Concrete Angel
Chapter 1: Concrete Angel
Concrete Angel
A brown pegasi filly walks the streets of Manehattan, her dress tattered and ragged as small squares of different cloth, linen and laced to cover the damage from age and excessive use has caused. A small lunch box dangles from her mouth as she stares focusing on it and the path ahead of her unacknowledged or recognized by the hustle of the Manehattan crowd only seeming to be dark shady figures to her as she continues to focus as she ventures towards her destination.
She soon arrives at her school, alone and depressed nobody acknowledging her as her face with a blank expression and eyes focused down on the paper infront of her. No one to befriend or communicate with she sits alone, her mind given time able to wander only on the past, what has happened and what could never be again.
The violet mare with an orange curled hair, the teacher, acknowledges every student, various expressions each seething with joy except for one pegasi infront of the class with a saddened somewhat yet blank expression. She cares for each and everyone of them but she felt it as if it wasn't her jurisdiction to ask about her problems with love and understanding which could ease the pain and tears behind her mask bearing a burden of a secret storm only a parent can soothe.
School ended for the day as the filly hovered only a few metres trying to get away from civilization, the teacher at the entrance of the door feels for the young pegasi and hopes to have a chat with her tomorrow.
Walking up the hill, and finally reaching the top, the pegasi lays a bouquet of flowers near a polished stone standing firm and still as the rain dampens her mane, it was if Celestia herself set the mood for this young mare. The tombstone high and proud shades the filly from most of the rainfall as even in death, where the mothers soul rested had protected her child from even the smallest of problems. Standing there in silence to respect the dead she then walks off towards her home.
She soon gallops and flies to her destination only covering small ground landing gracefully at her doorstep and entered her home, small and slight refuge covering the floor. With the visit to the grave, her mother still on her mind, she grabs a chair reaching the highest shelf to grab an album. Only one picture rested with a light yellow pegasus mare with pink hair taller than the brown filly both with expressions of joy.... the only place where she felt loved.
Night had taken over as she laid there on her mattress reminiscing what she could have about her mother. She cries wishing for things to be different..... One source of light coming from the neighbor's house provided the filly with an acquaintance of the dark, her own shadow. The neighbor hears the cries, her heart sinking only wishing too help the poor filly...she takes off her light and with that the filly's only friend now embracing her in Luna's night.
When morning came it was already too late for any aid to reach her, the house was vacant as miles away the filly stood on a cliff in the rain firm mourning for the only soul which showed compassion and love. The rain stopped as a hole was punched through the heaven's giving the filly false warmth but something close to it, she felt at peace in mind and soul.
The false warmth and heaven's light invited her as she felt happier but not as happy as she was in that photographed memory. Instinct took over influenced with sadness and loneliness she jumped towards the light her wings letting out flapping hoping, praying she would reach.

A statue stands in a shaded place, an angel girl with an upturned face, a name is written on a polished rock. A broken heart that would soon be forgotten.
The filly stood on a cloud, the same inviting sun light which gave her false warmth as wind blew through her mane. Ever cooling she stood firm, eyes closed, allowing the wind as it made her feel free.
Through her lids was a light brighter than the heaven's, it could not be seen by any other but only sensed. She opened her eyes tears formed as she saw the same mare from the photo floating down gracefully towards her daughter, an expression filled with tears of joy, and love on both faces not seen for a long time as nothing can replace what was felt. The brown pegasi rushes, the mother embracing her child with arms and wings in what felt like an eternity In what should be an eternity as those bonds should not be broken and cannot be broken.
The filly risked everything for a place where she was truly loved and acknowledged, the memory taken in the photograph was finally re-enacted again in what can finally be forever as mother and daughter stood there in silence. The filly risked everything for a place where she was truly loved.
