Epilogue: The Legacy

A patrol of Seaddle police spotted the bodies of Nightwalker and the others shortly after the Midnight Crusaders left. The police checked the bodies and came to a conclusion that they were killed in some sort of fight. The police then searched the area for any evidence. They found none. "Go back to the station and take a letter to Celestia about this" the lead officer said. The lead patrol pony then looked back at the victims "I sure would not have wanted to be in this fight." The patrol gathered the bodies and took them with them back to the station. When they got there Celestia was already waiting for them. "This is terrible, one year ago we had a mass murder, and this year we have one missing pony, and four dead ones" she said shaking her head. "Should we take the bodies to the cemetery?" said the lead patrol officer. "yes, that would be best; I am going to start reinforcing all of the city’s police forces with two royal guards each from Canterlot; we cannot have any more incidents like this one" Celestia said staring at the body of Nightwalker. "That is all, you are dismissed" she said finally. The patrol took the bodies out of the station and to the cemetery down the road. They set the bodies down on the ground and dug four graves. They lowered the bodies into the graves and then filled them. They left the graves and walked back to the station.

Nightwalker was awakened by a hoof prodding him in his side. "Huh…" Nightwalker said as he started to move to a sitting position. He looked in front of him and saw Pinky Pie smiling at him. "Pinky?" was all Nightwalker could muster his mouth to say. Pinky smiled wider "Hi, welcome home!" Nightwalker smiled back at Pinky and ran up and hugged her. "I missed you so much, everything slipped away from me; I wasn't myself when you were..." his voice trailed off.” Well, you don't have to worry about that ever again, your back with the ponies that care about you, that's all that matters" Pinky said. "Wait, where are my friends?" Nightwalker asked. "They are over there, under that tree" Pinky Pie said pointing over to a tree with three ponies lying under it. Nightwalker walked over to them and started to prod each of them awake. "Leave me alone...five more minutes" Swiftbeat said grumpily. They all got to their hoofs and started to look around "where are we? This doesn't look like the alleyway" Darkwind said with confusion. "We’re dead… the Midnight Crusaders wiped us out; this is my old master Pinky Pie by the way" Nightwalker said pointing to the now smiling pink mare. "Wait, we are all dead? That can't be possible" Brightwing said in shock and disbelief. "Well, we are; but at least we still have each other" Nightwalker said looking at all of the ponies around him. "I remember her; she was the pony that got hung for the murder of twelve ponies........and if you were being trained by her..." Swiftbeat said, his voice trailing off in shock. Nightwalker sighed "you all have a right to know, it doesn't matter anyhow now; yes, I was Pinky's apprentice once, I helped her with her trade, which soon became our trade; when Pinky died I swore that I would continue her work, and I kept my promise; I murdered six ponies in Ponyville before we had to leave, not feeling any regret for doing so; when we moved here I thought it would be different, but when I killed Moonbeam that all ended, I knew that was going to be where my journey ended; I came to accept it, that's why I was telling you to leave that night, I didn't want you dying with me because of my life choices" Nightwalker said looking away from them. "We don't care what you do, we are a group, we do everything together; we wouldn't have let you go and die alone even if you tried to force us, we're a family, in life and death, nothing will ever change that" Brightwing said smiling, the others did as well. Nightwalker smiled, grateful for the fact that they were all together again. The group of five ponies began walking back to their new home, a walled off area on the outskirts of Ponyville for all of the ponies that don't deserve to be with the others. Nightwalker continued to smile, he didn't care that he had to live in a walled part of town, he was just happy that he was back with the one thing he couldn't ever lose.......his family.

“If you live with regret you're weak, if you live without it you're a monster; I lived without it, I lost it when I was a young child, but I carried on with my life and paid no attention to anypony that feared me; for I will always know that even if everypony else feels that way towards me, I will always have my family that loves me.”
