Chapter 18: A day in Canterlot

A day in Canterlot

General Grievous growled quietly in irritation when someone began banging on his doors rather loudly, he wasn't concerned as to whether or not they were furious royal guards coming to make a feeble attempt to arrest him for assaulting and threatening Blueblood. He was perfectly confident Blueblood would never utter a word about his frightful encounter with Grievous for as long as he lived.

'Probably to make sure none of them realize what a helpless weakling he actually is,' the warlord thought to himself disdainfully. Before he could even get close enough to the doors they burst open.

“HI GRIEVOUS!” A pink shape hugged his midsection...

'Pinkie Pie...of course,' he grumbled inwardly. The other five entered although with  more grace and civility.

“Pinkie, honestly you could have at least waited for him to open the doors!” Rarity scolded.

“Sorry,” Pinkie said happily while still hugging Grievous, “I'm just soooooooooooo happy to see him!” A metal hand pushed her off, but it was more of a “Get off” shove rather than an angry punch or slap of which the general was quite willing to deliver...especially to battle droids.

“Then you'd all be the first,” he stated, placing his hands behind his back, “now what do you want?”

Twilight finally spoke up with a happy smile. “We figured we'd show you around Canterlot.”

“Yeah!” Grievous looked down when Pinkie slid out from between his legs and began happily bouncing around. “There's so much to see!”

“C'mon let's go,” Applejack beckoned with her head, Pinkie used both her hooves and began to pull Grievous along.

'Here we go...,'

The first stop was Canterlot's garden. A pleasant place with perfectly trimmed hedges and dozens of flower types. Grievous was tall enough to a point where he actually had to duck under the flower covered  archway to get in. Fluttershy shuffled a small hoof nervously and looked down at the grassy ground shamefully when she saw a tree full of cheerfully singing birds.

“Something wrong Fluttershy,” Grievous glanced down at the nervous mare, “I thought animals were your specialty.”

“Oh they are...its just these birds aren't going to like me. Especially after that one incident.”

“One incident?”

“Its just poor Fluttershy over hear had a little mishap at the Grand Gallopin' Gala,” Applejack stated, comfortingly draping a foreleg over her shoulder's. Grievous curiously glanced at Rarity and then back to Fluttershy.

“It seems this Gala is a veritable hive of mishaps.”

“Oh it is,” Twilight said affirmatively, “but it ended wonderfully,” she smiled fondly at the memory of her friends, Princess Celestia, and herself altogether. Her real friends. She barely even registered the fact they were now passing a very familiar statue, of a terrified looking creature with wide eyes, his odd looking hands held out in front of him as though it were trying to stop some unseen force.

“Strange statue, why would your princesses keep such an atrocious piece in their gallery?” Grievous asked while he gave the statue another look over.

“That ain't no ordinary statue, that's Discord,” Applejack stood beside the cyborg and was looking at the statue contemptuously. Grievous was actually surprised by the angry looks that they were all giving the statue, except for Fluttershy, of course. Truthfully Grievous doubted that Fluttershy had the ability to hate.

“He's the Spirit of Chaos and he nearly destroyed all of Equestria and turned Ponyville into the Chaos Capital of The World...,” Twilight Sparkle narrated Discord's exploits and a depressed look came over her face, “I nearly lost my friends forever because of him.” She sniffled once and wiped one eye before Rarity came up with an idea that excited her greatly.

“Let's go shopping!”

“WHAT!?” Grievous reared back completely revolted by the idea. General Grievous...shopping!? The idea was ridiculous in and of itself but the idea seemed to cheer Twilight up immediately.

“That's a great  idea Rarity,” she beamed, the others nodded in agreement. Grievous held up one hand in an attempt to worm his way out of it but Rarity was already seizing a hold of his other hand.

“Come on let's go!”

“Alright now Grievous! You can come out now!” Rarity's voice clearly said from the other side of the light purple door of the changing room.

'This is ridiculous!' He thought as he put on whatever atrocious thing the stylish pony had picked out for him, 'But I may as well get this over with.' He opened the door and slowly stepped out, the six now were wearing new hats, most of them quite large and made for public display.

“Oh darling it looks so good on you!” Rarity exclaimed proudly, magically levitating a mirror up for Grievous to see. “Don't you think so Fluttershy?”

“Its...nice.” The butter yellow mare looked down slightly not wanting to upset her friend. Grievous looked at his reflection, the hat was gigantic, going even past his broad shoulders and drooping down at the ends; and large red feather sticking out of the top.

“What do you think?” Rarity's front hooves shuffled in excitement.

“Its hideous,” Grievous snatched the hat off his head, only to find six new hats being shoved into his hands by all six of them.

“Well at least try these on before we go to lunch,” Rarity pouted.

“You're lucky that I like the six of you-,” he stopped, his golden eyes widened when he realized his little slip, but they took no real notice of it. They had always known.

“Otherwise you'd shred us to bits with light thingies and blah blah get in there and try those has on!” Pinkie said before giggling. Grievous gave one growl and entered the changing room.

The little cafe Rarity chose was very upscale, but they were heroes and Celestia's esteemed friends so they were to be given free service by order of the manager. The good mood was ruined when Prince Blueblood approached their table steadily.

“Oh great...here comes trouble,” Rainbow Dash grumbled from her seat, they were all seated outside so they could enjoy the pleasant afternoon sun.

“Good afternoon-,” Blueblood's voice caught in his throat and his eyes widened like dinner plates when Grievous rose to his full height.

“What do you want Blueblood?” But Blueblood knew it wasn't a question...it was his cue to begin his apologize.

“I came here to apologize...to all of you,” he gave a fake grin, it hadn't escaped his notice that Grievous shifted his cape so that the narcissistic prince got a glimpse of his lightsabers. In a hammy display Blueblood dropped to the floor and crawled over to them.

“Oh please forgive me! I was in the wrong to treat the seven of you as poorly as I did...please forgive me I can't live with this on my conscious-,” he place the back of his right hoof on his forehead dramatically.

“Okay okay!” Twilight held up her hooves awkwardly, glancing around at all the upper class ponies who were all looking at Blueblood like he'd just fallen out of the sky.

“You can go,” Grievous stated triumphantly, and Blueblood ran away...at full speed; rounding the corner and disappearing.

Rarity looked at the cyborg as he sat down suspiciously, “Did you have anything to do with this?”

“No.”

But they all knew the real answer, Rarity leaned in slightly.

“When you demanded that he apologize...did he wet himself?”

“Almost.”

They all laughed at his reply, and even Grievous let out a low chuckle at the success of his handiwork. Next Chapter: Assault on Canterlot Estimated time remaining: 36 Minutes
