The Unseen Brothers Part 1

By~TheDetective90

Two brothers, of red and green

Able to show you what they have seen

The words flowed through Cinema Scope's mind awakening him from a frightening dream. He looked at the clock on the wall as he his fore legs and wings and realized that if he didn't get moving soon they were going to be late.

Cinema blinked his red and green eyes wearily as he went to wake up his little filly of a brother. “Get up Cam.” he said to a mound of blankets on top of a Wonderbolt shaped bed.

“Mmphrrmmnhm.” replied the pile of quilts and sheets

“Fine have it your way.” Cinema floated into the air and flapped his wings a few times to start up a good wind that blew all the covers off the bed revealing a young, green, unicorn pony. The red pegasus pony swooped down grabbed his brother by the mane with his teeth, threw him in to the air  and caught him on his back.

“Some dream last night huh?” Yawned Camera, now awake enough to speak full sentences, as he and his brother flew towards Twilight Sparkle's study at the palace in Canterlot.

“You remembered it?”

The green unicorn sat on the red pegasi's back and thought about it for a second and replied, “No.” now he was confused. Since when could he not remember the dreams he and his brother shared? It was part of the gift he and his brother had, it let them communicate telepathically, see through each others eyes and he could project their memories magically , he could also bind projections to objects. This gift was the reason they had been hired to help Princess Celestia's star pupil, Twilight Sparkle, by recording experiments so that twilight could review them and so the results could be sent on a scroll to Celestia.

“I wonder if it means anything? Remarked Cam. Neither he, his brother or even Twilight, who had spent hours researching the importance of their bond but could only find references to a book she surprisingly didn't have, knew anything about their powers.

Cinema glanced down to that Twilight was right below him, sitting under a tree, reading. “Oh look there's Twilight.” said Cinema making a horrible attempt at hiding his excitement at the sight of his superior. Cam remained silent but gave the back of his brothers head a disapproving glare, but because of their link it works just as well.

“She's probably researching something right now so we should stay hidden.” said Cinema as he landed on a high up branch in the tree Twilight was under. “Right, and by that you mean you want to spy on Twilight while she doesn't know you're around.” replied his brother.

“What? No.”

“Listen, because I'm the technically magic one here I get more unintentional feedback readings from you all the time. You might be con fused about it but I see it clear as day.”

“You're in lo-” Cinema put his hoof in his brothers mouth and said, “She's reading aloud, this might be important.” Cam muttered something under his breath, started recording and decided to rest his eyes since he couldn't see any thing from here and his brother was most definitely concentrated on Twilight's flanks.

Once Twilight got towards the end of the story when he felt his brother's head begin to rest on the back of his neck. “Hey, did you get all that?” Cam lifted his head up tiredly and annoyed.

“Yeah yeah, I got it.” Cam's horn started to glow and then, a floating image started to form out of thin air. It was like a moving story book being read aloud, and although it was definitely what Twilight had been reading, it wasn't Twilight's voice. “Interesting, I wonder what makes that sort of thing happen.” Said Cinema

“Exhaustion.” replied his brother flatly.

Cam looked at where twilight had been laying to find she had left and was talking to another group of ponies not to far off. He could barely make out the conversation when Twilight suddenly sped off. Cam stopped his replay. “Hey, why'd you do that?”

“You're girlfriend is on the move.” replied cam pointing his hoof in the direction of a bunch of swirling dust where Twilight had just been.

...

“How in all of Equestria does she move that fast without wings?” asked Cinema, panting as he landed at the wide open doors of Twilight's study. Cam slid off his brother's flank, past his film reel cutie mark landed, barely making a sound and said “Magic.” as he smiled at his own wit, witch was rewarded with a light hoof smack to the back of his head. The two brothers walked in to find Twilight and Spike in the upper level of her library.

“But aren't we on a break?” protested Spike.

The little green unicorn glared at his brother and in the back of the red pegasi's head he heard his brother's voice. I told you we were on a break. But noooooo you just had to drag me out of bed so you could pine over Twi- Cinema blocked the rest of his brothers telepathic nagging so he could better listen to what twilight was going on about. Something about it seemed familiar to him, Mare in the Moon, Elements of Harmony, he had heard all of this before, but where?

As his brother hovered over Twilight's shoulder hanging on to her every word, Cam examined Twilight's hourglass. It had been counting down to some undetermined date since he had first seen it but now the count down seemed to be coming to an end, the sand would run out in a few days at most. He was giving the hour glass a thorough look over as Twilight passed him and he could have sworn he saw a reflection in the hour glass. Not a pony he knew but one that seemed familiar.

After Twilight had gotten a letter from Princess Celestia commanding her to visit a small village Twilight told Cinema and Cam to tidy up the last of the mess that had been made in the library. “Well at least we get our day off now, right?” Said Cam excitedly, thinking about how he didn't have to worry about doing any work today.

“We're going to follow them.” replied Cinema.

...

“Can you tell me one last time why we are doing this?” Asked Cam from his brothers back. Looking down he could see Twilight and Spike in the carriage below tthem as the baby dragon re-read Princess Celestia's letter

“I have a bad feeling.” There was something off with this whole Mare in the Moon thing, he just knew it. “Besides Twilight is one of our only friends, we need to-” Cinema was cut off by being knocked out by a collision with a rainbow-maned pegasus. Cam grabbed on to the perpetrator's tail, who somehow seemed to have been unaffected by the crash, just in time to save himself. His brother would be relatively fine, pegasi could fall for miles and only get some scrapes and bruises, but he probably wouldn't survive a fall from this height.

Cam climbed on to the pegasi's back and said, “Since you just knocked my brother out of the sky do you think you could follow that carriage?” motioning to twilight.

“Sure,” she replied in a squeaky boyish voice. “but aren't you worried about your brother?” she said looking down at the shrinking form of the red pegasus.

“He'll be fine, and he would probably yell at me for not following them.”

Cinema found himself hurtling toward the ground at an amazing speed, he knew he would survive, it just wouldn't be very fun. Send his brother a message telepathically before he was knocked unconscious for the second time that day. You have to follow Twilight, I think something bad is going to happen if we don't.  With that done he found himself not awake, again.

They shall return, the brothers red and green

And yet, the brothers' true powers remain unseen.
