Secrets Of A Rainbow

It was noon in the magical land of Equestria. And a little town known as Ponyville, was as busy as usual.

Applejack was bucking for apples in the orchard. Pinkie Pie was busily- and hyperactively- baking delicious sweet goods. Rarity was sewing together a rather hip dress for Sapphire Shores and Fluttershy was trying to make Angel eat his lunch.

In central Ponyville was a tree library. Twilight Sparkle's home.

"Twilight, please sit down! You're making me dizzy!" Spike, no.1 assistant, moaned.

Twilight paced around the room while muttering.

"Say what?!"

"I said where is she?"

"Where's who?"

"Rainbow! She said she'll help me re-organize the library."

"But I'll help"

"No, Spike. It's your day off. Hmmm. Where is she?" Twilight was getting impatient. Really, REALLY impatient.

KNOCK.KNOCK.KNOCK

Twilight answered the door.

"Finally Rain-"

"Well howdy Twilight!" Greeted Applejack. "Are ya okay?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"It's Rainb-"

"Rainbow?! Again?!"

"What do you mean again?"

"She agreed ta bring some rain clouds over ta tha farm, but she didn't come. So Derpy had ta do it. Which didn't end well." Applejack rubbed the back of her neck.

Pinkie jumped next to Applejack, making her jump.

"Woah! Incoming Pink sugar rush!"

"OooOoOooooo! Have you seen Dashie? I've looked everywhere for her and I mean everywhere. Her house and Cloudsdale and Manehatten and Phillydelpha and Trottingham and Canterlot and Applelosa an-"

"Woah! Woah! Pinkie, do you mean you went to all those places in less than half a day?"

"Yep! 1 hour, 46 minutes and 27 seconds!'

"What?! But it takes an average pony 2 or more days!"

"Errr...Twi! I tink we established tha Pinkie ain't an average pony. So don't try ta intafer when she's being Pinkie and doin stuff."

"Pinkie Pie style!!"

"What are you going on about, Pinkie dear?" Rarity and Fluttershy trotted in to join the conversation.

"We were talki-mmphf!" An orange hoof stopped Pinkie. "All right Pinkie. We don't want ya ta talk us ta death!"

Twilight shook her while holding back the giggles.

'We were talking about Rainbow dash."

"Rainbow Dash? Fluttershy and I saw Rainbow a little while ago, didn't we dear?" Fluttershy nodded in agreement.

"Yes but she looked like she needed a day in the spa."

"What makes ya say that?"

"Well, she was limping, her wing looked mangled, her hair covered her eye and her outfit, simple yet subtle. It looked like she was going out because she was entering the train station."

"Mmmmm.mmmmm!"

"What?!" Pinkie pushed Applejack's hoof out of her mouth.

"The train leaves at one o'clock."

"Come on everypony! Rainbow has got some answering to do!" As the girls walked out, Twilight yelled out to Spike.

"Spike. Clean up and look after the library!"

*yawn*"Yeah, yeah. Whatever! See ya Twi!"

Rainbow dash was dressed in a musky blue uniform with a gold outlining and a matching bearet. Around her waist was a brown belt that held a rapier and small dagger. Her fringe covered her left eye and the back of her hair was done up in a bun.

She entered an empty carriage, on the train, and waited for departure.

Twilight and co. ran to the platform but soon realized that the train left early.

What was going on? Where was Rainbow going?

They wanted answers. And they knew a certain princess that could help.

"Applejack fetch the balloon!"

After setting up the hot air balloon, they set off to Canterlot.

10 minutes later, they arrived in central Canterlot. When they clambered out, they saw two familiar faces.

"Lyra! Bonbon!"

"Girls! We didn't know you were coming to Canterlot."

"We didn't either! It was a last minute thing. What are you doing here?"

"We're here to see my cousin, aren't we Lyra?"

"Yeah! And so I can show Octavia at the orchestra, that a lyre is better than a crappy cello!"

"Lyra! Watch your language!"

"Yes mom!" Lyra said sarcastically.

"Oooo! Girls, before I forget," Bonbon looked around. "Have you heard the rumors?"

"No. What rumors?"

"Bonbon! We don't know if its true!"

"Well there's enough evidence! Where was i? Oh yeah, rumors say that Equestria is at war."

"What?!" They said in unison.

"Oh come on Bonbon! We're going to be late!" Lyra started pulling at Bonbon's tail.

"Alright! Bye girls!"

The 5 girls just stood there. War? Okay, now they really wanted answers!

"Good afternoon, Commander." Two guards that stood outside the door while holding spear, used their magic to open the hall doors.

"And to you to."  Rainbow entered the hall and the doors closed. Inside she found Princess Luna.

"Hello Luna."

"Oh hello, Rainbow Dash. Celestia will be here soon."

Just as Rainbow sat down, she heard the voice of a certain pink pony.

"OooooOooooo!I wonder were Dashie is! Do think Celestia will know? I mean she is all knowing!"

"Yes Pinkie. Celestia should also know about this war."

Twilight and co. walked towards the hall when the was a sudden noise.

BAM!

The hall doors flew open revealing a very angry pegasus. The guards were laid among the floor with thirty spears scattered.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" Rainbow yelled.

"Umm..." Was all they could say.

Rainbow walked towards the girls before being abrubtly by two crossed spears.

"What is the meaning of this? Lower your spears!"

"Sorry Commander, but rule 340 states that all innocents must be protected from threats."

"So I'm a threat now? Enough! I said lower your spears."

"You're in possession of weapons." One of the guards pointed to her sword.

"For the love of... urg." Rainbow placed her sword and dagger on the floor. "There happy now? Now please let me pass. I'm no longer a threat."

"Sorry but rule 331 states tha-"

"Oh Celestia, that's it!" She stood on her fore-legs and used her back legs to kick the guards. They fell to the floor with bloody snouts. As she put her dagger and sword back into her belt a smooth but urging voice called from behind.

"Commander, what is going on?"

The Truth

"Princess Celestia, these two numbskulls weren't obeying my orders."

"Is this true, sirs?"

"She was threatening those innocent mares," he pointed a hoof towards the girls, "rule 3-"

"I told you to obey her commands. You should obey Commander's, mine, Luna's or Shining Armour's commands. Especially Commander Dash. We cannot afford muck ups now. Dismissed."

Celestia and Rainbow entered the hall, followed by 5 very confused mares.

"Right, what is going on?" Twilight demanded.

Rainbow looked at Celestia. "Please Princess. We're in a difficult position now. We can't tell them."

"I understand. But they are your friends."

"They're my family. I want to keep them safe."

"They will feel safer if you tell them."

"Okay." Rainbow took a deep breath and trotted towards her friends.

"Girls, this is hard for you to take in but, Equestria is at war."

"What?!"

"And I'm the commander of the E.A."

"E.A?"

"Equestrian army."

"Ooohhh!"

"But why you as Commander?"

Celestia walked over to Rainbow. "Not only is she skillful in flight, but in sword fighting. She is even better than me. It's her second talent."

"But a pony can't have two talents, can they?"

"Oh Twilight, my dear student. Of course a pony can have two talents. Maybe even more. Fluttershy's main talent is caring for animals but she is as skillful as Rarity at sewing. Applejack's main talent is working for her farm but she is an excellent baker. Rarity is a creator of fine dresses and she is a good artist. Pinkie keeps everypony happy but she's also good at helping out. You are brilliant at magic and you are a very smart pony."

"Okay I get your point. But who are we at war with?"

"Daily-diamonds." Luna flew over to join the conversation. "A dark country far away. Named after a diamond cave. But they use dark magic."

"Daily-diamonds?! How come I've never heard of this country? I mean, I've read every book in my library...3 times!"

"They erased themselves from history. Never to be heard of."

"But why do they want to go to war with us?" Applejack asked

"They want to overthrow us. Murder every stallion, mare and foal. Burn every house. Bring back Discord. They don't believe in our good magic. Only dark."

"Gosh. Rainbow, looks like you've got your with cut out, dear." Commented Rarity.

"Don't you think I know that!" Rainbow snapped. "This morning while you were enjoying your breakfasts, my sector were trying to stop them coming inside the border." Her head drooped. "But we failed. I failed."

"Rainbow don't fret." Celestia soothed.

"Horseshoe village burnt and died because of me!"

"Rainbow, you were badly injured. You were lucky to survive."

"Hmmm."

"Woah. Ya mean tha Rainbow... nearly died?"

"Yes Applejack. They ambushed us. Using dark magic against us. We were no match. I tried to stop the leader of the attack, lieutenant Sparks, but he was to quick. He forced me watch as his soldiers slay everypony there." A tear rolled down her cheek.

"If I may inquire, where were you injured?" Rarity questioned. Celestia use her magic to point at every wound.

"A broken left hoof, mangled right wing, scar across left eye, numerous cuts and a stab wound to her right hip." Celestia's magic pressed against Rainbow hip. Rainbow winced and breathed in through her teeth.

Her friends looked away as they saw blood seeping through Rainbow's uniform. Rainbow collapsed onto the floor. Luna zapped up some bandages and gave them to Celestia. Celestia then wrapped the bandages around Rainbow's wound.

"Commander, you cannot go on like this."

"But Equestria...."

"Rainbow you've collapsed three times today."

"I'm fine!" Rainbow shakily stood up. But something or somepony caught her eye outside.

"Hmmm." Celestia stood up and walked towards the door.

"Wait!" Rainbow threw her sword and shot straight through an arrow, and pinned it against the wall.

"By god! Good shot!" Luna said.

"Still think I'm too ill to do my duty."  Celestia stood there gobsmacked but it wasn't for long when she realized what was on the arrow.

The Letter

Celestia stared hard at the arrow and used her magic to unravel the letter on it. Rainbow walked towards her and grabbed her sword. Celestia's eyes scanned the letter.

"Well?"

Celestia read the letter aloud. "Hello Commander Dash and Princess Celestia. I guess you've got my letter. I hired the best archer to aim at you Celestia but I know that Commander would protect you by using her sword. She's very good with that sword, I'll be careful. So how did you like my sneak attack? I'm sure those ponies would of wanted you to help them, wouldn't they Commander? But you just watched. How helpless you are. I thought that you were a good swordspony. Seems like you were no match. I'm now choosing a place to attack next. I'll see you soon Celestia, and you, Commander Rainbow Miriam Dash. Ta Ta for now. Sir A.N."

"How the hell does he know my full name? Not even Twilight knows my middle name!"

"He has his ways. Rainbow let me look at your sword." Rainbow pulled out her sword.

It was a pure silver rapier sword with gems across the handle resembling a rainbow. It also had R.M.D carved onto it. Rainbow's intials.

A yellow glow surrounded the sword. It began to sizzle and pop. Then blinding light shot out. Everyone covered their eyes in protection. When Celestia had finished she handed it to Luna and the same thing happened. The sword was done.

The sword was glimmering gold with diamonds on the handle. Carved on the handle was Rainbow's full name. Carved on the blade was 'FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC'.

"This sword is made from the suns gold and midnight diamonds. It should now protect you from dark magic. It can also use the elements of harmony's magic when it suspects an over power of dark magic."

"Wow! It beautiful!"

"Well, diamonds and gold always go together, that's why most of my dresses are gold and diamond." Rarity commented.

"Now, Rainbow Dash. We now need to plan about these attacks." Celestia walked over to a table that held a map of Equestria. The others followed.

"I'll get at least 30 soldiers guarding every town, city and village. I'll will protect Ponyville myself with my best soldiers."

"Why protect Ponyville more?" Luna asked.

"I have a gut feeling that he'll attack there."

The girls left and Rainbow Dash went to order the soldiers.

Half an later, everypony in Ponyville was surrounding Town Hall. All were muttering away.

"Please ponies calm down. We have an important announcement to make. Rainbow Dash, if you please." Mayor Mare stood to the side as Rainbow came on.

"Okay everypony. Rumors say that Equestria is at war. Unfortunately, it's true." Everypony gasped. "That is why I am here. I am the Commander of the Equestrian Army. Therefore I'll be protecting Ponyville. But if there is an attack, I want you to go to your cellars and basements and stay there. It's important that you do this as the opposition is a ruthless killer. Questions?" Everypony just stood there. Still shocked by the news. But one hoof crept upwards. It Diamond Tiara's dad, Filthy Rich.

"Yes there's war, but why should we trust you? For all we know this could be a prank."

"You want proof?! Why don't you go to Horseshoe Village, I'm sure the blood stained roads is enough proof. Besides, do you really think I'll stab myself. I don't think so. But if you don't want to believe me that's fine. Just don't ask me to help you while your blood spreads through your floor. Celestia and I want to protect Equestria, and I'll die for Equestria's and your safety." Rainbow walked of the stage leaving a gobsmacked crowd behind.

Sir Artist Night

An elder turquoise blue pegasus with red and orange hair stood in front of a oak table. He wore a black jacket and a grey tie. His cutie mark, a quill and note pad. He was an author. Well, he used to be. On his right stood a slightly younger pegasus. He was a lime green with orange hair. His cutiemark was a group of sparks. He was a weather pony who specializes in storm clouds.

"So sir, where shall we plan to attack next? Manehatten? Canterlot?"

"Ponyville."

"Ponyville?! That puny place. But why?"

"Oh my dear lieutenant. Don't you see?"

"See what sir?"

"We are masters of dark magic. The lords of darkness. But the only thing that can stop us is the Elements of Harmony."

"But weren't they lost after Celestia banished Nightmare Moon to the moon?"

"No. They were never lost. They were in the souls of six ponies. We know they are based in Ponyville, but we don't know who the ponies are. Except one."

"Who is it, sir?"

"Dear Commander Dash, of course. She's the element of loyalty."

"Sir, if I may ask, how do you know about her so well? I mean you've never seen her."

"Or you may think. That beautiful young pegasus was once my friend. Now she is only my enemy."

"What happened?"

"Why must you ask so many questions?" Artist ruffled lieutenant Sparks hair.

*sigh* "It was about ten years ago...."




"Come on Rainbow! We're late for the Wonderbolts!" Yelled out a young Artist Night.

"Alright! I'm coming! Don't get your mane in twist. Or shall I say paint pallet!"

"Knock it off, Rainbow! I'm only called Artist after my father. I not really good at art."

"Yadda, yadda. I know. Now come on don't you want Thunderclap's autograph!"

"Hmmmm! Hey why don't you ever bring Fluttershy along?"

"She's either feeding her animals down in Ponyville or too scared of her shadow to come out!"

"Why did she go to Ponyville?"

"Why do you ask some many questions? I dunno something about her new talent."

A low voice called from behind.

"Hey look guys! Artist and Rainbow are having a argument. Don't do that Rainbow, you don't want to break up do you?"

"Bugger off, Billy!"

"Ooooo! Watch out Billy! This cat has got claws!"

"Shut it, Hoops!"

"So Artist. How's Rainbow in bed?"

"For the last time! We are just friends!" Artist yelled.

"Yeah sure you are. That's what they all say! Come on boys! Let's go to the Wonderbolt's stadium!"

"Artist and Rainbow, sitting on a cloud. K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" They sang as they flew away.

"Why if I get my hooves on them, I'll-"

"Leave it Rainbow. They aren't worth it."

"Artist, are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine!"

"No your not! Come on I know what will cheer you up!"

"But the Wonder-"

"There'll be other shows. My friends come first."

"Okay"

"Rainbow, why are we at the Weather Factory?"

"For a visit, silly!"

"Really? But ain't it really expensive?"

"My dad owns it, remember? Everypony in there know me and let me in for free."

"I dunno."

"Come on, Artist! It'll be okay. Celestia isn't gonna send you to the moon!"

"Fine!"




"Wow! So that's how they make snowflakes. Oooo! Can we go to the clouds being made?"

"Yeah sure. This way."

"Woah! This is awesome! Can I make some cloud?"

"I don't know. My dad says leave the machines alone." Artist's face fell.

"Okay." He said disappointedly.

"Buuuttttt. What he doesn't know won't hurt him!"

"Thank you Rainbow!"

The two young ponies poked and pointed, trying to work out how to work the machines.

"Ooooo. What about this button?"

"I dunno Dash. It doesn't look like a good button."

"Of course its a good button. It's big, red and shiny." Rainbow pushed the button. Nothing. She pushed it again. And again and again. Still nothing.

"Stupid machine! Come on Artist! The lightning will be more exciting!"

Just as they began to leave, sparks flew out of the cloud machine. It shuddered and shook. Suddenly there's a large bang.

"Aaahhh!"

"QUICK! GET OUT!!"

"SOMEPONY HELP!"

"AAAAHHH!" The factory was alight. Pegasi were flying towards exits or helping others.

"Artist! ARTIST!"

"Rainbow!" Rainbow Dash flew over to a lump of cloud. A shivering Artist was sat behind it.

"Artist, come," *cough*, "on!" Smoke filled the room. Choking the ponies around it.

"I'm coming!" Artist fluttered up. He and Rainbow flew and ran around trying to find a door. Suddenly...

BASH!

"ARTIST!" Artist was buried under a mixture of thick cloud and heavy machinery.

"Artist," *cough,cough*, "Speak to me." Rainbow croaked. There was nothing she could do. She was trapped in a flaming building with her friend buried. She thought he was dead.

"I'm sorry, Artist." She tried to leave but she collapsed. She started to cry. In fear of her life.

Meanwhile, Artist was in fact alive. Just really sore. He could faintly hear Rainbow crying. He tried to get up but his body failed to. Then he saw Rainbow get up.

"I'm sorry, Artist. I did love you. But now you dead. I'm sorry." She ran out of sight.

Artist tried screaming. Nothing came out. His body heated up due to the intense heat. His best friend abandoned him. He was stuck under numerous heavy objects. He was going to die. At least he thought.

"Wow, sir! What happened next?"

"I managed to wriggle free and climbed out a window. Unfortunately, I fell. I fell to the ground. Landed in Daily-Diamonds. I was taken in. Fed. Bathed. Then I stayed."

"But what about your family and Rainbow?"

"I was an orphan. And Rainbow...Rainbow...RAINBOW!" He punched the wall. "Please leave, Sparks. I need to be alone."

"Okay sir. Are we still attacking Ponyville tonight?"

"Yes. Yes we are." The door closed.

The attack

It was midnight. Luna's moon and stars glistened in the sky like jewels. A cool breeze swam through the mid-summer heat. Fillies and colts wrapped up in bed, dreaming up ways to cause mischief. Or to three certain fillies, how to get their cutiemarks. All was quiet in Ponyville.

It is a shame that this beautiful night will be wasted.

Rainbow Dash paced around the main street. It was full of empty carts, ready for the market tomorrow. She saw at least five of her soldiers guarding the main street with her.

Twilight and Spike sat down with Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie Pie. Pinkie, Spike and Fluttershy fell asleep. Curled up against each other. The others stayed awake. Too scared to fall asleep. They looked out the window, staring at Rainbow Dash. Why? Was the question that wrapped their heads. Equestria. The land of peace and harmony. At war.

Somepony signaled Rainbow. A mysterious glow was coming closer and closer. Rainbow ran to town hall where somepony rang a bell.

DONG. DONG. DONG.

Twilight and the girls shot up. They were coming. The girls opened the door to the cellar and hid. Just as told. But the feared for the other friends. But most of all, Rainbow.

Pegasi, unicorns dressed in black armor entered the town. They stopped a few meters away from Rainbow. From deep inside the crowd, a pegasus emerged. It was Sir Artist Night.

Rainbow stood there gobsmacked. "Ar...Ar...Artist?!"

"Why yes Rainbow. It's me. Your good, old pal." He flew straight at Rainbow, pinning her down.

"I thought you were dead."

"That's what you would of thought!" He was just about to stab her when she kicked him in the ribs.

"You...you monster! Your doing this?! How could you?"

"I was betrayed by somepony I trusted the most."

"So this is revenge?! It's pretty low, but that sounds like you!"

Artist grabbed his sword and aimed at Rainbow. Rainbow grabbed her newly designed sword. They both clashed.

Twilight got more worried by the minute. There was no screaming and yelling but the was clashing and clanging.

"Twilight, where are you going?" Rarity asked.

"I'm worried about Rainbow."

"Ah agree with ya."

"I don't know. Rainbow said to stay here." Fluttershy whispered.

"Come she's our friend!" Pinkie jumped up towards the door.

"Why??" Artist hit Rainbow.

"Why what?!" She said through clenched teeth. He plunged a small dagger into the side of her chest.

The girls gasped. They just saw Rainbow... get stabbed.

"RAINBOW DASH!!"

"And to think I loved you!" She bucked him back.

"You aren't worth it. Soldiers back. We attack Canterlot tomorrow!"

"Pathetic! Running away again!"

"Just you wait, Rainbow. Next time I will kill you!"

"But first you've got to catch me first!" She threw the dagger that lay on the floor. It hit Artist in the flank.

"Aaah! Swear to the darkest of nights, Rainbow Miriam Dash. I will bloody kill you!" His soldiers went away and he flew away.

Rainbow's friends ran over to her.

"Rainbow are you okay?"

"He's alive."

"Wha?! Rainbow we need ta get ya ta a hospital!" Applejack urged.

Rainbow just breathed heavily. She closed her eyes.

"Dashie?"

Rainbow sighed and picked up her sword. She then flew away.

"Dashie?"

"Come on girls. I guess she's going to see Celestia." They walked away.

"Are they gone?" Mayor mare called out.

"Yes."

"Oh thank Celestia. Thank Rainbow Dash."

The girls just walked away.

Any Plans?

"Rainbow, calm down! You need to sit down!" Celestia called out, but the stressed out pegasus ignored her.

"Why didn't I just kill him?"

"Rainbow."

"This wouldn't have happened if I helped him from the fire."

"Rainbow Dash!"

"Urg! Why him?"

"Rainbow Miriam Dash!"

"I mean it could of been anyone, but why him? If I could get my hooves round his neck I'll-"

"RAINBOW MIRIAM DASH! THOU SHALT SHUT UP!" Luna yelled grabbing the attention of flustered mare.

"Ummmm. Thank you, Luna! Now Rainbow, you need to calm down." Celestia urged.

"How can I calm down?! Canterlot is going to be destroyed!"

"Now ya don't know tha."

"YES I DO APPLEJACK! TWO MORE VILLAGES HAVE BEEN BURNT, PONYVILLE WAS ABOUT TO AND NOW CANTERLOT IS GOING TO BE BURNT! THERE'S NO POINT KEEPING ME! I WON'T PROTECT EQUESTRIA, I PROBABLY JUST BURN IT MYSELF!"

"Rainbow, please don't do this to your self. Out of the letters Twilight has given me I-"

"Speaking of letters- burp!" A black flame came from Spikes mouth.

"Eep! It's black! It could be something bad!" Fluttershy hid behind Rainbow.

"What does it say?"

"Oh dear!"

"What?!"

Spike stared just blankly, not responding. Twilight levitated the letter and read it aloud.

"Hello again my dear friends.

I would say some more nice things but, I've got a deal to propose.

If you you let me kill Rainbow Dash and I'll make peace with Equestria. But I will only make peace if you give me Rainbow Dash. Until then, goodbye." Everyone just stood there. Too shocked.

"I'll do it!"

"WHAT?!"

"No Dashie! I don't want you to go." Pinkie hugged Rainbow in an attempt to stop her.

"I'm sorry, Pinkie."

Fluttershy then joined the hug.

"Please don't, Rainbow. You've been my friend since flight camp. You like the sister I never had. Please Rainbow." Fluttershy started to cry.

Tears came from Rainbow too. "I don't want to. But if I don't, Equestria will be in peril." All of Rainbow's friends joined the hug.

Suddenly Spike burped again.

"Ewww! Spike!" Rarity said.

"It's another one!" Spike belched up another letter. Luna took hold of it. She read it aloud.

"Do you know what? I want to watch you suffer Rainbow. I want you to beg to me for your life. Since you are a swordspony I would rather like to duel. That way you live for a couple more minutes. We will fight in the Canterlot stadium. Tomorrow at noon. TTFN. Ta Ta For Now. What an evil jerk!" Luna commented.

"Luna!"

"What?"

Celestia gave Luna a hard stare.

"But he is."

Celestia shook her head.

The five hugging mares were relieved by this news. But they still might lose Rainbow.

"Oh Dashie! You're going to be alive!"

"I'm not sure."

"Whatcha mean Rainbow?"

"Well, he put up a really good fight last night. I'm really worried."

Twilight lay a hoof on Rainbow's shoulder.

"Rainbow, you can do this. The Rainbow I know doesn't back down from a challenge. No matter how big or small. Your strong, confident, brash and you've got us. Like you said a couple of days ago, we're your family. We will be there for you."

"Aww. Thanks guys!" Rainbow removed herself from the hug and walked towards the window.

It was beautiful outside. Celestia's sun was lightly rising. It gave off a summer glow. Down below she saw Canterlot. Ponies rushing around the streets, some at cafes and some admiring the view. But far off in the distance, she saw a little town. Ponyville. The streets full of colourful fruits and vegetables, the scent of freshly baked goods, the cool breeze, the green fields... She was so close from losing it all.

"Rainbow?" Fluttershy asked.

"Come on girls, let's leave her for a bit. She needs her space." Luna said as she and Celestia left.

The others left too. What will happen tomorrow? They just hope they don't lose their rainbow.

The doors closed. Leaving a fustrated Pegasus behind. Why?, was the only thing in her head. But it was no time for pointless questions, it was time to get ready.

To fight for Equestria. For Ponyville. For her friends, her family.

Rainbow Dash opened the grand doors and left.

The Fight

Twilight and the girls stood curiously at the Canterlot Stadium.

"Ooo. What will happen if Rainbow loses? It's got to be so scary for her." Fluttershy commented.

"Come on girls! We'll give her the support she needs! Rainbow is going to win!" Twilight said to cheer everypony up.

Rainbow was trotting up to the entrance. She wore a new, clean uniform. Still a musky blue but slightly brighter. Her modified sword was held in her belt along with a small black dagger.

Pinkie ran up Rainbow, hugging her in the process.

"Awww. Pinkie, it wil be okay." Rainbow gave a hug back.

"So Rainbow, are ya ready?" Applejack questioned as Rainbow came closer.

"Yes. Unfortunately." The girls entered the stadium were the others sat down.

The stadium was like the ones they used to have in Romane times. Twilight read a lot about them. How in those times, they were used for gladiator fights.

The girls sat on the front row seats while Rainbow went to the Princess. How they wished that she wouldn't die. Without her there wouldn't be the Elements of Harmony. But it wasn't that. It was how they stuck together, like a family.

A pony in a red waist coat came out and blew a horn.

"Will everypony please be silent!" Everyone imediatly. He carried on. "And now I had it over to our great rulers, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna!" The sound of hoofs clapping filled the stadium as he said the two names.

Celestia spoke with elegance. "Today we are going to witness a fight between two great leaders, between good and evil, light and dark. Our peaceful country verses a dark, far country. I welcome you the leader of the Daily-Diamond Army, Sir Artist Night."

Boos from Equestrian ponies came pouring down onto Artist. But they were balanced as cheers came from the Daily-Diamonds who came to watch.

"We also have our Commander, of the Equestrian army, Rainbow Miriam Dash."

There were more cheers than boos. Even Fluttershy was yelling her name, like when Rainbow was at the Best Young Fliers competition.

But this was no talent show.

The two ponies walked up to the pony in the red waist coat.

"Okay, this is a sword fight. It could be to the death, but that's your choice. Other weapons can be used but mainly you sword. Okay, are you ready?"

"Indeed." Artist replied.

Rainbow looked over her shoulder to see her friends. If she doesnt win this she would never see them again. She was ready. To win.

"Yes."

The red waist coat pony left. Both oppositions wipped out their swords.

"Well Rainbow. Ready to have your blood spilled."

"You didn't have to ask." Both their swords clashed. The fight had begun.

For a good five minutes, neither sides showed signs of giving up. Swords clanging and clashing. If the onlookers watched carefully they would see that Rainbow was more smooth in her movement then Artist. A true sign of a good swordspony.

Suddenly, Artist lost his balance- throwing his sword in the making. It was lost among the crowd. Rainbow took the advantage and aimed at him.

Lieutenant Sparks saw his leader failing, so grabbed a near by double sided axe. He threw it to Artist who quickly scampered to get it.

Artist waved madly at Rainbow, but Rainbow dodged quickly.

Then, Artist waved his weapon at Rainbow but instead of hitting her, it flung her sword straight at a pillar near her friends.

"Ha! Got you now, you little cow!" He was about to wack Rainbow but she flew upwards. Missing the blow completely.

"Damn it! When I get you, I'll hack those wings off!" He yelled.

Rainbow flew to her sword which was sticking out of the pillar. She tugged at it but it didn't budge. Artist grabbed her tail and dragged her down.

"Eep!"

Rainbow kicked him, but missed. She then remembered her dagger. She pulled it out and threw it at Artist. It hit him in the fore-leg.

"Aaahhh! You're so dead!"

Rainbow ignored him, and went to her sword again.

The girls saw her struggling to get her sword. Twilight grew more and more worried. Twilight saw Artist get up. She used her magic to help Rainbow.

Rainbow pulled at her sword. No hope. Then she saw a pink glow around it. She recognised it. She looked up at Twilight. The sword popped out.

Artist charged at Rainbow, but was stopped by her sword. She bucked him in the chest, which sent him stumbling back.

Rainbow Dash yelled to Twilight, "Thank you!"

Twilight felt happy that she helped her friend out. She looked upwards to Celestia who nodded and smile.

Artist saw this and grabbed a near by weapon. It was a bow and a razor sharp arrow. He aimed it at Twilight. And fired.

Twilight was talking to Pinkie (or telling her off) so she didn't see the incoming arrow. But Rainbow did.

"Twi! Look out!" Applejack yelled. Twilight turned her head to see the arrow coming straight towards her. She was frozen to the spot. She could only close her eyes and whimper. Gasps came from the ponies around her. But she couldn't feel any pain. She opened her eyes to see... Rainbow hovering in front of her.

Blood dripped down Rainbows waist. The arrow had gone straight through her flesh. She fluttered down back to the ground.

The girls frantically looked at Rainbow, then Celestia.

"Please Tia. She's going to die. Stop the fight." Luna urged.

"I'm sorry, Luna. But this is out of my hooves. Either one of them dies or they call it off." Celestia sulked.

Luna flew over to Twilight.

"I'm sorry."

"But Luna."

"It's not our choice to end it." The girls just stared at Rainbow.

Rainbow lay there. Spluttering and coughing up blood. She hurt bad. She missed laying on cloud. Dreaming of the Wonderbolts. Or helping Fluttershy. Or Pinkie. Reading books in the libary. Challenging Applejack.

"Very loyal of you Rainbow." Artist said.

"Aah. Why? Why are you doing this?" Rainbow struggled to get up.

Artist bent over so his eyes were level with her. "Because somepony I loved left me when I needed her the most." He was about to stab her when somepony was yelling.

Rainbow's friends crying and hugging. Pinkie was yelling.

"NO! DASHIE PLEASE! NO! DON'T KILL HER!"

Artist turned away from Rainbow, which was a bad idea.

She bucked him. Making him face plant the ground. She fluttered up slowly. Hovering just above the ground.

"You're dead!" He flew up to Rainbow who flew up higher.

Higher and higher, they flew.

Artist hit Rainbow in the face. Then kicked her. She then fell. She tried flapping her wings but they stung. Closer and closer the ground got. She then positioned her wings against her body. She then saw Artist. Trying to hit her again. But he didnt see a light cone around her.

Fastet and faster she got.

"Come on!" She urged herself.

Suddenly, a giant crack then a ring of colours. A sonic rainboom!

But Artist was too close. He was knocked out from the force. This time he fell.

Artist thumped to the ground while Rainbow unsteadily landed.

He got up slowly and croaked, "This fight is finished!"

"Giving up this easily?! I'm only getting started!"

"The fight has finished but the battle is far from over." Her slowly trotted to Rainbow and whispered in her ear. "Canterlot is going to be gone by the end of the week."

He then left. Lieutenant Sparks helping him from falling. Other soldiers from his army followed.

Rainbow's friends ran down to see her but as they got there she collapsed. Blood seeping from every wound.

"Somepony! Help! She needs medical attention!"

Suddenly, a gold and blue glow surrounded them. Then they were gone.

Are You Okay?

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The sound all the girls were used to. Countless trips to the Ponyville Hospital due to Rainbow crashing or Applejack over working herself. But today, they hated that noise.

"Oh Celestia. Will she be okay?" The girls asked.

"So far. But she is badly injured."

In Canterlot castle guest room (which was now full of hospital items) , were the girls and the Princesses. Laying in a white bed was Rainbow Dash. Her mane and coat still dirty with mud and blood. Her uniform hung on a chair near by. It was clean again, thanks to Rarity who sewed it and washed it. Wires clung to the pegasus. An oxygen mask was fitted over her snout. Her chest slowly rising and falling.

"How hurt is Dashie?" Pinkie's hair was becoming more straight by the minute.

Luna picked up a clipboard. It glowed blue. "Umm. She's err... Let's see. Punctured lung, stab wounds, loss of blood, broken bones,-"

"Thank ya, Princess." Applejack gazed over to the Pegasus. "Wha kinda monster is he? Ta do tha ta Rainbow."

"At least we got her in time. We could have lost her completely." Twilight said.

Pinkie burst into tears. Her hair completely straight. Fluttershy went over to her to comfort her. But it only made her cry too.

"Th-thank you. Thank you Celestia. Thank you Luna. For get her here." Fluttershy sobbed.

"We saw that she was in need. Also Twilight, I think when Rainbow wakes up, she would be thanking you. If you didn't use your magic to help her who knows what would of happened." Twilight nodded at Celestia.

Suddenly, Rainbow's wings twitched. Then she moved her hooves. Her eyes slowly flickered open. She removed the oxygen mask and coughed.

"Urg. Feels like I've got a hangover." She croaked.

At that point, the sobbing Pinkie bounced up. Her hair blew back into it's cotton candy floss state.

"DASHIE! YOU'RE OKAY! OMIGOSH! I SHOULD DO A 'YOU ARE BETTER' PARTY! WITH CAKE AND PUNCH AN-" A zip formed from her lips and closed, tightly.

"Rainbow Dash?"

"Yep! That's my name, don't wear it out!" She smiled weakly.

"Oh Rainbow you are okay!"

Rainbow gently fluttered out of the bed. Hissed as she stood on her left fore leg.

"Rainbow, ya need ta rest."

"Resting ain't exactly going to stop Artist."

"Rainbow, are you sure you are well enough?" Celestia asked.

"If I can see an archer outside who's about to fire, then yep."

Everypony looked out the window to see a pony run off. An arrow stuck in the curtain, held a message.

Rainbow grabbed the letter and read it. If there was anything to read!

"It's blank!"

"What?!"

"It's blank. Nothing on it!"

"But why would Artist send us a blank message?" Then Rainbow sniffed the air. Her eyes opened wide.

"To distract us!"

Suddenly, a giant blast burst the doors. Flames flickered everywhere.

"Fire?! But why would he set the castle on fire?"

Twilight then realised why.

"THE ELEMENTS!" A pink glow surrounded her. Bling. She was gone.

Twilight ran through the flames to the chamber where the Elements were kept.

The door was hanging off it's hinges.

"No!"

A figure approached Twilight.

"Well, well, well. Isn't it the pony who helped Rainbow. And ruined Sir's chances of winning."

"GIVE ME BACK THE ELEMENTS!"

"Hmmm. What about, no!" He flew out a window, still holding the box full of necklaces and a crown.

When Twilight looked out the window, she saw half of Canterlot alight.

"Oh no!"

She then saw a rainbow streak come to the window.

"Twilight! Quickly! This place is about to fall!"

Instead of waiting for a response, Rainbow grabbed Twilight's hoof. The ceiling gave way.

"Thanks Rainbow!"

"And thank you."

"What for?"

"Earlier. You helped me even though it was against the rules."

Rainbow was now wearing her uniform and belt again.

The others joined them outside.

"This is horrible!" Luna exclaimed.

"Indeed."

Rarity turned to look away from the burning chaos. She squinted as she saw a hooded figure.

"Rainbow dear." Rainbow turned around and also saw the figure. She lifted her dagger and threw it.

Direct hit.

"Who was tha?"

"That Applejack, is Lieutenant Sparks."

The girls walked over to Sparks, who was trying to make a bandage for his wing.

"So,"

Sparks jumped up.

"Doing Artist's dirty work, are we?"

"Ummmm."

"A simple nod will do."

Sparks nodded.

"Are you going to tell me his plans?"

Sparks nodded. "Wait! What?!"

"Ha! Such a simple mind for a high ranked pony. I laugh!"

The others looked at each. Rainbow was talking quite posh. Which doesn't happen all the time since she's cool. She usually uses slang.

"I won't tell you anything!"

"Hm. Is that so?" Rainbow walked over to Sparks and pulled out the dagger.

"Yow! Um...thanks?"

"You won't be thanking me in the minute."

"Wha-" He was unable to finish as Rainbow pressed on his injured wing.

"Ow! Ow!"

"Now are you going to tell me?"

"Ow! No!"

"Thought you would say that." She took the dagger an carefully cut under his wing.

"Owww! You're crazy!"

"No, Pinkie is crazy!" The dagger went deeper.

"Ow! Okay! I'll speak! I'll speak!"  Rainbow release her dagger from his wing.

"Wow! I'm impressed! You are actually going to tell me his plans."

"Well, I never wanted to join him. But he threatened to kill my family. I hated it. But when he told me about you and him, I felt sorry for him."

"You felt sorry for him?!"

"Umm. Yea."

"Hmmm. And he threatened to kill your family?"

"Yes."

"Where are they?"

"Manehatten. Ow!" He rubbed his wing.

"Oh dear. Hang on. CRIMSON!" She beckoned over a scarlet unicorn mare with violet eyes and mane.

"Yes Commander."

"Take him," she pointed to Sparks, "To a hospital or medical tent. And make sure that he is well guarded."

"Why don't you trust me?" Sparks asked.

"Since you have joined me, he would be after you now."

"Can you get my family? And protect them?"

"Yes. It's my duty to keep innocents safe."

"I will."

"Pardon?!" Rainbow confused by his response.

"You said I wouldn't be thanking you, but I am."

Rainbow smiled. "You're not as simple as I thought."

Crimson took Sparks away.

Rainbow turned around to find that most of the flames had gone. Ponies were rushing around finding loved ones and lost items.

"At least no pony died."

But what the girls didn't realize was that this was the calm before the storm.

Artist's Argument

"Where is he?"

"Who?"

"Sparks!"

"Huh?!"

"Sent him and some soldiers to set fire to Canterlot Castle and get the Elements of Harmony."

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.

"Enter."

"Um Sir?"

"What is it? Where's Sparks?"

"Ummmm."

"Tell me NOW!"

"I don't think you'll like it."

"COLADA! TELL ME NOW!"

"He's joined Rainbow."

"What?!"

"Pardon?!"

"He was injured and then joined Rainbow."

"!"

"Sir?"

"Leave now!"

"Yes sir!"Colada left before he yelled again.

"THAT SCOUNDREL!"

"Sir please calm down." A unicorn pony sat next to Artist. He was white with blue hair.

"No, Breezer! He's joined her! Her!"

"I know, but calm down."

"I so want to kill him! And her!"

"Sir please."

"Hmm."

"What?"

"Nothing."

"Saying nothing means something."

"No it doesn't."

"You're thinking about her. Rainbow."

"Yes." Artist whispered. "I never wanted to hurt her. I just her to-to." A tear ran down his cheek.

"Why don't you go to her?"

"Not now. She'll hate. She already does." His head drooped.

"Send her message."

"Why?"

"Tell her to meet you in a secret location."

"Hmmm. That does sound like a good idea." Artist grabbed a quill and paper.


BACK AT CANTERLOT.

"He wants to what?"

The mane six and Princesses were in the lunar side of the castle. The side that wasn't destroyed by the fire.

"Meet me near the Everfree Forest at nine at night. Be sharp. Signed Eye Artist Night."

"Ah wonder wha he wants."

"I'll tell you Applejack. He wants to burn the forest. He wants me dead."

"Rainbow, for all we know it could be peace that he wants."

"Peace?! Now?!"

"Listen Rainb-"

"No!"

"What?"

"Stop telling to listen!"

"We're only helping."

"I know." Rainbow started banging her head on the table.

"Oh Rainbow. Stop doing that. That is if you don't mind." Fluttershy squeaked.

"What time is it now?"

"Quarter to nine."

"I'll be back soon." Rainbow left.

"Oh, I do hope she'll be okay."

"This is Rainbow we are talking about."

You Wanted To Meet Up

Artist stood by the outside of the Everfree Forest. A figure came closer. It was Rainbow.

"So you chose to come?"

"Obviously, if I'm standing right here." Rainbow said in a sarcastic tone.

"I've always loved your attitude."

"What?!"

"Rainbow, I'm sorry. About this. The war. It was stupid of me to use war as revenge on you. Can you forgive me?"

"You're kidding!"

"No Rainbow."

"!"

"Please. I love you!"

"You-you-"

"I'm sorry I hurt you."

"Hurt me?! You nearly killed me."

Artist looked at the sky.

Luna's moon was shimmering down, along with million stars. They lit up the dark sky. A warm breeze blew through the trees, making them whistle.

"Lovely night isn't Dash."

"Err yeah."

"Hmm."

"Is this some kind of trick?"

"What?"

"Is this an ambush or a trap?"

"No Rainbow."

"I don't believe you."

"I love you, Rainbow." He came closer to her so their noses were touching.

He pulled her closer into a passionate kiss.

Rainbow tried to pull out but she stayed. She like this. A lot.

How long she waited for this.

She eventually broke free from his lips.

"I'm sorry!" And she zoomed away.

Artist just stood there, watching the rainbow ribbon fade away. He sulked.

"I don't deserve her. She doesn't love me." And he flew away too.

Rainbow flew and landed in the Lunar Hall. She hoped no pony was there, but there was.

"Howdy Rainbow!"

"So, how did it go?" Luna asked.

"What go?"

"To meet Artist."

"umm. He didn't...turn up." Rainbow hoped that she would buy it.

Luna raised an eyebrow.

Rainbow trotted over to the balcony. She opened the glass doors and went out. She carefully closed the doors, as her friends and Celestia were asleep.

She sat down and sighed. She gazed up at the stars. Artist was right. It was a lovely night.

Luna entered the balcony. Being quite so she didn't disturb the pegasus.

"You did a lovely job tonight, Luna."

"Thank you." Luna never got a thank you for her night. Only from her sister but it wasn't the same.

"It's a shame ponies take advantage of it. It's so beautiful." Rainbow said this without taking her eyes off the moon.

"You have feelings for him, don't you?"

"How could you tell?"

"When you came back, I excepted you to be more angry and fustrated. But you seemed dreamy."

While Luna and Rainbow were talking, Celestia stirred awake. She found five mares cuddled around each other. And then she saw Luna and Rainbow outside.

"I just don't know what to do."

"Are you two okay?"

They both turned round to see Celestia behind them.

"Luna lower your moon. It's time for dawn."

"Okay Tia." The moon gently lowered and the stars faded.

Orange, yellow, red and blue. The colours of the morning.

"I will be resting now, sister." Luna nuzzeled Celestia.

"Have a good rest then."

Celestia walked closer to Rainbow and sat down.

"Rainbow, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Princess."

"No you are not. From what I overheard, you still love him."

"He kissed me."

"So that was the meeting? Yes. He also said he wants to make peace with Equestria."

"And with you."

"I guess."

"Are you willing to give him another chance?"

"I don't know. I've always loved him. But when I thought he was dead." She burst into tears.

The five sleeping ponies woke up to hear crying. They scanned the room only to find themselves and a sleeping Luna. They looked out the glass doors to see Celestia and Rainbow.

"I thought I would never find love."

Celestia tried hushing the upset mare.

"I know it sound crummy coming from me, but I get jealous at the happy couples. Even after Twilight's brother's wedding." Rainbow wiped the tears from her eyes.

"It's not cool to cry. If Applejack saw me, she'll never live it down."

"Yea ah would."

"Dashie, why are you crying?"

"It's nothing."

"Rainbow dear, you don't have to lie." Rarity ensured.

"You like Artist, don't you?"

Rainbow nodded in response.

"After that fight in Ponyville, when I found out he was alive... I don't know. I felt happy that he was alive, but upset that he didn't come back. Also I knew that he would be mad at me. For not helping him in the fire."

"Oh Rainbow. Out of all of us, you have love problems."

"It's not a problem."

"So how are you going to sort it out?"

"I..."

"Rainbow,"

"Just go away."

"But..."  Rarity couldn't finish as Rainbow flew away.

"Girls, for today, I think you should leave Rainbow for a bit."

"But, Celestia-"

"No buts, Twilight. Rainbow is going through an emotional stage."

"Yes Princess."

"No off you go. I'm sure you are all hungry."

At that point, all their stomachs rumbled.

"Luna wil be downstairs waiting. I'm sure she has woken up from her nap."

They all looked inside to see Luna still asleep on her side. Her legs dangled off the side of her bed and her midnight, waving blue hair lay spread out on her pillow. Her hair sparkled as the sun's light shone in. She looked so cute.

"Or maybe Luna won't be waiting downstairs."

The girls giggled as Celestia pulled the blanket over her sister. "Sleep tight, Princess of the night."

Stop This War

It was noon. And Celestia's sun beamed down.

Canterlot and The Castle were now fixed and cleaned up. Ponies could hardy tell that there had been a fire.

Luna trotted down the corridor to the Solar Hall. There she saw her sister sipping at a hovering cup of tea.

"Hello Luna. Have a nice nap."

"Yes Tia."

Celestia resumed drinking her tea. "Luna, have you seen Twilight and the girls?"

"Umm, yes."

"Great. Where were they?"

"Going to the guest room."

Celestia stopped. "Which guest room?"

"Rainbow's, I think."

Celestia quickly got up and trotted to the door.

"Thank you Luna."

"What is going on?"

"I told Twilight to leave Rainbow alone for today."

"Oh dear." Luna sat down and poured herself some tea.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.

"Rainbow?"

"Dashie?"

The girls creaked the door open. "Rainbow Dash?"

Nothing. The room was empty.

"Girls!"

"Eep!" Fluttershy leapt up and hid behind Applejack.

"Celestia! Good-good afternoon." Twilight said.

"Girls, I'm disappointed. I told you to leave Rainbow alone."

"We know. We sorry." Twilight felt disappointed that she upset her mentor.

"But, you have also proved that you care deeply for Rainbow. Going to see to her even when told not to. I'm very impressed."

Rainbow ran to Solar Hall.

"Luna, where is Celestia?"

"I not really sure. Why?"

"This is why!" She waved a piece of paper at Luna.

"Oh good lord."

Celestia and the girls walked to the Hall. When they entered they saw to very frantic ponies.

"What is wrong?!"

Luna read out the letter. "I hope you're happy now Rainbow Crash. In order for your surrender, I've pony-napped three filles. They call themselves the Cutiemark Crusaders." Luna paused.

Applejack and Rarity squealed out their sisters names.

"SWEETIE BELLE!"

"APPLEBLOOM!"

Luna carried on. "If you want to have them back you better agree to my demands. I will be arriving at Solar Hall at half 12."

"Sweetie belle. How could he?"

"Half twelve! But that's now!" Luna exclaimed.

The hall doors opened.

"Hello girls!"

Artist walked in with three guards holding one of the crusaders.

"Good afternoon Rainbow. Since our meeting last night, I'm willing to make peace with Equestria."

"And what do fillies have to do with it?"

"Oh them! It's so you have to agree to my terms."

"What terms?"

"You see, I'll have these fillies executed if you are not dead by the end of the week."

The Princesses, girls and crusaders gasped.

"Hmm. What about no?" Rainbow said smugly.

"Then its bedtime for these three."

"What about no, but I kick your butt!" As she finished her sentence, both then pulled out their swords.

"Ha! Another battle. But not against me. Come, my dear followers." About 20 stallions, dressed in black came in.

"Oh look! Another added extra!" Artist's sword shot out black smoke. But it wasn't smoke.

"This, my dear friends, is dark magic. It will weaken anyone in touches."

Rainbow watched as the Princesses and her friends were engulfed by the smoke.

"RARITY!"

"APPLEJACK!" Applebloom and Sweetie belle squealed.

Suddenly, a blast of light clashed with Artist's sword. It was Rainbow's.

"What!?"

The light shone brighter and brighter.

"No!" More smoke shot out of his sword.

The three crusaders got scared and ran under Celestia's throne.

The soldiers ran out.

A giant blast came from both swords.

When it settled, Twilight and the girls woke up. But Twilight and Rarity felt weak. They looked around to see the Princesses unconscious. They saw the three fillies under the throne and...

Rainbow opened her eyes. Her blue ratty, blue uniform was now gold. Diamonds shone at the bottom. It matched her sword. Excepted for the six jewels on her chest. The were the gems that were on the Elements of Harmony.

Artist saw that he was no longer dressed in a black suit, but a deep blue jacket with a white outlining.

"Twilight, girls! Are you okay?"

"We're fine Rainbow."

"Ha! The Princesses are out cold. You're next Rainbow!"

The smoke changed to a dark green. "Yes! It's strong! The power is imense!" He glance over to Rainbow.

"Every Rainbow has got to fade."

He shot a blast towards Rainbow. But missed completely.

Suddenly, in the garden, Discord's statue started to crack.

"There's no stopping me now!"

Day turned to night. A strong wind blew. Lightning cracked and thunder rumbled.

The six mares stared. The Rainbow's sword started to glow the colours of the rainbow. The six diamonds on the sword changed to the colours of each Element. The jewels on Rainbow's uniform glowed.

Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash. The Elements of Harmony. Equestria's guardians.

They stood behind Rainbow as their necklaces and crown hovered towards them from the box in the far corner.

Colourful ribbons of light shone from their jewels towards Rainbow.

She lifted her sword and pointed it at Artist.

She whispered. "I'm sorry." They all opened their eyes- which were now pure white- and blasted a powerful rainbow at him.

The rainbow was not like the one when they defeated Nightmare Moon or Discord. This rainbow was tinted gold and sparkled.

The skies cleared up. The smoke disappeared. And Discord's statue resumed to its stone state, but with a gold tint.


The Crusaders came out from under the throne. The looked around. The smoke had gone. Good. But their sisters and friends were lying on the floor. Bad.

They ran over to them.

"Rarity! Wake up! Twilight! Fluttershy!" Sweetie Belle nudged them.

"Ain't no time ta be nappin Applejack! You too Pinkie!" Applebloom pulled their hair.

"Rainbow! Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo pulled at her wing feathers.

"Let them be, young ones."

They turned around to see Luna.

"But will they be okay?" They asked in sync.

"They'll be fine."

"Are you okay, Princess Luna?" Sweetie Belle asked.

"Why yes. Thank you." Luna smiled. No ponies asks if she okay.

"Urg."

"Tia! Are you hurt?" Luna rushed over to help her sister.

"I'm fine, Luna."

"Umm. Princess Celestia. Princess Luna. What about him?" Sweetie pointed a hoof at Artist. Who layed unconsciously apon the floor.

"Will he be ex-i-cutie?" Applebloom asked.

"It's executed, you dodo!" Sweetie Belle yelled.

"What are you, a dictionary?" Scootaloo retorted.

The two alicorns giggled.

Rainbow opened her eyes. She slowly got up. She noticed that her friends were still out cold. She picked up her sword and placed it in her belt. But as she tried to walk she fell, and her sword clashed against the floor.

"Rainbow!" Scootaloo ran over to her idol.

"I fine, squirt."

"Owie!"

"Urg!"

"Eep!"

"Oh!"

"Errr." The others woke up one by one.

"Hoohee Rainbow! That was some mighty powerful stuff!"

"APPLEJACK!" Applebloom jumped onto Applejack.

"Ow!"

"Oops. Sorry sis."

"Sweetie Belle."

"Rarity. You okay!"

"Of course I'm okay. Just a little sore."

"That outburst of magic you produced may have weakened you."

"But Princess, I don't understand. How was Rainbow able to channel the Elements magic?"

"Oh Twilight, my dear student. Another reason why I chose Rainbow to be commander, is because she is the strongest of elements."

"But I thought-"

"You know when she took the arrow to herself rather than you. Even so she might even represent all of you."

"Say what?!" Said a confused Rainbow.

"Rainbow Dash, you are a honest, generous, kind, funny and magical friend. But loyalty in your heart is the strongst of all."

"Eww! Sappy stuff!" Scootaloo squirmed.

The other Crusaders quickly hugged Scootaloo.

"Eww! Get off! I- ahh, forget it!" Scootaloo gave in a return the hug.

The others giggled.

"Eerrr."

Rainbow walked over to the now awake Artist.

"Artist, are you okay?"

"Hmphf! Why do you care?"

"Because I care for you." Her voice was softer than her usual.

"Well, I don't care about you!" He turned away.

Rainbow pulled out her sword and laid in front of Artist.

"What?!"

"If you really don't care about me, you'll kill me right now."

Artist looked at Rainbow then at the sword.

"So you still care about me? Even after I declared war with Equestria, tried to kill you, destoyed villages, set fire to Canterlot and nearly destroyed the whole of Equestria." He looked downwards.

Rainbow lifted his head up with her hoof, and stared into his eyes.

"Even when you did all of that." Rainbow smiled. Artist smiled back.

Their noses got close together. Just like the other night but longer.

"Awwwww!" Was all the others could say. Even Scootaloo.

After they separated from the kiss, Celestia walked over to them.

"I'm sorry to say, but he has to be punished."

"But Celestia, he's suffered enough. And so have I."

"Hmm. Instead of being imprisoned or executed, you will do community service at Ponyville Weather Management."

Artist smiled. "Thank you, Princess Celestia!" He bowed.

Celestia and Luna left, along with the Cutiemark Crusaders.

The rest of the girls went over to Artist.

"I'm sorry, girls. That I put you, Rainbow and your sisters in danger."

"Aw, its okay. Forgive and forget, ah am sure tha yah are a good pony inside." Applejack gave Artist a pat.

"Yes dear. I mean if I didn't forgive and forget, I wouldn't be friends with Rainbow, Pinkie, Fluttershy or Applejack. And I definitely wouldn't have Sweetie Belle for a sister."

"Thank you, girls. I don't really deserve this."

"Of course you do. Every pony deserves to have friends. And love." Fluttershy said.

Pinkie took a deep breath in.

"Oh no!"

"Hold on ta yah ears!"

"We should so have a party! Maybe two because your new and because you've turned good or maybe three because you're now with Dashie! Ooooo it will be the best party ever! Three in one! It will be so awesome! Annnddd we should..."

"Does she ever shut up?" Artist put his hooves over his ears.

"Hahahahaha! You-you better get used to this Arty!" Rainbow couldn't hold it in. Neither of them could.

The mane 6 and Artist lay on the floor laughing and telling stories.

Artist's mind was on Rainbow. And Rainbow's mind was on Artist.

Their wings connected and they held each others hooves.

10 Years Later

"Mommy! Mommy! Wake up! Daddy! Tell mommy to wake up!" An excited filly jumped up down on the cloud bed.

She was a turquoise pegasus with blue, green and red hair. Her eyes were a deep rose. Her cutiemark was a paint pallet and paint brush.

"What is it, Paints?" Moaned a sleepy rainbow mare.

"I GOT MY CUTIEMARK!"

"Ow! Sweetie, turn the volume down. Mommy ain't feeling too well." Artist said.

"Oh! Sorry daddy. I forgot mommy is looking after baby. But I got my cutiemark"

"That's lovely. How did you get it?"

"I painted a picture of Ponyville. A really good one."

"That's our little Paint Pallet." Rainbow said while giggling.

"I know. But did really have to call after my nickname?" Artist smiled.

"Oh just you wait! I've got loads more for the next one! Arty!"
