A Pink Haired Miracle
Chapter 2: Encounter
Previous ChapterEvery so often something happens to us that makes us feel… I don’t know, like it’s all worth it in the end. My life was going nowhere. No job, no formal education, not even high school (I got kicked out of there and just moved out of my folk’s place after words) and I was living in a God forsaken dump that someone tried to pass off as a decent apartment for $250 a month.
My life was completely turned upside down one day, as I was walking home. I had just gotten fired from the local gas station and now I had no job to pay for my rent. As I was walking I noticed something strange in one of the alleys. It was a blanket, but that wasn’t the strange thing, the strange thing was what was under the blanket. I was expecting a baby to be under it or something, and I was right. Sort of. It was a baby, but not a human baby. It was a small pony, around 2 feet tall, with wings. Wings! Horses don’t have wings. It’s impossible. And yet here she was hiding underneath that blanket to keep warm. I didn’t know what to do with it. I couldn’t keep her though! I had no job. My apartment was disgusting. All these excuses ran through my head about why I shouldn’t have taken her in. And yet she made this face. It really touched me, and made me like… like as if I was holding a baby in my arms at that moment. Not just any baby though, a sibling, or even better, my own child. I thought for a bit and just couldn’t let this poor thing freeze to death out in the street like this. I took her home with me, but I couldn’t just carry her around like this. People would look at me like I was a freak, the police or even animal control might take her away. I had to hide her somehow. My jacket! I could hide her in my jacket and it would not only keep her hidden, but keep her warm.
As I walked home again with this pink haired pony I couldn’t help but think I’ve seen her from somewhere before. When I got home I decided to give her some chopped carrots and half a chopped apple as well. Not like I was gonna eat it anytime soon, plus it was going to expire in a few days anyway. Suddenly I had an idea. I checked my T.V. and looked at the guide for the HUB network. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! That’s where I saw her, Fluttershy was her name, I recognized the pink mane and yellow body. Although she didn’t have her little symbol thing on her flank like in the show. I decided to do some research on the show and found out a few things about her personality and that symbol. The “Cutie Mark” was missing according to the Wikipedia article. I was astounded, baffled. There was just no way this was happening. A character from a cartoon, for little girls no less was now in my world. I couldn’t believe it I was pacing around the room talking to myself about it for an hour, while Fluttershy sat on the couch. She was scared, that much was obvious. I walked up to her and asked, “Do you know who you are? What your name is? Anything?” she just shook her head no. “Can you speak?” she opened her mouth, obviously trying to say something but nothing came out. She just shook her head again. How did she understand me then? I sat next to her and just couldn’t help but think about what in the world I was going to do. All these worries came to mind and I looked at her after a while. She just climbed onto my lap and smiled, then fell fast asleep. I just sat there and smiled back, petting her head, and eventually just drifting off asleep. I didn’t know what it was, but just being around her like this made me happy. But it was late and I had worked hard all day. It was time for me to get some sleep too, even if it was on the couch.
