Luna figured out, he wanted to get outside and explore! He has been in this castle for so long, and he should be fine now that she was no longer feared. She asked him if he wanted to go out to the town, thinking it would make him happy to get outside with his mother. He simply shook his head.

“Mom…,” Shadow started, “I want to leave Canterlot…. I lived in this castle for a long time, and now I want to see what the world is like outside! Meet new ponies, make some friends, have the live I never got to have! I want to go to ponyville.”
Luna just looked at him shocked. “W-what?” They had only been together for a little time, so she was not ready to just lose him, but he was a grown pony, he was in charge of his own life. “I-If that is what you want to do, who am I to stop you?” She said, half-forcing a smile.

Later that day, Shadow got on the train to ponyville, leaving his family in Canterlot. On the way there, he began to think of all the ponies he would meet. He also thought, 'What if ponies are scared of me because of my mother.... what if they recognize me!' He was stressed thinking about what might happen for the rest of the ride.

Ponyville was, as he expected, not as luxurious as Canterlot….. Okay, maybe a lot less fancy, but he didn’t mind, the only real thing on his mind was getting to his new house, or hotel room rather. ‘Its only temporary’ he thought as he neared the hotel. It was near the center of the town, but not very close to any majorly populated areas.

Later That Day

After getting to his room, and “un-packing” (sleeping), Shadow set off to meet some of the ponies. His first stop was around the block, at a bakery. It wasn’t his first choice, considering there was somepony that bounced in there earlier, who he was sure worked there, that kinda scared him. But it was the closest, so he figured he might as well.
Arriving at the bakery, he could see a sign reading “SugarCube Corner.” “Maybe that pony was just having a sugar rush.” Shadow said, hoping that was the case. He stepped inside to be greeted by a familiar-ish face.

“HIWELCOMETOSUGARCUBECORNERMYNAMEISPINKIEPIE, I THROWTHEGREATESTPARTIESINPONYVILLEFOREVERYOCCA-” she finally to a break to gasp, “YOUMUSTBENEWHERE!!!! WHEREAREYOUFROM?DOYOUHAVEAHOUSE?AREYOUVISITINGFAMILY?DOYOUHAVEANYFRIENDSHERE?!DOYOUWANTTOBEMYFRIEND!!!!?WESHOULDHAVEAPARTY!!!” she rambled on for about a minute before she finally stopped for some air, where he started to answer what he heard of her endless barrage of questions.

“I am new here, I am from Canterlot, I have no family here, nor do I have any friends.” He slowly answered.

“Why don’t you have any friends? Is it because you’re a bully? Or you smell bad? Or-” Shadow just placed a hoof on her mouth, to signal her to stop.

“The reason I am here is to try to make some friends, this building was first on my path.”

Pinkie didn’t waste any time after he finished, “Well,” she said, “I can introduce you to my friends! We can become the bestbestbestbestFRIENDSEVER!”

Shadow just backed up, “Well, maybe later, but I have more places to go to….” Before she could talk, he ran out.

“See you later!” Pinkie called from the building.

A few minutes later, Shadow came to the next building, a….. clothing shop? He thought it looked a little fancy, but he decided to try it. He opened the door, and saw a white unicorn, and soon regretted opening the door.

He was in the building for about five minutes, and was in some ridiculous outfit that the unicorn was making.

“Uhhh…. Excuse me miss….”
“Rarity “, the unicorn said.

“Rarity, but… how and why exactly am I in a….. well, let’s just say outfit.”

“My apologies, but you just looked like the perfect model for my new colt clothing line!” Rarity said, with a big smile.
Shadow shook himself out of the outrageous outfit and walked over to the mare. “I’m Shadow Crest, I’m new, just moved in from-” he was then cut-off by Rarity.

“Let me guess….. Alicorn…. Goggles, vest…. Nothing too special… Maybe Cloudsdale….?”

Shadow was offended by her remarks on his appearance, “ACTUALLY! I am from Canterlot.”

Rarity nearly fainted when she realized…. She offended an Alicorn from Canterlot…. What if he was royalty! “My sincerest apologies, I did not know, are you, by chance, related to the royal family?” she made a big grin.

Shadow, completely disregarding the fact he was the son of Nightmare Moon, said “Actually, yes I am!”

This did not help the fact that she was about to faint fainted, ‘I insulted royalty!’ what the last thing she tought before she passed out.

“Ummmmm…..” Shadow decided he should leave…

Shadow was walking to his next destination, when he started to decide that everypony here was crazy in their own…. Crazy… way.

The next place he came to was… a tree? “Huh?” Shadow thought out loud, then saw the library sign and entered the building.
