chapter 1

You know some of those times when you know that something bad will happen and you have no idea why? Well that's me.

"Well...crap." I say while running into a dead end.

"Ha! We finally cornered you!" A random bully says.

Hold on lets start with the beginning shall we. My name is Ben and I was just your normal sixteen year old sophomore with alot of problems. Mom was kidnapped, I mean taken to a hospital of unknown location.My dad works twelve hours a day and has his own problems. And older brothers but lets not talk about that.

"Listen just because I beat you in a game of chess doesn't mean anything!" I yell out. Yeah that's why im being chased by about four different people.

"You cheated and you know it!" Andrew says. One of my classmates from school who didn't even bother watching the match. He says that he can break someones bones in one punch *cough*bullshit*cough* but he isn't that great at martial arts.

*Sigh* "For the last time, how can you cheat at chess?" I ask the group of helpless bullies.

"Because we said so now your going down." Another kid (which name I forgot.) decided to charge at me with a wild hay maker. Wrong move buddy. I side step and stick my foot out, tripping him and making his face go straight into a wall. The next kid decided to charge at me as well. But found a one way ticket into the wall.

"Idiots." I say under my breath as someone behind me shouted and charged. I ducked his punch and threw my leg back into the kids knee. I spun around and hit him in the chest with my heel. "Still idiots." I sigh out. "So want to see who's better Andrew?" I ask while walking over to him.

"Bring it!" He says while throwing his own kick. I side stepped and grabbed his leg.

"Too..." I start as I force him into the ground. He hit his back and knocked the wind out of him. "Easy." I say while I start to run away again.

"God damn." I say to myself while entering the C store(Convenient store). "Thats the third fight today." I say while walking over towards the pop section. I grab a mountain dew and walk over towards the cashier.

"Hey man the usual?" The man asks

"Yep." I say while pulling out a dollar.

"So whats new?" He asks putting the dollar away.

"Meh nothin." I say while opening the bottle. "Well see ya and have a nice day." I say while walking out the door.

"See ya." The cashier says.

"Sheesh whats been going on lately?" I ask myself while taking a drink. "For the past week its been fight after fight for no reason. I wonder why." I say to myself.

"Maybe I could help." A feminine voice says. I whip my head around to see a girl with silver hair, standard hunters gear and clothes, and a very warm smile.

"What the?" I yelp out while jumping back putting my hands up. "Ok, its either I missed a convention or something weird is about to happen." I say while staring at the hunter girl.

"Why would you say that?" She asks.

"Oh I dont know its either one, your a good cos player of Katness Everdeen but got the hair wrong, or you did your research and wanted to dress up as Artemis, the goddess of the moon and the hunt." I state. "Or maybe your that said goddess and something bad will happen." I say while taking another drink.

"Well your right about me being a goddess." She says while I choke on my drink.

"Wait...WHAT!" I yell out coughing from my drink.

"Its true I am the goddess of the moon and hunt. And im here with a proposition." She says while snapping her fingers. A piece of paper pops up in silvery light.

"Ok where have I seen this before?" I say while looking at the document. "Chess contract? Why does that..." I trail off until I threw my hands into the air. "Of course its like that." I say, a little pissed about what it means.

"What do you mean?" The moon goddess asks, acting oblivious.

"Chess contract would equal the game you gods are having in a version of equestria. But here its just a story so im not completely sure." I say while looking at the girl.

"Well its real. If you want to know more read that and see for yourself." She says with a smile.

"Ok then." I say while I start to read the scroll.

CHESS GAME RULES.

1. THE CHESS PIECE MAY CHOOSE WHAT HE/SHE WOULD LIKE TO BE UNLESS PRE PICKED BY THE GOD/GODESS.

2. IF HE/SHE AGREE'S THE GOD/GODESS CAN PUT THEM ANYWHERE THEY WANT IN ANY SITUATION THEY WANT.

3. ONCE SAID CHESS PIECE IS IN PLAY THE GOD/GODESS CAN HELP THERE PIECE BY EITHER GIVING ADVICE, HELPING IF ANOTHER GOD/GODESS IS INTERFERING WITH SAID CHESS PIECE, AND GIVE SOME MINOR RESORCES IF SAID PINKIE PROMISE MCDONALDS IN ONE SUCH INSIDENT.

I chuckle a little at that.

4. THE CHESS PIECE CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT AS LONG AS IT DOESNT INVOLVE DESTROYING HALF OF EQUESTRIA. THAT WOULD BE BAD.

"Well that seems legit." I say while looking down the scroll. I see a name, species(which was pre picked) and something else but I couldnt make out what it said. "Hmm...meh might as well, besides it feels like im going to be a part of it whether I like it or not." I say while signing my name on the dotted line.

"Thank you, and yes you would have." She says while grabbing the parchment. "Is there anything you would like me to give you before you leave?" She asks while I bring my hand up to my chin in thought. A light bulb clicked.

"How about a translated book on Latin, my mp3 player, or a better music player with new some new head phones,because mine kinda suck. And I think thats about it." I say while shrugging.

"Thats good enough with me. Be careful ok." She says in a little motherly tone.

"Yes mom I'll be safe dont worry." I say to the moon god. "Im ready when you are." I add.

"Good see you later." She says while she snaps her fingers Then I was gone.

I groan out in pain. "Ok lets see now." I think as I try to move. "Ok cant move...not good." I think as I start to,at least, open my eyes. "I knew that something bad was going to happen today." I think as I see im in a small prison cell in the middle of a cave...or at least it looked like it. I try to move my arms put I hear the sudden clanking of chains. "Well that explains that." I think as I hear a sudden *THUMP*. "What the hell." I manage to croak out as I lift my head,which was no small feat mind you, to see a bipedal figure and a four legged figure behind the bars. The bipedal one unlocks the door with some keys, probably from something or another.

"Get up we have to go." The figure who looks now like a diamond dog. He gets the chains off of my wrists and I slump to the ground a bit. "Hurry before guards show up." He says as I stand up with some time.

"Who are you?" I ask as the dog passes me a spear.

'Not important right know we have others to save." He says while rushing towards the door.

"Right." I say while a stand up and follow him. I see that the other figure was a pony, a pegasus to be precise. He,not sure how I know that, had a grey coat with a dark blue main and tail with some hints of white like its thunder moving through clouds."So can I please have names?" I ask again when I get out of the prison.

"Not important now. We have to hurry." The dog says while moving ahead.

"Well unlike our grumpy savior, my name is Thunder Shield." The pony says with a smile.

"Xinrick." I say while moving towards the dog.He holds up a paw for us to stop, I look around and see a guard in front of another cage sleeping. Why do I have a feeling his name is Gordon. I think to my self. Our escort shot a dart into the guard and his chest stopped raising and falling from about thirty seconds or something. Damn I didnt think he would kill him. I think to myself as the dog tosses me the keys.

"You go inside and heal the prisoner. Even for a demon like you,you have to know a healing spell or something." He says while I nod completely missing the 'demon' part.

"Right." I say while I walk over and unlock the cell. I could barley see anything but I could tell that the things been tortured beyond belief. It tries to back away but I bend down on a knee when I got close. "Its ok im not going to hurt you im here to help." I say in a calming voice which helps,kinda. I start to see the person more clearly now and...its a Khajit. Holy crap. Its a she namely due to the fact on clothing, no im not looking at her chest so shush. "I think I can heal you but I need your help here so please dont fight ok." I say to the cat as she relaxes ever so slightly. I dont know how this works but I cut a part of my hand with a sharp rock and drip some blood on her. Hopefully this works like in WOW. I think to myself as I see her bruises and cuts start to vanish bit by bit. "Thank god it works like that." I say while breathing a sigh of relief.

"Thank you." She croaks out as I unlock her chains.

"Ah dont worry about it." I say while holding out a hand. "Do you need any help or can you walk by your self?" I ask as she grabs my hand.

"I think I can walk." She says while she stands up and walks over to the door.

"Ok we have one more and this will be the final one." Our diamond dog escort says while he gives the cat girl a knife.

"I wonder who it will be." I say to my self as we run down some more halls and find a giant wooden door with two guards in front of them.

"Can you get the one on the left? ill get the one on the right." The dog asks the cat while loading his blow dart again.

"Sure." She says while melding into the walls.

Wow cats and dogs working together who knew. I think to myself as I see one dog get his throat slit open and the other had a dart in his neck.

"Ill need some help." The dog says while I step towards the door without thinking. I grab a key and unlock the metal double doors. I see a dark figure with red eyes glare at us both.

I have a feeling that the person is either going to attack us or hug us. I think as both things were true. When the dog unlocked the things chains it punched the dog and hug tackled me. "Uh I think you should have hugged the person who unlocked your chains, not punch him." I say with a little chuckle. When the thing looks up I see that she(yes its a she) was a black dragon. Wow a red eyes black dragon...Joey would be so jealous. I think while she lets go and apologizes to the dog.

"We have to hurry we're ready to leave." The dog says while walking out of the door and tossing me a spear, probably from the dead guard.

After running through tunnel after tunnel we finally managed to find the exit...which were occupied by two more guards. Might as well start off here. I think as I raise my spear up and charge at the oblivious guard. I pierce through his chest and push him,and myself, forward into the line of the other guard...but I dont here any- *THUNK* Except for that. I turn and see the guard had an arrow in his skull. "What the hell?" I say while turning towards more light. I shielded my eyes from the very bright light.

"We have to hurry or more guards will show up." A voice commands. After my eyes adjust I see a full group of cats with bows and swords.

"I knew this day was going to be bad." I say to myself. Remember when you had those 'bad feelings' for no reason? Well thats me, and most of the time im right. "We're so fucked."
