A Strange Corridor

Luna was wandering around the castle.

Since she returned from the moon, the princess of the night have never visited the whole Canterlot castle once. She was unable to move freely around during daytime due to the strong isolation brought by her dear big sister, and always got interrupted by the passionate royal guards at night.

Fortunately, today was the royal guard's day off. Only important members like Shining Armor were stayed in the castle. The castle was almost cleared, even the guards who were on station at fixed posts all went holiday.

This is a good chance for her to completely take a look of the old-familiar castle. Seriously, Luna had never really investigated this gigantic castle before. She often had been staying in a few sections of it, before the incident of the Nightmare Moon. Well, forget about those miserable memories, right after Luna is officially and physically back and returned from the moon, she often only appears in public activities and governmental discussions, seldom have her own free times, since manypony still cannot fully remove the horrible figure of her once became Nightmare Moon.

So, to maintain social stable, she chosen to stay indoors most of the time. Slowly as the time she spent in the castle accumulates, she started to gain interest to it. She had tried many times wanting to take a look around, but either her big sister is bounded with various important and urgent issues, or there's way too much prohibited rooms and sections that are private and will not open to the others, even the pony who want to access was one of the rulers of Equestria.

And so, the only time available for Luna to go around, is late at the midnight, where she was often awake and her sisters were asleep. Seldom there are a few special days just like today in which the defense and security of the castle will be greatly lowered due to the large scale absence of guards.

Luna walked through new corridors that she had never been to. They often bring unexpected surprises to her, whether they're good...or bad.

The princess keep on walking and walking, and got her eyes caught by a notice. No, much more like a warning, in a white and yellow color scheme, writing "SCP-173', 'Subject Class: Euclid' with two photos: One in the typical warning sign format, with the logo of an eye on a brain, and two black fists under it. Under this sign it also says, SENTIENT AND VIOLENT. Beside the warning sign, is a black and white photo showing a humanoid figure with a vaguely sprayed face, leaning against a wall.

'173? .....What is it?"

Luna spoke quietly, the looked aside, there is a giant double-gated metal door, about two meters tall. The door is brown in color, covered in rust and ......dried blood?

Speaking of blood, this area was locked up with metal bars who got stained with blood. Luna just used her magic to unlock the gate and get through the bars, to here. There are a lot of windows in this section, seemed like making sure this place is an open area.

Luna was still standing in front of the gates, searching through her gaming memories and try to recognize what 173 really is.

"173....173...hmm, this name sounded so familiar. I remembered that once in a downloaded free game I encountered it....Yes downloadable content...but which game? Ao Oni? Cry of Fear...? The Witch's house..?"

She kept on thinking, when suddenly a piece of paper who was originally lying on the window was blown off by wind, catching Luna's attention.

Luna picked up the sheet. The big title on top says it all, 'SCP Foundation - Secure, Contain, Protect.'

"SCP Foundation....? Wait, this scene...."

Yes, it's just like picking up a note from the shelves or the floor in the game, SCP-Containment Breach.

'....YES! I remembered it. SCP-Containment breach! That game scares me a lot...."

And the following things happened, is even more several times horrifying than the game. Luna continued to read along the sheet of paper.

The reading stops at here, as the creaking sound of the gate scares Luna.

She stared at the slowly opening door, while shooting up from the wall she just leaned against onto. There's actually a red button on the wall, which was accidently pressed down by her.

The gate took a minute to be fully opened. When the first gate was opened, the second gate inside also follows and slowly creeped by both sides. Again, after a minute it was opened, then for the last gate hidden deep inside. Unlike those Luna seen at first, this gate looked new, determined from its shiny appearance; Also it seemed to be the heaviest among them all, as it took almost three minutes to be opened. When it's done, the thickness of the door shows it all. It's almost 60cm thick, and the cross-section showed its complicated locking mechanism.

All these awesome gadgets are getting Luna greatly attracted, or in other words, luring her into a horrible experience.

Controlled by the strong, un-resistable curiousity, Luna slowly walked into the chamber. Yes, a chamber, as mentioned on the piece of paper, much like a report or something. Inside the chamber, was an absolute silence. Lights were still on inside, under the tungsten lightbulbs were the chamber full of scraping marks, blood and rust. The main character was not here, fortunately.

Luna went into the deepest part of the room. It was a rectangular room with the dimensions of 6m x 12m, built with concrete and have nothing special inside except a survillance camera.

She then started to recall her gaming memories again.

"The game starts with a class-D experiencing a containment breach which first originates from the power failure to seal the container of SCP-173, then it escapes containment and ruined the whole facility. Odd, this container have all the characteristic of 173's container, but completely different in design..."

Luna said, looking at the dried reddish substance on the floor and all those scraping marks around the walls and the floor.

All of a sudden, a series of loud bumping and scrapping sounds of stone with a hard surface, the lights went out in a flash. Then, the bulbs exploded.

A power failure happened. Next Chapter: A strange sculpture Estimated time remaining: 3 Minutes
