Ch. 4 The Best of Happy Endings

It has been just over a week since the fight between Vinyl Scratch and the big stallion. The DJ pony went to the hospital the day after and found that he had three broken ribs, a bruised lung, and multiple bruises all over his body. Vinyl felt good though; he had kept the pony from harming Stella more than he did which made it so the wounds he got not matter, She was safe.

After the accident, Stella and vinyl had become closer than ever. Even with the DJ pony being injured, he never ceased to do things that made her smile. She wanted to be closer to him, so she asked if she could move in with him on the day he got out of the hospital. Vinyl of course said yes, this was what he has been waiting for, now she would be closer to him than ever before.

Vinyl was sitting in his house, which was located just far enough away from Ponyville so that the ponies that he entertained at the club would not harass him. He was lying on his favorite couch, one that his parents had left for him when he went out to live his dream of becoming a hit DJ. He laid there content, Stella lying next to him asleep, her gentle breaths barely able to be heard. He was in his nirvana once again. He looked down at her and watched her as she slept, picturing in his mind all of the wonderful things that they have done together. In his mind he was the happiest pony that ever lived.

He was not surprised that Stella was asleep this early in the day. Since the incident, she has been helping him get back on his feet again. He didn’t want her help and said that he was fine, but she never listened to him. He would always grumble and say ‘fine’ and then she would smile at him. She wanted to see him at his full strength as soon as possible. He would not let her down.

As he lied there he drifted off into sleep as well. The sweet aroma emanating off of her mane practically lulling him to sleep. He put his hoof around her midsection and fell asleep. He was asleep for a good four hours before he awoke.
He opened his eyes slightly and saw Stella’s bright blue eyes looking into his. “Well, it looks like we both needed the rest” Vinyl said as he stretched one of his legs, causing a dull pain to shoot up into his chest.

“Yeah, we need to get you up in your room so you can really get comfortable” Stella said helping the marble white unicorn up to his feet.

They both walked up to Vinyl’s bedroom, which was on the second floor of the house. Vinyl crawled into his bed and looked at Stella, who was looking back at him with a small smile on her face.

She looked away shyly “c-can I sleep with you tonight?” she said in a soft tone.

Vinyl’s eyes widened, she had always slept in her own room here, and she never slept with him before. “Yeah, sure you can, you always are welcome to” he said, his face turning a bright shade of red.

“Ok, I just get so lonely sleeping all by myself all the time” She said as he slid over in his bed to make room for her. She slipped into his bed and rested her head on his shoulder. She turned her head and looked up into his deep crimson eyes.

He looked down at her, pure love filling every part of his body. This is what it truly felt to be in love. He leaned down and kissed her on her forehead.

“I love you” he said softly into her ear.

“I love you too” she said back to him.

They lay there for a while, Vinyl resting his head on Stella’s. Stella fell asleep first, nuzzling closer into him as she drifted off into sleep. He lay there looking at her and smiling, he would always love her. She was his better half, something that he has wanted for a long time. He kissed her lightly on the forehead one last time and then snuggled in closer to her as well; he drifted off into a peaceful sleep smelling the aroma of her mane.

It was the one year anniversary of Vinyl meeting his girlfriend Stella. Vinyl has made today the day that he was going to propose to her.

It was a bright sunny day in Ponyville; everyone was outside enjoying the day. Vinyl was even outside, not wanting to be cooped up in the club all day; he closed it until 6pm tonight. He sat in the sun, the rays practically reflecting off of his shining white coat. His electric blue mane swayed in the light breeze that blew calmly through the air. Stella sat next to him, resting her head lightly on his shoulder.

Vinyl had a lot going through his mind right now. He had to think on what he was going to do about proposing to her. Where were they going to do it at? When? What would she think? All of these questions and more swirled through his mind.

“Hey Vinyl, do you want to take a walk? My body is getting sore from sitting and I wanted to know if you wanted to take a walk on the trail that leads through the forest” Stella said as she got up and stretched her legs.

“Sure I would, I need to take a little walk, and I’m getting sore too” the white unicorn said as he got up.

They walked side by side on the trail that led into the small forest on the outskirts of Ponyville. Vinyl had gotten it; he was going to do it while they were walking through the forest. He smiled to himself and Stella saw him do it.

“What’s that smile for?” she said looking at him with a quizzical look on her face, but smiling as well.

“Oh, nothing” Vinyl said to her, trying not to spoil the surprise.

They walked through the trees, talking about all of the fun things that they did before they met each other. Stella always found it hard not to laugh at some of Vinyl’s drunken pony stories from the club. They both were having a good time walking through the woods enjoying the nice day.

Vinyl stopped in a clearing. This was where he was going to do it. This was the spot that he had always come to when he wanted to calm down and feel at ease. The trees were alive with vibrant colors and the grass was always soft under his hooves. He wanted this to be where he did it.

Stella walked a little ways ahead of the DJ pony and stopped, turning her head around to see him staring at her, his bright red eyes alive and glowing. “Why did you stop?” She asked.

Vinyl walked to a fallen tree and sat down in front of it “Come here, I want to talk to you.”

Stella walked over to where he was sitting and sat next to him. She had no idea what was going on. ‘Maybe he needs to take a break’ she thought in her mind as she looked at him.

“Stella, the last year we spent together was the best time of my entire life. Every moment I spent with you was the highlight of my day” he began.

Stella looked at him; she was starting to get an idea of what he might be doing. She smiled and tears started to form in her eyes.

“Stella, I love you. I have loved you from the moment I first laid my eyes on you. You are the most beautiful mare that I have ever had the joy of being close to.” He continued, tears starting to fall down his cheeks and land in the grass below.

“I will always love you, no matter what. I will always protect you from harm’s way, even if it means me having to get hurt to do so. You are my better half Stella, I want you to know that” he went on.

Stella was crying now, like she did when he played that song for her. She was smiling at him and looking at his bright crimson eyes through her tear soaked ones.

“Stella, you complete me. If I ever lost you, it would be like living in a world with no sunlight” he said to her. All of the things that he was saying to her were true. This is how he felt about her, and she knows that.

“Stella……will you marry me?” he concluded, tears still sliding down his face.

Stella looked at him in complete bewilderment. He had just asked her if she wanted to marry him! She continued to look at him and his face turned a dark shade of red. The grey mare didn’t even have to think of the answer. She got up and jumped over to him and hugged him tightly.

“YES, yes I will marry you” She said burying her face in his chest, crying openly now.

Vinyl let her calm down. “I want you to know that all of those things I said were true to my heart. I love you more than anything in this world Stella and I want you to always remember that” he said poking her in the chest with his hoof.

She smiled at him and nodded “I know you do.”

Then Vinyl reached around Stella’s neck and leaned in and kissed her. They sat there and kissed for a moment before they pulled away from each other and sat there. Stella was still in Vinyl’s arms, she felt safe when she was in them, like a safety blanket was wrapped around her to protect her from all of the nasty things in life. He kissed her on the forehead and then rested his head on hers.

“What do we do now?” Stella asked looking up at him.

Vinyl looked down and gave her the playful smile that she knew and loved. “Now, we live life the way WE want…as a family” he said as he got up, grabbed her hoof and ran with her into the trees.

The feelings they shared were now bound together as they lived their lives knowing that their better half was standing side by side with them, sharing the love that they felt towards one another.

A/N: This is just a note to tell you that I may decide to add more to this later. Perhaps more chapters or a sequel all together. Tell me what you think I should do, I will gladly take all options into account. Just for the first idea though, I thought about maybe some more chapters later, with the new family having a child.
