In Ponyville, Lyra watches television bored on the couch as usual. Lyra zaps at the television set to change the channel or the volume. It was a drab boring day for her as a sigh audibly fills the air. However, Bon Bon slinks in ever so slowly to see what Lyra was up to. Almost instinctively as if Lyra knew what Bon Bon had been thinking, Lyra goes "Yeah, I am bored Bon Bon." Bon Bon sighs herself and hops up on to the couch to sit human-like on it like Lyra does. "Well, what can we do together?" she replies. "Gee, I don't know." Lyra says looking down at her tail. Bon Bon says "How about we play Hide and Go Seek together?" Lyra says "What's that?" Bon Bon tells her "What, you have never played Hide and Seek before?!" Lyra: "I don't think so. What is it about?" Bon Bon looks up and shrugs. "Well, it is a very simple concept." she says. "Merely hide somewhere around here and after I finish counting I will try and find you amongst the hiding places littered through out the house." Lyra: “Well, okay then, off I go!”.

Lyra sluggishly gets off of her spot on the couch and then starts hiding somewhere in their house to participate in the game that she just recently learned how to play. Lyra found plenty of hiding places, but they were all just average places that she could get caught pretty easily. “Why would I hide anywhere around here when I could just use magic and not get caught as long as possible?!” Lyra thought. Her magical horn then started to glow in order to use magic.

Bon Bon counts from 10 to 0 with her eyes closed tightly and facing a wall, and also with her arms in front of her face, to make extra sure that she does not see where Lyra had hid. "Okay Lyra, ready or not here I come!" she shouts. Lyra giggles somewhere in the room. She opens her eyes and looks around. "Hmm, that giggle didn’t sound very far, actually. Where could my friend Lyra be?" she asked herself. “It sounded like she was somewhere in that room almost!” Bon Bon said. “I really do not know Lyra for being sneaky one bit!” she added in a more accusing sort of tone. “This just is not like her.” Bon Bon added.

Bon Bon looked everywhere, places like cabinets, underneath tables, underneath beds, in the garden, but she could not find her good pal Lyra anywhere. "Oh Lyra, where are you already?!" Bon Bon exclaimed. Lyra then spoke up and reveal herself "Why, I'm right over here!" Magical energies start becoming visible and slowly but surely Lyra’s form starts coming into being. It turns out that Lyra was there the entire time but used her magical powers to vanish without a trace. "Lyra!" Bon Bon loudly stated. "That is not exactly how the game works." she added. "Then how does it work?" Lyra asked. "You are supposed to find a place to hide behind and then the other player finds you - no invisibility spells or magic tricks." Bon Bon pointed out.

"Oh I see then." responded Lyra, feeling a bit disappointed that her magic conflicted with the traditional way the game is played. "Perhaps I will now count then find and you will go hide?" Bon Bon gives a short shrug and goes off for a place to hide in the house. Lyra counts to ten. "Ready or not, here I come!" Lyra shouts. Lyra again looks almost everywhere but just couldn't find Bon Bon. A timer counts down to half an hour. When that ends without the searcher finding the hider, the searcher loses. The last 10 seconds tick down on it then it starts to ring. Bon Bon leaves the closet, along with that terrible closet smell, happy she eluded Lyra for so long. "Well, Lyra, you cheated the first time and was confounded the second time! How does that feel?" Lyra then says "Oh, it's not the worst thing that could happen. I'm just upset over the whole cheating part that took place the first time." Bon Bon goes would you like to do that part over again, Lyra?" Lyra then says "Alright, that'll work!" and Lyra went for another hiding spot. Bon Bon counts down from 10 again. This time, all of the places she checked, including empty space in case Lyra tried invisibility again, proved to be wrong. Bon Bon couldn't find Lyra within half an hour. Where was Lyra hiding? The closet, and she hid there on purpose supposing that Bon Bon was less likely to assume she would hide in her spot, Lyra explained. Bon Bon: "Well, I guess that ingenious strategy makes up for failing the game twice in a row." Lyra: "Ha ha, I guess so. Thanks for playing it" Bon Bon: "No problem. It was my pleasure!"

In the end, the two ponies had no problem being friends after this game. They played other kinds of games than this one, like jacks, tic tac toe, marbles, and tag. Although, they played this game more times as well, since those other games listed had not tested them like hide and go seek had that day. In fact, they even eventually allowed for magic to be used, as long as certain provisions were met to make it less like cheating and much more like playing fair. That is how every game should be, fair to the participants playing it, and through this story, Lyra and Bon Bon had lead by example. Keep that in mind upon your games and make sure that whatever you play can be a safe, fun, and happy activity for all involved. Just don’t use magic like Lyra did at first, unless the game somehow involves magic, which few do. Not real magic any way. A game with real magic – how silly is that?!
