A voice jerked me from my sleep. “Apple Bloom, get up!” Applejack shouted. I groaned as I opened my eyes. I looked out the window, and the sun hadn’t even risen yet. What was going on? It was a Saturday, and there was no school. I got out of my bed, and walked down the hallway. Big Macintosh and Granny Smith weren’t even up. What was so important, Nopony got up before Big Macintosh. I walked down the stairs.

“What is it, sis?” I asked her.

“Yer friend Scootaloo wants tuh talk tuh you. She seems to think it's so darn important, it couldn't wait till the sun came up.” She replied, with a bit of irritation. She did not look happy to be woken up this early.

Great, what plan does she have for us now? I thought. I opened the door and walked outside, and waiting there was Scootaloo and a half-awake Sweetie Belle.

“Good, you’re finally out here. Come on, I’ve got a plan that’s sure to get us our Cutie Marks!” Scootaloo said with an eager smile.

“What’s this sure to work plan this time?” I muttered. Scootaloo gestured for us to follow, and we followed her.

“I was up thinking, last night, and then it dawned on me.” Scootaloo monologued, as we started walking into town.

"It's still last night." I murmured.

“If there’s a pony in here that would have some way to help us find our Cutie Marks, it would be Twilight!” Scootaloo explained, as we passed by the gazebo where we had accidentally poisoned Cheerilee and Big Mac with the supposed love potion.

“Twilight’s magic can’t give us a Cutie Mark though!” Sweetie Belle said.

“I know, but maybe she has a book on getting Cutie Marks!” Scootaloo replied. It actually sounded a bit logical, for once. It had been six months since Twilight’s brother got married, and we still hadn’t gotten our Cutie Marks. It was actually becoming depressing, we were the only ones at school without our Cutie Marks. As we walked over the bridge into the main town, and passed by Sugarcube Corner, I thought of something.

“Wait, isn’t Twilight out of town?” I asked Scootaloo.

“Yeah, but Spike’s been told that as long as he can keep the library organized, he can keep it open for others.” Scootaloo replied. The library came into view, and I thought one thing.

“Well, it is going to get very unorganized.” I thought.

We reached the library, and Spike didn’t seem irritated that we had come so early, probably because he was used to Twilight. “Spike, do you know where we could find books on Cutie Marks?” Scootaloo asked,

“Uh, no. Sorry, it probably would be under C though.” We started looking through books, and although there were books about Cutie Marks, they weren’t of any help to us. They weren’t anything we didn’t know about already.

As I looked through some book I didn’t fully understand called “The Evolution of the Cutie Mark”, which went on about Cutie Marks being the result of "natural selection", giving prehistoric ponies the knowledge of what their role was in a tribe. I was pulled out of it when Scootaloo shouted over, “Hey, I found something!” I ran over and Scootaloo had a book in her hoof called “The Power of the Cutie Mark”

“It looks like the rest of the title is worn off.” Sweetie Belle noted.

“Who cares, the title says it all. This has got to be something good!” Scootaloo responded. She opened the book, and asked me to read it. I started reading the text at the beginning which said:

It is prophesied that on the day of the half-year anniversary of the Changeling invasion when the sun is at its peak, a terrible force of darkness will come to Equestria. Equestria will be no match for the mighty force, and even though its soldiers will fight valiantly, they will not be able to stop it. The Elements of Harmony will attempt to stop the force, but will do so in vain. This terrible force will rule Equestria with an iron fist of terror. But, when it seems there will be no light in the darkness, a group of three will arise. This group will be three young fillies, who have become friends through their mutual goal of finding their Talent Marks. They will reside in a small town that the Elements of Harmony also reside in, and will be of distinct origins. One will be the sister of the Element of Honesty, another will be the sister of the Element of Generosity. The last one will be one who seems to have no origin, and has taken upon herself to make her home in the hearts of others. Their names will be Apple Blossom, Sweet Beauty, and  Run Distant. It will be the duty of Equestria to help these three brave fillies find their true Talent, with which they will be able to fight and stop the force.

I was a bit creeped out, the group of fillies sounded awfully similar to us. Sweetie Belle seemed to think the same thing. “Well, come on. You can’t honestly think that’s us. I mean, really it’s just probably an old mare’s tale.” Scootaloo said.

“Ah don’t know, Scootaloo. Nightmare Moon and Discord were also mare’s tales. And a Changeling invasion, that happened exactly six months ago today. Also, Ah’m the sister of Applejack, who’s the Element of Honesty, and Sweetie Belle is Rarity’s sister, and Rarity is the Element of Generosity.” I said.

“It’s just a book, Apple Bloom. We need to look through others, there’s gotta be advice in some books here.” Sweetie Belle and I didn’t budge.

“Come on, what’s a Talent Mark anyways?” Scootaloo asked.

Spike entered the room, “Did you guys say something about a Talent Mark?” He inquired.

“Yeah, why?” Sweetie Belle asked.

“Twilight has been researching stuff about Cutie Marks lately, and apparently they used to be called Talent Marks.” We looked at him strangely, and he seemed to get nervous, “Ummm... Hey, do you wanna go outside, you guys have been here nearly all morning. It’s getting close to noon.” He said as he left the room, running as soon as he left the entrance way.

“Talent Marks are Cutie Marks? This is definitely sounding creepy, this sounds like us.” Sweetie Belle said.

I thought for a moment and said, “Sweetie Belle, grab that book. Maybe we should keep it for right now, it is a library after all.” As we walked outside, I noticed the clock tower, it was an hour and a half to noon.

“Hey, isn’t blossom another word for bloom?” Sweetie asked.

“Come on, girls, Ah think we need to talk to Zecora.” I said.
