"Reports just coming in from Appleloosa. Armies of the Griffon Empire have attacked."

"Regiment of Royal Guard have been decimated."

"Three thousand are dead with many more wounded."

"Emperor Claws Von Griffon has invaded the city of Appleloosa and declared a state of war upon Equestria.

"One thing is clear, Equestria is at war."

"A draft has been passed, all able bodied stallions from ages 18 to 45 are being called into service."

"Rations on food and other supplies are now being implemented."

"Hospitals are being overrun by wounded soldiers." A pony turned off the radio, tired of hearing bad news. He adjusted the beret on his head and walked over to his monarch.

"Your highness, we need super soldiers now."

For a thousand years, Princess Celestia had managed to keep harmony and peace throughout the pony kingdom of Equestria. But all good things must come to an end. The griffons had grown jealous of the ponies prosperity and wealth and began to attack them. Celestia tried to reason with the Griffons but they began attacking cites and killing ponies. Thus the Equestrian Military was formed. All stallions of age were drafted along with some mares who worked as nurses and intelligence officers.

Many give credit to the pegasi for the flight capabilities and the unicorns for their magic but of all the types of ponies, the earth ponies were known for their brute strength. It is said one earth pony had the strength of three unicorn of pegasi. Much of the victories on the battlefield were not from the unicorns magic or pegasi wings, it was from the strength and valor of the earth ponies.

The griffons were numerically, technologically, and in some cases, physically superior to the ponies. In response to the growing amount of surprise attacks on pony settlements, Princess Luna commissioned a special force group: Covert Operation and Lethal Takedown Squad or C.O.L.T.S. Super Soldier Program.The group was meant to create magically enhanced supersoldier commandos who would go on stealth missions. Unicorn magic could be detected and pegasi did not meet the physical requirements so only earth pony stallions were allowed into the group. This is the story of a C.O.L.T.S operative.
