Before the Mane Six took up the Elements of Harmony to defeat Nightmare Moon, who kept Equestria safe from things that go skree in the night? While Celestia reigns alone, little societies have waged quiet wars to maintain that peace and liberty most ponies take for granted. Vinyl Scratch and Octavia, themselves more than mortal, do not fight with rainbows. The monsters they battle are inspired by Hellsing, Warhammer 40k, Doom, and Men in Black.

=#= This was originally intended as a very brief scene of Vinyl and Octavia clobbering a few monsters and having a good time. It has turned into something much larger, and I cannot thank enough the fans who have stuck with it all this time. The story was inspired by Team Four Star's excellent Hellsing Abridged videos, along with too many hours spent playing Doom, but some adjustments have been made to that source material in the spirit of keeping Friendship Is Magic's core values at the fore.
