Chapter 1: Another Dawn

Another Dawn

The light rushes towards me. It spins and dances around my form, as if to mock my defeat. The elements of harmony glow above, signifying their betrayal to all. I an alicorn, queen of the moon and the blanket of stars in my night's sky, replaced as their master by some sun loving scum.

This entire world loathes me. Even after all I did, still no love resides in their hearts my night and me. I am just an unloved castaway; nopony knew who I am or appreciated what I'd given to them. But I made sure they knew I made sure that they could see me and the glory of my darkness. But my subjects ran and hid afraid of my gift, they pleaded to my sister to destroy it and me. Through the treason I feel now I can remember that day with ease; the other day I went through this pain.

-----------------------------------------------------------

My dear sister, stormed into my throne room her eyes watering with tears for the joy she was about to receive, she pleaded once more that I destroy my gift.

She called it a curse. The only pony I loved and cared for trotted up to me and called my life's work, my very reason for existence a curse.

And at that moment there was no going back. No hope for another chance or negations she didn't deserve my love anymore, she didn't deserve life. I can remember striking her again and again, her blood stained my hooves and my soul. But no matter how many times I attacked she wouldn't fight back, not even defend herself she'd just repeat the same thing again after each blow.

"I'm sorry."

THUD

"I'm sorry."

THUD THUD THUD

"I'm sorry."

Only when my exhaustion had overcome my anger did the savagery halt, only then did I understand the monstrous meaning behind "I'm sorry." The traitor clambered up barely able to move let alone stand. Her eyes fixed on my own not blinking or hesitating, those where eyes filled with only one thing, a thing I didn't yet recognize. She drew up her now dripping crimson wings towards the ceiling, and I gasped upon seeing what lay hidden beneath. Her gaze unmoving she lifted the objects that I knew so well above me and said the last words I ever thought I'd  here her say.

"I'm sorry."

--------------------------------------------------------

I spent many a century during my exile pondering that day. Every time I recalled it, my hatred would grow stronger and more dangerous. Until it soon began to plot sweet revenge on my sister who could so easily forsake her kin.

And I almost had it; I was so close to gaining the vengeance I craved. Only to be ruined now by these pathetic little ponies. I look up from inside the tornado of light to see if the eyes of the ones who stand against me now matched the ones burned into my memory.

And as I look into that purple unicorn's eyes, shining like the sun I hate so much. I see it all return. All the memories before, the trying times when me and my sister together used the elements to defeat Discord and bring harmony. The happy times we spent leading the way for all the different types of ponies, I see those special times where she'd sit with me in my room as I painted each individual star.

And looking into those white glowing eyes I learn the meaning behind my sister's, because above all else I see love, and it changes me.

"Sister I'm sorry."
