"Back so soon?" Luna quipped, smiling as Twilight landed on the balcony outside their quarters.
"Hmm, I'm afraid so." Twilight yawned as she entered their bedroom, her face drawn.
"Uh oh. I know that look. Did everything go okay?"
"Fine, actually." Twilight finally forced a smile onto her face. "I'm actually just really tired."
"Oh, come here." Luna held the covers open, smiling as Twilight crawled up onto the bed beside her. Twilight's new body was just as large as her own, and she could finally embrace Luna as an equal. When she was a simple unicorn, Twilight had always had to curl up in a ball, with Luna curled around her. Now, as Twilight liked to put it, 'I can be the big spoon.' Luna tucked her wings tight and pressed her back into Twilight's chest, sighing as the princess of magic herself wrapped her forelegs around Luna's frame. "Tell me about your meeting with the dragons."
"They're willing to vacate Equestrian borders for good, but only if we promise them we won't send anypony into the dragon territories." Twilight summarized with a wide yawn. "We're going to have to establish a border and a guard, to ensure compliance on our side."
"Hmm... The guard is getting bogged down with un-deployed units... We could use a border guard." Luna mused, nestling down into the sheets. Twilight nodded and kissed the back of her neck, smiling as she laid her head on the pillow.
"I'll talk with Aegis about it in the morning... How did the cycle go?"
"Fine... Little Rarity is progressing remarkably well as Banner's student. She helped us all by herself today."
"Impressive. She's only ten, and can already shield herself against you two?"
"Indeed." Luna nodded. She felt the tiredness and fatigue of the day catch up to her, and her eyes closed slowly. "She truly is a prodigy... Which is surprising, since her mother is a simple earth pony..."
"Humble beginnings." Twilight muttered tiredly. She seemed to be exhausted as well. "I'm sure she'll take over Banner's spot someday... Or maybe she'll be a fashion designer like her grandmother."
"Seems like a waste of talent if you ask me..."
"No talent that creates something new and intriguing is wasted talent. I'd wear her dresses in a heartbeat."
"I think I'd like to see that." Luna muttered, kissing the back of Twilight's hoof.
"You'd just like to see the dress on the floor, and me on your bed."
"You're already in my bed." Luna pushed her hips back, pressing gently against Twilight's own.
"Ooh..." Twilight groaned, pushing her hips forward in return. Her forelegs tightened around Luna, but she stopped after just one kiss. "In the morning, love. Some of us just flew two hundred miles."
"Oh, fine." Luna sighed. After a moment's pause, though, she turned in Twilight's embrace, facing her love. Their necklaces clacked together, and she smiled at the familiar snapping sound. "Good night, Princess Twilight Sparkle."
"Good night, Princess Luna..."
With one more tender kiss, the two princesses drifted off to sleep peacefully.
-------------
Their lives were spent peacefully. While they had their fair share of heartache and trouble, they were always their for one another. As two princesses, they were a paragon of love and tolerance among every other couple in Equestria. They presided over many ceremonies, and blessed many pairings with Twilight's own brand of mysterious magic. While the position of Archmage existed, it was more-or-less a title and not a responsibility anymore. Twilight could easily handle the entirety of the Archmage's duties, though she kept ponies like Banner around to help teach and develop them. Archmages in the future were able to start families, travel and see the world. They lived long and prosperous lives, free of the stress and exhaustion that Twilight herself had faced during her time as Archmage.
While Twilight knew she had many, many years ahead of her to watch ponies come and go in her life, she knew she had three constants. Celestia, who became more like a sister to her than ever before, was always kind and understanding. She was wise beyond measure, but had a playful sense of humor that Twilight was always fascinated by.
Cadance, whom had always been like a bigger sister to her anyways, now became more like a little sister. She was always so open-minded and free, that despite being well over twice Twilight's age, she still seemed like a foal. Shining Armor's passing was difficult for her to handle, but with the support of her family, she pulled through and found love again. And again. And again after that.
And then there was Luna. Their love was eternal, and inspired ponies everywhere to be like them. Throughout the thousand of years of their life, they never drifted apart. They settled all of their arguments civilly, and Twilight had to admit the makeup sex was incredible.
Equestria prospered under the four princess' guidance. Across the ages of the world, ponies everywhere were happy.
All-in-all, Twilight had a good life. Not a stellar life, or even fantastic. But it was good.
And she was very, very happy.
