Gamble

On Earth, There was once a race of people that worshiped two gods, one of the moon and one of the sun. There empire stretched far and wide, Ruling with harmony and a iron fist. Over time doubts sprang up over the gods being worshiped and people began to worship another god and call the old ones blasphemy, saying it was wrong to worship ponies and that it was imposable for a pony to have made the earth they all lived on. The people began to bring a human like gods in to the light and started burning all the old worshipers of the pony gods. The empire acted as best it could and soon a civil war broke out and split the empire in half.

Our story starts with a young mother pregnant with her first child and having a wavering faith for the two goddesses her family worshiped. If not for her husband who kept her Faith alive and payed tribute to the goddesses every week. The mother was always conflicted about her religion, her parent lived on the other side of the wall that now separated the two halves of the once great empire. They told her of the greatness of there god and all the joys he would bring to his people, all the sick and dieing he would heal though prayer.

Despite how she felt she allowed the child to be boron under the two goddesses so a blessing could be given to her son. Not long after his birth hostilities rose again and war broke out. The father told his wife as he left to fight in the war. “Go my wife I so adore. Take our son every day and pray to the goddesses for there blessing on our family, I hope to see you soon my beloved."

Two month had passed and the war took a turn for the worst. These worshipers of this human god did not leave a single stone unturned and purged every living thing that did not convert to there god, killing children that were born under the goddesses and enslaving the women across the conquered lands there war was one of total annihilation to wipe every last drop of blasphemies worshiping blood from the lands. Soon they neared my family's village.

In equestria

Luna and Celestia stood in there castle feeling the slaughter of those they guided so long ago. Shedding a tear for every person struck down in the name of “purification”.

"Sister," Luna began, "Why cant we go and help our people they may not be ponies but they have lived the same as any of our ponies have. They payed tribute and never stopped believing in us."

"Because my dear Luna, Even though they may die their souls will wait at the gate of the eternal heard. Mother has asked us not to help them." "She said they had paid there dues and are welcomed as one of her own. They have a better existence waiting for them beyond the vale that is mortal life." Celestia explained.

"I still don’t like it." Luna said in a aggravated tone. "It’s.... it’s just wrong, why not just pull there souls from there bodies and allow them to escape the pain of death.... I feel so helpless sister and i cant stand it!"

"I feel the same way... They have to be killed in order for there souls to break free of the domain of the raising god of that plan..." Celestia said. "If there was any other way I would have gone it already.... You know I would have."

"I know sister I know..... It just seems so wrong! ugh I can stand it.... I’m going to sleep and do not wish to be disturbed by any one." Luna said as she stormed off.

"Oh my dear sister, I feel your pain and wish I could leave as well but I must stay in to Shepperd them to the gates of there new home." Celestia said. "sigh.."

Luna lay on her bed feeling all the pain of such a injustice and hearing all the prayers being made to them... They seemed louder then before to her. “it must be a full moon..." She Thought. "Ugh! This is unbearable.” As Luna lay there she began to form a plan, She would clock her self to hider be life force and go to there world and save as many as she could, Bring them here. "Surly mother and father would see her reasoning how could they not, Even they must have shed at least one tear over this travesty."

Luna quietly rushed down to the lowest part of the castle where a old room they once used to travel to and from other worlds. She entered the old room and lite the runes filling them with just enough magic so not to be detected by Celestia. She then moved to the center of the room and began the chant. The runes shined with life as they did may centuries ago shooting energy to the center of the room covering Luna in a orb of trans dimensional energy then with a bright flash she was gone. Nothing but smoke was left and the runes glow dimly with one more charge for her return trip.

It was black in the church of the goddesses not a soul was in sight then a jolt of lightning from the alter and another and another then a orb appeared and expanded in engulfing the alter and a large portion of the stage it sat upon, it shone brightly for a few seconds and Luna steeped out. immediately Luna noticed two things, One it was completely black and two the smell of blood was in the air...

Luna raised her horn in the air and cast a spell to light the room the sight she was greeted with almost made her throw up. Corpses lay everywhere women and children even some men. She shed a tear. “They came here looking for salvation and instead were slaughtered.... Am I to late.” She asked herself. Then raising her horn again to scan for any life that may still cling to this world and found something faint, barley alive about five miles away... Feeling only one life barley clinging to existence crushed her spirts. she was to late and all of there people now lay dead waiting at the gates of the eternal heard. Lowering her head in defeat. Then she heard it. the whispers of a prayer, She closed her eyes and constricted on the prayer.

“Dear god.. ugh.. desses p.. please save m...my son.... please!!" The Mother cried. "If not for me th... then for my husband.... p...ugh... please I... I beg of y.. you...” She held a small child in her arms barley over half a year old the baby did not cry he just watch this women holding him. Slowly bleeding out and beg something to come save him.

Blood dripped from the woman's forehead and fell to his cheek and into his pure white hair.

She was dieing and fast.

The woman barley clinging to life looked to the sky hoping and wishing for her prayers to answered, then she saw it, something in the dark almost horse like with wings as it neared she could see a horn atop it’s head and a tear rolled down her cheek.

The creator landed in front of her and light shone from her horn illuminating it’s self and the mother.

Luna looked the the creator before here and couldn’t help but feel the pain in the mothers eyes. She stepped forward and took a deep breath then spoke. “Dear mortal I have come to answer your prayers it only sad ins me to come before you just before the end, As you wished I will take your child and raise him with the same love you would have. Know that your soul dose not end here, A gift of true happiness awaits you with all your loved ones on the other side.”

After hearing this the woman smiled weakly “Thank you” then she crawled to Luna and put the baby in her foreleg then slowly laid back allowing the sweet release of death to take her. Her eyes slowly crept shut and one last breath escaped her mouth and her soul ascended to meet her husband at the gates.

Luna looked at the Human child and tears formed in her eyes. Yes she was to late to save so many lives but she would make up for it with this one child. She took flight back to the church where she came into this world....

The runes began to glow brightly once more as an orb formed in the center of the room, Luna stepped out levitating the baby right beside her. “ I am truly sorry young one I truly am but I will love you as if you were one of my own ponies."

“So thats your plan then Luna” Celestia said from the door way to the rune chamber. “I can’t believe you would have gone against mother and father like that. Now you’ll have to beg for forgiveness and ask if you can keep the child”

“I know this Tia and I will take my punishment no matter what mother and father give to me. It will be worth it knowing I saved this one.”

“They want to talk to you now, Go to the thrown room their waiting for you”

“What! So soon... Fine." Luna stated as she exited to room.

Luna walked down the hall with the baby floating with her. He was still silent almost like he was taking in all the sites of his new home. As she neared the door she noticed not a signal guard was in sight and she could feel the power of her parents just beyond the doors. As she stopped at the doors they crept open and she entered nerves she had never broke there rules and this was a huge rule she had just broke just to save only one signal child, a baby for that matter.. What would her parents do to her what couldn’t they do?..

Chapter 2

Luna stood before her parents, It wasn’t often that they would come to there realm and when ever they did no mortal could see them unless they had nearly died or were blessed. The King and Queen looked at there daughter not saying a word just taking in the sight of there beloved daughter. It had been centuries since there last meeting and they both just wanting to hug her and love on her but first the law must be set and new rules applied.

First King Anova spoke. My dear Luna why have you gone against our wishes and brought a human to your relam. We know your sister told you about our gift to them was.

Father I know I have broken your rules and Mother yours as well but they called to me and begged me. This child is all that remain of the people that once payed us such great respect and tribute.

King Anova Spoke again. We saw all that has happened and we know why you did it.

Yes dear we do. said Queen Andromeda. We do not love you any less but you must pay for the laws you have broken.

B..but father, mother I did it because I couldn’t just sit by and let such a injustice happen.

Luna could do or say nothing, she could just gulp down the fear as she felt her life force being tied to the young one she vowed to raise as her own.

Good the King said. Now how about some time with our two daughter.

With that said Celestia walking into the room excited to spend time with her parent. She stopped next to Luna and whispered into her ear. “Sister I will help you raise him” Hearing this a smile crept across Luna’s face and she hugged her sister with a tear running down her cheek.

One more thing Luna the king said. On his twelve birthday we shale test him and should he pass we will grant him our blessing.......

6 years later

A young boy ran down the halls happly skipping with a young filly they were going to see the summer sum celebration and soon the great eclipse. It was a show for all to adore, A feast for the eyes for Celestia and Luna’s kingdom to show true harmony.

Hey Twilight I bet I can beat you to the court yard the young boy teased as he took off down the hall running as fast as his legs would carry him.

Hey! That’s not far yelled Twilight and she bolted off to caught up with the boy.

They raced though the halls laughing all the way as they tried to beat each other to the yard. Running neck and neck The two had become best of friends over the years pushing each other to do better.

Hey Twilight wheres spike The boy asked as they arrived at the yard.

I’m Right here Spike said from atop a guard arriving just behind then. He hoped off the guard and thanked him. Hey where Luna?

Oh im sure she’s on the stage waiting for Clestia. Twilight said as they all moved to the front of the crowd.

This year the celebration was help in canterlot. ever pony far and wide came to the city to watch the celebration and bask in the awe of there protectors. As the moon slowly set the sun begain to rise from the horizon as Celestia flow in sink with the rising sun then she landed on the stage and shine forth a warming glow filling everypony with joy and hope of another great year for the empire of equestria. “My dear subject that honer me with your presence welcome to the new year, May we strive for peace and a better life always through love and perseveres. It is not Luna or my self that makes our home great but it is all of you together working in harmony for this day is yours.”

With that the crowed began to cheer some even hoped up and down with excitement and other simply hugged there friends and neighbors some even shed tears of joy.

Later that day after all the excitement died down and most pony left. Twilight and the boy waited in the hall for the days royally business to be concluded. After what felt like hours to the two the doors of the meeting room opened and out stepped a few ponies talking cheerily about the day and what is to come at the next meeting, after they were gone the two rushed inside to greet the princesses.

The boy first ran to his aunt “that was amazing Auntie Celestia i mean how you flow they the sky and all the lighs and cheering like wow.”

Thank you Michael. Celestia said with a smile on her face as twilight rocketed onto her with a hug based attack. “Hey hey now Twilight not to tight...*cough*.

Heh sorry princes but Michael was right that was amazing....

Leaving the two to talk about there day Michael walked over to his mother. “hey mom I can’t wait to see the winter moon celebration, It’s gonna be exciting too. Oo oo are you gonna do something fancy like aunt Celestia did? I bet it’s gonna be way more amassing.”

Now now Michael it’s not a computation Luna said. All though I do have something big planed. It’s gonna be in Stalliongrad this year. Now i belive you and Twilight have your studys to get to.

Awwwww. But mmmom... It’s so boring. Cant I just train out side with the guards? They just fly around and do really cool flying stuff and and...

Michael learning about your home and it’s ponies is important too. Your a price and your ponies will look up to you in do time, don’t you want to be there for those ponies.

With that Michael rushed out of the study and shot down the hall as fast as he could, He’d be darned if he was gonna mis the chance to join the scouts, For a long time now he has been begging to join the scouts but Luna kept telling him he was to young but now he’s 7 years old and nothings gonna hold him back. As Michael ran to the meeting spot just out side in the rollay garden his thought turned to Twilight. She what the only young female he had ever know but yet he felt like she was a sister to him or something close but right now it’s all to confusing for his mind to desifer at a young age.

As Michael arived at the meeting spot the meeting had just stared and the leader gave him a permison fourm for his mom to fill out and a list of item he was gonna need. “Now litsen up colts your all gonna have to get the items on the list and get your parents permison to let you join the colt scouts.” “Now I know all of you are excited but this is a life skill biulding group no just some crazy lone wolf suviest training, Once you’r in we are like a family and you will respect the leaders and the other colts like they were family, OK.

“OK!” The group shouted excitedly ready to rush off to get there parents permistion and all the item they were gonna need.

Ok the leader bagan again. Now here is a panflet telling you all about the scouts and what it is we do and the skills you’ll learn like how to forage fand what plantes are ok to eat and how to avoid predators just to name a few, we will meet here in one week have your fourms filled out and your items on hand.

Then the group slowly dispersed. Michael knew what the first thing he had to do and it wasn’t gonna be easy no not at all, he’ll have to beg his mom to let him join the scouts then the rest should be easy.

But mmmom why can’t I join them you said I have to wait tell I was older and I’m seven now. Seven years old, I’m a big kid now.

After about a hour of hard work putting away a ton of books the two claspted on the ground exhausted. They leaned on each other to stay up but to no avail and soon sleep took them both.

Chapter 4

“Just one week mom, Then I’ll be off camping with the scouts. I can’t wait.”

“Oh well I got my sister to cover my work for a week so how about we go stay at my favorite star gazing spot. Then we can plan the rest of the week from there. How dose that sound?

“Sounds like fun mom. When are we gonna leave?”

“After I raise the moon sweet heart.” “But until then you better get on your studies and only after your done, you can go out with the guards and train with them. Ok.”

After the short talk with his mom Michael hugged her and walk off to the study. “I bet Twilight is already there, she’ll help me if I get stuck, huh now that I think of it shes always the first one to help me.... *Gulp* what if she likes me..... Gross hahaha. na that would be dumb” After that brief chat with him self Michael arrived at the study and Twilight was there face deep in another book so Michael snuck behind her and tossed a book to the far side of the room witch startled Twilight out of her book based coma.

Epp! “What was that.” looking around Twilight spotted the book on the floor that wasn’t there before and got up to go take a look at the possessed book. Michael followed closely behind her staying quiet as possible till she got to the book then he taped her on the back and darted out in front of her as she tuned the other way to see who wanted her attention but nothing was there. “Whats going on here... well I’ll just.....” *Boo!* “AH! “Michael you jerk you scared to hay out of me!”

Oh I’m sorry Twilight I was only having some fun with you.

Hello!..” “Aww man he must be out... well it can’t be that hard to cook some bacon and eggs can it...” Searching for about five whole minutes Michael found all he was looking for and began to cook the eggs first. “I wander how Twilight likes her eggs, I’ll just have to remember to ask her later.” Next came the bacon greasy but smells great, was all Michael could think whale he cooked the food for Twilight. “Hmm I should make some for my self too I am pretty hungry..

After finishing the food Michael left the kitchen and saw Aunt Celestia walking trod the throne room.

Hey Michael who is all that for? Celestia asked.

Hey aunt Celestia, This is for Twilight and I.

Oh how sweet of you, such a genital colt you are.

What!.. But.. ah sure yea. heh Thank you. Oh and thank you for covering for mom so we can spend the whole week together. *Hug*

After that Celestia walked into the throne room and Michael head to the study where Twilight eagerly awaited her meal. “why thank you Michael your always good to me.” heh.

After sharing a good laugh the two ate their food and began to study. After a few hours passed Michael was done thanks to Twilights help, he stood up hugged her and thanked her. Then took off to play with the guards out side.

All tho it was really training but it was so fun Michael just thought of it like playing. Aside from Twilight he didn’t really have any other friends and the guard treated him well. They encouraged him to work harder, faster and was always ready with much needed water or a towel to wipe off the hard earned sweat off his brow.

Out on the training grounds captain Blade Mane was shouting drill orders at the recruits. “Come on you call that fast! And you! You call that a push up get closer to the ground!”

Hey captain. Michael said, Interrupting him.

Hm. Ah yes I was beginning to wander when you would come out here today.

Yea I would have been here sooner but mom made me study.. it’s so boring you know.

After a long day of training Michael left the training yard sore. “I better get a nap in before mom raises the mom. I really don’t get that much time with her.”

The Cervidas empier have taken the colony of seaddale... what? where is that.. hmm also ships have been spotted coming from the south heading to the main land.” Yes sir that all correct. We have reports form Gallopfrey that confirm it all sir.

What!? Michael stammered. Who are you any was?

Michael got dressed and ran down the the gate to meet his mother for their week long get away. “That dream... Michael thought to him self. It seemed to real... well I’ll ask mom about it later.”

Luna watched as her son came running up to the sky carriage panting. “did you run all the way here?”

Yea *huff* I didn’t *huff* wanna be late.

Heh. don’t worry we have all night to get there. Come sit next to me.

The carriage started rolling then lifted off the ground slowly crawling higher and higher then it broke though the clouds and reviled the most awing site of stars Michael had ever seen. His mom really pulled out all the stops. You could see the other planets of the solar system and even one or two galaxy's not to forget the sight of all the other stars.

Wow! Mom this is awesome. I had no idea you could make it so beautiful.

Hey give me some credit I am the moon princess after all and I’m glad you like it. On your birthday your really gonna be in for a treat.

Heh. No no dear that would ruin the surprise. we have a lot to do this week and there is much fun to be had.

As the night began the carriage slowly coasted through the air to it’s destination. There first stop was at the mountain retreat Luna had built sometime ago. This was her favorite spot to go when she needed time to think or even just to get out of the castle. Aside from going to the moon this was the closest to the moon as anyone could get. The house was heated and maintained by Luna personal guards. These ponies here where the closes she had ever been to somepony and they acted more like friends and not just the run of the mill guards back at the castle. The house was decorated like her room back at the castle, symbols of the moon all around even the floor was made of chiseled moon rock. The floor had a almost silver ish blue tint to it and even glowed slightly when the moon prices was in the house.

Wow mom this is so amassing. I can’t believe this it’s just. Wow.

Heh. Glad to see someone like my tastes.

Ah welcome back Prices Luna. one of the attending guards said. and I see we final get the meet your son. Hello there I’m Night Glide.

Oh nothing sweet heart, why don’t you head up stairs and get your room set up how you want it and take Moon riser to help you.

Ok mom.. Come on Moon Riser you and I are the only guys in this place. Just a bunch of silly girls and there silly talks.

After the two where safely upstairs and out of ear shot Luna continued her talk with Night Glide.

Ok we can talk more now just keep your voice down. So you could see it too then? Luna began.

Yes. I thought all of his kind were gone from these lands. Just the look of his eyes spells it all out. Anyone with a real eye for greatness will see it. Night Glide responded.

It’s the same thing captain Blade Mane told me when he first saw him even when Michael was still a baby. He even convinced me to let him train Michael three times a week. I guess He treats Michael like one of his own foals. Luna commented.

Blade Mane? You mean that colt finally grow up? Heh. It’s about time. Say. You wouldn’t happen to know if he’s single would you?

As the night went on Luna continued to talk to Night Glide like two old friends catching up on years of events and life experiences they had. Whale up stair Moon Riser and Michael moved stuff around and talkrd about fun things to do around here. Moon Riser was a younger guard only about eightteen in human years.

Hey Moon Riser. Michael began. Have you ever got into a fight? Or had to restrain someone?

Well no but I did watch Night Glide kick some stallions flank in Tramplevania when we stopped there for supplies. Night Raider said with a hint of pride.

Really! That really cool. Why did she beat him up? Michael asked.

He tried to steal something right in front of us and then he even tried to fight back.Moon Riser said.

Must have been pretty exciting to watch? Michael responded.

Na it was quick. Not even ten seconds. Night Glide has been a guard for ten years now and she’s mastered Hoof to hoof combat. Moon Raiser said in a bragging tone.

Wow I’ve only seen Blade Mane fight and he’s the best of the castle guard maybe in the whole empire. Michael said.

Wait you know Blade Mane? He was my trainer when I was a young recruit. Now there is a stallion that can fight. I wouldn’t mind seeing him and Night Glide go at it. Moon Raiser said

I don’t know she’s a girl and I havn’t been to impressed by to many of them. Michael responded

SHHH!! Don’t let Night Glide hear you say that. She’ll turn you in side out. Moon Raiser said in a hushed tone.

Both of them jumped and shot around to find Night Glide in the door way.

Oh.. Uh... N... no one I was just telling Michael about the time you whopped that stallions flack in Tramplevania. Then he said Blade Mane was the strongest pony he’d seen. Moon Raiser stated

Ah yes your mom tells me you’ve been getting trained by Blade Mane him self. Pretty exciting, He’s a good pony to have as a personal trainer. Night Glide said.

Good? Michael began. He’s like the best fighter I’ve ever seen! Don’t tell my mom, but once he took me out on patrol and I watched him stop a gang of 6 ponies all by him self.

Heh. Blade Mane still got some spunk in his old bones huh. Anyways come on it’s time for dinner. Night Glide said.
