Chapter 4: Making Up

Rarity opened the door of the Carousel Boutique. The sunlight warmed her face and she was greeted by a fresh breeze. She inhaled the fresh air deeply and cleared her mind. She was going to be positive today, regardless of the outcome. She caught the sight of something white in the corner of her eye. Glancing downwards she saw it was a letter. Levitating it with her horn, she brought it to her face and opened it. With a slight crinkle she unfolded the letter and read the words Applejack had written to her. Her eyes widened and started to water, she was overjoyed that Applejack had given her a second chance.

“Oh, thank Celestia! She forgives me. I thought we wouldn’t be friends anymore.” Tears came to Rarity’s eyes, but this time they were of happiness.

Rarity galloped towards her friend’s abode with all haste. The snow crunching under her hooves as she flew down the paths leading up to Sweet Apple Acres. She slowed down as she approached the fence-line and then trotted over to the barn door. She found Applejack organizing stored apples in different boxes. Applejack turned around slowly, lowering herself off the barrel she had just filled with apples. She looked at Rarity and greeted her, looking at her in the eyes.

Rarity initiated the conversation, “I thought we wouldn’t be friends anymore,” She looked down and hoofed at the hay a little before continuing, “I am so grateful to you for reconsidering” Tears started to come to her eyes again.

“Rarity, we’ve already gone through so many problems together, I’d never let something like this get in the way of our friendship sugarcube .” replied Applejack, who was now wiping the tears off Rarity’s cheeks.

“Oh, Applejack...” Rarity was sobbing pretty hard by then, “I’m so blessed to have such good friends.” Rarity started to calm down and Applejack held her until she was ready to move on.

“We should give our friends a holler to let ‘em know it’s good now” Applejack began to walk towards the door.

“Certainly.” replied Rarity.

They told their friends that they both fixed the conflict themselves, and Twilight wrote a letter to Princess Celestia, notifying her that the conflict is fixed, and that they’ve made up.

Dear Princess Celestia,

I would like to inform you, that the conflict between Rarity and Applejack is now solved and that they’ve made up. However, they made up themselves.

     Your Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle.

Spike sent the letter, and the Princess replied with a letter reading,

My Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle,

It is good to hear that the conflict between your two friends is solved. Perhaps you learned something new about friendship through this conflict? I am very proud of you Twilight Sparkle,

you have grown very much since I first took you under my wing as an entrant to my school for gifted unicorns.

-Princess Celestia

Twilight wrote a response letter to Princess Celestia, and that she did learn something from friendship from this conflict.

Your Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle

From the conflict between Rarity and Applejack, I have learned something new about friendship. Often friends don’t see things the same way, sometimes misinterpreting what the other meant. Sometimes one friend feels differently than another, and they don’t agree about an issue. Even though this might be true, friends are able to see past differences and still be friends, regardless of what others think.

Your Faithful Student,

    -Twilight Sparkle

“It’s nice to hear that you two finally made up.” said Twilight Sparkle.

“Applejack said that nothing like that would get in the way of our friendship.” said Rarity.

“That’s good.” replied Twilight

“But I suspect there is something Applejack wants to tell me, but she just can’t.” said Rarity.

“What do you think she wants to tell you?” asked Twilight Sparkle.

“I’m not all that sure what she wants to tell me, yet.” replied Rarity.

Rarity asked Applejack if there was something wrong.

“Is there something wrong, Applejack?” asked Rarity.

“Nah, everything is just fine and dandy, Rarity...” replied Applejack, but at this time, Rarity knew she was lying.

“Applejack, I know you’re lying. Tell me, tell me tell me tell me TELL ME!” said Rarity.

“OK, fine, I'll tell you.” said Applejack.
