Prologue

Rainbow Dash sighed as she flew slowly through the clouds, her back on top of the fluffy, cotton candy-like texture, her wings beating at a steady pace. She did a back-stroke motion, as if she were swimming. She looked up at the blue, blue sky that Celestia was able to conjure up so easily with her magic. Rainbow Dash sighed once again, not caring that she had sighed twice in the same minute. She didn't know that there could be such a thing as a perfect morning. However, her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a masculine voice calling her name. It sounded like Spike.

Rainbow rolled her eyes in frustration, hating it when somepony (er... some DRAGON in this case...) interrupted her flying. She rolled over, laying on the cloud on her stomach, facing the little baby dragon, who she had to admit was really adorably with his little short, chubby body.

"What is it, Spike?" She asked in her slightly-scratchy voice with more attitude than she intended.

"Twilight wants to see you!" He called, urgently. "And the others, too!" Rainbow groaned in her head as she flapped her wings and zoomed through the cloud, down beside the waiting dragon.

"What could possibly be so important that it has to interrupt my FLYING?" Rainbow Dash asked, annoyed as she positioned her mane on her face the exact way that made her look wicked-cool. They walked through central Ponyville with Spike on Rainbow's back as they talked.

"Well, Twilight learned a really cool new spell, and she thinks that everypony will be impressed with it!" He boasted. Rainbow scoffed.

"And this needed to interrupt my cloud-swimming because....?" Rainbow asked, as if there was more to the story. Spike stumbled upon words until they ere interrupted with a familiar pink, poofy mare.

"Oh my gosh! Hey Dashie!" Said Pinkie in her energetic voice that always made Rainbow want to get up and do something... energetic.

"Oh, hey Pinkie Pie." Rainbow replied. "What's up?"

"I'm going to go get some more sugar and flour, because Sugar Cube Corner is all out of Flour and if we're all out of Flour we can't make cupcakes and if we can't make cupcakes..." Pinkie stopped her own sentence and bit her lower lip nervously, her eye pupils shrinking to the size of pins. Rainbow stopped and watched her fall to the dirt road, covering her head in anguish. "Oooh, I can't even IMAGINE a world so terrible without cupcakes!!" She moaned. She then quicly got up and started walking with Rainbow once more, who was now trying to hide her giggles. "Where are YOU off to?

"We're going back to the library. Twilight's got a new trick!" Spike boasted. Again. Pinkie did her out-of-the-ordinary gasp that she always did while hovering in mid-air.

"Oh my gosh, so am I!!" She squealed. Rainbow and Spike looked at each other, confused.

"Wait, didn't you just say you were off to get more flour?" Rainbow asked Pinkie in surprise.

"Why would I do that?" Pinkie giggle-snorted. "We've got PLENTY of flour!" Pinkie giggled as she trottd ahead of Rainbow, who had stopped dead in her tracks, sharing a confused look with Spike. Rainbow raised an eyebrow at Spike. who shrugged in response, and just continued trotting forward.

When they arrived at the library, everypony was already gathered in the main room, all except for a certain lavendar-coated mare who started this entire gig in the first place. Rainbow trotted over to the circle of talking ponies to join them in the conversation.

"Well I, for one, find fashion very suitable for a date, if one were to GET date." Rarity said, obviously annoyed. Rainbow looked from pony to pony, discovering that there was an argument going on.

"Well ah don't NEED no date! Ah'mm fine with the way things er goin'!" Applejack responded in her southern twang. Rainbow and the others didn't dare say a word until it was necessary to break up the argument. "Besides, Ah don't got time for no datin'! Applebuck season's over, and we gotta git our apples tuh gether so we can start sellin' before the pegasi start bringin' in the winter!" Applejack turn to Rainbow for approval. Rainbow paused and put her hoof to her chin, in thought.

"Actually, I think we bring in snow next Tuesday." Rainbow replied slowly. Applejack's pupils shrank to the size of pins as she gasped.

"We better get crackin' then!" She practically cried. "Twi, can we speed this up? Ah gotta git home so ah can help out mah family!" Just then, hoof steps filled the room and all the ponies turned to see Twilight Sparkle walking out of another room, where they assumed she'd been studying. Twilight was levitating a book using a levitation spell with her horn, reading a few words before closing it once more.

"Okay, I've got it memorized." Twilight said, trotting over to the circle of friends. "Thank you all for coming!" She smiled. The other ponies nodded and said other responses such as "no problem!" and "of course!".

"So, what kind of spell is this, exactly?" Rainbow Dash asked, messing with her mane.

"I've discovered a very powerful spell that not even TRIXIE could accomplish!" Twilight replied. The other ponies looked at each other, confused.

"Um, I don't mean to sound rude... but, um... it's not really saying much..." Fluttershy said in her soft, tender voice. The other ponies snickered at Fluttershy's words, and even Fluttershy giggled a little. Twilight rolled her eyes playfully and held up her hoof as if to say "quiet down, please".

"Anyway, it's a spell that allows creatures from a different dimension to enter our world!" Twilight said, her eyes twinkling from anticipation. The other ponies made excited murmurs to each other, until they all realized they had no clue what she was talking about.

"What a dimension?" Fluttershy asked. The others nodded in agreement. Twilight did a mental face-hoof. She sometimes hated being what others referred to as "a genius".

"It's similar to a different world, a place that you couldn't travel to by hot air balloon or by carriage." Twilight pressed, trying not to add a snarky tone.

Rainbow leapt into the air, doing a front flip with assistance form her wings.

"Let's do it!" She cried, excitedly. The others cheered in agreement. Twilight held up her hoof once more.

"Wait! I forgot to tell you all;" She quickly added. "This spell is very powerful, because however many ponies join in the spell, that many will appear before us and live in our world for what is in their world, one year.

"So, how long is that here?" Rarity asked. Twilight put her hoof to her chin, thinking.

"I think roughly a few days? Maybe?" Twilight replied, even questioning herself. "I don't know exactly, but it sounds like form what the spell tells me that it would be roughly a few days." Twilight said again, slightly more solid with her knowledge. "Now for this spell to work, we need to stand in a circle with me in the center for it to work." Twilight pressed.

The ponies shifted themselves so they were all in a perfect circle, with Twilight standing squarely in the middle.

"Everypony ready?" Twilight asked, lighting up her horn. The others nodded.

Twilight closed her eyes, and everypony else did as well, all simultaneously. A wind seemed to blow in a circle, almost similar to a twister. The ponies' manes and tails blew in the harsh wind, their eyes still tightly closed, focusing on their friend's magic spell.

Twilight could feel her head starting to hurt from the magic, and she focused even harder, knowing that if she allowed herself to give up, the spell would never work. She could feel her horn spurting out light, and felt her starting to lift off of the floor. The other ponies noticed this as well, and it startled them at first, but went back to focusing on their friend's spell. Twilight could feel their concentration, even though it still was slightly difficult. She whispered the words in her mind. Whispered the name of the spell, and thought of the creatures that she would get to meet. It excited her, and suddenly, a huge ball of light surrounded the friends, and they all hovered inside a bright, white bubble of lavender-colored light. Each pony shimmered and sparkled, their bodies and manes covered in a glitter, the magic spell finding out how many ponies exactly were there. At least Twilight thought that was what was happening.

All of a sudden, each pony felt an exhilarating feeling, like something just happened that they had been anticipating for years. Each pony felt jittery and excited as the bubble shrank a little, then burst out, creating a large explosion. The powerful magic's explosion lasted for about five seconds. That's all anypony remembered of that moment, because they all blacked out directly afterwards. Next Chapter: II Estimated time remaining: 5 Minutes
