I figured the show was meant for little kids...
Let's be serious here. We all love our ponies. We all love our stories as well. But sometimes I think that we forget ourselves. There are so many stories here of tragedy and loss. There are so many stories here that involve quirky and surreal situations. And so, to rekindle a sort of forgotten flame, here is The Great Equestrian Picturebook, so that we can more so remember the kid inside of us.
This is pretty much a drawfriend with words.
The Great Equestrian Picture Book
Page One
It was dark, and the critters were all cozy in bed,
when Fluttershy woke with a face full of dread.
"Oh, dear!" she shouted as she quivered with fright.
Because her dream had shown her what went bump in the night.
Page Two
"My friends!" she said. "They're gone, every one!"
Because that is what her dream said had been done.
So she worried and fretted for hours on end,
and she hoped that her friends would come back again.
Page Three
Poor Fluttershy, she could not sleep for the rest of the night.
Her dream said her friends had all left after a fight.
Pinkie Pie, Twilight, Rainbow Dash too?
Applejack, Rarity? Oh what could she do!?
Page Four
Fluttershy thought for a while in the dark.
Fishing around for some magical spark.
She gulped, she frowned, and she swallowed back tears,
and she left her small cottage to conquer her fears.
Page Five
So Fluttershy fled down the moonlit street.
The breeze was gentle, and the air smelled sweet.
"I m-must find my friends!" she said with a stutter.
To Twilight's house first, for our pegasus of butter!
Page Six
She raced into town, in search of her friend.
For she feared that she would not see Twilight again.
The treehouse could be seen a short distance away.
She just hoped her friend Twilight would be okay!
Page Seven
Fluttershy leapt and flew through the air.
She flew up to the second story to see what was there.
Did she dare peek through the window? Was Twilight inside?
She'd never know if she didn't give it a try.
Page Eight
Fluttershy crept to the window to peer inside.
She expected the worst, but what did she find?
Twilight was sleeping, curled up in her bed.
This is definitely not what the dream had said.
Page Nine
"Oh, good," said Fluttershy. "Twilight is all right."
As Twilight was snuggled up in her blanket so tight.
"The others! I must make sure they're still here!"
And so she flew from the balcony, westward she veered.
Page Ten
Fluttershy frowned as she soared through the air.
Who was next on the list in her frantic despair?
Then all of a sudden, what else did she spy,
But the sugary house of Pinkie Pie!
Page Eleven
Fluttershy raced right into the house.
She accidentally disturbed a small mouse.
"Sorry," she whispered as she tip-hoofed upstairs.
Would Pinkie Pie even be waiting up there?
Page Twelve
This was it, Pinkie Pie's bedroom door.
Fluttershy was scared to find what was in store.
She pried open the door, and what did she see?
Pinkie was home and was snoring loudly.
Page Thirteen
"Well, this wasn't what my dream said at all..."
Fluttershy whispered from out in the hall.
She went back to the stairs, and a small mouse did follow.
"Good night, Pinkie Pie. I'll see you tomorrow."
Page Fourteen
Who was next on the list? That was the question.
As Fluttershy sped off in a different direction.
"Oh, I know!" Fluttershy said as she went down the street.
It was time for a stop at the Carousel Boutique!
Page Fifteen
The night was breaking into the day,
as Fluttershy went on her way.
All around the streets were bare.
Poor Fluttershy was the only one there.
Page Sixteen
Around the corner, Fluttershy fled.
The Boutique was all the way at the end.
Pinkie and Twi were in bed this morning.
Would Rarity be a similar story?
Page Seventeen
Through the front door Fluttershy did sneak.
She bounded up the stairs, and the steps, they did creak.
Her heart beating fast, she stepped into the room,
so she could brush away her fears like a broom.
Page Eighteen
Was Rarity home? Was she all right?
Fluttershy wouldn't know if she didn't open her eyes.
She lifted one eyelid, and what did she see?
Well, Rarity was home, and she looked quite sleepy.
Page Nineteen
"Poor Rarity. She just works all the time,"
said Fluttershy as we continue to rhyme.
Now that Rarity's safe, who's next on the list?
There were only two left, and they cannot be missed.
Page Twenty
Fluttershy rushed right out of the town.
She went out to the edge, where the trees could be found.
She left Ponyville without looking back,
to find her dear old friend Applejack!
Page Twenty-one
So to Sweet Apple Acres, Fluttershy did go,
simply because she wanted to know,
if her friend was still here, if she didn't leave,
and if she could find the relief to believe.
Page Twenty-two
Fluttershy whizzed through the Apple's front yard.
She flew to Applejack's window like a pony on guard.
What did she find that almost caused her to fall?
Applejack wasn't in there at all!
Page Twenty-three
Fluttershy wheezed and panted and heaved.
She was worrying so much she thought she would scream.
But she stopped herself, for she then heard a voice...
Somepony in the orchard was making a noise.
Page Twenty-four
Fluttershy did not waste a beat.
She flew from the window and into the trees.
She broke through the branches, and what did she spy?
Well, she could not even believe her eyes!
Page Twenty-five
There was Applejack, and Big Mac, too.
Even Applebloom had something to do.
They hadn't left, they had just gone to work.
Fluttershy was nearing the end of her search.
Page Twenty-six
"No time to lose, I'll be there in a flash!"
And so Fluttershy left to see Rainbow Dash.
She went up through the branches, up real high.
For she was travelling to a town in the sky!
Page Twenty-seven
"Oh, she must be here, I just must see her face!"
She said as she stopped at just the right place.
She had made it, and now she knew just what to do.
Fluttershy stepped into Dashie's room.
Page Twenty-eight
But what's this? Rainbow Dash wasn't there!
Fluttershy frowned as she searched everywhere.
Under the covers, behind the bookcase,
No doubt Rainbow had been erased!
Page Twenty-nine
"Oh dear, part of my dream, it came true."
And Fluttershy just didn't know what to do.
So she cried on the bed, sobbing and booing.
When a voice piped up and said, "What are you doing?"
Page Thirty
Fluttershy jumped up and wiped her teardrops away.
Rainbow Dash was in fact here to stay!
Dashie came over and sat on the bed.
"I never thought," said Flutters, "that I'd see you again."
Page Thirty-one
So Fluttershy told Dash the whole tale.
Of the dream that ballooned to a frightening scale.
When Fluttershy finished, Dash had taken the news.
"Fluttershy," she said, "I have something to tell you."
Page Thirty-two
"Now I may not be so good with the whole gushy thing,
but you're our best friend, and you always will be.
I know something that I knew from the start,
and that is that nothing could tear us apart."
Page Thirty-three
A few hours later, everything was all right.
Fluttershy's friends had not gone in the night.
They sat at the picnic, enjoying their lunch.
And Fluttershy had never loved it so much.
Page Thirty-four
Everyone here, and it was too good to be true.
Just hours ago she had been feeling so blue.
Dashie's words had just made her day,
and Fluttershy had one final thing to say.
Page Thirty-five
"I just want to say on behalf of myself,
that I love you girls more than anything else.
And no matter what happens, we'll be here together.
And we'll be best friends for forever and ever."
