Rainbow Factory (Remake) 2

Rarity's door was a light blue with diamonds embedded into the wood. The white unicorn paused to stare at the beautiful door, but she quickly followed Rainbow Dash through it and into the hallway. Eventually they arrived at her special door.

"Well, what do you think?" the blue pegasus asked, watching Rarity closely.

Rarity surveyed the deep purple door. It had a picture of her in her Grand Galloping Gala outfit painted on it. "Oh, darling, it's simply divine! I didn't know you could paint. Rainbow Dash, you've been holding out on us."

Rainbow Dash laughed. "I didn't paint it. Fluttershy did. I couldn't paint to save my life", Rainbow told her, struggling to stop laughing. "Now go on in."

Rarity blushed lightly and stepped in through the door, which she opened with her magic. Her jaw dropped.

Rows of fabric were carefully and neatly shelved and a ginormous desk stood in the center of the room. It was covered in scissors, paper, pencils, needles, and thread. Opalescence was curled up in the far corner, batting at extra supplies. To her right, mannequins stood, ready for use.

"Well, I hope you like it", Rainbow Dash told her friend. "I've gotta get back to the others. Dressmaking isn't really my thing. Gotta fly!" The cyan pegasus departed, shutting the door gently behind her.

The white unicorn trotted quickly over to the fabrics, selecting a deep green shade. She whisked the fabric into the air with her magic and quickly cleared a space for it on the desk. "I'll start with a lovely dress for Fluttershy, then I'll make one for Rainbow Dash, then the others", she decided, talking to Opal. Rarity selected a pencil and quickly sketched a design for the dress. Taking a marker, she guided it over the fabric, outlining the pattern.

It was then that the lights flickered. Rarity had just finished the pattern and was poised to cut out the pieces when the power went completely out.

"What in Equestria?" Rarity asked. She stumbled blindly about the room, bumping into several mannequins and stepping on several sheets of fabric.

Suddenly, there was a plaintive mewing from across the room.

"Opal?" Rarity called. "Opalescence, where are you?" She followed the sound of the repeated mewing until she bumped into a door. "Opal, are you in there?" Receiving no reply Rarity was about to turn away, when she heard a hiss from behind the door. Immediately, Rarity opened it with her magic and cantered into the room.

Opal sat nonchalantly in the middle of the room, licking her paw and drawing it over her ears.

It was this movement that caused Rarity to notice the spot of green on her pet's white fur. "Why, Opal, what is that on your head?" She moved towards the cat until she heard the slow creak of hinges and then the slamming of the door. Whipping around, Rarity saw with horror that her only exit was blocked by iron bars.

Opal hissed wickedly. She stalked towards her owner, claws out, ears flat. Then she tipped back her head and yowled loudly.

The clouds beneath Rarity's hooves shook, nearly knocking the unicorn down. A shaggy brown head popped up near her feet. Rarity stumbled backwards.

Soon a dozen Diamond Dogs were standing on the clouds, surrounding Rarity. Opal sat smugly at the feet of the leader.

"What? How did you-How are you walking on-?" Rarity stammered, looking down at the clouds below their paws.
The leader laughed harshly. "Magic, Queenie, magic. By a Trixie unicorn." He began to advance slowly. The rest of the Diamond Dogs followed. "Bad Queenie, she left us. Was our kingdom not fit for a queen, eh?"

Opal crept towards Rarity, hissing at her again.

Rarity glared at the dogs. "No, it was not fit for a queen. I left you so you could fix it up." She tossed her mane and looked down at her pet. "Now, Opalescence, don't make that horrible noise." Despite her brave words and reproving tone, the white unicorn was backing up slowly, inch by inch.

"Oho! So now you tell us your plans to come back" a Diamond Dog well versed in speech called out. The rest of the dogs laughed and a few called out agreements.

Opalescence made the first move. She was now within leaping distance of her owner. And leap she did. The white feline pounced onto Rarity's back, digging her claws in deep.

Rarity screamed and bucked. She watched her cat fly off and land in a far corner. Then the Diamond Dogs were upon her.

One of the dogs scratched her across the muzzle, tinging his claws with her blood. Another grasped a leg in his teeth. Three more latched onto her other legs.

But Rarity wasn't done just yet. She summoned her strength and jumped into the air, dislodging one of the dogs. With her free hoof, she smacked a Diamond Dog on the top of his head as hard as she could. He went down and she quickly beat off the other two. Rarity bucked out wildly, hitting as many dogs as she could.

Then it happened. Rarity's strength was failing, but she kept fighting valiantly. Scratched from both the dogs and her own dear pet, Rarity was panting heavily. She bucked once more, but this time a Diamond Dog grabbed onto one of her hind legs with his teeth. He bit in deeply.

Rarity shrieked as three others latched their own teeth into her remaining legs. With the last of her power, the unicorn used her magic to sweep them away from her. Four more simply took their place. Exhausted, Rarity stopped struggling.

The lead dog took her head in his paws. "Oh, look at the Queenie now!" he taunted. He released her head and nodded to the dogs holding her legs.

Rarity gasped in pain as they pulled her off of the ground, each pulling on a leg. Her left hind leg went first. The Diamond Dog tossed it away from her, just as another leg came off. Soon Rarity was crying in pain, shrieking at every movement. The other two dogs jerked their heads violently, blood spraying out of the now empty sockets.

The door flew open and Rainbow Dash entered. She swung her head until she was focused on the lead Diamond Dog. "I told you not to make a mess! Now look at what I have to clean up!" The pegasus snorted and gathered up Rarity's torso and her legs. She flew out into the hallway where she bent down and whispered to somepony in the shadows.

Trixie entered the room and smugly surveyed the Diamond Dogs. "Goodbye." A wave of magic shot out and entered the canine's minds. Their brains were fried and they dropped straight through the clouds. "It's raining dogs", Trixie sang softly. "Hallelujah. It's raining dogs. Bow-wow!" She laughed softly and then turned to Opal. The light blue unicorn removed her spell and listened to the cat howl.

Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash had dumped Rarity's body into the machine. The gears twisted and the tube absorbed the purple from Rarity's mane and then turned to her cutie mark. Sensing blue, it eagerly sucked that up as well.

Pinkie Pie, Applejack, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash all stared up at the beautiful rainbow now adorning the sky.

Rainbow turned to the pink party pony. "Come on, Pinkie Pie. This is gonna be great."

The smiling earth pony bounced after the pegasus, not at all expecting what was to come.
