As a child, she had not been much of a talker. It appeared as if she had no talents. She didn't interact with the children of Cloudsdale, and was considered by most of them as simply strange. Ridicule ensues, and revenge is had. The memories are lost after a concussion, but memories don't simply vanish. Their effects linger on, and when memories are suppressed and then suddenly released, mental instability shall follow. The case does not change for Fluttershy, and this becomes apparent in Psychosis Is Magic.

BTW, First fanfic. (I decided to continue it because I had gotten as bored as I was when I wrote this and the story didn't seem to be complete by the time Chapter one was over. :)
