King of Velrain
Chapter 5: Exploration.
Previous Chapter Next ChapterCelestia awoke with a startle, as she felt cold water thrown onto her face. She instinctively bucked.
She hit something. Hard.
Her back hooves hurt from the hit and when she went to see what she hit, she was expecting a brick wall. Not Alexander smiling with two hooves marks on his chest.
"That's a hell of a kick you got there."
"Thank you?"
"Now you’re probably wondering why I dumped ice water on you, am I right?"
"What happened?"
"All the mares except for your sister, in the crowd fainted when I struck a pose. I wouldn't blame them, I tend to have that effect on the ladies."
"I'm sure. Now while you can't stay in the castle for right now, you'll have to stay in a place that has enough room."
"Couldn’t I just sleep outside? I have been trained to survive in extreme heat and cold, I’ve been doing it for thirteen years and I stay in my armor most of the time."
"No, you will stay in a proper shelter, with a roof over your head."
"Gah! Ranibow what'd yall do that for!?" Applejack said waking up from a fresh bucket of ice water.
Rainbow was on the ground having a laughing fit.
"'ll deal with you later." She said before looking over at the princess and king.
"So, you wouldn't have any place for me to stay by chance would you?" He asked.
"The barn should be big nough' for you."
"Ooh a farm! I’ve always wanted to go to a farm, but I never got to."
"If yall don’t mind me askin' what's with the sudden mood change?"
"Huh? Oh I’m just more comfortable around you all now, now that I know you all can't kill me. Celestia did leave a mark on me when she bucked me though."
Applejack was blushing furiously while covering her smile with her stentson. "So, she bucked you?"
"Yeah, she left two big marks, see?"
Applejack was on the ground laughing now.
"What's so funny?" He asked Celestia who was also blushing.
"She thinks I bucked you."
"You did though, see there's marks on my chest."
"No she thought we... rutted."
.
His eyes grew in realization. "And I thought Rainbow was the dirty one! That's a good one; no one can usually get me with that sort of thing."
"I'm happy to see you two getting along already. For now I need to search for the other human."
Celestia flew off leaving two of the Element's, half a crowd of passed out ponies and her sister.
"So when do we get to go?" He asked bouncing up and down shaking the buildings.
"When were done wakin' all the others." She said making his ears lay back.
"But that could take forever! I want to go see what life is like on a farm!"
"You will as soon as we wake the others."
He crossed his fore-hooves before his gaze followed the drooling mares. All the way to a water hydrant.
A small smile spread across his face before he got up, went over to the hydrant and nudged it making it fall to the side letting all the water spray on the crowd.
They all started stirring so he grabbed the hydrant and smashed it back into place before walking back to Applejack.
"Now can we go?"
"Sure, ah guess." She said not quite believing he did a Rainbowdash move.
He smiled and picked up his helmet carefully balancing it on his back. As they were going along he was staring at every building in fascination and amazement.
Soon a soft hiss came from his armor.
"Did yall's armor just hiss?" She asked stepping to the side.
"No, this is Cinnamon." He said extending his neck to let out a snake like creature with four eye's seven legs and pincers.
"What in tarnation!" She yelled jumping back.
Cinnamon hissed slightly before rubbing against his cheek.
"Now look what you've done, you've hurt her feelings. Now apologize."
"What?"
"Apologize to her." He said extending his hoof to let Cinnamon crawl to the edge.
She looked down at her and back to Alexander before giving in.
"A'hm sorry I over reacted."
She gave a low hiss before crawling off and onto Applejack's back where she nuzzled her.
"Now stop that ah'm ticklish."
She gave another hiss and nod before curling up under her hat.
"I think she likes you, that's a good thing." He said chuckling at the cute site.
"Why? Is she poisonous?"
"Yes, one bite will make your eyes dry up, your skin peel off like a rotten banana and your insides become your outsides. It hurt like hell when she bit me, but when you bite me, she learned that I bite twice as hard. We both have the scars to prove it."
"If that's true then why aren't you dead?"
"When I bit her I got some of her blood on the wound, it mixed and it made an anti-venom from her venom and my blood cells. So now when I get poisoned or ingest venom it's like injecting steroids into my veins."
"Huh, that's neat."
"Not really, although I do enjoy taking a cyanide pill once in a while. It has a nice citrusy taste with a hint of coconut in the aftertaste."
She looked at him confused but still nodding as if she understood what he was talking about.
The walk was short, it was a small own after all. Soon the tops of trees and a barn could be seen in the distance and not so long after the gate.
"Here we are Sweetapple acres! Home of the Apple family and best apples around." She said proudly.
He was staring at the orchard with wide eyes and an even wider smile.
"Look at all the apples."
"That's not even all of em' either."
"No way. Do you think I could try and help?"
"What? Buck a tree?"
"Yeah, I wonder if I could do it."
"I'd reckon so after the little test twi' set up. Come on, I’ll get Mac." She said opening the gate and running to the farm house.
He sat in front of the porch marveling at how many trees there were before three voices and a rustle of leaves caught his attention. He looked over to a bush and saw, squinting three sets of eyes.
He pulled out his war-hammer before moving forward. The bush moved back before three foals came out. One was an orange Pegasus with a purple mane; the unicorn of the group was whit with pink highlights in her mane and finally a little yellow earth pony with a red mane and a gigantic pink bow.
"Alright, I’ll bite. Who are you, and why were you trying to spy on me?" He asked putting his hammer back in its sheath.
"We wanted to talk." Said the small orange one.
"About?"
"Is it true you're really a king?" Asked the little unicorn.
"Yes. And a da-darn good one too." He caught himself.
"Are you really as strong as they say you are?"
"And stronger each day. I wouldn't be surprised if I could lift a mountain by now. I wonder..." He said looking over to Canterlot. "Naw, she'd get mad."
"Did yall really fight zomponies?" Asked the small yellow one.
"Yes I did, I threw oil tankers, rolled streets on them and occasionally threw a building... or two... or eight."
"What was the worst thing you ever fought?" Asked the unicorn.
"Scariest or biggest?"
"I think you mean largest, and I would like to know about the largest."
"Well alright little miss dictionary," He said sticking out his tongue. "It actually comes with my title, or atleast it did when i added it to my list of achievements. I killed the unkillable!"
"What was it?"
"Destroyer one and Destroyer two. I actually did humanity a favor by killing them; they'd already killed three-fourths of earth’s population before they sent it into space."
"Everypony knows you can't go into space. It’s impossible." She said with a dismissive hoof.
"Oh yeah? Well how about tonight i go to the moon and bring back two lunar rocks?"
"Why?"
"To show you it is possible, as long as you have the right equipment and training."
"Deal, hey look here comes Big Mac and Applejack."
He turned around and stood up. Big Mac was atleast at his chest standing straight forward. He was slightly muscular from farm work. He seemed quite but his eyes had a world of endless knowledge in them, waiting to be shared.
"Howdy, names Big Macintosh. Yall can call me Mac if it suits you." He said slowly before extending his hoof.
"Alexander. But you can just call me Alex." He grabbed his hoof and immediately Big Mac's shrank back.
"Got a heck of’ a grip. I heard Aj's lettin ya try apple bucking, that true?"
"Yeah, I was hoping while I stay in the barn i could help around. When do I get to start?"
"Yall can start now if ya like. There’s a nice tree right over there." He said pointing to a tree by another small patch.
He walked over and circled it once before getting in position.
He struck out his back legs as hard as he could. Three things happened his hooves met wood, there was a loud snap, and the looks on the applefamily were ones of shock.
He hesitantly looked back and his eyes widened, his ears lay back and his mouth form an "O" shape.
He had not just taken the tree out by the roots; he'd taken another four with it.
"Maybe I shouldn't do that again." He said nervously tapping his hooves together.
"Well that's a heck of a kick ya got there." Big Mac chuckled.
"I can put them back if you want, it will only take a few seconds."
"Don't worry bout it. Let's go plow the fields."
He nodded before getting back up and sharing one last glance towards the trees he fell.
Mac led him around past the barn, past a few apple trees and finally a large open area. He walked up to a large piece machinery, it wasn’t technologically advanced like tractors, but it was sufficient.
"So you’re going to hook me up to something with a large blade? You all trust me way too much."
"Now come on, if yall say you’re as strong as ya are then this will tire you out might quick."
He walked over and let Mac put the chains around his barrel and front legs.
"The last time I was tied in chains was when I was in that Taliban military camp over in Iraq. They tried everything from teeth pulling and car batteries, but I just laughed right in their faces."
"Right, so all yall have to do is walk around there. Just make a good four rows."
He looked over to the small patch and faster than Mac could see vanished for a split second and reappeared in front of him with a small trail of dust following.
"Alright I’m done."
"How can ye be done already? ya just... started." He said before he saw the field.
A perfect four rows, evenly spaced and straight, done.
"I'm not gounna ask. I guess that's all we can do for ya. And seems like the night is comin so I’d say it's time to hit the hay."
"Night Mac, see you in the morning."
As they both walked back Alex could hear yelling and screaming. Followed by howls.
"We need to go now!" He nearly shouted before vanishing in a blur through the trees.
In seconds he saw what was going on, there seemed to be four wooden wolves surrounding Applebloom. And she was hurt.
They hurt a child.
He saw his vision go red, blood start to go down his face. He charged without a second thought, he managed to skewer one of the wolves in the head. Before any of them knew what was going on a second had its head smashed in and the third had its body torn in half. The fourth one had enough time to see a war hammer connect with his face.
Its entire body shattered from the shock wave that followed through the air.
"Alex what's got yall riled up-Applebloom!" Mac yelled running up to meet Applebloom.
"What in tarnation happened Alex!? Alex?"
"They hurt a child." He growled.
"One of em' bit me, see?" Applebloom said showing her brother her fore-leg.
"What bit you? All ah see is... wood. Alex did yall just kill four Timberwolves?"
He walked past him with blood matted fur and into the barn.
"Ah think he needs time to cool off, come on bloom let's get some rest."
