Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Spike! You idiot!" Twilight Sparkle screamed at her little dragon, staring at the broken pot on the floor. "How could you even do such a terrible thing?"

"Geez, Twi, what the hay is so important about just a little vase?" Spike replied calmly.

"Just a little vase? Are you bucking kidding me? This vase contained a powerful magical secret! Princess Celestia herself sent it to me! And you just broke it!"

Twilight had a very powerful temper.

"Oh, Twilight, I'm really sorry. I had no idea it was an important vase," said Spike, even though he felt not one bit of the sorrow he preached.

"Well, Spike, I guess it's okay. I'll just send a message to the princess sometime. I'll be sure to mention you, kay?" Twilight asks, a tiny edge in her voice.

"Twilight, why don't you just read a book?" Spike asked soothingly. Twilight did love to read books, almost as much as she loved magic. "Hey, I've got just the thing over here..."

Spike ran over to the shelves of Twilight's extensive library, jumping on the mobile ladder.

"Let's see...it was over here somewhere...yeah, here it is!" Spike exclaimed triumphantly, holding up a blue-covered book.

Twilight's large horn lit up, snatching the book over to her with her telekinesis.

"Predictions and Prophecies?" Twilight asked suspiciously, pushing the book away from her and onto a small table in the corner "Gee, Spike, I don't know. It seems like a fine book and all, but I read this back in kindergarten. Plus, it has myths and legends, not facts and important information!"

"Twilight, please. Just give it a try. Come on, it's really good!" Spike coaxed, pushing the book towards Twilight.

"No, Spike. It's way too simple," Twilight persisted. "And anyway, why do you want me to read it so badly?"

"Well..." the amethyst dragon stalled. "The thing is, there's something in there that's really important!"

"Important? In this little foal's book? Please, Spike. You've made up pretty unbelievable stories in the past, but this is just...ludicrous. Now just leave me alone, will you?" Twilight demanded angrily.

"Please, Twi. I promise you, it's really important!" begged Spike.

"For the last time, Spike, I said NO!" Twilight yelled, using her magic to teleport herself away from the demanding drake.

For the past couple of weeks, Twilight had noticed that Spike's wings had been growing in, finally. Now she heard the sound of him desperately flapping the leathery appendages
