CH.1 Finding Yourself

It has been a little over a year since the execution of Pinky Pie, everypony has returned to their normal everyday lives. All of them except one. Nightwalker was walking down the crowded streets of Ponyville, looking at all the happy ponies that were enjoying the nice day. He walked past the memorial that the town had erected in the memory of the ponies that were murdered. He didn’t even look at it. He just kept walking. A young colt ran into him as he was walking. Nightwalker looked down at the pony, his eyes fixed on the younger pony’s. The young pony just stared back at Nightwalker, fear running through his eyes. “Go on” Nightwalker said to the little colt. The colt nodded and ran off down the road. Nightwalker then continued to walk down the road. He went to the outskirts of Ponyville, to the old sycamore tree that Pinky was buried under. He walked up to the edge of the grave, which was now covered in grass and colorful flowers. “I still miss you; you were the think that brought a smile to my face, now that you’re gone, I don’t have any reason to smile” he said to the grave. The wind picked up, making his mane fly back. “I don’t want to stay in Ponyville anymore, the faces all disgust me here now, I am going to move to Seaddle with my friends soon, I will come and visit you every three months” he said to Pinky’s grave. “I will continue our work there, where it will be a clean start” Nightwalker said. He turned around and walked back toward Ponyville, crying as he walked. Nightwalker felt that it was as if his heart was ripped out from within him, leaving behind nothing but emptiness. He walked back to Sugar Cube Corner. He walked in through the front door and went into his room. He looked at himself in the mirror. He had gotten taller and had filled out more. But he still did not have a cutie mark. Well, I am still a little young, he thought to himself. He turned around from the mirror. He had to get ready to go, his friends are leaving for Seaddle tonight and he had to be ready. He got a knapsack out from under his bed and started to pack. He walked over to a table and grabbed a picture of Pinky Pie and put it in the bag. He reached under his bed and pulled out his outfit for when he worked on his assistants. He put it on the bed. He had painted it red with the blood of his first assistant. The sun’s rays landed on the outfit, making it shine bright crimson. He lifted it up and a piece of paper fell out of it. He put the outfit in the knapsack and picked up the paper. It was a note written in pink.

Dear Nightwalker,

If you are reading this than you know what has happened to me. I did not get to say goodbye to you, but ill fix that now. I have watched you over the two years that you worked with me and I couldn’t be happier with you. You show true skill when you work with your assistants. I watched you when you were working on your first and was elated to see the creativity that you have. I have repeated myself so many times when I say this I am sick of it, but I am so proud of you, you have matured so much faster than any young colt I ever seen before. You are truly something to behold. When my time comes, and I must leave you, do not lose hope in yourself. I will always watch over you, always. So look up to the stars if you want to see me.

Sincerely, Pinky Pie

Nightwalker stood in the center of his room and cried; tears falling down his face and onto the paper. He looked up “I miss you so much Pinky, I loved you and they took you away from me.” He looked down at the note again. He smiled something that he has not done in a long time. “I will continue your work in Seaddle, and when everyone completely forgets about me here I’ll come back and give all of the ponies that hurt you what’s coming to them” he said aloud, hoping that Pinky could hear him. He finished getting his knapsack ready and left Sugar Cube Corner for the last time. He walked over to his three friend’s house so he could start his new life in Seaddle.

When Nightwalker arrived in Seaddle everything was different, there were massive buildings like in Manehatten all around him. He already had a place that he could stay, a small condo on the outskirts of the city. His friends Brightwing, Darkwind, and Swiftbeat are going to be staying in an apartment on the tenth floor of an apartment building a few blocks down from him. He said goodbye to his friends and went into his new home. The house was already furnished like he wanted it. He walked to his new room and set his bag on his bed. He took out his outfit and hung it up in his closet. He then took out his picture of Pinky Pie and the note he had found recently. He opened the back of the picture frame and put the note inside with all of the other notes he got from her. He closed the picture frame and put the picture on the table next to his bed. “I wish you were here with me” he said to the picture. He walked over to his window in his room and looked out. The sun was just starting to set; “well maybe I’ll go see if there’s any nightlife here in Seaddle” he said aloud. He walked out of his room and down the stairs. He had one last thing he needed to check before he left. He walked into the basement and looked around. He saw a metal operating table in the center of the room. All of the fixtures for when he had helpers were there. Good she gave it to me. He set a bag with all of the tools that he used at Sugar Cube Corner down next to the table. He walked back upstairs and left his house and walked down the street. He passed a lot of coffee shops and social spots while he walked. He stopped in front of this one building called The Mane Drag. He could hear music coming out of the building’s doors. “This looks promising” he said as he walked through the doors. Inside there were strobe lights shining off every corner of the ceiling. There was a huge dance floor in the center of the room with at least fifty ponies dancing on it. He looked up and saw a huge circular podium hanging from the ceiling with speakers coming off of it. A dj was up in the podium. Bright neon lights hung up behind him. The neon sign read Dj QuikBeatz. “Wow, this is a lot more pumped up than the club in Ponyville; Swiftbeat might die if he came in here” Nightwalker said to himself. Just then a small dark blue colt bumped into him “Hey, watch where you’re going.” Nightwalker just stood there and stared at the small pony, who was glaring angrily back at him. “You’re lucky I don’t lay you out on the floor right here” The small colt said to Nightwalker. “Say, what’s your name?” Nightwalker said to him a hint of joy coming to his voice. “Moonbeam, what’s it to you?” he replied defensively. “Oh, I just wanted to know it for if we meet later in the future” Nightwalker replied as he bumped past the small pony. He left the club and walked back towards his house. “Well’ I’ve only been here a day and I have already found my next assistant” he said as he walked. A sudden smile appeared across his face. “Soon, Seaddle will know what this little pony is made out of, because I’m back and even better than before!” Nightwalker said as he walked up to his door. He opened the door and walked in. He walked back down to the basement and over to his bag of tools. He reached in and pulled out a bottle of green liquid and a rag. “Moonbeam your time will soon be up; I would never have chosen you if you weren’t badmouthing me; that is one thing I can’t stand, badmouths” Nightwalker said to himself happily. He looked up to the ceiling, “Pinky, thank you for the letter, it really straightened me out and brought me back on track.” He set the bottle and rag aside. He took the bag over to a sink on the wall and dumped the tools into it. He plugged the drain and turned the water on. He got out the sterilizing soap and poured some into the sink full of water. “We can’t let our guest get an infection after the show starts, now can we?” Nightwalker said to himself joyfully. He started to hum the lullaby that Pinky Pie had taught him as he walked up the basement stairs. He walked up to his room and lay on his bed. “Well Moonbeam, tomorrow you’re in for a big surprise” he said as he stared at the ceiling. He closed his eyes and drifted off into sleep.

When nightwalker woke up it was still dark out. He heard a noise coming from downstairs, like hooves walking across the floor. Nightwalker quietly got up and walked toward the door. He opened it as quietly as possible. He walked to the edge of the stairs and looked down. He saw a figure walk past the doorway. Oh so someone wants to do a little breaking and entering, well they aren’t getting out of my house without a fight, Nightwalker said to himself. He quietly walked down the stairs and looked through the doorway. There was a small pony on the other side of the room, looking at the objects on the shelves. Nightwalker then realized by the size and color it was the same pony that bumped into him earlier. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t my friend Moonbeam; if I knew you wanted to see me again so soon I would have come and got you sooner” Nightwalker chided to the figure on the other side of the room. Moonbeam turned around “You live here, WOW, I would never have thought that a dirt poor pony like you could live in a house like this; well, I’ll give you two options; one, you leave this house and let me rob this place for some quick cash; or two, I’ll kill you and then rob this place” “take your pick” Moonbeam said jokingly to Nightwalker. “I’ll go with two” Nightwalker said to the small pony. “Ooh, great choice, I’ll make sure it’s painless for you” Moonbeam said with pleasure in his voice. Moonbeam ran over to Nightwalker and lunged a hoof out at his cheek. Nightwalker took the blow and did not flinch. “Here, let me show you how it’s done” Nightwalker said to Moonbeam, blood oozing out of the corner of his mouth. Before Moonbeam could move Nightwalker was in front of him, he swung a hoof out at Moonbeam and connected with his jawbone. Moonbeam fell backwards onto the floor. “What, did that hurt a little too much?” “Well, maybe this will make that pain go away” Nightwalker said as he grabbed Moonbeam’s left leg. Nightwalker lifted it up off the ground and stomped on where Moonbeam’s kneecap was, shattering the bone and dislocating the lower half of his leg. “There, that will make the pain in your mouth go away” Nightwalker said as he looked at the small pony on the ground. Moonbeam started crying “leave me alone, I’ll go away and never come back, just let me go.” “You should have never come here in the first place, it’s too late, and you’re going to help me now” Nightwalker said smiling at Moonbeam. Nightwalker hefted Moonbeam up onto his back and started toward the basement door. He took Moonbeam down and strapped him into the bindings on the table. “What are you going to do with me?” Moonbeam said hysteria building in his voice. “Oh, I’m not going to do anything now, I’m going back upstairs and get a little more sleep” Nightwalker replied. With that Nightwalker walked over to the basement door and shut it, leaving his friend to wait till morning. Nightwalker walked back up to his room and lay back down in his bed. “We’ll now at least I don’t have to go and get him, he’s already here!” He said.
