Darkness

"Ironic. Why is it that I find peace and comfort in the aspect that most people try to avoid? It's always in the darkness where I feel the safest, away from all of the troubles and problems the Earth presents to me. But...I'm not on Earth anymore...am I?"

Dr. Bruce Banner, AKA the Incredible Hulk, was extremely tired. It has always been physically and mentally taxing transforming into the Hulk and vice versa. It has been a while since he transformed into the green rage machine, so long in fact that he forgot how painful the transformation could be. His body was still not used to the change, so the only way he could cope with the pain was to pass out. Now the only thing on Banners mind was...where was he now?

His bodies nervous system began to reactive itself, giving Banner the opportunity to study his new surroundings one sense at a time. His eyes were still closed, too exhausted to open them, but he felt his body was lying on something soft. It definitely was not the burnt, destroyed ground of the forest. It felt like he was on top of a soft, cushion like surface.

"A bed perhaps? And what is this smell?"

As more of his senses returned to him, he began to get a better understanding of his new location. His nostrils took in the scent of what appeared to be a sweet moisture in the air. The aroma was very enjoyable and strong, almost intoxicating. It smelt like-

"Tea...am I in a house? Whose house am I in anyway?"

Banner was starting to get worried. Someone found him. This was one of his worst fears as being discovered and possibly held hostage was not what he was used too, especially not the Hulk. He was too weak to move, to run, fight, stand, or pretty much anything. He was completely vulnerable, unless whoever took him tried to kill him. The Hulk would not allow Banner to die, less he die as well. Something was off though, he was not bound by any restraints what so ever.

Here he was, lying in what he felt to be a bed of some sort, with the smell of tea in the air and nothing restricting his bodies movements. Maybe he wasn't being held against his will after all. That still left him worried as to where he was exactly. More of his senses registered themselves as his ears twitched slightly to welcome the various sounds of what he heard. Birds Chirping, a slight breeze in the air, and someone....humming? There was another person in the area besides him. That was probably obvious but now he was curious as to whom this voice belong too?

It was a female, Banner came to the conclusion as to when he heard the soft and soothing voice emanating from around him. It put him at ease as her voice seemed to release all the tension in the air and give him a sense of security. It wasn't after several seconds of hearing her hum when he came to the conclusion that her voice wasn't just peaceful, it was absolutely beautiful. He felt a lot safer and actually happier when he heard he angel like voice.

"Oh Hey umm...Vekk. Do you think you can do me a favor please and pass me the spice over there. I would really appreciate it."

Banner heard the shy and timidness in her voice, giving him a sense that the woman had the innocence of a child. It sounded very sincere and considerate, something he nearly forgot existed in the world.

"Sure thing Fluttershy, what are you making away if you don't mind me asking. It smells delicious."

Banner felt a little more at ease hearing the young pups voice as well. He did not know whether it was because of the Hulk's personality but Banner has actually grown sort of fond of the child. But now something else was nagging at the edge of his thoughts, who was this Fluttershy? That did not sound like a regular name for a human girl. Well he did make 'friends' with talking wolves, perhaps this person was of another species entirely.

"Ok now you are just going crazy. It doesn't sound like I am in any sort of danger right now. I might as well listen to what she and Vekk are saying. Its pretty much the only thing I can do now considering I don't even have the strength to lift a finger."

"It's just some herbal soup that Zecora showed me how to make. Its suppose to help make you feel better by helping boost your bodies immune system. I hope he likes it. He looks like he hasn't eaten anything in a long time."

"I'm sure he is going to love it Fluttershy! You took a lot of time to make it. Plus it smells and looks totally delicious! You umm think I could try some?"

*Giggles* My you are so cute! Yes you can have some, but first do you think you could help me set up the table next to your friend. He looks so tired, I think I am going to have to slowly feed him the soup."

"C'mon Fluttershy you know I don't like it when you talk like that! Its embarrassing!"

Banner could clearly hear Vekk was still as boyish as he was the night they met. It was, admittedly to Banner, kinda cute to hear him talk like that. He wondered what this soup of hers would taste like? It did smell very good, but he did not like the concept of eating something he could not physically see. Now he was using what little energy he had to at least open his eyes, to get a clue of where he was. Light started to creep through the crack of his eye lids, as little by little they rose higher. It was kinda funny, such a simple task requiring now so much effort for the tiniest glimpse of the unknown.

Finally after a great deal of effort, Banner was finally able to get his eyes part-way open. He could see that it was now daylight hours. The sunlight coming from the window above him in the room gave him a comforting amount of heat and light. His hypothesis was correct when he made the assumption he was on a bed. Was it a kids bed though, he could clearly see his feet dangled off the end of the small bed form which he laid on. He was grateful for what looked like a curtain wrapped around his lower midsection. At least he wasn't totally naked in the presence of a civilized society. Further inspecting his surrounds through his peripheral vision, he could see that there was a fireplace to the right of him and what looked like a birdhouse connected to the ceiling.

"That is a....interesting room plan. Never thought I would see a fireplace in a person's bed room. Why do I hear the sound of...clopping? What the he-"

Banner's thoughts went dead the instant he saw what was approaching him from the doorway. A techno colored pony, standing around four feet tall, with a coat of bright yellow began to approach him with a pot in her mouth. What was more astounding was the fact it had wings. It was a pegasus, a legendary creature of flight only heard of in mythology. It had light teal eyes with a very long pink mane. Banner came to the assumption that it might be female, based off of the wide hips that accompanied the body. Still it was absolutely incredible. What astounded him more was the fact that it used it's wings as a pair of hands. While scientifically speaking the bone density and muscles found in the body or mostly the wings of a bird would not give it the ability to lift heavy objects off the ground, proportionate to their weight of course. But seeing this female pegasus physically capable of lifting both a chair and a spoon in her wings proved his knowledge to be flawed.

"This is incredible! I never thought I would see a legendary pegasus before! That brings to question though, who is the owner of-"

"Hey Fluttershy I got the table for you. I'll set it down next to him for you. Anything else I could get you?"

"Thank you very much Vekk. I don't I need anything else for now. I appreciate the help and as promised, I saved you a bowl in the kitchen for you if you would like to try some."

Banner was completely freaked out. The same female voice he heard while his eyes were closed, did not belong to another human being. The origin of the shy and admittedly cute voice came from the mystical horse in front of him. Was he going crazy?

"It can....talk. The little pony just spoke fluent english. This is...highly improbable. No Impossible. An equine should not possess the physical ability nor posses the mental capacity to talk let alone be efficient in english! "

As the yellow coated pegasus gently set down the chair and bowl onto the table, she used her left wing to scoop out a good portion of the soup and slowly began to navigate its way to Banner's mouth. As the pegasus leaned over Banner to get the soup closer to his mouth, he couldn't help but smell the scent that was not coming off of the steamy pot, but from the female pegasus. She smelled like a fruit garden, or more pricelessly a combination of all things sweet and pure; something that was oddly comforting to the weak and nearly freaked out human. As the contents of the soup went down his throat, he wondered why the creature was helping him. He had never met her in his entire life, perhaps it was one of Vekk's friends, though that also appeared highly unlikely. The wolf was a carnivore, it preferred meat to take up the majority of his diet as opposed to the pony in front of him, who was a herbivore. Though Vekk was strange to begin with, maybe he could of made friends with her.

No matter how many theories popped up in his head, he came to the conclusion that he would not found out anything if he did not interact with the pony that was currently feeding him. Strangely though he felt more energized, like something in the herbal soup was making him feel more awake and alive. He then instantly regretted it, as another one of his senses came back online, his taste buds instantly registered the awful and nasty taste the soup was presenting. It tasted like dirt mixed with bits of soft pebbles. It was absolutely nasty.

*BLEGH!!* "Ughhh that was very unpleasant. Definitely woke me up. Ughhh."

Banner felt a light solid object hit his chest as soon as he finished the sentence. It was the spoon, the pegasus dropped it the very instant he uttered a word. Banner eyes were now fully open and from what he could see, the female horse was absolutely terrified. She began to back away very slowly, trying to approach the doorway while still looking at Banner when she accidentally hit the wall next to it instead.

*EEP!*

Banner watched as the female pegasus bumped against the wall, unable to make her way to the door. She looked at him with a mixture of worry and confusion. The longer he watched the scene in front of him, the more horrible he felt.

"Oh crap, look what I did. She is totally scared out of her mind. I better say something to calm her down, this is starting to get really sad."

Banner took a deep breath, and arched his back up against the back of the bed to give himself a better view of the little pony. Thinking carefully about how to interact with the timid creature in front of him, he began to take a more empathetic approach. Thinking about it from her position, he was a new creature that she probability has never encountered before. His next few words could either lead to a peaceful, or a hostile reaction. He obviously favored the one that did not get him into anymore conflicts.

*Sigh* "Thank you for the...rejuvenating soup. Ummm....My name is Dr. Bruce Banner. I appreciate you umm err helping me in my current situation. How may I...address you?"

"Dammit why am I stuttering like an idiot? Regardless I think I made a fairly good introduction."

Banner waited patiently as several long, and awkward seconds of silence passed by. The pegasus was still visibly shaken up and nervous. She was currently hiding behind her long pink mane, which to Banner was starting to become rather annoying. As seconds turned into minutes, he could clearly see that this was getting him nowhere. Noticing that he would have to initiate conversation again, he examined a piece of clothing she was wearing, a scarf.

"Thats a...nice scarf you are wearing. It suits your coat and mane."

"Umm...thank you...."

"I'm sorry miss I did not hear you. What did you say?"

"Thank you..."

"Again I can't hear you can you plea-"

"I SAID THANK YOU!! *EEP*

The pegasus, shocked by her sudden outburst, completely hid herself within the folds of her own hair, appearing to Banner what looked like a big pink bowling ball. This was starting to get really sad, really quickly. It seemed as if the female pegasus was incapable of a normal conversation without being frightened. He was beginning to lose hope that he would ever meet a creature who wasn't afraid of him. Bowing his head down in despair, Banner closed his eyes and hoped to drift off back into the darkness again...if it wasn't for a the sudden weight that fell upon his chest. Banner opened his eyes back up to look into the face of another creature, someone he has seen before-

"Is that the-"

Sitting atop of his chest was a pure white rabbit with various bandages covering his body. Still apparently recovering from his wounds, the bunny was hunched over slightly to alleviate the pain in its back. Banner noticed that the rabbit was just sitting there, looking at him. Cocking his head, Banner wondered why the rabbit was currently sitting on his chest. The rabbit suddenly leaned forward and gave what appeared to be a hug. Fluttershy, looking though the folds of her hair, witness the scene in front of her.

"Ummm......Are you the one who saved Angel Bunny?"

Banner, suddenly surprised to hear the timid pony speak, nodded his head in conformation. Technically, the answer wasn't a simple yes or no answer. The Hulk was the real one to save him rabbit, but he did not want to confuse the already frightened horse with the complicated explanation. He did want what anyone to know about his alter-ego.

"Yes I did. Does...he belong to you?"

The timid pony began to slowly uncurl herself from the ball she formed with her hair. A new sense of confidence was radiating through her body as she looked at Banner with a mixture of curiosity and compassion.

"Yes...he is my dear Angel Bunny. Thank you. If it had not been for you he would of died from those nasty wounds.

Banner smiled, happy that he was finally able to start a conversation with the fascinating creature. The pegasus actually was coming closer to him, trotting over to his side where she did something he would not expect, she embraced him in a hug. Banner was unsure of what to do next as her hooves were wrapped around gently behind his neck. He felt his shoulder become wet as tears started to flow out of her eyes. Banner, realizing how much the rabbit actually meant to her, was about to return the gesture when-

*Knock Knock Knock*

Both Banner and Fluttershy stopped as they heard the sound of banging on a door.

"Hey Fluttershy! You there!? Im so sorry it took so long, I was all the way in Las Pegasus when I heard about an Earthquake that happened near Ponyville. You ok, mind if I come in?"
