible power that was produced from my body.

The entire training area seemed to shake as my aura of power blew gusts of wind and cloud dust away from me. Electricity coursed around my body and mixed in with the aura of power.

“Well… he couldn’t have waited for me to move… how disrespectful” he muttered. I let out a final yell then felt my power shift into place. It was incredible, like something was feeding my energy to me at a steady rate, I felt like I could do anything. I clenched my fists and ascended further. But I found that I had reached my limit and slowly un-tensed my body.

“Impossible… this is just impossible” I muttered to myself. Elder walked over to me with Jonas, Sky Dancer and Long Tail. “That is why you fail. You must always remember that there is a point beyond what you have reached. Sometimes you just have to dig deep inside” he told me and I nodded. Though he was a pervert, he was a wise old elf.

“But that still doesn’t solve our problems. How is Clare supposed to fight those demons if he can’t go down to Equestria?” Jonas mentioned. I sighed as I realized he was right. Despite my new powers it did no good if I couldn’t use them.

Elder sighed depressingly. “Well… I have been saving one last resort, and I wanted to make sure it was worth it” Elder said and I gave him a curious look. Elder let out a deep sigh. “I’ll give you my life so that you can return to Equestria… just don’t go wasting it” he said. I let out a shocked expression, “You mean… you’re giving up your life… for me?” I asked and he nodded. “It may be our only hope” he replied.

I gave him a nod of extreme gratefulness. “You’re… too kind Elder” I said and he let out a chuckle. “Well it’s the least I can do for my inappropriate behaviour recently” he chuckled. I stifled a laugh, that was a statement true to its word, but he shouldn’t think that he’d have to give up his life just for some bad behaviour.

Elder sat down on the cloudy floor. I stood in front of him along with the others. “Well… I’ll see you later” he said then suddenly he simply dropped dead. We all gasped in shock. Just like that an elder god had sacrificed his life for the greater good of the universe.

I knelt beside Elder and rested my palm on his shoulder, “Thank you, old friend” I whispered. “You’re halo… it’s gone” Sky Dancer said and I realized that she was right. If I was alive than why exactly was I still in heaven?

“Thank you Elder… I won’t let your sacrifice be for nothing” I whispered then all of a sudden he sat up. “Then why are you still here!” he exclaimed. His sudden outburst caught us all off guard.

He had a halo ring above his head. “Why are you still here? Get down there and beat those guys!” he yelled. “I uh… how?” I asked and he let out a sigh. “Fine, I’ll transport you down there… just don’t go wasting your immortality… god immortality is harder to come by than hot babes these days” he muttered. “Immortality?” I asked and he nodded. “Well of course, I was immortal, so by transferring my life to you it makes you immortal. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be killed by those bastards so be careful” he informed me.

I was awestruck. I was so emotionally struck by his sacrifice that a tear came to my eye. “Clare… before you go” Sky Dancer said and whirled me around. She lept up to her hindlegs and wrapped her forelegs around my neck. “I always thought you were cute… and all the would-be males that came and went in my life, you’re the only one who ever stood up for me” she said. “But… I killed you, we were enemies” I stammered.

She smiled. “Yes, but the war is over and this may be my only chance to say what I need to say. I feel for you Clare, and if it wasn’t for your relationship with Luna than I’d try to become romantically involved. But I respect your relationship with her” she said as she leaned forwards and kissed me.

We kissed passionately, though I felt kind of awkward about it due to the fact that I was still sort of in a relationship with Luna. She pulled back from the kiss and dropped down to her hooves. “Goodbye Clare, perhaps one day I’ll be able to come visit you” she said and I nodded. “Goodbye Sky Dancer, I’ll never forget you” I told her.

“Figures, I do all the work and he gets all the kisses” complained Elder. I chuckled to myself and looked to Jonas. I extended my hand and we gave one final handshake, acknowledging each other’s powers. “Goodbye Jonas” I said and he nodded. I looked over to Long Tail.

I knelt down so I was eye level with him. “Hey, take care of your mother alright. She missed you” I told him and he nodded. He gave me a hug which I returned. With all the goodbyes said and done I stood up and looked to Elder.

“Alright… I guess it’s now or never” I said and Elder nodded as he raised his hands and said a chant. Yellow magic surrounded my body then my mind went blank.
