Solid Snake 1: Arrival
A hooded figure walked down the New Hoofington bridge. If you were a pony standing on the sidewalk, you would only see his olive green muzzle, which had a thick beard growing on it, and a cigar hanging lazily out of his mouth. But nopony was crazy enough to be walking on the bridge on a day like this. Rain came down in heavy sheets, soaking anything in half a second. This figure was no exception, as he was soaked from head to hoof. But other things were on the mind of the legendary mercenary, codenamed Solid Snake.
A beep resounded through Snake's ear, indicating that somepony was calling him over codec. Snake accepted the call. Over the codec, a familiar voice could be heard. That voice was the voice of his partner, codenamed Otacon.
"Snake, have you made it to the center of the bridge?" A light-hearted stallion's voice asked.
"Almost there, Otacon." Replied a gruff voice from beneath the tattered robe. Snake picked up the pace, trotting until he reached the exact center. He calmly looked over the edge, rain pelting the his back. Just as Otacon had told him, a giant oil tanker began to pass underneath the bridge. Snake spotted some ponies in raincoats, who looked like your run-of-the-mill ship staff, but Solid Snake knew they were secretly armed with Marine weaponry. Snake waited for the oil tanker to pass far enough.
As the back of the ship began to show, Solid Snake prepared for the jump. In one smooth movement, Snake whipped off the tattered robes, fully revealing his olive green earth pony body and brown mane and tail. Snake was hearing a black headband, and an leg ring on each foreleg that had a seal on each. The leg rings were positioned at his shoulders. While the brown robe went soaring through the air, Snake's form began to shimmer and turn transparent. The only way a pony could tell he was there was because of the rain pelting off his form. Snake grinned inwardly as his transparent hooves set up a heavy duty bungie cord at the railing. Active Camo. Gotta love it. He thought to himself. Then, Solid Snake leaped onto the top of the railing, and took a diving leap off the railing.
Seeing Solid Snake dive was much similar to that of bird of prey. Solid Snake spread out his forelegs almost like wings, and fell at great speeds towards the deck of the ship. As his body was about 20 feet from the deck, the bungie cord fully unwrapped, decreasing his speed until he stopped about a few feet above the deck. As his body reached this miniscule height, Solid Snake gracefully flipped around and quickly detached the cord. Snake flipped around once again and landed gracefully on the deck.
Otacon called once again on the codec. "You're on the ship?" He asked.
"Yes." Snake responded
"Good. you know your mission objectives, right?"
"Yeah. Get photographic evidence of the new Metal Gear, while being detected by nopony."
Otacon let out a worried sigh. "Alright, Snake, good luck." With that, the codec hung up. Snake looked up, and pulled a cigar out of his leg ring. He put it in his mouth and lit it.
It begins, Snake thought.
Solid Snake 2: Stealth
Solid Snake was quite shocked to find that his active camouflage was no longer working. As he had landed on the deck of the disguised oil tanker, the combination of heavy rain and large impact caused the device to stop operating correctly, rendering Snake visible to any guards overlooking the deck. As fast as he could, Snake took cover behind the nearest cover he could find, being one of four small engines that were built exposed to the air. He let out a sigh of relief as the guard overlooking the deck from the bridge of the tanker did not spot him. It was not long until the codec beeped. Snake accepted the call.
"Looks like your camo's out." Otacon stated worriedly over the codec.
"I wasn't going to depend on it anyways..." Solid Snake responded, reassuring the light-hearted stallion.
Snake's ears perked up as he heard a strange sound. He cautiously peeked his head out from behind the small engine. Snake looked up to the bridge, where the unsuspecting guard was standing. Just as Snake was about to place himself behind cover again, he spotted a figure moving slowly toward the guard from behind. As Snake got a better look, he realized what it was. A Russian mercenary?! What are they doing here?! The Russian was wearing brown camouflage, with black hoof gloves on each hoof. The figure also had a pair of night vision goggles, and had a distinctive Russian assault rifle strapped to his withers. The mercenary currently held a knife in his mouth, and was preparing to slit the unfortunate guards throat.
As the Russian mercenary got a foot away from the guard, he lunged. He brought his forehooves around the guards neck and pulled the guard closer to him, and then he worked the knife around the guard's neck and delivered the killing blow, a slash across his throat. Before the guard could even make a sound, he fell to the ground with blood spurting from his airways. The mercenary retreated back into the bridge, where the controls for the tanker were housed.
Solid Snake quickly retreated behind the small engine and proceeded to call Otacon.
"What is it, Snake?" Otacon asked.
"The ship was just attacked. It looks like it's completely taken over by some sort of Russian force. I saw AN-94's and other Russian tech." Snake hurriedly told his partner.
"Looks like we're not the only one's after Metal Gear... Alright, Snake, looks like your gonna have to be even more stealthy. If you're seen by these ponies, they won't show mercy." Snake slowly nodded.
"First, get into the crew quarters. From there, proceed to the holds. That should be where the Metal Gear is..." Otacon ordered.
"That should be? You mean you're not sure?" Snake replied, now worried. He heard Otacon let out an exasperated sigh.
"Look, it was an anonymous tip, alright?" Otacon said quickly.
"An anonymous tip? I thought you were too good for those." Snake replied, even more worried. What if there isn't a Metal Gear? What if it's a trap? Snake was on the verge of panic.
"The tip was sent by by an E.E. I haven't told you this, but I have a sister. Not a real sister, more a sister in law." Otacon's tone had grown sad rather quickly. "Her name was Emma, but we always called her 'E.E'..."
Snake knew he had to go with this anonymous tip, whether he liked it or not. "Alright, Otacon, I'm going to make my way to the crew quarters, and you can lead me on from there." He cooly stated.
"Thanks, Snake." Otacon replied graciously, and then hung up the call. Snake peeked out from behind cover, and saw that there were no mercenaries checking the deck. Once Snake was sure he could move, he ran as fast as he could to the right side of the ship, and entered the small area between the elevated bridge of the tanker and the railing. Snake silently looked to his left leg ring, and found a modified M9 tucked in it. The M9 was modified to shoot tranquilizer darts. The darts would put a guard to sleep for an hour or so, and nopony would hear anything thanks to a heavy duty silencer mounted on the barrel. Like all pistols in pony possession, the triggers were made so a pony could easily fire the weapon while holding it in their mouths. This M9 was no exception. Solid Snake pulled the M9 out of the leg ring, with his mouth, and proceeded to inch his way along the enclosed pathway.
If Otacon was correct, (Which he always was)Snake knew that the crew quarters would be somewhere along this outer edge of the ship. The bridge and other areas inside the main structure of the ship made a building-like structure that encompassed most of the ship. Snake was walking along the about ten foot space between this building and the edge of the ship. Along the rim of this main structure, doors into it could be found. the crew quarters had immediate access to the deck, so Snake was ordered to find a way into this area. It would prove harder than he thought.
Solid Snake spotted a large metal hatch that was clearly labeled Crew Quarters A. A light was hung over the hatch, but was rendered nearly useless, as rain had clearly worn it down to the point were the lightbulb only released a small beam. The storm clouds and the night combined had drowned the tanker in a humongous wave of darkness, and made it hard to see your own hooves. This was only appreciated by Snake as he could not be spotted easily, or be heard due to the torrential downpour of water bombarding the ship and drowning out any sounds.
Snake quietly began to inch his way toward the hatch. All of the sudden, Snake came to a sudden halt as he felt cold metal press agains his mane. He slowly turned around, to be met with an assault rifle barrel pointed right between his eyes.
A gunshot resounded through the air, shaking the night stronger than thunder.
Solid Snake 3: Inside The Ship
"Snake? Snake?! SNAA-"
"What?!" Snake screamed frustration, trying to land a punch underneath the guard's chin.
"Oh, you scared the living Celestia out of me! What's going on?" Otacon hurriedly asked in a panicked voice.
Snake grunted as the guard sent a heavier-than-expected hoof into his stomach. "I'm a bit busy at the moment!" Snake was cut off again as he attempted to wrestle the large rifle out of the guard's hooves. As the guard's head was jerked up from Solid Snake's latest punch, rain impaired his vision. This distracted the guard long enough for Snake to send a powerful buck into his stomach, sending the unfortunate guard and his rifle over the edge of the ship. The guard screamed as he plummeted off the ship and into the freezing waters, pelted by rain all the way down.
Snake sighed heavily as he fell back down to his fours. After quickly scanning for enemies, He took a peek over the edge of the railing, seeing the Stalliongrad resident attempting swim. Snake flinched slightly as he watched the guard helplessly sink under the surface, the tanker too far away for rescue. For some reason, Snake thought the Russian ponies wouldn't try to help anyway. He sighed once again, and turned back. He cautiously made his way into the crew quarters.
Upon entering Deck-A, Solid Snake found himself in a cramped, metallic hallway that extended to the right and left. Being right hoofed, Snake decide to head to the right side first. Examination of this side of the hallway told Snake that there were multiple curves in the hallway, rendering him blind to whatever was farther down this particular path. Snake took a deep breath and slowly made his way to the first curve, or rather corner of the hallway. He stood up on his back legs and planted his front hooves on the wall in front of him, leaning to confirm any enemies around this certain bend. Snake was relieved to see no enemies, but yet another corner-like turn in the hallway. He pressed up against the wall, and dared to take a look at the continued hallway.
Snake spotted lights and a window overlooking the bay down the hallway, and...
As quickly as he could, Snake drew back into his cover as a shadow originating from around the corner appeared. His heart began to pound loudly as hoofsteps drew nearer and nearer... and they stopped. Whoever owned them had turned around and patrolled in the other direction. As soon as no more hoofsteps could be heard, Snake let out a long-contained breath.
He must have jumped a mile high when the codec began to ring.
"Snake, are you alright? I'm detecting a fair amount of blood loss from your lower-left hip!" Otacon shouted, obviously panicking.
"What? Oh!" Snake quickly bent over to check his hip. As Otacon had said, it was bleeding profusely. Guess that bastard did hit me... Snake silently cursed to himself. This could be a problem. If guards found his blood trail... He imagined not many things could go well after that. It was supposed to be a stealth mission anyways!
"You should have bandages in your pack. Those will help with the bleeding, but if you want to run faster than your granny..." Otacon pondered for a moment, "Painkillers should do the trick!" He exclaimed quite victoriously after a short pause.
"WHO'S THERE!?" A voice shouted from down the hall. Snake whipped around, only to see a shadow quickly approaching from the aforementioned lower hall.
"Snake! You've been spotted! RUN!" Otacon practically screamed like a filly. Snake did not need to be told twice.
All pain in his hip forgotten, Snake ran as fast as he could possibly manage down the metallic hallway. His speed only increased as he could hear the steady RATATAT of automatic weapons fire. As bullets whistled past him, Snake rounded a corner and shot through a door, not sure of where it lead. As he entered a small room, looking the same as the hallway, Snake was horrified when ran head on into another Stalliongrad mercenary. This is when Snake's combat-honed instincts kicked in.
While the guard turned around, Snake brought an unrelenting hoof into the right side of his muzzle. The guard, caught off-guard(How very punny of me.), was thrown into the left wall and now stood hunched over. Seeing this, Snake brought his upper knee down upon the back of the guard's head, throwing him onto the ground and breaking part of his nose in the process. To finish the guard off, Snake brought his back hoof down upon the guard, snapping his neck.
Snake had no time to rummage through the mercenary's belongings, as he heard the previous one shouting a warning in Russian through his radio. Spotting a staircase, he quickly flung himself up them and took a quick scan of the room he was in. It was small, crowded with utility lockers, and had no way out. Snake's already quickening heartbeat went over the charts as the pony realized this might be the end. The mercenaries would surely find him and kill him on sight, unless...
Snake managed to stuff himself inside one of the lockers as a squad of alerted troops cantered up the stairs.
I will do revisions later. For now, I will be lazy :L
