Chapter 23: Love Isn't Like That
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" Bonbon dropped her clipboard and pen, clapping.
"Seeya tomorrow in class, then." You kissed her on the cheek as Dash came out of Pinkie's dorm, looking confused.
"Hey Dash, Bonbon and I are going out now!" Did I sound too fake? I sounded too fake. Dammit.
"Heh... G-good for you..." Dash scratched the back of her head, falsely smiling.
After letting go of Bonbon, you and Dash walked side-by-side to your dorm. Dash's phone was ringing and you could tell Dash didn't want it to be Pinkie. Instead it was someone named SB.
She held the phone to her ear, "Hello?"
"Hi Rainbow."
"Who is this...?" Dash sat down on the couch.
"Sweetie Belle. I have a question about someone..." Sweetie Belle, well, squeaked.
"Sure."
"There's this girl that has been botheri-" Sweetie Belle started, but some people started yelling at her in the background.
"Are ya callin' an adult about her?!" Applebloom was stomping her feet, loud.
"We told you not to, we're not snitches!" Scootaloo said next, and the phone hung up.
"Um..." Dash still had the phone to her ear, "The hell?"
"Don't ask me. I was just hanging out with my new girlfriend." You hid your smirk, watching her shift awkwardly.
"Good for you..."
"Is something wrong?" Your smirk resistance was lowering, and one corner of your mouth was deciding to go upwards.
"Nope. I'll just..." She looked around, "Write some stuff down..." In a journal, maybe?
As you thought, she grabbed her journal and a pen. She draped a blanket over herself, keeping it secret. You'd have to check what she wrote down later, if she would leave the dorm.
"Dash, come out from under there. You're too pretty to be tucked away." Did I just say that? FUUUUU.
"Erm..." She popped her head out from under the blanket, "You is pretty too?"
"Thanks?" You laughed, and she smiled before diving under the blanket again.
"So..." She trailed off, "What's up?"
"Not the blanket, for sure." You lightly gripped the cover and pulled up, poking your head underneath it.
"I'm gonna push you off the couch if you join me..." A groan escaped her lips, "And you joined me."
You booped her nose and let the blanket fall over you and Dash. She squished as far into the couch as she could, you and her fitting perfectly onto the cushions.
"Something's bothering you. Tell me." Not just jealousy.
"I'd prefer to keep it private." Her head turned as she slipped her journal under the cushion.
"Please?"
"Fine." She seemed to of shrunk, "I don't wanna tell you."
"You didn't have to sing-song and make me suffer!" You poked her, and since it was dark under the blanket you poked something soft.
"RAAPE!" She shouted, pushing you off the couch with the blanket wrapped around you.
"...Ow." You rolled yourself around, eventually getting out of the blanket.
Dash burst into laughter, falling off the couch herself. You took the blanket and covered Dash in it, smiling as she continued dying from laughter. She instantly stopped laughing, making you worry.
"Did you actually die of laughter?" You thought that over, "If you died then you wouldn't be able to answer..."
Reaching down to take off the blanket, Dash let out a giant roar and jumped up, pouncing onto you. The blanket that was still around her made you screech a bit since you thought she was dead.
"Rawr." She said quietly through the green blanket.
"Rawr means I love you in dinosaur." You said, smiling at her silliness.
"Well then, un-rawr." She sat up from lying on you, and you could see the outline of crossed arms.
"Ouch. You un-rawr me. That hurts, Dash. You'll have to be punished."
"Process what you just said and remove the blanket when you understand what I'm getting at." Right then, you flipped off the blanket, giving her a frown and a shake of the head. She smiled sheepishly and rolled off you. Lots of rolling today.
After what felt like a decade, Dash and you sat on the couch like normal people. You were watching TV, when Dash glanced over at you. Out of the corner of your eyes you saw this, but looked back at the TV to prevent any eye contact. After minute or so you turned your head, and she smiled. While melting inside because of her cuteness, you smiled back.
"So how'd you and Bonbon start dating? And when exactly?"
"I just asked her out when I started hugging her." Eye contact... Those eyes...
"It happened just like that? No meaning?" She cocked her head, and you did the same to keep eye contact. Well I'm stumped.
"Well, She had a crush on me so I asked her out to make her happy-" You were interrupted when Dash grabbed your arm softly.
"That isn't how love works, bro. Love isn't always happy."
"How?" You questioned, Dash still grasping your arm.
"If neither person in a relationship is happy; it definitely won't work out. If one person is happy; it's highly likely that it won't work out. But if both people are happy; something is going on with one of the people... Like Fluttershy and I."
"What happened with Fluttershy and you?" You read her journal and already knew, but you didn't wanna sound too creepy.
"We were too happy together, because Fluttershy was cheating on me."
"That sucks," You thought over something, "Aren't you and Pinkie both happy?"
Silence.
"Dash?" You looked at her as she let go of your arm.
"Yeah, we were happy." Dash looked at the carpet, and just glared at it.
"Were?"
"Remember when I did that finger in the air thingy and yelled out 'Equals jealousy!'?" She waited for a nod from you, "Well, Pinkie wanted me back but then used me to get someone else jealous. I hate people like that... I don't hate Pinkie, though."
There was a weird feeling in your stomach as you repeated Dash's words. I hate people like that...
"That's..." Your eyes sprung wide open, "You broke up with Pinkie when you ran out of the room after you yelled that?!"
"Yup. Why?"
"No reason..." Just that I'm using Bonbon to get you jealous because I didn't want you dating Pinkie, Dash. No reason at all.
The clock read 7:00pm and you were starving, so you dialed for pizza. They have a special service for delivering to the college, Los Pegasus College, for free. The delivery didn't cost extra, the pizza costs the same though. You and Dash played Chopsticks until the pizza came, and finished the game even after the pizza arrived. The delivery girl wasn't very happy about that...
"Are you guys done yet?" She tapped her foot, waiting at the open door.
"One second..." Dash stuck out her tongue, having one hand with four fingers up. You also had one hand, two fingers up. You started swearing in your head as she slapped your hand, "Four plus two equals six, you don't have six fingers! I win!"
"FUUUUU- Yes ma'am." You walked over to the dresser and plucked your wallet up, taking out a ten dollar bill and handing it to the woman. You took the pizza and set it on the couch, looking over at Dash. She looked back at you, smirking.
"Two out of three?" Staring at Dash's smirk made you smile.
"You bet." She opened the box and took a slice in her mouth, nomming away while playing the second game of Chopsticks.
Losing repeatedly, you kept calling for another match. Three out of five, four out of six, five out of seven. And in the end, only one thing was important... The pizza got cold.
