Why Did You Change...?

Chapter 2: Together Forever...?

Together Forever...?

I bite my lip as Rainbow Dash and Applejack bombard me with questions. I can answer them all with three words, but I don't want to yell at my friends. However, as they continue to prod me physically and verbally, I can't take the question they're asking over and over anymore.

"I don't know!" I finally screech, making my two friends stop speaking.

"Well, gosh, Pinkie. We were just asking why you always seem like you had an argument with Fluttershy before...you know..." Rainbow Dash muttered.

"Yeah! Y'all didn't hafta snap at us." Applejack frowned. "We figured ya would know!"

"Well, I don't!" I snap. My mane hangs in my face. It's losing it's poof, but I don't care. "Now leave me alone!

"Okay, okay....come on, Jackie." Rainbow Dash smiles weakly at Applejack, using her pet name for the farm pony. "Let's go."

"Right behind ya, Dasher." Applejack replies as they begin to walk off. I scowl. It's not like I'm angry that my friends found love. I'm angry because no one will leave me alone. I run between two random houses, and hide in the bushes. I burst into tears.

It all started so many months ago....

"Hey, Pinkie Pie!" Fluttershy greeted me in her usual quiet voice.

"Hey, Flutters." I smile affectionately. I've learned to control my hyper temper around Fluttershy.

"Hey, I can't find Angel anywhere. Did he and Gummy have another sleepover?" Fluttershy moved one of her hooves around in circles, showing she was nervous about asking.

"No. Gummy always asks me! Are you suggesting I stole your rabbit?" I tilted my head.

"I never said anything like that, Pinkie!" Fluttershy frowned. "Are you saying I would accuse you of stealing Angel?"

"You just did! Shouldn't you be out looking for him, anyways?!" I hissed. "It's not my fault if Gummy forgot to ask me! I bet your rabbit just wandered off or something!"

"Did you just say 'your rabbit'? Angel is not just a rabbit!" Fluttershy raised her voice, something she very rarely did.

"I didn't mean it like that!" It was my turn to look upset.

"Too bad!" Fluttershy growled. "How would you feel if I called Gummy 'just a crocodile'?"

"He's an alligator! I can't even believe that you've been able to stay standing in this conversation so far, Fluttershy! Or should I say..."

"Don't say it!" the buttercream mare's angry expression turned to fear.

"...Fluttercry." I spat Fluttershy's fillyhood nickname as if I had just eaten a pretzel covered in salt. "That's all you are, Fluttercry! A goddamn crybaby!"

Tears came into Fluttershy's eyes. She looked beyond shocked. She looked....betrayed. Without saying another word, she shoved me out of my bedroom with extreme force. Once I had been shoved out, the door slammed and I heard a 'click'. I tried to open the door, but to no avail. Fluttershy had locked me out. I sighed and walked over to the couch. I grabbed a blanket and curled up.

I woke the next morning with a yawn. At first I was confused that I was on the couch, but then the events of last night came rushing back to me. My bedroom door was open. I walked in, planning to give Fluttershy a light kiss on the cheek and whisper 'Sorry', but when I entered the room, Fluttershy wasn't there. I found a note on the bedside table.

"Went out to get some apples from Sweet Apple Acres. Hopefully Applejack is willing to spare a few for free: I'm low on bits. Be back soon. Love, Fluttershy." I read out loud. I tossed the note out with a shrug, and went to read a book. I had the day off from work, so I settled down with 'Little Hoof', a story about a filly who saved thousands of lives.

I closed 'Little Hoof' with a sigh. It had taken me a long time to finish the book. I glanced up at the clock. 5 PM. At first I was not surprised - 'Little Hoof' always took quite some hours to finish. Then I realized Fluttershy wasn't back. I lived at her house because Mr. and Mrs. Cake kicked me out of my room in Sugarcube Corner. Fluttershy and I had decided on whose room was whose quite a while ago.

I sighed. She must have just been held up. She probably found a hurt animal or something, or got caught up in playing with the animals. I shrugged and grabbed another book off the shelf.

I was halfway through 'Optical Illusions' and a quarter through a doughnut when there was a knock on the door. I set the book down and opened the door.

"Hello." I said. Usually, if Fluttershy was not home, I would add 'If you're looking for Fluttershy, she's not home'. But the two stallions before me were police officers.

"Hello. I assume you are Miss Pinkamena Diane Pie, worker at Sugarcube Corner?" the first one glanced at me. He had a lavender coat and had a brown mustache. He was wearing sunglasses.

"Yes." I nodded.

"And you are in a relationship with Miss Fluttershy, animal caretaker?" the second officer, a black stallion with a yellow beard, waved a hoof around.

"Yes." I nodded again. "Why are you asking?"

"Miss Fluttershy was found deep in Everfree Forest, cornered by an angry bear. We were unable to reach her, as there was a bramble barrier and we could not find out how she and the bear got to the area they were in. We were forced to leave, and we heard a cut off shriek as we walked away. Although it is law that a search must go on for at least a month, her survival is beyond slim...we're sorry." the first officer closed the door after speaking.

That was six months ago. I standd in front of Everfree Forest. I know I have to face reality, but I just can't believe Fluttershy is dead. I step into the forest, walking silently and carefully. I notice some squirrels playing with leaves, and smile slightly at their little game. My mane is completely straight, but I still don't care.

My hooves hurt and my head hurts. I'm starving. But there's a huge problem - I'm lost. I sigh, looking around. I have no idea of where I'm going. The leaves on the trees block the sky. Right as I'm about to collapse from exhaustion, I hear a voice.

"No, Mister Squirrel. I don't want to talk about her. Please, I really don't." the voice is soft and kind. I run in the direction, my hunger and sore joints completely forgotten. I know that voice! I burst through a leaf barrier and crash into a clearing. There is an audible gasp from many creatures. I stand up and dust a few leaves off my mane. There are well over twenty animals sitting in the clearing. A bear is holding a crown made of trees and leaves. It's probably held together by tree sap. I think. The bear is about to put the crown on the head of a buttercream mare with soft eyes and a long, pink mane that can only be described as messy. Despite her mane and tail now being a complete and utter mess, I recognize the mare about to be crowned queen of the forest or whatever.

"Fluttershy?!"
