A/N: Lead up is same as the few minutes preceding the rainboom from S1E16.

"Numbah 15, let's go!" The behind-the-scenes mare of the "Young Flier's Competition" said angrily, tapping on Rainbow Dash's flank. The rainbow-haired mare sat against a blue pillar, shaking. Hearing the dressing room door finally swing open to reveal a... well, frivolous, to say the least, Rarity, brought a little relief to both the mare that was running the background and Rainbow Dash.

"Rarity is ready~!" The... "fashionable" unicorn said, sparkling in the sunlight from the doorway.

"Look ladies, I don't know what to tell you, but there's only time for one more performance. If you both want to compete, you'll just have to go out there together." The staff mare said, obviously annoyed that they were behind schedule.

"Well, Rainbow Dash? Shall we~?" Rarity asked, still smug as ever. Those wings were undoubtedly getting to her head.

"Ng.. Heh.. Eng... Hh.." Rainbow Dash blubbered, shaking and sweating.

"And now, for our final competitor of the day... Contestant number 15!" The announcer colt, well, announced. A nervous Rainbow Dash emerged from the curtains concealing the area the other pegasi had been previously.

"And... what looks to be contestant number 4." The announcer mumbled as Rarity emerged. Twilight, Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Applejack began cheering for their two friends.

"Good luck Rainbow Dash, just do your best." Rarity said, her smooth voice almost intimidating. Rainbow Dash was still reduced to unintelligible mumbling and nervous hyperventilation.

"I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of changing our music. That... 'Rock and Roll'... doesn't really match my wings." Rarity cooed. Rainbow Dash gulped nervously, even more worried that her performance would be reduced further due to lack of tempo. As Rarity began performing some odd, mid-air dance routine, Rainbow Dash perked up.

"Come on, Rainbow Dash, you can do this!" She said to herself, "Just remember the routine." The music was not fitting at all. "Phase one." She said, staring down a row of cloud-pillars. She began slaloming between them, trying her best to keep in rhythm with the music. After hitting one pillar and smashing her face into the edge of the arena, she became slightly dazed. One insult from the audience, though, and she was right back up.

"Time for phase two." She said after watching Rarity perform a pirouette. Rainbow Dash began flying circles around clouds, causing them to spin. One of the clouds, though, had enough of that and dealt Rainbow Dash a swift smack to the face. The cloud, furthering its anti-pony quest, flew at the Princess. It narrowly missed, thankfully for Rainbow Dash. Nervously, Rainbow Dash began her finale, the Sonic Rainboom. Rarity also began her finale. It seems appropriate that this finale would, in fact, be their finale.
